10.0 Excellent
Pros: A fairytale location. Conveniently close to Kota airport but far enough away to feel remote. Excellent facilities, the food in the restaurants was amazing, excellent water sports available and activities both free and paid. Plus a private beach, just a 5min boat ride away. Heavenly.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved it! I went with an old friend and we had a perfect weekend. The service was fantastic, the resort was beautiful (and so was the beach), and there were just enough activities to keep us busy when we weren't reading by the pool. Looking forward to going back.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Staffs - Every staff greet when they walk by. The food - The food in Fisherman’s Cove is great. The tiger prawn (Catch of the day) is the best.
Cons: The Room - When we arrived the reception, the staff informed the Kinabalu Villa (South China sea view) we reserved three months ago was not available due to hot water issue. They should have informed us earlier before we got there because we came here to see that view. Therefore, they said they have to downgrade us to Canopy villa (no sea view) with the agreement on refunding MYR $200 to us when we check out. Facilities - We rent the hydrobike that was additional charge and we paid full price in cash immediately. While we bike it far away from the shore, the chain of the hydrobike broke suddenly because of rusted chain. We had to drag the whole bike back to the beach by swimming that wasted our time. They need to keep up the maintenance! Trust issues - First, they promised to refund MYR$200 when we check out as mentioned above. They didn’t do that! When we looked at the bill summary, they still charge us the same price pretending we still stayed in the Kinabalu Villa which we didn’t. We had to ask them then they changed it. If we didn’t double check the bill, they would have charged us without letting us know. Seriously? In addition, they still charged us for the hydrobike rental even through we have already paid it in cash. We told them about it, they doubt us and they called the beach rental place to confirm. Then, they took the charge off. Again, they would have charged us already if we didn’t ask. If you go there, make sure to ask them to give you receipts of everything you paid. The under water view - Just don’t Snorkel in the there. There is nothing much to see.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We chose to stay at the resort at the end of our trip around Sabah as a treat - it was by far our most expensive hotel of the whole holiday. Paying those prices you do of course expect very high standards and the room, general facilities and friendliness of staff definitely delivered. It's a beautiful resort and the staff were all incredibly helpful, gorgeous water and setting. Loved the free yoga and meditation too.
Cons: Sadly, we did experience a number of issues during our short stay. Most of these were down to poor communication / booking systems at the hotel - this included our yoga booking not existing when we arrived at class (despite booking 2 days earlier at reception), the hotel mis-communicating diver numbers to Borneo Dream Travel for a diving day resulting in over an hours delay to the trip, our paddleboard booking also not existing when we went to pick up our boards (despite booking over 24 hours earlier), duplicate charges on our final bill at checkout which I luckily spotted and got refunded, and finally our luggage ending up at the police station at the airport (!) as the resort put our bags on the wrong ferry - despite me confirming 3 times which boat we would be on. A very stressful end to our trip. At no point were we offered compensation or any gestures of apology for these various issues - this could have been as simple as a free drink, but nothing was forthcoming sadly. Given the high prices of the rooms, food and drink at the resort, we also felt it a real shame that the ferry journeys and water sports equipment came at an additional cost (particularly when one of the paddle boards is missing its fin making it really hard to use!). It would have been nice for these to be free of charge - as they are at many other resorts.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: If you are on the fence about booking here i would say DO IT! We stayed for only 2 nights at the end of August. It was an amazing end to our travels in Borneo. Although we didnt get fantastic weather, there was still loads to do and the staff were so so friendly, the food was amazing and our room was just outstanding. wish we could go back and do it over!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It was a relaxing break on a beautiful island we saw lots of fish snorkelling, beautiful sea and staff couldn't do enough for you, so friendly and helpful, also very peaceful The shuttle boat was a great service and very efficient we went over to the private beach which was beautiful definitely recommend this
Cons: We were in room 916 it was up a very steep hill and lots of other villas also, which was fine for us but may not be for everyone. The food and drinks was lovely but very expensive compared to the rest of Borneo but it should be expected as in a tourist spot!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous property, great staff, beautiful pool, nice villa
Cons: Over priced boat transfers, limited choice for vegetarians and vegans, guests reserving sun lounges, rubbish in the sea
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The island provides great privacy and the view of Mt Kinabalu. After climb the mountain, we truly need a good rest in resort. The staff are friendly and dinner is gorgeous. Highly recommended!
7.5 Good
Pros: friendly staff
Cons: had to walk a long way to room

