The Lodge At Chaa Creek - San Ignacio - Building
1
9.6 Excellent (187 reviews)
S$ 665+
Overview Reviews
Set along the banks of the Macal River and stretching towards the foothills of the Maya Mountains, Chaa Creek continues to provide unique adventure travel experiences for thousands of visitors looking for an in-depth yet civilized Belizean vacation, with a focus on Belizes ecology, natural history and vibrant multicultural society. Our wide range of accommodations allow guests to select lodgings that range from the rustic charm of the Macal River Camp to the unparalleled luxury of the new Ix Chel Luxury Rainforest Villas, whose stunning views, private Jacuzzis, plunge pools and amenities such as the attention of a personal butler have set new standards for excellence in a pristine natural environment.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic eco resort with multiple level$ of lodging. Tours can be pricey but, the level of care and attention to detail validates the cost. The on site activities are a wonderful added value. We also found the staff to be some of the best parts of our experience at Chaa Creek. Would definitely go back.
Cons: We eat a whole foods, plant based, vegan diet. Chaa Creek was extremely accommodating to our requests. Our one suggestion would be to educate the kitchen on the depth of what “whole foods, plant based” means. They would find a very receptive crowd and it would tie in nicely to their eco friendly message.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The site is absolutely beautiful and manicured. The rooms are really clean and tastefully decorated. The dining area is gorgeous and the food is tasty. The guides are really knowledgeable and friendly. I would really recommend the visit to Barton Creek and Xunantunich.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything (facility, service, comfort of villa)
Cons: I love the secludedness as a getaway but it is a lot of driving for sights closer to San Ignacio city.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location and the attention to detail on all fronts is amazing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful setting. Very relaxed atmosphere. Plenty activities to do in the area. Great to have your morning coffee delivered to your room!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Really a cool place. People here treat you like Royalty. Lovely place!
Cons: The road getting here is very rough. I would recommend a truck or 4 wheel drive .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed warmers
Cons: It rained most of our stay
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I have travelled all over the world and this is by far the best place I’ve ever stayed. From the homegrown, local food, to the gorgeous rooms, grounds, massage facilities it is all incredible. What puts the cherry on the top is the staff. They are the most friendly, attentive people I’ve ever met. They all know you by name. It was sad to leave because I’m going to miss all the staff!
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: staf at the breakfast
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Can't complain about the location and the situation of each villa. A very special place where the river was favoured over the swimming pool for a dip. Staff great and design of cabins well thought out and very comfortable. Great not to have a TV anywhere to tempt the children.
Cons: We were then in August, and wasn't made aware of the level of biting insects on site, more in room repellent would have been helpful.
Ka'ana Resort & Spa - San Ignacio - Building
3
9.3 Excellent (215 reviews)
S$ 419+

