10.0 Excellent
Pros: The experience was exceptional. The staff was friendly and helpful. The family room was just like i expected, like the one in the photo. I took the one which was children friendly. 1 King size bed separately with connecting door and the kids room was kids friendly with decoration - have 1 bunk bed and extra pull over mattress. Has 2 large bean bags and Wooden cabinet mean which is kids friendly. My 2 kids, 3 and 7years really love it. The room can actually fit 4adults and kids. I took the one with Sea view. The view was breathtaking. On arrival, the room was ready with compliment drinks, fruits...so welcoming. Got small size robes meant for kids and slippers too. I am actually amazed with the in house toiletry kits - it was all from L'Occitane brand! What a Luxury! Not to mention the interior of the building - extraordinary - High Class. The main reason we came to the resort was for the water park, as we want to spend quality time with the kids. Since there is a lot of restriction flying off from the country. So yeah, Shangri La TAH is the place. Its quite pricey, but its totally worth the money spend!. they also have Kids Zone area, and provided with different activities every day. My 7year old daughter join the Scientist activity where they went out and catch butterfly and other insect!. She love it. Fyi, the resort also provide baby sitting service and other outdoor activities Well i can write on and on and on... To summarize being in Shangri TA Resort had given us unforgettable experience. Really recommended. Will definitely return back.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel great service...
Cons: Espresso in large mug... prefer small cup size for espresso;-) Italian restaurant was gone... remember it had a great wine list... unsure of alternative western kitchen dining options for couples as we only stayed for one night layover
4.2 Okay
Cons: Unable to change the date nor cancel the booking, due to the coronavirus.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: we loved water bucket
7.0 Good
Pros: We were upgraded because there were only single beds for us that they could join together and our daughter's extra bed had no charge - we were happy with that. The buffet breakfast had a very wide selection, eastern and western which is a huge plus point. The taste of the food was above average and in some cases very nice (allowances made for mass cooking) but the hot chocolate could be improved (I think it was the quality of milk). I loved the fresh pomelo fruit! The hotel activities were also very entertaining for my family especially the cooking classes, paddle boarding and for our daughter, games like the watermelon eating, coconut bowling competition and daily water balloon catapulting and water slides. She had a ball! We also enjoyed the band in the night very much at the lounge, we actually attended every night we were there, they sang most of our requests and we built a good rapport with them. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, we loved to chat to them about their native tribal culture and they were happy to share their family history. Those were the highlights of our stay at Shangrila Tanjung Aru hotel.
Cons: The scenery of the beautiful pool was destroyed by the ugly orange buoys. A suggestion would be to have a separate pool for those who cannot swim and are wearing life jackets and where those buoys would be necessary. I understand that the majority of your clients can't swim, but the stunning pool view was spoilt by the buoys and life jackets.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff and the location
Cons: The breakfast most be intentional

2.0 Mediocre
Cons: Upon my arrival, I have paid the amount for the room and when I checked out the staff told me that it was a deposit and will be refund. However, when I checked my account, the transaction showed the amount has already deducted on the 9th Mar 2020 during my check in. Now I was double charged due to the mistake made by the staff. It will be good to check before giving assurance to me that the deposit will be refund. Secondly, the cups in the room were not clean and the TV wasn't functioning well. :( I was disappointed.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Great front desk and concierge services. They were all very pleasant and helpful. The beds are meticulously made, clean and comfy
Cons: The room is comfortable and clean but needs to be updated. Eg the kettle & coffee making facilities were hidden in a drawer instead of out in the open for guests to see. If the staff didn't tell me about it, I wouldn't have known. The pool is also not great.
6.0 Good
Pros: *the view
Cons: *don't book a tour to the islands thru the tour office in the hotel. Their tour is a scam. Overcharging (compared to offices next to the jetty which is 10min away) and promised a bbq lunch which wasn't provided and at the end the driver didn't come and forced to use grab to go back to the hotel. Couldn't find the tour office employeee for 2 days to tell her about what happened and the hotel reception didn't take any action when I told them. They should not allow such offices in their facility. *the breakfast is good but repeated. *you need to cross a road to get to the watet front. *No balcony