Pros: Very near place, bts Anything is good But aircorn is very noisey
Cons: Hae to change aircorn
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location - very close to Jesselton point. The view on the roof is nice. Also I forgot several things in the room upon check-out. I contacted the hotel via email and on the next day was able to get them back.
Cons: It took us 1 hour to check-in because the first room they gave to us was not cleaned (with someone's hair all over the floor, fingerprints on furniture, dust etc), and the second room had a very strong cigarette smoke smell. They asked us to wait for another room in the first room (with hair on the floor). While we were sitting there a cleaning lady came and started vacuum cleaning just in front of us while we were there! The rooms are shabby and outdated. Not a 4 star hotel as you expect. The rooftop area is not as advertised. The hotel reconstructed the whole area, and now most of the roof is occupied by a restaurant. A new swimming pool is veeery small. And there are no armchairs and only 4 sunbeds. After reconstruction pictures on booking.com where not updated. If we had known all these we would have chosen another hotel for a much more reasonable price.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staffs. Spacious, clean and comfortable room. Beautiful sunset view on the rooftop
Cons: Certain guests were smoking on the non-smoking designated floor. It would have been even more pleasant if the Non-Smoking policy was properly enforced by the hotel Manager.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: location, view, comfortable level.
Cons: car parking can be improved.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hostel was just superclean that you could eat from the floor. Btw, breakfast were also ok. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly, location perfect! Great value for money!
Cons: Nothingm. Maybe we would provide some hangers into rooms so one can put the clothes there. But you can survive without it :-)

Cons: The showers and toilets need a lick of paint There was no window in our room
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Helpful staff. Nice, spacious common area. Near weekend night market. Very clean.
Cons: A bit noisy from traffic.
7.9 Good
Pros: Good price
Cons: Poor breakfast (just toast with jam), no soap at the toilet
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Big dormitory rooms and a very nice common area. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Breakfast is very basic ( toast and jam ) but didn't expect more for that value. Very clean and comfortable. Would definitely come back and recommend it. They offer tours like diving, snorkeling...
Cons: Wifi only works in common area.
7.9 Good
Pros: Good location and big common area
Cons: Water pressure was really bad and breakfast is really pour.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This place ruled. The common area was huge and overlooked the main street; I had front row seats to the annual mooncakes festival celebration! There are great restaurants right outside the door. Serina on staff is amazing! I had no plan when I arrived in KK and she basically helped me sort everything regarding dates and activities. She booked Grabs, gave recommendations, and just chatted whenever asked. She made that hostel for me!
Cons: The beds in the dorm are extremely rickety and should be tightened up to not squeak so much. When the outside is loud you hear everything inside the hostel and your room.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The cleanliness, staff are really welcome, bed, selection of food n pool
Cons: None
5.8 Okay
Pros: Location is close to the airport
Cons: Checkin service and restaurant service was unfriendly, slow and they didn’t bring us the food and brought the wrong drinks order! The hotel mostly caters for the Asian market so the bars and breakfast were very loud and busy and we didn’t feel very welcome. There were also a lot of children so it’s not for a place for couples. We’ve stayed in three hotels in K.K. on our trip and I definitely wouldn’t stay here again. You can get something much better for your money.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the equipment, the service of the staff
Cons: It will be better if there are more city-hotel shuttle bus
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect service. Helpful staff with excellent knowledge of English. The room with sea view is great (sunsets are unforgettable). There’s everything in the room what you need. Right of reception is the tour firm. They offer wonderful tours. We bought Mari Mari (very informative and exciting). And diving (super crew!!!). Very close from the center («welcome seafood restaurant is pretty good, fresh seafood), not expensive on the taxi.