7.9 Good
Pros: The premises and the staff at Kaana were really nice and welcoming. We liked the garden and also the rooms. The bar serves good drinks.
Cons: The restaurant is average at best and also way overpriced. Uninspiring and nothing to remember. There is no real shuttle to town and you cannot walk. Tours are good but also really expensive compared to prices in town (even for private tours). In relation to Kaana, San Pedro is dead cheap. The overall value for money needs to improve.
7.1 Good
Pros: Staff was very good, helpful and friendly.
Cons: You can get anything respectively they will organise, but the prices they ask for are to high in my view.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The property is wonderful. The staff is great and the rooms are very high standard.
Cons: The cost of services on site is very high compared to the local market. Day trips are twice as expensive when booked with the hotel as when booked directly with the tour guides.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Nice room and pool
Cons: Really expensive and a bad service compare to the price paid. Food really average while really expensive, and a lot of things from the menu not available. We ate a lot better in restaurants in town. For the time we were there none of the days a ride from the hotel to town was available so we had to order and pay a taxi everyday. They charged us double the price for a shuttle service from Belize city to Ka’ana compare to what we payed on the way back with another company (217 USD compare to 100 USD). Also the available tours are almost double the price as when you book them at for example TripAdvisor or a company in town.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: So much to like at this resort! The most impressive thing about ka'ana is the customer service. It is second to none. If you go to Belize and are on the mainland you have to stay at Ka'ana.
Cons: No worries you like the whole experience
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel exceeded our expectations in every possible way. The service provided by every member of staff was always above and beyond, every interaction we had with staff members made us feel like the only guests at the hotel. The food was excellent. The drinks were delicious. I cannot speak highly enough of this exceptional hotel.
7.5 Good
Pros: Setting, garden, staff
Cons: Too much road noise!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was the best hostel that I have stayed in for my entire trip through Central America. Great kitchen, great rooms, clean, near downtown. The best part is the family that owns it. They helped me figure out what to do while I was here and how to get there etc. Which taxi to take, which tour company to book. And a hot shower! I would recommend this hostel in a heartbeat!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a lovely stay at J&R Guesthouse. The owners made us feel very welcome and were very helpful and knowledgeable regarding tour operators and places to see. There's a shared kitchen that you can use to prepare your own food. Laundry service is available as well. The guesthouse is a 3-minute walk from the centre of San Ignacio. I'd definitely recommend this place and would totally stay here again!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely clean, comfortable place to stay. Kitchen facilities were excellent. A family run business and everyone was very friendly and helpful. Good hot, spacious showers.
Cons: Outside noise, but that was out of the control of the family.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were really nice and helpful with any question or request from our side. We felt secure since there was always someone from them nearby. The place was clean and organized, the room was big enough and there is also a terrace and a fully equipped kitchen. It is located in a calm street, but just a couple of minutes on foot from the center.
Cons: The internet connection was a bit weak inside our room, but on the terrace it was significantly better.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Awesome central location, in a neighborhood but minutes away from everything. Nice helpful people. Great value. Nice to have access to a kitchen. Guest house itself was quiet.
Cons: No air conditioning but there's a couple fans. The neighborhood was a bit noisy for the holidays but that's part of the authentic experience!
6.7 Good
Pros: A few minutes walk outside of the center of town. The family was very helpful.
Cons: The room is very basic, you get what you pay for.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We really enjoyed our stay in the J&R Guest house! The place is perfectly located, cosy and comfortable. It is run by a lovely family being extremely friendly and helpful!! Thanks a lot! Highly recommended!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts are friendly, full of information and simply amazing. I enjoyed my stay with them.

Mystic River Resort - San Ignacio - Building
5
9.2 Excellent (152 reviews)
S$ 322+

