Pros: We liked the various breakfast options. The host was really nice and helpful. The main square was just 5 minutes to walk.
Cons: Rooms can be a little bit badly soundproofed (like most hotels in Columbia).
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Highly recommended! This establishment is one of the finest of Salento. The owner is extremely friendly, helpful and working around the clock to make your stay the most convenient. - Fine breakfast - Comfortable bed/bathroom - Great location
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The room had character, was clean, with a reliable hot shower. Good WiFi Excellent location Lots of tours available (I had done similar ones previously so didn’t book any) Very tasty breakfast And best of all - the very friendly and helpful staff. I was going very early to the airport, they booked a taxi for me and got up early to prepare my breakfast. Fantastic service! Excellent value for money.
Cons: As others mentioned it can be a bit noisy with roosters and traffic, but having stayed in other places in the town, this seems to part of the Salento experience!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very nice hotel, the staff is really kind. Perfect location near the main square but very quiet by night. I would definetly recommand this place to stay in Salento.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were pampered all the way!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location just 2 min walk from the main square. In the morning you can hear roosters and horses walking down the street but it is all part off countryside experience and we loved it. The staff really does everything to make your stay comfortable and pleasant. They arranged tours, borrowed boots and raincoats, helped with laundry. All in all the best hospitality you could ever have.Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Cons: We had a bit if a problem with bus station pick up but all the other things were so great we got over it soon:)

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The view from the private balcony is great. The room is very spacious and the breakfast is brought to your room. So you can enjoy the breakfast from the balcony with a view.
5.4 Okay
Pros: The view from the balcony was outstanding. It was great to wake up and look out the windows from the bed. The room was well-equipped with a kitchen. It had great character.
Cons: The staff, while nice, made some terrible decisions regarding our stay. We booked for two nights. The first night was great. And then, for no discernible reason, the staff made us change our room. They told us as we were going out for the day to hike. So we had to go back to our room to pack for the move before we could go for our hike so near you turn on the air conditioner just don't turn it on very low. The second room was identical to the first, so it made no sense for us to change. However, the second room had had its wood floor recently oiled. When we laid down in the bed, the smell of oil was overwhelming. We had to sleep with all windows and doors open during the night to avoid the noxious smell of the floor. These inconsiderate staff decisions spoiled what could have been a very nice stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Close to town/ good location. Quiet at night. Very friendly staff. Claudia, Sandra were so patient with us as we didn’t speak any Spanish and Andres brought us coffee every morning with a smile. Very clean. Good wi fi and view
Cons: The roosters around town starting early morning but it is not the hotel’s problem.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: View from the balcony is excellent. In the quiet part of Salento with sprawling garden. Exceptional staff.
Cons: Locker did not work. WC seat was broken.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable - nice staff - on top of whatever we needed - polite - Location close to most things in town.
Cons: Only 2 suggestion ..... One more mirrors placed outside the bathroom. A few more hooks on the walls of the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very nice. We got perfect recommendations, what you can do in Salento. The breakfast was great and could be taken on your own terrace.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property was super clean, a 5-7 min walk in to the main streets of town and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Salento is a great place to stay for 1-2 nights. A coffee tour, visiting the Cocora Valley and eating trout are a must.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location & view were outstanding. Everything worked as expected, including wifi. Hot water was plentiful. Tea & coffee always available on the veranda. Staff were very helpful. Breakfast offered good choices and service.
Cons: Nothing, but visitors coming from Pereira airport by taxi should note that it is cheaper to get the official taxis which have an authorized fare rate from the airport than getting a taxi thru the hotel (145,000 versus 185,000 COP). Buses are a cheaper option leaving Salento if you want to mix with other travelers and locals.
10.0 Excellent

