Icelandic food can be an acquired taste, especially if you're not used to eating it or have a typically basic palate. Having a self-catering holiday rental like Iceland Comfort Apartments or a dual option like iStay Cottages gives you a chance to try the cuisine at a restaurant nearby and also buy produce to prepare your own food.

If you're travelling to Reykjavik on business, you'll want to be as close to the city centre as possible with access to local public transport and a business centre. There are several holiday rentals in Reykjavik that fit these criteria. A few of the downtown properties with a business centre include Hotel Holt, Center Hotels Plaza, Centerhotel Klopp and Center Hotels Arnarhvoll. All of these are within walking distance of local transport and offer a taxi-calling service if you need it.

Most of the bars and restaurants in the city are located in Downtown Reykjavik and slightly north of the city centre.
