Pros:Not much about this hotel. I have stayed in many W’s and this is the worst. It is near many restaurants.
Cons:If your gay please note that there are better hotels in better areas of bogota which I will list below. I live in nyc and own a business in Colombia and visit 15+ times a year. I am marrying a Colombian man in July. On this trip I arrived to bogota got the holiday and to also have a hair transplant. I arrived to the hotel a few hours before my boyfriend and when he arrived I went down and kissed him and then led him up to my room. 15 minutes later I get a call saying something to the effect that security has determined I have someone unauthorized in my room just can’t be there until we visit the front desk. (You can imagine the amount of alarms I must have set off with security for them to spend 15 minutes to track down which room I went to). I visit the front desk and am told by a snotty desk man that visitors cost $50 a night unless I come back down and sign them out (as if I’m bringing some prostitute of the street) First I should point out that if I had walked in with a woman, no one would have said anything. I am 10000% positive that if this had been a woman no one would have said a word! I pointed out to the desk man that I had paid for 2 people. He had the stupidity to say I would still be charged and I could remove it later. I think he noticed my tone of voice was becoming harder. At this point I’m furious. He then said on second though he would check and went to click around on his computer. I do not remember what I said and something to the lines of stupid $&&@!?! Hotel but I signed a paper and I walked off. I should have complained to a manager. The security guard at the elevators actually laughed at us when we finally went back up. He saw us kiss when we first entered and I’m positive he caused this mess. I then had surgery and wanted to have a few friends over to see me but did not dare because i would have to go through a mess of registering each guest. I have traveled to over 30 countries and I’ve stayed in 100’s of the best hotels in this world. (Many of them W’s) I’ve been to some of the most dangerous cities in the world and never have I been so angry. I don’t care what the W’s policy is in bogota but me nor my employees will ever set foot in that hotel again! If you want a good hotel the I’ve stayed at the click clack hotel (a boutique) or jw Marriott. Both of which are closer to the best restaurants and party areas and Neither of which have ever harassed me for bringing a guest to my room!!! To top it off when I left I was told I ate a minibar chocolate bar and drank a water by the same front desk man (I did not touch the mini bar). I was not charged but I wanted to strangle him. Whoever manages this W is not well traveled because of this had happened in any other country of the world it would be ridiculous. You have security there to keep bad people out NOT TO HARASS GUESTS! I’m sure the W bogota makes a lot of money and won’t care to lose one customer but I’m never coming back!
Pros:Everything about this hotel was first class. I never stayed in one before because of the price, but Easter Weekend rooms were $100 U.S. per night. The service was world class. If you told them you have an ant farm and need worms they would be at your door in 5 minutes. I had a minor issue with the food from room service so they comped it and added a free Sunday brunch. It wasn't even questioned. Great class of people and as a solo gay traveler I met so many gay men it would be worth twice the price. I will be staying at W hotels whenever possible!
Pros:The staff was super sweet and accommodating at every turn. The rooms were really modern and bathrooms exceptionally clean. Also, our king bed was very comfortable!
Cons:The location was a little ways away from everywhere we wanted to go, however Uber is insanely cheap and we were able to get around with ease.
