9.0 Excellent
Pros: Without doubt the best bed we slept in during our trip - in fact the whole room was great - a delightful bath with a view and a separate dressing room, but that bed... you don't want to leave it! The hotel is of the quality you'd expect from the Pullman name with a feel of opulence and luxury throughout.
Cons: It could have been in any city in any country - but that is what folks expected from a brand like this.
10.0 Excellent

9.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are well designed. There are many furniture to use easily. The bathroom is clean and bathtub is good. The bed is soft and comfy. All the staff are lovely, smiling and very helpful. Breakfast tastes good enough.
Cons: Dine at an Italian restaurant The pasta has a salty taste, small shrimp, bad taste. Ordered room service to eat in the room, Thai food, green curry, chicken, like frozen food The chicken meat is very harsh, the taste is terrible.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was fab. Breakfast was out of this world. So much choice
Cons: Nothing. Everything was fab

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel was truly stunning. It was classic and elegant. The lily ponds surrounding the property were beautiful. The pool is lovely. The rooms are stunning. They are large with the most comfortable bed. The attention to detail in rooms is spectacular. The restaurant is fabulous and the staff are lovely. Beautiful place to stay.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The property and its gardens are magnificent and well situated within the town. The rooms are large and quiet and are very well equipped with everything one could possibly need. The pool is wonderful and the birds in the trees chatter constantly. There even is a family of peacocks and a couple of geese in residence. It’s impossible not to love this hotel.
Cons: The restaurant has indoor and outdoor tables which are lovely, but the food doesn’t quite match the location. It’s OK, but not outstanding. The breakfasts, however, are excellent.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Comfort perfectly blends with Luxurious Burmese décord, softly contrasted with the scenery of the area. Lovely swimming pool, nice breakfast, amazing staff I.e. genuine hospitality of “The Golden Land”
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful & relaxing environment; very friendly, helpful & professional staff.
6.0 Good
Pros: Staff charming and chef was very helpful. The main menu didn't have enough local food options.
Cons: On arrival we were shown to inferior rooms and we ended up in a room although acceptable was not what we booked. The staff were very apologetic but they then tried to charge full price for the lower quality room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The kindness of the staff, the amazing site, everything was perfect. Dîner and breakfast were magic as well. Really a place you want to stay longer.
7.0 Good
Pros: The staff helped me too much.
Cons: The most expensive hotel I started in Myanmar. But it's not the best one. Is this the hotel of the Belmont Group? It didn't reach the level of Belmont.
9.1 Excellent
Cons: More taxis available
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautful setting, fantastic service
Cons: Everything was great

Pros: Great location, incredible service and super food and sunrise
9.0 Excellent
Pros: stunning view from the lake side rooms. i stay again and again and its truly heaven of relaxation. the always fresh smell in the building. early check was never a problem.
Cons: service at the pool. it was difficult to get a tea... they say they open at 11.00. poor service for 5 star place, needs improvement.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a massive hotel from a luxury chain so it has levels of comfort you would expect. The lakeview from our room was spectacular and we appreciated the upgrade as our room was not ready... very professional reception team.
Cons: The location is not great for walking to other things and the vehicle access road to the hotel makes it clear that they don't expect people to arrive or leave on foot as there is no pavement!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: I like the vibe and the big grand glass window view of lobby and restaurants. I stayed in a lake view room. I have an amazing view to Inya Lake.
Cons: There should have escalators to go to restaurants and public areas in the hotel in stead of stairs or elevators. Not friendly walking way for pedestrians going outside to the main street.