And this second time stay, as my first experience, no makeup table and still need to use bathroom mirror. Shower door is missing(i think is was broken) so everytime i take my shower, the water splash everywhere until outside of the shower side.

Overview Reviews
Hyatt Regency Kinabalu is a 14 story highrise in the heart of Kota Kinabalu city overlooking the island-studded South China Sea. Features a 5 story atrium lobby in the heart of of the business, shopping and entertainment district.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Great front desk and concierge services. They were all very pleasant and helpful. The beds are meticulously made, clean and comfy
Cons: The room is comfortable and clean but needs to be updated. Eg the kettle & coffee making facilities were hidden in a drawer instead of out in the open for guests to see. If the staff didn't tell me about it, I wouldn't have known. The pool is also not great.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was comfortable as all the necessities were provided like 3 bath towels, 2 hand towels changed daily including the bed sheets. there were 2 types of shower lotion to pamper me and there was a bathtub, overhead shower & adjustable hand shower to suit my selections.
Cons: The basin tap gave a small problem as the indicator for cold water at blue only works if turned on low & once you raised to higher flow, it became hot and of course red indicator remained hot. I did not report this fault as it was not significant to me as I only use the basin to wash hands and do not need to turn it up frequently so it did not really bother me. However, I have given this feedback to Hyatt Regency in my survey already.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Position, friendly staff, modern facilities, fridge, iron, hair dryer, thin quilt (not hot).Plenty of bottled water.Nice pool.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: All staff are very friendly. The chalet is very comfortable. Special thanks to Einstein Moses for the very warm welcome and service.
Cons: The meal in perahu restaurant should be improved.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in a beachfront villa with a gorgeous sea view. The villa was super clean and spacious, we had everything we need and even more! For example, a telescope! The staff is very friendly and helpful. We had no issues during our stay. Electricity and hot water were available all the time. The sea is clean, and after 4 pm. there is no one on the beach. Very romantic! If you are lucky you may see a big lizard walking in sands (like we did). I also recommend a sunset hike through island jungles. We saw wild chicken among trees there :) Also you may see reef sharks during sunset by the pier. Sutera Sanctuary Lodges is definitely the place you want to return to and recommend to all your friends. So much different to dirty Kota Kinabalu while so close to it!
Cons: Nothing, everything exceeded our expectations. Maybe except for the breakfast. Please please buy a nice coffee machine.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff of the hotel is very very nice. They are really kind and helpful, and made everything to make our staf fantastic. The island is beautiful, we really enjoyed the beauty of the place and walking around the island up to sunset point.
Cons: There are two problems on this island, and they are not directly related to the hotel. The first problem is the garbage lying all over the beach and in the sea. We were really disappointed when we got into the water to see all the plastic everywhere. The main beach is cleaned regularly which is a good start but when walking on other parts of the island or when snorkeling, plastic is still everywhere... it ruins the beauty of the place. Plastic should be forbidden or highly limited and regulated.. The second issue is the never ending sound of boats doing the transfers between the different islands. Is it really necessary to have more than 100 boats coming on this island every day ? And more importantly, do they really have to play very loud techno music? Not sure about that. The boats stopped around 4pm though, which made the end of the day the best part of our experience on this island.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: There were a lot of negative reviews about wifi and the restaurant being the only food for dinner. They must have forgotten it is an island, were very impressed considering how small it is. Overall, the facilities were clean and beautiful. The perfect place to relax! Padi diving centre was also a treat for any licensed divers.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great food and service
Cons: Beds were hard
8.0 Excellent
Pros: All the staff are absoltely lovely and very helpful. The white beaches and warm clear water were exactly what I wished for. The private beach with sun-lounges and shade cloth for guests (away from the hundreds of tourists) is fabulous and you can even get food and drink service to your lounge on the beach. Off the private beach there is a great coral section (with live coral and lots of fish) which is super for snorkelling. The restaurant has lounges and a lovely view, and serves fresh food and cold drinks.
Cons: The rubbish!! I don't understand why the hotel management don't employ groundsmen to clean all the grounds and the beaches. I only saw one man cleaning a little section on the private beach. There is a lot of plastic rubish washed up on the beaches all the way around the island and nothing is cleaned away. The tourists leave rubbish on the ground too and it is still there the next day. Rubbish was even in piles outside my bathroom window. Also, There are little reef sharks in a green dirty tank at the marine centre...this is cruel, if nothing else clean the tank. The pool water was cloudy - need a pool man to get the water balance right so it is crystal clear...so I didn;t swim in it. The accommodation is new and nice, but the rest of the facilities are a little tired and worn and need maintenance.
7.5 Good
Pros: The facilities were just right as to offer guests enough comfort without overdoing it in a natural environment. Staff was friendly. Complimentary water and soft drinks generously provided daily. And a 5-star dive center nearby.
Cons: WiFi signal was weak. Bring a book to read at night as there isn’t much else to do. Quite a lot of flies at the restaurants (but not elsewhere, strangely).

