We will never forget our stay at this ranch. It was really perfect. The ranch, the cabin, the pets... just everything. Ming and Garry took incredible care of us. We got the chance to get to know a real cowboy (Stephen Zicker) and indian woman. It was really hard for us to leave the ranch but we hope we will come back one day…
The farm fresh eggs were a nice touch, the setting was excellent, so quiet...
Everything was great. I was a little bummed that I was charge a cleaning fee each night but there was nothing attended to until we left. No one even check in to see what was up.
Words cannot adequately describe what an amazing experience staying at Canyon of the Ancients Guest Ranch is. The accommodations, the friendliness of the owners, the way they integrate you and your family into life at the ranch — all outstanding!
Nothing! It was perfect
The attention to detail in the Wagstaff cabin is amazing! The heated floors felt wonderful during our March stay. Fresh picked eggs, a local guide to take us on a petroglyph hike, and the friendliest hosts in the world put this place in a category of its own.
Unfortunately, our son in law was quite ill during our visit, which prevented us from fully embracing all of the opportunities to enjoy the property.
Had a very nice time at the Ranch. It is a great location for exploring the archaeological sites in the area. It is close enough to Cortez for meals etc but not so close for "urban sprawl." Plus it would be just great for hanging out without exploring Mesa Verde and the Canyon of the Ancients. There was a large party gathering from several states for a 50th birthday. Ming and Gary are very welcoming and made us feel quite at ease. Everything shows a great deal of considerate thought that went into the resources and amenities. For instance, the gas grill had a lighter and scrubber laid right next to it to make it easy on the guest. The accommodations are comparable with high end B&Bs in Santa Fe and Taos. Plus whimsical things like the tree lights wrapped around the old saddle and posts for the porch. We also liked the "farm atmosphere" with the lambs bleating, the chickens and dogs running around, the cattle and sheep, the obvious physical presence of ongoing ranch work, and the occasional barn smells. This has been a working cattle ranch for about a hundred years.
Have to think about that. Hmmm.