Pros: We were family of three and loved the property , property has excellent facilities with nice room , good bar and beautiful pool . staff was helpful and courteous. break fast has excellent spread.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The quality of the hotel
Cons: Normally we like more low key accommodations but it was great because my wife and I were sick and we needed to recover quickly.
7.1 Good
Pros: Great pool area and friendly staff
Cons: Bed was too short Club lounge isn’t really all day beverages. There has to be someone there to man it to provide you with a drink of any kind Food was expensive and sub par
9.7 Excellent
Pros: I liked that service at the hotel. Once you entered, you were greeted immediately and taken care of. I was able to check in early and get my room earlier than check in time. The staff was very attentive and you could see that they tried their very best (especially the housekeeping team).
Cons: The pool bathrooms. Because I had a late flight and wanted to freshen up prior to my flight, I had access to the pool / gym bathrooms to freshen up and it did not live up to my expectation as it felt like it was literally a bathroom / shower in a hut. It needs to be regularly cleaned by the hotel.
The Strand, Yangon - Yangon - Building
5
9.0 Excellent (758 reviews)
S$ 328+
Overview Reviews
In the heart of Yangon, The Strand Yangon is within a 5-minute drive of Sule Pagoda and Bogyoke Market. Featured amenities include limo/town car service, a computer station, and complimentary newspapers in the lobby. Planning an event in Yangon? This hotel has 6480 square feet (602 square meters) of space consisting of conference space and a meeting room. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free valet parking is available onsite.
4.0 Okay
Cons: Attention to detail was not there...this is supposed to be a five star hotel...the sink in my bathroom was blocked, the phone broken, an empty vase graced the bathroom. No advertised pictures of old Burma on blank walls. Large but impersonal room. So called butter (s) did nothing but collect and hand out room key. I had to tell them each time I came back my room number. Food was hit and miss. I went to the New Year dinner at the restaurant. All in all very very disappointing. I have stayed at Raffles, E&O and many other classics but this is one not to be repeated.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The thing that sets this hotel apart from other 5 star hotels is the fact that the staff are truly excellent (I would say 6 stars for the staff if it were possible). Because the hotel is relatively small, I think it allows for a much more personalised touch. The facilities (pool, spa) of the hotel were also very good, as was the a la carte breakfast/ restaurant.
Cons: Not that I didn't like it, but if you are considering staying here you should accept the fact that the hotel is >100yrs old and as such its angle is 'luxury mixed with character' rather than 'pure, modern luxury' (such as might be found at a modern 5 star hotel). I think having character makes it much more interesting... It was nice to sit in the breakfast lounge and think about who might have been sitting in this exact room having their breakfast 100 years ago...!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The colonial heritage. Renovated but not overrenovated. Certainly one of the best colonial hotel in the world. Should I travel to Yangon again I certainly will choose The Strand. .
Cons: Nix, nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the charm and attention to detail.
Cons: The breakfast service was very disappointing— slow and lacked following up (in regards to all beverages).
6.0 Good
Pros: The renovations have been tastefully completed and the swimming pool area is blissful.
Cons: Unfortunately The Strand didn't live up to the hype and expectations. Little things let it down. The sink in the bathroom was blocked. The desk telephone was broken. No flowers I'm the room, just an empty vase. No pictures on the walls. New Year's dinner at the restaurant a big disappointment. I have stayed at Raffles and the R&O, unfortunately The Strand lags behind. As a side note the butler (s) on the first floor never knew my name or room number and I had to ask for my key every time. Sad when there were on three rooms occupied on the floor...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely amazing hotel! Gorgeous building, great location and fantastic staff. We couldn’t have asked for a better hotel during our stay in Yangon. The Strand will be nearly impossible to top.
Cons: N/A
8.0 Excellent
Pros: They upgraded suite for me.
Cons: We had dinner at The Strand Restaurant, but it's was the most expensive and the worst restaurant I stayed in Myanmar.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Old world charm
Cons: Not worth the price
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is very sleek, simple design but very elegant and a nod to the colonial days. The service is absolutely exceptional, with friendly staff catering to all needs. We had the most relaxing time there, relaxing by the pool (which was spacious, and despite being two weeks before Christmas, was pretty much empty, though I doubt it ever gets full). We were extremely fortunate to have amazing weather, and had the luxury of being upgraded to a higher standard room (extra 5m^2), and a 24hr butler service. All the small touches were well done, like a night treat with the turn-down service. The location is also great, with sights of Yangon on the doorstep and a plethora of amazing restaurants within walking distance.
Cons: The cooking of breakfast wasn't quite on point. Whilst very decadent (the lobster dishes were yummy, but maybe too rich for breakfast), soft boiled eggs were overdone, and the deep fried yolk also, but understandably difficult to balance, and this is being pernickety to find flaws. (they in fact brought out another deep fried yolk, which was runny). I have also been in bigger showers too. We also had heard great things about their happy hour, (drinks were good, and the amuse bouches were a nice touch), but sadly it was quiet, and they did allow smoking indoors, which was sad.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Good people, good breakfast
Cons: Nothing
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel is great, people are great. Restaurant has a great menu, the quality of the food depends on the day. One day it was great, the next not so good.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was great, the add was incredibly comfortable. The swimming pool was fantastic and very relaxing. The other facilities there available for people were great, fitness centre, spas and 4 different restaurants with a variety of foods available.
Cons: fabulous hospitality. The staff could not do enough for us. They were wonderful.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed, linen and food
Cons: The room did not have a good view of the university campus with lots of greenery opposite which would have been great.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff, rooms, gym, pool, ambience all excellent
9.1 Excellent
Cons: Tv was about to fall to the ground. It looks dangerous.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staffs were really kind and always tried their best to help us. I don’t know much about the location because we mostly took the taxi to everywhere, but I guess it’s fine because it only took 10-15 min to Shwedagon Pagoda from the hotel. Stayed at 14th floor, and the view from the room was fantastic, we could see the Shwedagon Pagoda from far away, and Yangon city which is full of the trees. The room is sparkling clean and I liked their amenities.
Cons: We stayed in the executive room so we had access to the executive lounge. They offered tea for 12-4pm, happy hour(alcohol beverages and some mini buffet which is enough to be light dinner snack) for 5-7pm and the breakfast for 6:30-10:30am. But the food was not so great, which we expected more than this. Wonder if just paid breakfast at 6th floor was better because pasta and the burger of the ground floor restaurant was really good.

