Pros: The situation in the town was really central and on the border of the river. The ladies at the reception was very nice and helpful. The buffet was very nice.
6.0 Good
Pros: breakfast was more or less the same as one would get at a 4 star hotels. Staff were friendly.
Cons: my room was facing the river and due to this the price was slightly higher than rooms without the river view. Despite the good view, the area was buzzing with group of musicians/ singers performing and singing out of tune most of the time right across the river.

Pros: The comfort and cleanliness and location was superb. I had done the initial booking with the wrong check in date and after booking only I realized that the date was wrong and the booking was nonrefundable. I requested the booking.com if they could help me with the booking to cancel it and they did it within an hour with out any cancellation charges. The hotel agreed not to charge me for the wrong booking. That was really a wonderful gesture by the hotel and booking.com. Thank you for a wonderful service provided.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: i particularly like one of your staff at Hilton Melaka by the name of Song, he was friendly and was very kind taking the extra effort to comfort the customers. importantly the heating shower was not good 1406 room, other than that all the facilities, the showers gels from Crabtree and services provided by housekeeping and receptionist was superb! providing decaf coffee for the customers is very thoughtful!
Cons: the shower in the room is not hot enough..which is important after a tiring day
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast -so much food Room -very comfort
Cons: Surrounding didnt have much F&B places
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great, starting with checking in, was attended by Ms Vera who was warm and really friendly, and then to receive the warm cookies...ohh the cookies, love! We went up to our room walking along the corridor smelling the lemongrass essential oil which was calming, an added bonus. Our room was really spacious, and there’s no fault to it really. Breakfast spread was extensive and delicious and all the staff were friendly and accomodating. Good job in hiring all the right people.
Cons: There’s only two cons; one is minor which is the sheer curtain in our room (1620) was torn which brought down the exclusiveness of the room and one kinda big con, which is the swimming pool, it was pretty and inviting, an infinity pool overlooking the town of Melaka but it was a letdown because the water was too cold, even if you swim during the scorching heat at noon and the wind at that level was really strong that even our shoes move around. The kids did not enjoy the pool because of the coldness and I did notice the other guests were inside the pool for just a few moments before getting out so that was a major con. I would suggest the pool to be heated to be enjoyed by the guests fully.
7.5 Good
Pros: Good breakfast, spacious room
Cons: -

Pros: Awesome service, very friendly staffs. Seriously I love the staffs and definitely Double tree by Hilton will be my first choice if I visit Melaka again.

U think we're not married yet? We brought our child too at this trip.
7.0 Good
Pros: It is a nice hotel with beautiful garden and decorations. However, there are a few convenience stores just across the road. The Pool is tiny, but it is enough for cooling down. Cleanliness is ok, but could be improved. Staff is friendly and helpful, but there is also times when there is just nobody from the staff to be found...
Cons: The location is only good, if you want to be close to the Portugese Settlement... everything else is quite far away. Cleanliness could be improved. Unfortunately the hotel started renovation on our last day, and the workers were not considerate by starting with drilling early in the morning... There is times when there is nobody from the staff to be found.