7.9 Good
Pros: Nice atmosphere
Cons: Room a little dark
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic garden with tropical birds and hammocks to chill. Location just out of town, so nice and quiet but close enough to go out at night. Very helpful staff. Showers are good and warm. Excellent breakfast, you can choose from a number of options. Price/quality is excellent.
Cons: We stayed in 2 different rooms. One had a good bed, the other one was not so great. Also, we had some ants in the room.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Convenient location close to bus station and short walk into town. Basic facilities are clean with hot water throughout. Good breakfast served in beautiful garden where you can see beautiful birds. Staff very friendly. There is a large guard dog.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: - friendly (englisch speaking) staff - nice breakfast - a wonderful garden - a quiet and relaxed hostel, what we enjoed
Cons: - our mattress was worn out and the pillow was of very cheap quality, means sleep was rather uncomfortable - no mosquito net
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Variety of breakfast options, nice outdoor area, free books to enjoy whilst you stay, rooms were good, and the staff was very friendly and helpful
Cons: The mini fridge was very very noisy during the night, and we had to disconnect it. Mini fridges are in general quite unnecessary :-)
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The garden with the birds! Breakfast was good as well for Colombian standards.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! The room was great and clean and had a hot shower! (you had to stop the water each 30s otherwise it got cold, but that is a problem with my showering style). The garden was exceptional with all the birds! Everyone of the staff was great and always had a smile on his/her lips! A stay at Hostal El Zorzal (double room with garden view) is definitely better than staying in Salento directly where it's often loud either because of parties or maintenance of buildings and streets... It was the first room I could sleep in without ear plugs! I would recommend this hotel to everyone and will definitely return!
Cons: ---
7.1 Good
Pros: The staff was very helpful and kind. They had a Christmas celebration dinner for everyone which was very nice of them. They helped me with transport as well. The view is quite nice as you're outside the main area and can look at the mountains. There are also a few options for breakfast which is good if you're staying there longer. I enjoyed the breakfast view.
Cons: It's close to the road so you can hear the cars :( Also, I was travelling alone and found the location a bit far and didn't feel comfortable at nights walking back, but it should be okay if you're travelling with someone. Also, their breakfast is until 9.30 which is quite early. If you're not a morning person like me, have that in mind! The bathroom was a bit small but it was okay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I booked 2 nights initially and then added 2 more after my first night! Quiet room to get some rest after exploring. Friendly staff and yummy breakfast with a view!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Very kind staff. Great service.

5.0 Okay
Pros: Good staff and day cleaning. Good location.
Cons: No soundproofing at all. You hear every sound from courtyard and other rooms. Need some renovation. Poor breakfast. Overpriced.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff at beta is extremely friendly and helpful. They have their own tour office and are happy to help you with anything you made need. The breakfast is great and is served with freshly squeezed OJ.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: All staff were incredibly friendly and helpful
Cons: This is so minor but the bathroom fans are so noisy. It’s not a big issue at all though.
7.1 Good
Pros: Lovely family that really takes care of you. They speak English very well and they go out of their way to make you feel at home. Location is great, you’re a few steps away from the city center. They have activities like playing Tejo, they will assist you on booking trips or travels and there are bicycles for rent. Try one of the tours to the surrounding coffee plantations. That was impressive! Thanks for being such lovely hosts!
Cons: Personally I found the room too basic for my taste. That was mostly due to lack of natural light, very hard mattresses and having a tiny bathroom. I did not get this from the pictures before. And it’s okay if you’re aware and looking for a more basic base to start your day, but it just wasn’t for me.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: All good
Cons: Brilliant
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was nice. Location pretty good.
Cons: No A/C. Room was too hot, although it cooled off a bit at night.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The shower area and the bedrooms/ whole facility is very clean. The property is a little walk from the town centre which is perfect and also quiet. The beds have a blanket and a sheet and are comfortable.
Cons: The included breakfast is Basic but you can get 50% off your bill if you book breakfast and go for the full menu - which is excellent! Pancakes are delicious!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Not a big deal, but our room was facing the corridor instead of patio, so no sunlight. But you don't want to spend time inside anyway having so mamy great outdoor options here
Cons: Nice place, just a few blocks away from the main square but much more quiet. Comfy and clean room, good breakfast and drinks selection in the beta restaurant. Helpful staff.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is perfect, it is just one street from the main square. It is very convenient for people that go to Salento to do different activities such as "Cocora Valley", Coffee farms, etc. The location is suitable because the main square is where the tourists take the transportation to different places around the coffee area. The staff is really friendly, always willing to help you, additionally, the included breaksfast was delicious. The breakfast is fixed, so do not expect a buffet, nevertheless, it is delicious. The check in and check out were done at the reception, and they were straightforward.
Cons: I could not stay more days in Salento :(
10.0 Excellent
Cons: The only thing that was a bit bothering in this otherwise perfect hotel was the perceived lack of privacy. We had this feeling that everything was being heard. Also the TV had barely three channels and the wifi was very slow but those are just the general conditions of Salento I suppose..
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly. The location is great. The breakfast and coffees were great.
Cons: The only thing I didn't like was that there were no windows in the room. Our room was off of a common area oh, so it didn't feel like you had much privacy.
10.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We like everything. Highly recommended. Very clean hotel, great location and beautiful staff.
6.0 Good
Pros: The breakfast was very good. It was central but quiet.
Cons: It was what we expected realistically. We were allocated a room in the quieter area which was great as in the other area it would have been exposed to noise.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was great and big, the personnel were very nice and friendly. The room was big and clean. Totally loved it.

