Pros:

Pick up was quick, drop off was easier. The insurance through kayak is much more bang for buck, budget even told us this. Their rate was 50 a day and kayaks was 72 for the 9 days. Was a good piece of mind becasue with 1600 miles you never know what can happen

We were disappointed in the extra charge for an early drop off. Also the shuttle to the pick-up took a long time coming. Also I was not pleased with the policy that they have for dealing with tolls. They have a surcharge on top of the toll charge. Unimpressed.

Easy pickup and straight forward transaction. Quick replacement when front tyres were under inflated. Car was in very good condition but tyre warning light came on at end of hire. Need to ensure that they service cars between hires properly. Overall very good

The staff without exception were super friendly and helpful, pickup was easy and efficient and drop-off was even better. The rates were also better than all the competitors for our 5 day trip. The car was a Mitsubishi ASX which is a nice size but just OK in terms of drivability, comfort and additional gadgets but it was clean and with plenty of fuel when we picked it up. We would choose Apex again.

Pros: Car was very comfortable & fuel efficient. Staff was very professional. Quick & easy return. Cons: Rates were a little high. We did not like that we were threatened with a $170AUD fee if the car was not cleaned upon its return. We had never heard that before with any other rental we've had.

I liked the car.

Cons:

I did not like the price and eventually ended up returning it early (which I had to pay a $30 early-return fee for). I reserved it online for $169.00 but by the time I got to the counter at the airport, I was paying over $600 for the rental for 6 days. I could have rented a GPS (which I needed bc in a foreign country) for $20 a day (pricing is way too high for this) or upgraded for another $10-$11 per day on the car (basically forcing the upgrade). The insurance was around $47 per day which would have put me up to around $870ish for the rental so I opted out of that, which led to being worried the whole time about other drivers who might damage the car in some way, leading me to have to pay for any damage that might have happened (was warned I might have to pay $6000 if damage occurred - higher because of upgrade). This was a vacation and I definitely was not expecting to pay so much for the rental car (money could have gone towards vacation activities). Hertz strikes me as a company that strives to always have the lowest prices on kayak and the other travel sites so they can get max customers in the door and then charge them for everything under the sun after that. I will definitely be comparing prices a little more closely from now on.

Pros:

The class of vehicle i booked was not available, yet I was charged the full amount BEFORE being informed that the full size SUV was not available. When I wanted to compare other options and cost, I was told to wait (with a 1 year old baby, after a 14 he flight) and ignored for an hour. Staff was short, rude and not interested in providing information. When I offered to return the nexr day to collect the class of vehicle I booked, that was also declined. I eventually got a smaller car, that forced me to change my family holiday plans, required the use of a second vehicle for 5 days.

Cons:

I should've received the car I booked, or provided with alternatives. I use Thrifty aften (4 times a year, for about 3 months in total) but will reconsider my options in future

Pros:

Nothing !!! They could not provide the car that I booked and paid for in advance. They stated that a Mercedez and a Toyota are the same categorie ( which they are NOT) So they cancelled my 2 reservations and I had to find a different alternative. Very in professional I travel to many countries and I will NEVER use them again. Now I have to get my money refunded let see how that goes.

The front desk was very helpful in making sure our group got the best SUV for our needs. The staff at return was incredibly quick and friendly.

Cons:

Instructions on which terminal is best for returning cars would have been helpful. We had to take the bus 4km because we dropped off the car at the domestic, instead of the international terminal.

Booked a “mystery compact car” and they tried to give me an 8x seater people mover. Then charged me an additional fee to actually get a compact car Wrong instructions on airport collection came through in the email vs on the phone as I had to call up 3x. Staff on the phone were abrupt and rude Staff at counter said it wasn’t their problem the car had been advertised as “compact” when it wasn’t Driver who collected us from airport couldn’t lift bags or help in any way Just wouldn’t recommend, scam. Spend more money, at a known hire company at the airport, much easier and you actually know what you’re getting.

While this company claims to be at the Sydney International Airport, they are not actually at the airport, they're off site & have no rental desk, representative or courtesy phone at airport. While booking, this company's location is represented as "Sydney International Airport" with an address following it. It turns out if you search the address, that address is not at Sydney International Airport, despite claiming that it is. Instead, when you arrive and are told by all the other car rental places that they are off site and you have to call them, you have to use your own phone (an international call if you not from AUS) to request a shuttle be dispatched. After calling for a shuttle, the company sent ours to the wrong terminal even though we had provided our flight info when we booked the car rental. After waiting nearly 40 mins with an exhausted two year old & having to make a second international phone call to ask what was going on, the company blamed us for their mistake & insisted that we gave them the wrong terminal information (in reality they never asked what terminal we were at and assumed we were at the international terminal). They then insisted that I was supposed to call 24 hours ahead of time to schedule the shuttle (the instructions provided by them, in contrast, state nothing of the sort, only "For detailed pick-up instructions, please call [...] at least 24 hours before your pick-up time. Please go to: Priority Pickup Area / Rideshare Area. A shuttle will take you to the rental counter."). They disliked that I refused to accept responsibility for their mistake, that I pointed out that their instructions said nothing about being required to book a shuttle in advance while quoting what it actually said, and that in the process of disputing their accusations and complaining about the disaster that is their pickup process I swore on the phone. Their response was to threaten to not give us the car we had pre-paid for. The shuttle driver was appalled by how we had been treated and told us to ask to speak to a manager and report the behavior. At the off site location, the company representative insisted that he was the manager of the company and there was no one else in the company I could speak to in order to file a complaint and then claimed that I had broken a law, so he was within his right to not rent me the car I had already paid for. When I pressed them about what law I had broken, he then claimed it was actually an internal company policy that, as best he could describe to me, no one could ever actually know about or have been able to read ahead of time (& he couldn't produce it for me either). Finally another employee attempted to smooth things over by suggesting that it was a misunderstanding caused by poor communication by the third party booking service used (also not my problem and a reflection of their arrangement with these companies), and they finally gave us the car we had reserved and paid for. This was by far the least professional rental car company I've ever used and can not believe they treat their customers this way.

We paid additional for an suv which was not available. Instead they gave us an old small sedan with dings and scratches all over it. Would have gone with the cheaper rate had I known I would be getting such a poor vehicle.

We paid for an SUV, and when we got to pick-up there were none left. We were given a golden Astra saloon car, which is not what I wanted and not what I paid for. The service assistant told me that as we had already paid, there was nothing he can do - which is unreasonable. He then said we could bring the car back half full, as compensation - when we dropped the car off there was no record of this and we were told we would be charged for the lack of fuel. I am unsatisfied with the whole experience of your company.

At the Sydney drop off they tried to charge me for previous damage. They wouldn't resolve it, so I cancelled the second rental in Cairns with them. I took video when I picked up and dropped off the car , and I told them I had the video. So far they haven't tried billing me for the damage. I recommend you us a more reputable company.

Convenient pickup location near arrivals Friendly and helpful staff Dropoff was quick and easy once we had descended into the depths of the underground car park (Pullman Hotel in central Sydney) Car was clean and mobile - although small even after our upgrade

Cons:

Very slow pickup - took over half an hour to complete paperwork although there was no queue. For us, it was a big comparison with Launceston (Tasmania) Europcar where we had rented the week before and where pickup was almost instantaneous (to be fair, Launceston is a much smaller airport). Price increased more than expected over original booking - 30% (of total car price) extra charge was applied for picking up at Sydney airport.