Pros: Location is perfect for exploring the city with many restaurants and shops across the street. Rooms were excellent. Breakfast was mediocre. Would stay there again
Cons: The pool is nice but most of the day it’s in the shade and faces the jungle not the ocean. It is still very peaceful.
7.5 Good
Pros: The location, it's centrally located in the heart of the city. I love how the nearby streets turned alive at day and night with different activities. Just go out the door and walk the streets.
Cons: The breakfast is tasteless. I've been to smaller hotels and less established but considering this hotel's stature, a lot can bit improved in term of their cookings.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Near to town, walk away
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very central, clean and comfortable. Staff are lovely and happy to help
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Welcoming staff who were cooperative in allowing us an upgrade at no additional cost to stay in the same room for our second night which we had booked separately from our organised trip. Breakfast was extensive and leisurely till !0 am.
Cons: The dynamic pricing which meant we paid more for a Friday night stay in a lesser room at the beginning of the trip than we did for a superior deluxe room at the end of the trip. They were booked at the same time...why should this be ? I understand supply and demand but this sort of profiteering does not go down well with these foreign visitors.
7.9 Good
Pros: Comfortable bed, nice view, good location for Gaya Street markets. Staff was friendly, and breakfast was acceptable.
Cons: The room i got was a bit cramped and feels suffocating as pathways are small beside the bed. Bathroom was slightly small but OK, shower head holder was a bit wobbly.

Cons: The room was compact. It was a tight squeeze past the table and chair to close the curtains.

6.7 Good
Pros: I like staff at the door lobby and entrance. My conceirge service was friendly. It was always raining and provided me with umbrella. Pls include breakfast whenever possible at whatever rate. And supply endless water was good. But make sure mineral water and not drinking water.
Cons: The shower head was coming off from the mounted pole in the shower stall. The chrome cast connection was unable to be explained by the staff and I had to keep on trying to get connected to use my Netflix. The breakfast was not included. The room was nice and cozy but dusty and noisy from construction across the street.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and all the staff was amazing - very friendly and helpful. I have stayed in many, many hotels around the World but this staff was extraordinary. Rooms nice and spacious.
Cons: Food options were a bit boring.
7.5 Good
Pros: The service is great and staff are nice and helpful. Great location to restros and shops. Nice roof top bar and pool.
Cons: We stay the whole trip there (4 nights). We suffer from electricity shortage 3 out of 4 with lights keep on and off a while. The technician comes at the 1st time but the situation remains. I can’t say it’s the hotel fault as they tell us it’s due to unstable power supply from electricity company. But I don’t expect it happens few times like haunted house..
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable bed and room. Very friendly staff.
Cons: Location is only okay
7.9 Good
Pros: Pool and bar were nice, bed was comfy and the shower was good
Cons: Got stung by a whole bunch of local taxes at the end of my stay I new nothing about and a 200"ringit deposit when I arrived that was also never mentioned. When there was a power outage my do not disturb sign was turned off so someone went into my room when I wasn't there and then wasn't offered any type of consolation for my privacy being breeched
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel and friendly staff. The pool area was amazing. The bed was the most comfortable I’d stayed in during this trip (out of 4 hotels). We walked everywhere or got a Grab, was pretty good location! Breakfast buffet was massive.
Cons: Quite expensive but that includes breakfast. Would have liked to have a bath tub.