Pros: Location and room was large and comfortable
Cons: Very helpful
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We particullary enjoyed the launge in the evening, but also the gym and swimming pool. The staff was very helpfull and nice. The location is Close to city center and is a good base for adventures (island hopping, mountain trips)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Even though the hotel is beautifully designed and has many nice feautures such as hotel pool and spa, my highlight was clearly the very friendly and helpful staff! Terima kasih for the great time at your resort!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel in the center of the city Clean and spacious room Really good restaurants in the hotel Great value for price
Cons: Forgot to give back my deposit (I know, I should have remembered)
6.0 Good
Pros: breakfast was good. location was amazing as well. Was really close to the jetty and key tourist areas in KK.
Cons: Staff was not up to par for a good chain. We were trying to book a trip and they were not helpful. Rather pushing responsibility to the next shift. Also, there was no one at the pool; we had to come in to look for a waiter.

4.2 Okay
Pros: Location near the airport
Cons: This hotel need to refurbish. Sofa, carpet and curtain were so old and stained. Children pools were so dirty too.. Totally overpriced
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great view to ocean and nice facilities! Best swimmingpools ever!!
Cons: Could’t swim in the ocean due to jelly fish, 2 kids slept in the same king bed and it wasn’t very helpful from the sleeping point of view, no room enough for sleeping. Extra bed would have cost 170 RM per night so quite expensive!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: I have visited this resort a number of times. I always enjoy the fantastic swimming pool facilities, the gardens and the gym. Room is good although beginning to show its age a bit. Staff were busy as it was Chinese New Year but they were generally friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast offered a large choice of foods (many Asian options) however I feel the quality of the food isn’t as good as when I first visited. Nice views from resort.
Cons: Bathroom floor could have been cleaner. Price of the resort is expensive and I don’t feel that it has the 5* exclusivity touch about it anymore. More of a package holiday setting for groups of tourists.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, great place to stay
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Amazing resort with great pools and beautiful garden surrounds, breakfast was amazing and plenty of variety. Rooms are decently sized and clean.
Cons: Pool guards are overly strict, gym was a fair walk at the Sutera Harbour Sister Facilities.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Really nice resort with an amazing pool. A lot of food choices that were not unreasonably priced. Our room was spacious and had a balcony which faced the harbour, this was very nice. The decor was a bit dated. The hotel is by the Sutera harbour which made island hoping very convenient. The Spa facilities was really good too. I will stay here again.
Cons: There were not enough sun lounger chairs by the pool. Although the hotel has a beach and access to the sea, you can't swim here (this was not a problem, just worth noting)
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Pictured seaview from the bedroom
6.0 Good
Pros: It has great swimming pools and ocean view.
Cons: It's really old and beds are also too small.

7.1 Good
Pros: Staffs were super friendly and they serve with a smile. Location was amazing. Close to everything.
Cons: Pipe broke then my whole toilet flooded after it was fixed. Food was meh. Nothing extraordinary and refills were so slow. Too many Korean travellers that were noisy and rude. Honestly, was disappointed with the price I paid.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room view and swimming pool and food were food. Perfect for a couples
Cons: Very good
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I like the location and the view. Sunset view is to die for
Cons: In sufficient number of restaurants. There is only a coffee house to contend with
7.1 Good
Pros: Water front and good for swim with younger children
Cons: Facility is old and need maintanance
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Amazing pool and great breakfast buffet. Poolside bar staff are very friendly. Oppulent hotel perfect for golfers.
Cons: Didn't think the dinner buffet was good value and it didn't have the 'Fiesta' vibe. We booked a twin room and received an upgrade to a suite but there weren't two beds. Not a locatio n for those who prefer to walk to destinations. Located on a busy highway meaning you need to either shuttle or taxi to everything.
3.0 Mediocre
Cons: My door was trouble. 3 times, i and my friend went to front desk to open it. Also one time, a fuse box is down. I fixed it myself.
6.0 Good
Pros: Skybar... Room... Buffet
Cons: Very noisy from Chinese customers until 3am!!! Airplanes making a lot of noise all night. Cars outside making lots of noise wheel spinning