Featured amenities include multilingual staff, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It is the jungle, next to a beautiful river. I loved waking up of the sounds of the birds. The flora and a fauna is amazing.
Cons: It was supposed to be an eco lodge therefore, I despised that they use plastic straws. The owner did mention that they were compostable, but these plastics are only commercially compoststable. Which there is none in Belize. More waste in the environment from an “eco” lodge.
7.5 Good
Pros: We have spent 2 nights at the Mystic River Resort and it's very beautiful: the staff is friendly, rooms are comfortable and have a nice view to the river and you feel in peace in the middle of the Belizean jungle. I would like however to share with you some tips that I would have loved to know before booking: 1. The hotel is 6 miles up from San Ignacio in a very bumpy road. Once you leave town you won't find anything around the hotel and every time you would want to go back it will cost you 27USD. Please remember doing your grocery shopping before getting to the hotel 2. There's no TV nor WiFi in the rooms (WiFi available only in the common areas). This is not a problem by itself but you should be aware of this 3. You will have to have diner in the hotel restaurant (as mentioned above there's nothing around the hotel). The quality is very good, I must say almost European quality. But the prices are also European: don't expect to pay the same prices you have pay elsewhere in Belice as you will pay almost 20USD for a meal plus 10% plus 12% of taxes 4. Transfers and activities booked in the hotel are much more expensive than booked by your own. To give you an example ATM excursion 110USD vs 150USD in the hotel, Transfer from San Ignacio to the border 12USD vs 63USD with the hotel Don't get me wrong it was a lovely stay but please take this into consideration because your budget could suffer.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property, accomodations, and wonderful staff.
Cons: A little ways out of town.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful resort located right along the river with great views, relaxing vibe, and friendly staff.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was so attentive and friendly. I can’t even describe the level of relaxation in this gorgeous setting. Relaxing after a long week with a cocktail and goat cheese plate at the bar was simply lovely. Starting my day by sipping my coffee and gazing out at the massive trees and hearing the rain fall and run down to the river was exactly what I needed.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The communication and location and restaurant and bar in fab location. We stayed in a cloud 9 suite which was quiet and private very modern and clean canoed down to san Ignacio, fab all drivers to and from were very good birds such as Acari toucans, Mot-Mots and Keel Billed Toucans, humming birds and more seen regularly around the property and on the bird table outside the restaurant orchids and planting around the gardens was lovely All the staff were friendly and helpful if a bit rushed on our first night when they were struggling a bit with the amount of people to look after - after that we had great service
Cons: You really are stuck in having to eat on site which makes it more expensive although the food was excellent apart from our first night when there was no room for us to eat in the restaurant so we had to eat in the bar and the food that night wasn’t great. But all other food was excellent. I also had hoped there might be yoga regularly to join in but you have to book and pay for a minimum of 4 people to do it
8.0 Excellent
Pros: It is well run. Staff is efficient and friendly. The grounds are well kept and beautiful.
Cons: The mosquito’s were intolerable. My son and I left covered in bites. It made our stay very challenging. Disappointed in the very limited options available to eat and found it over priced based on what we got. Having said that...they were very accommodating in making an effort to provide something for us as we are vegan.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The resort feels like a personal jungle retreat. The free river tubing and canoeing were fun. On the property we went for jungle hikes, saw toucans, iguanas, and a monkey. We laid in hammocks over looking the river and ate AMAZING food prepared by the in house chef. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing (or romantic) getaway.
Cons: The property is higher up the hill on the river on a mostly unpaved road. This wasn’t a problem for us, and the staff arrange taxis up and down; it was just an unexpected cost for us.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location was right on the river and everything was so beautiful.
Cons: The rooms didn't have air conditioning. I know it's the jungle so it's ok, but I was uncomfortable.

Pros: We would return here in a minute! The hotel and pool are absolutely lovely! Definitely get a balcony room with chairs and hammock. The staff are very warm and caring! Opportunity for iguana and bird watching tours right on property and Mayan ruins and adventure tours easily arranged through the hotel. Wonderful 6 day stay! Restaurant has great food!
Cons: Absolutely nothing!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Pool and location in walking distance to downtown San Ignacio
Cons: A bit disorganized.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very friendly. Pool was great for the kids.
Cons: Food service is slow but this is true throughout Belize.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is the perfect location! Just a short walk down the hill to city center. AND walking distance to Cahal Pech. Food was good, friendly staff. While in town make sure to take the cooking class with William at Rainforest Haven Inn and the chocolate tour at AJAW.
Cons: Small & quaint
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was in a great location, which allowed us to explore the area very easily. It sits above the downtown area of San Ignacio, but it is still within walking distance. If you don't feel like walking, then taxis are cheap. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful and the facilities are very comfortable with a great pool and outdoor dining area.
Cons: The hotel was under construction, which definitely took away from the ambiance. We didn't loud experience any early morning construction, but the hotel wasn't looking its best.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property, close to downtown. Staff is very attentive and friendly.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The food was so good. The restaurant is known for its steak but even the pizza was good. The staff is amazing, they somehow remember your name. It's incredible. The location is nice as its within walking distance to town & Cahal Pech Mayan Ruin the tour guide at the ruin was very informative. We stayed in the Regal room and it was very nice.
Cons: There are stairs everywhere so it wouldn't be a good location for anyone that has a hard time with stairs.
7.0 Good
Pros: Comfortable. Good beds Great concierge & well organized tours although expensive.
Cons: There was no choice of pillows. The walkup the hill to the resort The restaurant food was overpriced & mediocre The resort should let guests wander the whole estate.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The resort is adjacent to a forest and many creatures were in residence from iguanas to toucans. The bar and restaurant were great serving quality drinks and food from friendly staff. Everyone working here is happy and so helpful. We enjoyed the tennis court, pool, and iguana preserve. We also booked a tour to Tikal that was a highlight of our trip.
Cons: The beds do not have motion control support mattresses so you feel every movement of your partner. Small matter really.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Service