Pros: Very gracious hostess.

Pros: Our hosstes was a wonderfull lady who understands what her guests need. She is interested in your occupation during the day and helps you to make the most of your stay in Salento. She takes care of you and makes you feel at home.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The lady owner was extremely house proud, continually cleaning up. Even made my bed after left hostel for day trips! Done my washing for one third the price other places, washed, dried neatly folded on bed when I returned in afternoon. This place perfect for solo or older travellers or even younger travelers who enjoy peace and quiet. Coffee on offer early when get up. I used kitchen to cook for myself. Everything needed is available. Lovely central lounging area. I had an extremely comfortable double bed in dorm room plenty of pillows. The shower was lovely and hot, and water is pumped out rather than dribble out like most places! Owner couldn't speak English, but we managed with my translator. Not like most other hostels, did not demand money in advance which is a bonus, because once you okay in South America, refunds almost impossible to get should one want to move on if don't like your booked stay.
Cons: Nothing.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Nothing. We were so happy we did not booked longer. Quite disappointed because the reviews at booking did not help us to find a good spot this time.
Cons: The lady who checked us in. She was not friendly. We felt like we were not welcome there. We were happy we did not book a long stay at this place. The rooms have no windows! It is smelly in the room ( I guess because of the humidity )

10.0 Excellent
Pros: In my opinion, this is by far the best hotel in the town of Salento. Extremely clean rooms, modern but keeping that cozy feeling relative to the town’s architecture. This property is attended by the owner most of the time and he makes sure every guest is satisfied and happy all the time. I will recommend this hotel to anyone at any time, and when I go back, I will not book anywhere else. Can’t forget to mention: location! It’s located in the Main Street and close to everything.
Cons: I have nothing negative to say about this hotel.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Clean and secure
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Perfectly located.
Cons: At night it was hard to sleep as there was a lot of noise from the streets.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: You cannot beat the location, this hotel is in the main street of Salento near the plaza. You can experience the magic of this town from the balconies or just stepping one foot outside the hotel. I come to Salento once every two years and this is where I will always stay. The owner is a wonderful person and you can really notice how much he appreciates his guests. The hotel couldn't be any cleaner 10/10 During higher seasons might get a little bit noisy in the balcony rooms but this wasn't any drawback for myself. If this bothers you I recommend the room without a balcony The cost of this hotel considering its location is really inexpensive
Cons: Everything was perfect
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful, friendly nice staff.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved this beautiful hotel. Great vibes and service. Very clean and comfortable and perfect location. Must stay

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Waking up in the mountains was incredible :) The hostel serves a good breakfast and the staff is amazing - huge thanks to all of them for making the experience so much better, especially Carlos and Julian!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great location with great view. Friendly staff, great place to socialize with other travellers, good vibes. they organize some activities in the hostal. I have made friends while staying here. The room is clean and basic. Shower is very hot.
Cons: The breakfast can be improved further comparing to other hostels I stayed
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very good location with beautiful garden and valley views, friendly people, nice breakfast, good facilities and options (with yoga, salsa and language lessons), good comfy bed, very clean (every day).
Cons: No window to be opened and private room on street side and close to communal kitchen so sometimes but noisy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lots of space in rooms and private bathroom! Also really fun vibe and many free classes (salsa, yoga, etc. )
7.0 Good
Pros: This is a place where you meet a lot of interesting backpackers. Everyone is friends after just a few hours... The breakfast (extra cost for people in dorms) was good with a variety to choose from. And the view in the garden is great!
Cons: The price for a dorm bed is way too high for what you get. The garden is beautiful, but there are only a few wooden chairs, nothing to relax on. When we used the sitting bags from the tv area in the garden, the staff came and took them away immediately... Unfortunately, they increased the price after my 4th night and a lot of people left and went to cheaper hostels... Almost 70'000 pesos for a dorm bed of that standard and not even including breakfast is just too much for Colombia.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Nice location, nice atmosphere.
Cons: Showers are not hot at all. We complained, nothing was done. Rooms are cold and humid. For a climate like Salento (often rainy), rooms must be more comfortable and showers should DEFINATELY by hot.
7.0 Good
Pros: Social activities, the scenery, the information available in the reception and the courtyard is lovely.
Cons: The place didn't meet our expectations, after having read brilliant stuff ratings we expected a lovely stay. The beds were very soft, and sixnr our room was next to the street you could hear everything, including the horses walking down it.. Additionally, the showers have OK pressure but don't get very hot. Finally, maybe a small detail but big for coffee fans, the breakfast coffee probably can't be considered coffee... If you decide to visit, prepare your own..