Pros: Rooms and environment is very nice. I loved the nature of the hotel. Personel is very friendly and helpful. There are also fun activities in the hotel such as jungle walking, diving.
Cons: Restaurants are good but too expensive considering the quality.
1.0 Poor
Pros: Breakfast
Cons: My Starbucks cup was broken by staff, and the sea is really normal
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and accommodating staff Comfortable bed, huge bathtub
Cons: Hot water doesn’t last enough to fill the bath
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved it! I went with an old friend and we had a perfect weekend. The service was fantastic, the resort was beautiful (and so was the beach), and there were just enough activities to keep us busy when we weren't reading by the pool. Looking forward to going back.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely incredible place. More of an experience than just a hotel or resort. The whole place, the people, everything was beyond what I could have imagined. More expensive than other places we stayed in Sabah but 100% worth it. Would also like to highlight the individuals that made it all the more special. Linda, Jenny, Dickson and the chef in the cooking class were fantastic and really added a lovely personal touch that made us feel so welcome during our time there.
Cons: On the last night was kept up by the sound of a rat biting and scratching in the floorboards above. Obviously taking into account how natural our surroundings are, we were fine with this the majority of the time. Only this spoilt sleep on the last night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! The check in process at the jetty, the staff, the resort itself, the room, the pool, the beach, the activities.. The food was also great. I honestly didnt have anything I dislike. Just remember to Reserve what you want to do and/or the place you want to eat early to avoid disappointment.
Cons: The only thing I felt I had to "deal" with were mosquitos. It's a tropical island afterall. Perhaps another thing would be the distance to the spa.. Perhaps they could consider providing some sort of shuttle service to go all the way to the end of the resort.
7.0 Good
Cons: the shower has now shower head...... I spent two nights there and I paid for breakfast, but one of your staff only brings special drinks to those white folks, what the heck??? Both me and my friend don't feel very comfortable being treated like this -.-
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Well expected for a 5 star resort. Service, room, facility and the island. Overall we have a great time there! Will definitely come back again.
Cons: We booked Kinabalu Villa but was put at Canopy Villa. We stayed here before thats why its look so familiar. Since its only 1 nite and you have to walks up and down the staircase. We decided to just enjoy our stay instead. We got great view of the island as a bonus. So no complaint.

Pros: The room was clean and the bed very comfy. The bath had a fantastic shower. Enjoyed the beautiful view from the rooftop terrace with kindest & very attentive staff. Breakfast was good with various local dishes to be ordered from the menu. Staff at reception & breakfast were lovely and most helpful. Just a short stroll from tourist office & Sunday Market. Will definitely be back!
Cons: Everything was great!

Pros: The room was clean, bed was comfy. The view from my room was spectacular. Staff was friendly. Overall the experience was excellent.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great rooftop pool and very good restaurant.
7.9 Good
Pros: Good location. Comfortable bed. Nice view. Friendly and helpful staff.
Cons: We were given an unclean room with disgusting toilet, the front desk didn’t know the room was not clean, but we got upgraded to a bigger room later. The water was not hot in the evening, it works again in the morning. There was blockage in the sink and it went away after some time. Overall there is quality issue with the water facility.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Had a great stay at the Mercure hotel! The staff was super friendly and attentive. The rooftop pool was a nice way to cool off in the afternoon/evening and the sunset view was amazing from here. The boat to the different islands is a 5-10 min. walk and there are plenty of nice restaurants in the area for lunch/dinner. My room was very spacious with a comfortable/large bed and all the facilities I needed (and even more).
Cons: Just 2 minor points: the breakfast was okay but not very diverse. Would have loved to get some pancakes and croissants every day. Also a tip for the yoghurt: the portions are very small (just one spoon and it's gone) and it currently isn't being cooled. My room was on the 16th floor, it was supposed to be a 'quiet' room, the first few days this was the case, but during the weekend there was a lot of noise from the street (cars/motorcycles). I had to wear my earplugs for those 2 nights.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are huge and clean. The living room and master bedroom boasts a breathtaking view of the sea.
Cons: Breakfast spread was limited. Food was almost the same for the 4 days of breakfast.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The location It’s clean Has hand sanitiser Big bed
Cons: The poor heater system The car park system was too slow A lot of noise from construction site