Pros: As a lone female traveller the Western Guesthouse felt safe and it was close to walk from the bus terminal and to all the main restaurants etc. It was clean and comfortable with good WiFi and even cable television! There are also laundry facilities. It was nice to sit on the terrace in the porch swing and there are also hammocks. Hugo was a fantastic host and he was very welcoming. I couldn’t have asked for more.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The shared kitchen was beautiful - huge with full stove and fridge, fruit and a water cooler to fill your bottle up for the day. Super quiet, rarely heard anyone around.
Cons: Mattresses were a bit worn down, but not too terribly. Could have used a thicker cover on the single bed but our fault for not asking, I'm sure they'd have been more than happy to provide one if we'd asked!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The whole ambiance of the guesthouse excellent
Cons: Couldnt get the remotes to.function was only able to look at one channel
8.3 Excellent
Pros: All utilities are in proper function. In very close walking distance to the Main Street. Hostal manager is super nice and helpful.

Pros: Location was perfect - two minute walk to the central street. Lots of great restaurants nearby. The room was very large and clean, bathroom was nice, there was air-conditioning, and the staff were great :) The rooftop patio had a great view of the town, and we did both the hot sauce and rum tastings available at the hotel both of which I would recommend!
Cons: For light sleepers, there was a lot of noise starting early in the morning that woke us up a few times. Otherwise everything was great.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: basic, but excellent. aircon, 2 big beds in room, close to amenities, hotel staff VERY helpful. VERY happy.
Cons: no complaints
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was such a lovely facility. The suite we rented was a full 2 bedroom apartment. It has a softer fun rum tasting on site and an amazing cooking class. I cannot begin to thank them all. The location is perfect too - walking distance to the core so you can go grocery shopping at the market and walk to most of the best restaurants. If you want to rent a room, their shared kitchen is fully stocked and the shared balcony has a beautiful view!
Cons: Honestly nothing. It was perfect.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location and good staff. Room cleaned daily
Cons: I know it seems petty.but doors badly fitted making it really difficult to get to handles and to lock them. Bedside lamp didn't work
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was super friendly and more than eager to make our stay remarkable. The rum tasting hosted here is a must when visiting Belize. The hotel location is right in the heart of San Ignacio with enough distance from the bustle of the city to be peaceful. The rooftop lounge provided hours of relaxing reprieve.
Cons: That we couldn’t stay longer.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Entire stuff is extremely nice and helpful. The hotel is located in an amazing area so you can enjoy hiking and a day in the private creek pools. Lots of activities around:) Also the food in the hotel was very good and in reasonable price. We would definitively come back here.
Cons: Really nothing to complain about.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was wonderful. The cabins were comfy and well-equipped. There is really nice network of hiking trails and the trails are beautiful and well-maintained, though many of the trails need to be driven to.
Cons: The environment is not totally as anticipated. We expected a bit more biodiversity than we encountered, but the area is still nice. The menu at the restaurant was also quite pricey and there was some confusion as to whether or not breakfast was included. The lodge is rather difficult to get to and one does need a 4x4.