Da Som Inn - Malacca - Bedroom

8.6 Excellent (219 reviews)
S$ 40+
Overview Reviews
We are an art speciality boutique hotel at the centre of UNESCO’s world cultural heritage site. Strategically located at No. 28 Jalan Tukang Emas (Goldsmith Street) aka Harmony Street, Malacca, Malaysia. To truly reflect its harmony status, it is a diversified place of various settlements -Indian settlement (234 years old Sri Poyyatha Vinayagar Moorthi temple (1781), Malay settlement (267 years old Kampung Kling mosque (1748) and Chinese settlement (370 years old Cheng Hoon Teng temple (1645) on the same street within 1 to 2 minutes walking distance. Not to leave out the European settlement nearby (504 Years A Famosa Fortress (1511), Christ Church (1753), Stadthuys (1650). Our hotel is an old but well maintained building within the Dutch Settlement area (trace back to year 1611) with unique 200 feet long, thick wall and underground sewerage pipes. It has witnessed the history of Malacca Empire and the modern world. Although it has been refurbished, renovated and re-renovated, yet and surprisingly, it was a lovely home, a trade centre, a factory before it was turned into a hotel. Built with 3 air well areas, you can enjoy any of the hotel rooms (with windows) which are air conditioned and fan equipped. Comfortable duvet, pillows and bed will embrace you upon your check in. Free wifi is also available. A variety of breakfast will be served on each different day while American breakfast is always available upon request. 24 hours 7 days a week of free flow of coffee, tea, RO water, milk, juice, cereals and biscuits are ready to serve you at anytime even at midnight or in the wee hours. Outside the hotel, you will see a different world of modern marvel with delicious nyonya and local food such as cendol or durian puff at famous Jonker Street aka Chinatown (next to Harmony street) and world of ancient art with museums and art galleries at Heeren Street (next to Jonker street). Let’s also enjoy the thrill of visiting the old A Famosa fortress, Stadthuys, ruins of St Paul’s church (1521), Queen Elizeberth fountain or enjoy and stop by at modern Hard Rock Café or the Geographer Café for a drink. All within 5 minutes walking distance from this strategically located hotel. So....Let’s relax and enjoy, refresh and replenish!
7.0 Good
Pros: Free flow of drinks and very friendly staffs. Keep it up :)
Cons: The room a bit too small when we added an extra bed as we need to put the bed at the centre of the room
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Really kind owner and staff. room was comfortable and clean, with a good bed. Good Breakfast in the morning with toast and jam, fruit and omelette. Free coffee, tea and orange juice available all the day
Cons: Nothing, actually it was really good. Just a suggestion: a sofa in the hall would make it perfect.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The stuff were extremely friendly and polite, particularly the gentleman who did my check in and the young lady that was working in the mornings. An absolute delight. The location was great too, minutes walk from the market but on a quiet spot. Room was big and spacious with all the amenities and the breakfast was very good too. The hotel has an old school charm that I really liked!
Cons: The hotel is old (with charm though) but when another guest is making noise, it is impossible not to hear it. Particularly slamming doors around 12 o clock. Not the hotel's fault but perhaps there might be a courtesy reminder to guests not to do that. In addition, the bed was a bit short. My legs were outside the frame (and I am only 1.78cm!)
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Eveything was perfect in this Hotel

7.0 Good
Pros: View from window overlooked long pool and Straits of Malacca. Room was quiet and bed comfortable, especially with usual choice of pillows and fluffy comforter. Shuttle was available to visit historic old town, a 15-min walk.
Cons: For some travelers, the Hotel may be seen as too remote from lively old town. I chose to walk distance more often than use shuttle, which crossed a bust main fare where drivers use left side of the road, a tricky situation at best.
3.0 Mediocre
Cons: The aircond did not work well. My husband could not sleep for the whole nite. Plus we book for RM250 but ended up having to pay RM293. This app sucks!

Pros: Friendly staff and clean/comfortable room
Cons: Shuttle bus did not go to the bus stations.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is good and breakfast is also good
7.1 Good
Pros: Lift and corridor smelly and need to be improved
Cons: House keeping response was very slow. I did called thru Reception Counter for 3X and waited for Half an Hour, yet they failed to serve us. Due to that incident It had made me late for my dinner appointment. Very Disappointed!!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The room is very practically designed. The pillow and mattress were very comfortable. The stae of the room is pleasant and clean. Breakfast has lots of variety. Dining area is pleasant. Staff at the coffee house are very helpful and friendly. The spa is also pleasant and the staff is nice. There is ample space for parking and is located at a convenient area for entrance and exit to the city. The location of the hotel is superb. The check out experience was quick and pleasant.
Cons: Although we were greeted warmly by the bellboy, the staff at check in counter was not very welcoming. She did not smile while attending to me. Her attitude is somewhat cold and just want to get it done and over with. The booking confirmatiom stated a price of rm405, however i was charged rm476. When i make queries regarding the price difference, she only said, it was due to the tax. I feel it is important for booking.com to quote the actual price in the printed version during booking confirmation so that customer will not feel cheated. Other than that, i wish the staff would try to kindly explain the itemised charges instead of looking bored with my queries. Perhaps the management can clarify this matter.

Pros: Good hotel with good location and good room!
Cons: Staff wasn’t that friendly as I expected especially staffs at the front counter.
5.0 Okay
Cons: For a 4-5 star hotel there is lack of attention to detail. Shower stall leaking and every time after shower, water seep through and flood the area in front of the sink. Wall paper in the bathroom peeling off at some areas. House keeping people should pick up this kind of mishaps.