Pros: Staff were fantastic to deal with. We stayed during the full covid lockdown of Borneo, everything was closed and off limits but the staff provided great food via room service. The location is perfect, you’re right on the beach. Beautiful sunsets every day and a lovely beach to swim at.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Enviroment
Cons: Nothing
6.0 Good
Pros: The hotel is placed on a real beautiful beach far away from the busy city. Great. The rooms are nice and clean. Hotel staff is friendly and helpful. The massage was very enjoyable and with the hotel voucher affordable.
Cons: There are nearly no sunbeds ( only 2) at the pools and not one at all at the beach. When I checked in, I had to confirm that I would behave like a normal adult. No spitting, .... and your are remembered all the time, at the pool chairs, in the elevator... That makes me think about, how other people might behave at this hotel. The ambiente of the restaurant and breakfast room is very poor. It's a tent and it seems to be permanent. Breakfast is max. a 2 star hotel, but not 4. All special rooms, lobby, massage rooms are placed in appartements. Not very representative and poor too for a 4 star hotel.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: From the moment we arrived until the taxi picked us up from Jettleson Point, everything was superb. Every member of staff was friendly, professional and willing to help make our stay an enjoyable relaxining experience. The palm villa was probably the best hotel room we have ever stayed in. The food was flawless full of taste and loads of vatiety. We ate in both restaurants during our stay a total of three superb meals. Breakfast was as good as it gets with several cooked to order options. I have no problen highly recommending this excellent resort
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was amazing, it was lovely to stay above water and the staff were exceptional. Additional items like the free cocktail were a lovely bonus. Overall we had a fantastic stay and wish it could have been longer
Cons: Continue to work on picking up the rubbish every day around the villas and on the beach to make the experience as pristine as possible
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The peacefulness of the resort would make even the most uptight person relax. All the facilities were grouped together for easy access while the chalets were an enjoyable short boardwalk away. The food served at the restaurants was the best I’ve had for a long time. This was a very pleasant surprise considering the relatively remote location. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, especially Karl the resort manager.
Cons: There was a lot of plastic floating on the water. This was no fault of the resort, the island acts as a trap for the region’s floating debris.
7.0 Good
Pros: room is nice and good view. beach very nice but i wished they can destroy all the jelly fish.
Cons: Price too expensive for food, if delicious its fine, but the food just okey for me.. for breakfast the food is too limited choices and not delicious at all.. kuah mee tawar.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about our stay was amazing - especially the breathtaking location and the amazing staff!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect! Very good restaurant;)
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful scenery and setting Set in a marine conservation area, the resort is doing it's part for the marine life and local eco system and environment. Lovely, friendly staff who always spend the time to talk to and get to know their guests. Great service and good quality of food in restaurants, especially in the Macac for breakfast (those coconut pancakes!
Cons: A little bit difficult moving off the island, but to be expected. The hotel is off the coast of Kota Kinabalu and the only transport boats are organised and scheduled by the hotel.. So fixed timings. Some of the gloss had worn off a bit, and at times the rooms and some areas felt like they were overdue a freshen up and modernisation, but nothing too serious.
7.9 Good
Pros: We upgraded to the Palm Villa. Definitely worth it. A beautiful Villa, large, clean, very comfortable. We had breakfast delivered by boat. Lots of fish swimming around the villa.
Cons: The water surrounding all the villas was full of plastic pollution. I know it's Asia, but they need to do more to keep the surrounding water clean. It was jellyfish season, it's natural so unavoidable, but there was no mention of this in the resort description. Our main reason for booking the resort was to go snorkeling.
7.0 Good
Pros: Every thing
Cons: The A/C