The room was simply perfect, huge and very well furnished with a nice view on the lake. The breakfast was WOW, too many choices, from local food, to western food with Spanish options..amazing! Highly recommended.

Pros: Breakfast is good. I wish I could have more time to enjoy it. Gym is nice.
7.9 Good
Pros: The pool has nice views over the adjacent lake. Staff is friendly and prompt.
Cons: It’s a 20 minutes drive to downtown. We stayed here to be closer to the airport for an early flight.

Pros: Excellent all in the hotel... I like this place.. Also I will recommend my friend choose hotel
Cons: Without Balcony smoking room.. And without spray fresh air in the room.. Some stuff waitress in bar live band.. Not really much interest and not much good service...
1.0 Poor
Cons: Although Confirmation code was arrive, we pay extra charges 50000 mmk
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were booked into a “normal” room but offered an upgrade to the “level”. For $50 per night we were given a room on the top 2 floors with great views of Inya lake and access to the “level “ on the top. This was magnificent with brilliant staff, a much more sophisticated breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening drinks and snacks. Also fantastic views of the Shwedagon
Cons: Nothing apart from maybe the wood strip floor was obviously fitted by Myanmar workers as it didn’t fit too well!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast is superb.
Cons: If gym had steam room or sauna, it would be perfect.

