The staff was wo derful and hardworking. The meals were very nice. The atmosphere is the main reception area is warm and inviting.
We chose the Carnarvon Inn because of its location near to Highclere Castle.Without a car, the taxi fares added up. Knowing the inn has guests similar to us, it might be a nice service to provide a ride to the tour dropoff/pickup.
The staff were really friendly, the breakfast was great Very convenient for Highclere Castle which we were visiting but aside if that we wouldn’t visit again
Our room was the disabled room and it made it difficult as the shower was low level as was the sink and they told us we were the only ones there on that night so we wondered why we were given that room? Also our room wasn’t serviced whilst we were out all day and we had to ask for clean towels and more milk despite the lady on reception telling us she was about to do it!! The room electrics were poor, all the sockets were behind the desk in a corner which given it was a disabled room we didn’t understand as we struggled to use. Thought it was very expensive for what it was and the bar prices steep
Where to start! Great staff, very helpful and friendly. We had lots of dietary needs and they accommodated us with a smile. Food was delicious, bedrooms are a cosy size but well appointed. Lots of parking. Around the corner from Highclere. Dogs welcome. Cozy pub with stove.
For the those sensitive to road noise, the busy A34 runs close by so one can at times hear some road noise in the morning but it wasnt very noisy and never an issue for us.
stayed here now several times when on business in Newbury. Never disappointed. Rooms always well appointed and beautifully clean. too late for evening meal on this occasion but I know the food is good. Breakfast choice also good.
Latest visit was on a Sunday and last food order was 9pm, so missed this. Not an issue for me as had eaten earlier but might inconvenience some people. always worth checking in advance.
The bar and restaurant were very comfortable and tastefully decorated and furnished. The food was excellent especially the breakfasts
The green light above door in bed room was too bright. We stayed 4 nights and had very little sleep. The bedroom was very dusty. Hadn't had a thorough clean in a while I think!!