Pros: Nice view and perfect location near waterfront and night markets. The breakfast was better than other hotels in KK. Most staffs are very kind.
Cons: The windows and some carpets are not clean. The water pressure of the toilet is weak.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Quick efficient staff, good restaurants, clean rooms, adequate space in the room, central location
Cons: 2 of 4 elevators not functioning but didn’t have to wait too long though
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Awesome place with spacious modernly furnished rooms and super friendly staff.. Get a room with a sea view
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in a newly decorated room. The design was nice and the beds really wonderfull. The rooftop bar has a nice view. The pool is busy, but big enough and has a nice view to the sea. However, what impressed us the most, was the staff. Everyone was friendly and tried their best to help with whatever question we had.
Cons: The dinner buffet was less to our liking then the breakfast buffet. I like Malaysian food, but my husband hoped for some western style food. That was available, but limited. The desserts were heavenly though.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff and management extremely helpful, and made the stay a real treat. Whilst the pool area was being renovated, an offer to use a sister hotels facilities was provided without hesitation - really appreciated.
Cons: Rooms are a bit tired and need a refresh. Limited light in the room, made reading in the evening near impossible.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was very spacious and comfortable. Bed was super comfortable and the air conditioning working like a charm. Breakfast was adequate but be buffet a bit messy. Excellent location. All and all a great stay
Cons: The bathroom had a bit of a smell. There is no desc lamp. The pool needs some attention as the furniture is getting dated and a bit scruffy. Service at the pool was great though.
6.5 Good
Cons: I wanted to change my itinerary and bring my hotel stay a day forward, from the 21st to the 20th. I offerred to pay the difference in rate if any. Hotel staff told me they cannot do that for me as booking was made via a third party. It was actually made via a fourth party as Kayak outsorced it to getaroom.com. The actual helpline indicated in the booking email (469-675-5368) was possibly run by a fifth party. They were utterly unhelpful with my request to change the booking date by a day, even though I did offer to pay any difference in price. Rigidly cited some sort of policy. I went back to the hotel staff in person and tey also continued to refuse to help. The consequence was that I had to book another hotel for the 20th, did not stay at Le Meridien on the 21st and my money was wasted. I will not be booking via Getaroom ever again and I will be avoiding Le Meridien.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: If you've ever stayed at a Le Meridien, you'll know what to expect -- from quality of furnishings and decor, to outdoor pool overlooking the sea and staff courteousness, down to even the MALIN+GOETZ toiletries, this property is exactly what I've experienced in other Le Meridiens (NYC, San Francisco, etc.). This is no small feat, considering the general lower quality of living in KK. The location is great, just across the night market with a splendid ocean view and sunset. Pool has bar with happy hour. Rooftop terrace bar/restaurant is a very cool space, but its popularity seems to peak at sunset (by the time we made it up there at around 9pm, there was more waiting staff than customers -- still, I enjoyed the live jazz singer performance). KK has a small city core, and it is possible to walk to all of the most interesting spots from the hotel. I enjoyed the comfortable king-size bed and quality linens. Bathroom has separate walk-in shower and bathing tub.
Cons: No slippers provided in room, which seems sacrilegious for a hotel located in Asia! The exterior of the hotel seems far more grimy than the interior. Lots of street traffic on the busy street just outside (but alas, that's hardly the hotel's fault).

Pros: The room is great.
Cons: The staff were bad. The customer service overall were bad and they were unfriendly. Waited for almost an hour for the room to be ready. The staff who works at the cake place was so rude like she doesn’t have the motivation to work. And for the receptionist was making faces when we talk to them. Overall the staff needs to improve their people relation.