Featured amenities include complimentary wired Internet access, a business center, and limo/town car service. Planning an event in Yangon? This hotel has 1400 square feet (130 square meters) of space consisting of a conference center and meeting rooms. Free valet parking is available onsite.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff spoke good English, very welcoming and eager to help. Excellent breakfast with a huge choice and great service. The main restaurant is on the first floor, but the seafood restaurant on the ground floor is both cheaper and tastier and there is much more than just seafood.
Cons: Swimming pool looks great, but there is not enough space for sitting, even though there is plenty of surrounding garden. People arriving in the afternoon (us on one occasion) had to sit on chairs waiting for others to leave or just give up and go back to their rooms. This needs sorting. The pool is not heated so it’s colder than a normal European swimming pool. The evening menu on the first floor restaurant featured quite a few similar European items (several pizzas, several burgers). I would prefer to see less European food and a greater variety of Asian, as the quality seemed good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: There is nothing much to say, everything is as good as you expect this kind of establishment to be. If you can afford it or if you want to have a break into your road trip backpacker travel, give yourself a treat The new gym is just out of this world!!!! All new machines etc if you are a gym freak just go.
Cons: Nothing really
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was quite elaborate
Cons: Very big property. Well maintained and good service
9.6 Excellent
Pros: + Staff was very friendly and helpful. + Great breakfast
7.9 Good
Pros: Location , staff
Cons: Hotel is dated, food and beverage on site is way overpriced by Myanmar standards , it shows since we barely saw anyone eating there during our stay .
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The facility, our room and service is great. Except that my bed has too much wood aging sound so it disturb my mum during her sleep a bit. The rest was great!
Cons: The breakfast, food variety was a lot but the taste and quite blend and we had plain rice that has cockroach smell in the rice.
7.0 Good
Pros: Perfect location and very well known Hotel for the taxis. The concierge were the best and always willing to help. The room was spacious but for some reason was facing the back of the hotel which was a pity. If you are going to stay there ask the rooms on the right hand side of the corridor. The breakfast had a lot of variety and the food was quite tasty. We also had a meal at the restaurant and it was very good as well.
Cons: It is a VERY big hotel which makes it a bit un-personal. When we arrived it was a huge group doing the check in so it took us quite some time and made our check in process a bit chaotic. It is also a pity that some guests do not respect the other guests so the doors were banging very early in the morning and screaming at each other around 5am. Pity!!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was very good to visit sights in different areas of Yangon. Room was big and comfortable with view to Shwedagon Pagoda. Very relaxing pool area and excellent breakfast with very different meal choices including local food, Japanese dishes and traditional European food. Staff and all the service was amazing.
Cons: Maybe only problem was that there was not enough space and sunbeds in the pool area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast and location were great! It is easy to access to the Zoo. Staffs are also very kind.
Cons: nothing.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: everything is very good in this hotel. It is a bit old but the maintenance is sound. the staff are very helpful and quick. With a large guest room, the value for money is top rank.

6.7 Good
Cons: Very noisy. I was staying on 18th floor and could hear music and voices from one side and someone snoring from the other. I couldn't get any good rest at night
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The caring staff when I was ill
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast is ok, but the vairety don't change. Normally I stay for 3 days and almost every day I will see the Chinese Tim Sum will be the same for the duration of my stay..
Cons: At time the shower mixer don't really work, thus either it is too hot or too cold.
6.7 Good
Pros: Guest rooms are huge with fantastic views, comfortable bed. Clean.
Cons: We booked this property because of the gym and pool, but were unable to use either due to a full crew taking over. The property neglected to tell us about this and suggested we use the facilities when filming was complete - which would be after we had checked out. Communication here is not great at all.
5.0 Okay
Pros: 21st floor restaurant was very nice with spectacle view.
Cons: Some staffs especially at reception are not well trained and rude. They are grumpy face and too slow for check in process. I have used this hotel for 3 times so far, and every time very staffs are like this treat for me. Rooms are clean but one thing i don't like is they don't have hot water. Breakfast was awesome.
7.0 Good
Pros: Central location, good gym, excellent breakfast
Cons: Food menu at the pool bar could include a few more vegetarian options. A simple drinking water dispenser instead of all the plastic bottles would be nice.