5.0 Okay
Pros: The location was good. We walked to everywhere and also it was nice and quiet in the room.
Cons: The cafe was not open on Tuesday the day we arrived but it looked empty on Wednesday too. Would have been nice to be able to relax at the bar. We had window that overlooked an alley. Not great.
7.5 Good
Pros: The location, and the interior design. The helpful staff.
Cons: The facilities could be improved, bar and restaurant.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The atmosphere is good, room is clean and cozy. Staffs are friendly!
Cons: Breakfast can be improved a little bit. The buffet part can be more choices if possible.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Nice heritage building, very well located by the river.
Cons: Check-in experience mostly involved signing up to a long list of rules and charges for breaking them (e.g. late check-out fees; room damage deposit; 100 MYR if you're unlucky enough to lose the card for your room). I had made the mistake of booking a room without a window - my fault for booking it, but it was badly lit and quite depressing. The outdoor space was unusable, being located next to an extremely smelly drain - not the hotel's fault (and maybe a temporary issue?) but really meant it was impossible to spend time there. Staff came across as patronising and insincere. Even though I couldn't get a refund for cancellation, I left after one night and went to stay somewhere else.
6.0 Good
Pros: The deco and the concept.
Cons: Didn't have fridge in the room, the bathtub is plastic material.

3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Locaiton is not bad, walking distance to jonker st is about 500m walk, booked the executive suite. Bed big enough.
Cons: The towel is like rag that look like have been use to clean the floor, many dust on the table & tray. Toilet paper run out, call reception at 10pm no one pick up. Hotel Provided 2 small 350ml of water. Seriously it’s not enough ( nearby no 7-11 to buy), call ask for water no one pick up at night. Only 2 Hotel parking lots is not enough, if u drive out u come back u might not have parking lot.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good breakfast.
6.7 Good
Pros: Front desk/ receptionist is great and helpful
Cons: The breakfast was extremely ungraceful with entitlement portion to each guest, and the variety was very pitiful. The house keeping is not well trained. After cleaning the room and just throw away the toilitied without replenishing such as toothbrushes. My contact lenses were lost as well. (unopened) 600 degree each.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: It's fine, but like a lot of places in booking, the pictures aren't quite what the place looks now, maybe 5 years ago when it was wonderful, just looked a little sad
Cons: Nothing, it was nice
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Big spacious room. Long corridor. The lobby is really nice and the view is beautiful
Cons: Somebody cut their nails and ledr it in the drawer
1.0 Poor
Cons: Staff were exploiting the loophole regarding tourist tax. Even after pointing out the fine print on my booking confirmation, they insisted that locals weren’t exempted from paying tourist tax. Complicated, unwarranted and badly handled. Hotel reception did not bother verifying the details of guests leaving us wondering about the hotel’s policy on verifying their guests and their security measures. Unfortunately, we will never stay there again and will inform our friends and family members who are planning a trip to Melaka.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The staffs were good.
Cons: Already mentioned earlier
2.9 Mediocre
Pros: Location is reasonable.
Cons: Room was in old and dirty condition. Bedsheet was stained. Balcony was left with rubbish and cigarettes.
7.0 Good
Pros: Location is nearby, view of the river is superb
Cons: The lobby and toilet is run down. Needed more maintenance.. the room toilet sink is blocked and the exhaust too dirty and cannot sucked odor out properly. Only have 2 housekeeping to clean all room and have to wait until 3.20 to check.in.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: I was in a 21st Floor Room with a wonderful view over the City and the Straits of Malacca. I was very comfortable and I stayed for 13 nights in mid-December. The staff are always friendly and efficient. The location is excellent and it is only a short walk to the City Centre. The Chinese Cemetary is a very short distance away and is a haven of tranquility. There is a good food court opposite the hotel where I had my breakfast each morning. Also a great swimming Pool. This is my fourth stay at The Emperor.
Cons: The highly amplified noise from the adjacent mosque. This starts at 0545 and continues until about 0625. It is impossible to sleep through it. I do not remember this being a problem on previous visits. It may not be so bad at the back of the hotel but I suspect it could still be a problem for those of us who are not early risers. I will have to seriously consider whether to stay again (certainly for a long stay). It is a shame as I like staying here but may have to find somewhere a little quieter. WiFi is only avialable in the reception area but this was not a problem - it may even have been a benefit for me as it got me out of my room!