Cons: My husband and I agree that there is nothing we could complain about. Chena also asked us daily if there was anything additional we needed.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Friendly hostess. The dining area and location - perfect for Xunantunich. Good food for the genre.
Cons: Rooms were poor for the price... Lighting dark. Water cold. Lots of insects and bugs in the rooms. They were modest for the price.
7.9 Good
Pros: The owner is great, and makes you feel like family. She will arrange everything during your stay! And food is very good too!
Cons: Everything was ok, but just note that it is a place in the middle of jungle, so you might encounter insects in your room even if its very clean, and you might get cold shower.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved floating on the river. The scenery was beautiful and the grounds were very well manicured. The staff was lovely, helpful and attentive. The outdoor restaurant was so enjoyable and the food delicious.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Chena, the owner was so helpful and a pleasure to be around. She took us with her to places we’d never have gone on our own. Staff were friendly and eager to help with any small thing. Home cooked food was plentiful and delicious. Location was beautiful on a river.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: the location - not right in St. Ignacio town but a short 5 min walk over the bridge so it was quiet and convenient. Huge room, lots of space, TV with lots of channels and AC worked well. Comfortable bed and pillow. The owner William also runs the BEST and most reliable shuttle services in Belize don't hesitate to contact the hotel even if you're just looking for shuttle services.
Cons: mosquitoes in the room - took a few hours killing them all, the shower gel dispenser was broken so I had to scoop out the shower gel from the top. One temperature for showers so don't expect you'll get warm shower all the time. Dead cockroaches under the sink when I arrived. Tiny red ants on the wall but this was expected. a large full size mirror would have been nice
4.0 Okay
Cons: We went to check in and no one was available. The entire place was closed and locked. We ended up cancelling our reservation and went to a different resort.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Communal kitchen facilities were helpful. Large room and quiet neighbourhood. Working aircon and cable television.
Cons: Very dirty, dead insects in the bed and bathroom, floors dirty. Door didn't lock properly and no safe for our valuables. Bathroom light connects to another light which illuminates the bedroom so anyone going to the toilet during the night lights up the whole room and wakes everyone up. Check in hours are strange (11am-3pm) and no communication from the property before we arrived. We were stuck outside for 30 mins with no way to contact the property because the staff had left and locked up the whole place when we arrive at 5pm. WiFi was unreliable. Slightly further from town but not an unreasonable walking distance.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very good value for the money. AC was sterling. The whole place was very convenient and well thought out. Extremely helpful staff.
Cons: WiFi was weak
5.8 Okay
Pros: The property is air conditioned
Cons: Bed has plastic cover, and we never saw the staff on the property.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Central location, 2 minutes to bus station, near to everything, restaurants, shops, market of San Ignacio. Clean room, friendly staff.
Cons: No place to put luggage, windows is open to a wall where all night you hear noise from some air conditioning
8.3 Excellent
Pros: As advertised. Good location. Needed to stay one night and it got the job done.
Cons: Bathrooms were small
7.1 Good
Pros: Great front desk service
Cons: Bathroom had a constant negative smell. The bed was very rough. Breakfast was lame. Coffee was nasty.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It was incredibly cheap and exactly in the city center. It’s no-frills, but it was clean and had all we needed.
Cons: As I said, no frills, so no coffee maker in room and the coffee at breakfast is instant coffee. But when you’re in Belize, who needs to sit around the hotel sipping coffee anyway?
4.0 Okay
Pros: The staff was friendly and did everything they could, within the limitations of the available resources, to accommodate me. Indeed, they were most typically very responsive.
Cons: The room had little in the way of amenities, particularly, given it was for two people. There was no chair, no place to hang a jacket, or store clothes. Also, the breakfast was not worthy of the name.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: great location friendly staff, got recommentations for restaurants, stores etc fairly big room mini refridgerator in the room
Cons: the restaurant across the street was a little noisy till 11pm or so

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, a 5 minute walk to downtown/ cheap cab ride if it's raining, the staff was helpful in calling taxis for us when needed. It was nice to be away from the noise of downtown and surrounded by nature. Good air conditioning. The Inn is a beautiful place to relax with lots of fruit trees (yummy mango), a resident parrot, friendly pets and a tailoring business on the main floor which came in handy when we needed a garment sewn. The owner refused to let us pay for the extra service. Very nice people. You don't get to experience this kind of beauty downtown.
Cons: It would have been nice to have had a walking path to the river, but I heard there were plans for that.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: The host was very nice and welcoming
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location was good- short walk to the centre of town. Rooms were cleaned and tidy every day. Filtered water was provided free of charge 24/7. Fresh coffee was made on the balcony outside our room bright and early every morning. The staff was really helpful in booking tours for us. They even let us leave our vehicle parked out front for a few days while we were travelling in Guatemala (we didn't take our car across the border)! Would definitely recommend!
Cons: Breakfast wasn't offered. But the staff recommended a great breakfast spot in town- Pop's!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The property is beautiful. If you are a bird watcher, you will LOVE it.
7.9 Good
Pros: The parrots
Cons: Noisy wake up