Cons: Dine at an Italian restaurant The pasta has a salty taste, small shrimp, bad taste. Ordered room service to eat in the room, Thai food, green curry, chicken, like frozen food The chicken meat is very harsh, the taste is terrible.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Like everything about this hotel. Gorgeous rooms. Cute courtyard to drink a few cans of ABC in the afternoon when it gets too hot to walk around. Superb location, dead center. Just a few blocks away is Aung Mingalar, one of the best Shan noodles in town. Also Easy Cafe/Gentleman Roasters with elite coffee. Can walk to almost everything here in 30 mins or less, Schwedagon pagoda, the lake, Chinatown, downtown, train. Ultimately though, it is the staff that really makes this place great. No matter who you see, they are kind, helpful, warm, and friendly. As good as it gets. We ended up staying here twice on our return to Yangon, could not really imagine having a better experience anywhere else.
Cons: Nothing not to like.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything but the bed and pillows. Location is great, right in between shwedagon Pagoda and the downtown, both within walking distance, and there are plenty of restaurants and bars around. Breakfast was very good and staff is always attentive and trying to help you. Room is big, clean and nicely decorated. I'd definitely stay again.
Cons: Bed and pillow weren't as comfortable as they could have been.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were fantastic! The breakfast and dinner was outstanding. Every attention to detail regarding food and service was adhered to. The rooms were lovely and spacious. The location was fabulous.
Cons: The internet connection was a bit hit and miss. We were woken every morning by pigeons on the windowsills, but this could easily be fixed with spikes.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was impeccable
6.3 Good
Pros: It’s very centrally located, close to the old historic part and the nice pagodas. The gym is exceptionally well equipped.
Cons: The property is outdated. It feels like entering a hotel that didn’t change with its time. The rooms are really nothing special. We just expected more from a Shangri-La since we have seen many more of them. The sauna/spa is possibly the best example of where this hotel is just extremely outdated.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a corner room with a view of the golden pagoda. Staff was excellent. Highly recommend the concierge service for tours and trips. The car services arranged by the concierge were excellent. Good breakfast with a wide variety. Beautiful colonial style bar. This hotel met my expectations of a Shangrila Hotel.
Cons: nothing at all.

Checking in at the Horizon club desk was easy & comfortable. Hotel was first class, staff were excellent, friendly & helpful. The roomwas large & comfortable & we had a great view from our window. The swimming pool was very welcome after a hot day out sightseeing. We thought the hotel well located. As our flight wasn't leaving until the evening we asked if we could keep tghe room after the usual check out time & were given a late check out at no additional cost, excellent service, thank you Sule Shangri La.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable bed Attentive staff Good places to eat and have a drink just a block away
Cons: The room had no windows and a column in it.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staffs and good location. Clean bed
Cons: No receipt/note given once payment is made on the 1st day arriving. Only themselves written records. So can be worry if the same receptionist (who handle my payment) is not at the counter during my hotel check out time.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The reception was very helpful in catching a taxi for me and assisting me with directions. The room is very spatious and comfortable. Breakfast was quite tasty with few dishes to select from.
Cons: Every floor seems to have the staff section in the middle so it can be quite noisy when there were few staffs chatting. Also, the hair dryer was not working. Somehow the wifi kept logging me out so the connection was a bit unstable.
7.0 Good
Pros: Good service and big room
Cons: Breakfast. Quite basic in basement room
9.0 Excellent
Pros: You cannot beat the price for the central location of downtown close to popular restaurants, malls, coffee shops... Hotel K Yangon even allowed me earlier entrance after the night bus from JJ Express.
Cons: Nothing much. You are paying for the central location to everything with a staff willing to help you with basic needs.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Good breakfast. Clean room. Good staff. Value for money.
Cons: Hotel rooms are a bit weird in terms of plan - we had to access the balcony from the toilet. Toilets are quite small. Do not expect any good view. Very very small property with a garage of a dining space. We used it as a stopover hotel just for the night. please do not stay here for other purposes like relaxation etc
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location. Near from Shwe Dagon Paya.
Cons: International TV news were not clear to watch.