Pros: The beach was amazing- long sandy beaches curling off into the sunset. The food was good too. The staff were unfailingly attentive. Close enough to Kota Kinabalu but far enough away to be very secluded.
Cons: Not the hotel's fault at all, but the whole madness around Corona Virus left the a very good hotel nearly empty.
3.0 Mediocre
Cons: many chinese and korean.they were so loud,chaos...
5.0 Okay
Pros: The front desk who upgraded my room to an ocean view. The breakfast staff were lovely. The monitor lizards wandering around.
Cons: The dank and moist room that smelled mouldy. A short blackout. The jacuzzi at the spa was empty and not operational.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Huge bedroom with comfy bed. Fridge/ kettle provided. Great pools and beach. Golf was fantastic. Breakfast buffet was great with lovely staff and great selection. Great stay.
Cons: The grout in the bathroom was a bit black
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good value for money and a big clean beach only a few meter away Very good for kids Big area with the wildlife next to the hotel
Cons: Staff seems to take their job for granted. Very little activity especially at the 3 restaurants even though there was very few guests Vine selected by us was changed to another bottle since the waiter just thought it was good enough. This without clearly telling so. Steaks, and not for a cheap price, came in rear when asked for medium. When this was informed the plate went out and after 10 min the same plate with the same garnish came in and with a very well done steak. This was the issue every meal we had. Sad since you do not have any choice to eat somewhere else Cockroaches in the toilet area every morning

Pros: What a beautiful tropical island just 20 minutes by boat from Kota Kinabalu. All the staff are so lovely and sweet. I had a large double room with good A/C, kettle, fridge filled with complimentary water and soft drinks and a large comfy bed. All rooms are metres from the lovely sandy beach. Stunning views. The walk to the sunset spot on the other side of the island is worth doing. Breakfast is filling and delicious and in the evening there is a good range of meals accompanied by local musicians who quietly play a good range of songs. I loved it here - just wish I could have stayed longer.
Cons: During the day day trippers come over from the mainland city KK. They are also enjoying themselves on the beaches so it shouldn’t bother the guests - but the island is even lovelier when they all leave by 4pm!

Thanks Mark!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Mark's three-bedroom flat is neat and clean, with great sea views on the ninth floor. It is conveniently located near convenience stores, restaurants and shops, all within walking distance, in a clean neighbourhood. The kitchen is well equipped and the drinking water dispenser is extremely handy. Transport is easily available and if you rent a car there is a parking space that goes with the flat. The daily cleaning service and 24-hour water supply (unlike in some other blocks in complex) are added advantages. Mark responded promptly to our questions, making it so much easier to plan and make the most of our short stay. I would not hesitate in recommending Mark's flat. We first met Mark as a kind and gracious host, and we now think of him as a friend. Thank you Mark for making our visit to KK so special.

3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The room was nice and clean. The location is very good if you're looking to go to the ferry or the market.
Cons: The staff was not great - they were unaware of several things. Room service was a disaster and required 3 trips to our room - even though the server that took the order repeated it back twice. The manager called very late at night to suggest we use their app and didn't know anything of our customer details (e.g. that we had to depart at 6am for a flight). Despite confirming 3 times for a taxi to the airport in the morning, the taxi was not there and we were late for our flight. Would not stay here again as it's not a good choice for a Marriott brand hotel.

Pros: Staff and management extremely helpful, and made the stay a real treat. Whilst the pool area was being renovated, an offer to use a sister hotels facilities was provided without hesitation - really appreciated.
Cons: Rooms are a bit tired and need a refresh. Limited light in the room, made reading in the evening near impossible.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: swimming pool was nice!
Cons: we spent two nights there, and I'd really hope someone will give us a heads up when housekeeping our room lol
6.5 Good
Cons: I wanted to change my itinerary and bring my hotel stay a day forward, from the 21st to the 20th. I offerred to pay the difference in rate if any. Hotel staff told me they cannot do that for me as booking was made via a third party. It was actually made via a fourth party as Kayak outsorced it to getaroom.com. The actual helpline indicated in the booking email (469-675-5368) was possibly run by a fifth party. They were utterly unhelpful with my request to change the booking date by a day, even though I did offer to pay any difference in price. Rigidly cited some sort of policy. I went back to the hotel staff in person and tey also continued to refuse to help. The consequence was that I had to book another hotel for the 20th, did not stay at Le Meridien on the 21st and my money was wasted. I will not be booking via Getaroom ever again and I will be avoiding Le Meridien.