5.0 Okay
Pros: The resort is very nice and reception staff is very welcoming.
Cons: The room was really small and the bed was tiny and uncomfortable. It didn't match with the pictures seen on booking.com
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is excellent, close to downtown but far enough away that it is quiet. Our room over looked the town, a beautiful view. Bar was fun and good pricing..... food was good with great value
6.7 Good
Pros: Great view over the town and hills. Nice pools, easy walk to ruins and local restaurants
Cons: The villa suites are a little worn and outdated, the yours are overpriced vs. Other options, and food and drink is really expensive (but you can always walk into town or just down the steep hill to some nice local places for half the price). But very comfortable place to stay and felt safe so don’t let this put you off too much
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: never stepped foot on it :-/ sorry for the bad reviews but bookings left me with a bad attitude.... I can’t seem to get over it :-/
Cons: like I said earlier never been there .... and was charged, simply because they stated their rules and they could not be reversed them for the life of me .... spent a good week trying to clear it up now I am like .... never again!! ;-( such a time consuming and unfortunate honest mistake haz helped me realize bookings is a ghost service and has really no control over anything besides perhaps gaining from others honest to God mistakes ..... Amen
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location, view and friendly helpful staff.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location and beautiful views
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cozy and comfortable. Food was great! Staff were unbelievable!!
Cons: N/A
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The resort is at the top of the hill, so it's a bit of a walk to/from the town, but not a big deal. I walked to and from town every day I was there and it was fine. Good workout walking up the hill!! The view from the resort is amazing! Awesome sunsets. I was in one of the villas and enjoyed the room. Nice having a hammock to hang out in. The staff is amazing! Definitely the best part of my stay. The staff felt like family right away. I was there for ten days and was on a first name basis with the staff almost immediately. Great people! Very helpful with everything.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: The staff at Cahal Pech were so friendly and accommodating, they were like family! The tours they set up for us we great!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The kindness of the people
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Clean rooms, friendly staff, and perfectly tucked away in the jungle. Great breakfast. AC and hot water worked reliably! We had a rental car and it was only a 5 minute drive to the downtown area, which was perfect!
5.0 Okay
Pros: The location in the jungle was beautiful. The restaurant was overpriced but quality food. 10$USD for breakfast!
Cons: This is a wellness center. They don’t sell alcohol which isn’t stated anywhere. The walls are very thin and you can hear everything, people are there to relax so if you’re even a tiny bit loud they complain. The pool isn’t what is advertised in the photos. I’m sure it’s great for a certain type of traveler looking for a detox wellness retreat. We needed a night stop over and for the price we paid we were totally disappointed.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The room was great - really loved the ceiling/roof, felt very open and airy and the shower was hot and powerful. Food was tasty at the restaurant and the staff were very friendly and helpful! The grounds were beautiful and the swimming pool was cool and refreshing after a hot walk into town. Free water, coffee and tea at any time was really appreciated.
Cons: Chairs on the porch were very creaky! Would be nice if there was a second hammock, maybe one which is detachable across the other side of the porch so two people can use at the same time.
5.4 Okay
Pros: It is seated right in the middle of the jungle. Not close to town, but if you are looking for remote and beautiful, this is a good start. And the staff could not be nicer! And the excursions were phenomenal! I will always use them for excursions when we return!
Cons: Far more rustic than it appears in photos. Far more. We felt duped by the photos here and on its website. It was extremely dirty, and the widows only had ill-fitting screens, no glass. The bathroom had the cleanliness level of a public restroom. And while the cabin looked nice in the photos, there were bits of caulk, tape, black plastic etc all over the place holding it together. THAT SAID, if you are looking for a rustic, camping-type experience, this would be PERFECT for that.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, modern, nice vibe. Some nice areas to relax, including hammocks. Free purified water and self-serve coffee. Complementary juice on arrival. Good to have a pool - though very cold when we were there!
Cons: Very far from central San Ignacio, with nothing nearby (no shops or restaurants). On-site restaurant closes very early and is quite expensive, so we had a long walk in the dark, some people might find it a bit dodgy.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful spot up out of the town, surrounded in trees and has a really nice jungle feel to it. Nice pool and friendly staff.
Cons: Photos do not match reality. Small room and outdated. Breakfast very overpriced for what you’re getting.

7.9 Good
Pros: The premises and the staff at Kaana were really nice and welcoming.

9.0 Excellent