Cons: No problem At all
6.0 Good
Pros: The location is great! Close to the main square and close to the bus stop.
Cons: The bathroom was shared with two other rooms, it was always dirty. There were strange odours in the common area. There was a kitchen towel that probably hasn't been washed in years laying there, which really stank up the place. The bed was ok, the pillows were horrible.

Pros: Clean, good location, front desk staff is nice. Mattress is okay, but nothing special (it is quite short, maybe 180-190 cm). Shower with warm water is nice, but the showerhead needs replacing.
Cons: The noise on the first floor is bad. Guests are entering every 20 minutes and you can hear everything. Outside noise is also quite audible. The pillows were hard and too high, we had to change them, because we were unable to sleep on them.

5.4 Okay
Pros: Nice staff
Cons: The whole place was a construction site. Roof terrace not finished, the beds were incredibly badly made structures with sharp nails sticking out of them (!). Similar conditions in the bathroom with no mirrors. Only one power plug for a four bedroom dorm. Almost no common areas to hang out
9.2 Excellent
Pros: -the woman at the reception had the best tips regarding trips in salento! (Eg to walk the hike valle de Cocora backwards)
Cons: -put a bell on the reception, so that one has not to wait a long time and screen “Hola” every time -bathrooms should be cleaner
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The atmosphere was great ! Very helpful staff Easygoing hostel :) Breakfast bit expensive
Cons: Few things just to improve -the main door is hard to open -doesn’t have mirrors -extra electric point
6.0 Good
Pros: Easy access to town and shops/restaurants.
Cons: Rooms not very clean, bathroom smelly. Location next to a grow shop, noise all night long.
4.6 Okay
Pros: The host Valeria is really nice and helpful, and she prepares a delicious breakfast! We could change our room for no extra charge because our room didn't have windows (although we had to change it again because there was another reservation). The location of hostel is good.
Cons: Well, we tried out 3 double rooms: Two of them didn't have any windows or any other kind of ventilation! Imagine the quality of the air in those rooms! One of these two had a little permanently closed window where you get some light (but also early in the morning due to lack of curtains), but the other one didn't have any natural light at all! I know that in the description of the room it doesn't say "have a window" (former reply of host), but seriously, thats kind of natural that a room has a window, no? The dormitory rooms also don't have windows. In all of the rooms we stayed in there was not a single mirror. I don't know if the vacuum cleaner was broke, but the hostel was not clean at all. In all the rooms there were plenty of hair on the floor. When I took a shower, the sink was full of hair so the water couldn't drain, so the whole floor was under water. The room with the balcony is really noisy (but we were fine with that, Valeria told us in advance). The hostel looks like work in progress because everything is unfinished (open cables, loose switches...) I really like the host but I can not recommend the hostel and I can not understand its high rating on booking.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The general energy of the hostel was fabulous! I instantly felt at home. The art exhibition in the main hallway was sublime and provoking. The general design of the hostel was great too. The balcony has a beautiful view and is a lovely place to chill out. What really makes a place is the people: Valeria and her Abuela are absolute gems. Valeria is a superb host and a wonderful woman. Everything was easeful and great. The location is perfect- central but secluded and peaceful, also breakfast is yummy too. Highly recommend! If you are going to Salento and want to be central this is the place to stay.
7.0 Good
Pros: The lady on reception was really helpful and helpful and friendly, if you want advice on getting to the Cocora valley or a coffee farm just ask her :-)
Cons: We were here over January bank holiday weekend so there was a lot of noise from the bar next door, especially on the saturday night, luckily we had ear plugs.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Eureka is a really nice and lovely place. The rooms are comfortable and there are a quiet and chill vibe to read, drink a good coffee and feel the coffee region energy. The back roof is an amazing place with a beautifull view the mountains. Valeria, la Abuela, and Oso guy, are the best hosts you can find. Pure love in a pure place.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious rooms, amazing garden and views. Very helpful front desk at all times! Always would come back!

Cons: The wooden floor was a bit noisy on the way to the toilet.
