Pros: The staff at Alamo in Belize City was professional, helpful and personable. They were the best part of my experience with Alamo. We became well acquainted as I was there the first day of my trip, the second day of my trip and the fifth day of my trip.
Cons: Right from the start, the car that I had reserved is not what I received. As a disabled veteran with bad knees, it was very uncomfortable for me to drive the Kia Soul that they gave me. I asked when they would have something different and they told me to come back the next day.
The following day I was in a Ford Escape. I drove the Ford for three days and on the third day the Low Tire Pressure light came on. When I got out to check I saw that I had a flat tire on the rear driver side. As I changed the tire on the side of the road I saw that there was steel thread showing on the inner edge of the flat tire. I decided to look at all the tires and found that the other rear tire also had steel thread showing as well. This upset me as it put my two-year-old, my wife and me in danger. there is no reason a car should ever leave a lot in that condition. The flat occurred 30 miles west of Belmopan which is an hour and a half away from Belize City. We never made it to our destination (San Ignacio to see the ruins) instead it was a wasted day of a vacation that we had been looking forward to for some time. I limped the car back to Belize City on a doughnut and a bad tire as I did not want my family sitting on the side of the road for an hour and a half. The crew at Alamo was apologetic and gave us a Ford Explorer which was very nice and had decent tires (we checked). I spent more time thinking and dealing with the rental car agency than I should of. I am upset about my family having been put in danger due to worn and unsafe tires and upset over losing a day of vacation. I am so upset in fact that I am writing this 30 minutes after walking in the door from the airport. To reiterate, lovely people but it took multiple tries to get it right.

Drop Off and Communication
Pros: It was great to get an automatic vehicle with all-wheel drive for the rate.
Cons: The communication was difficult. Scheduling an after-hours pick-up and drop-off is not the easiest thing to do given their hours of operation. Many flights arrive and depart outside of their operating hours.

Great choice for Belize!
Pros: Great car - we got a Kia SUV which made it easy to navigate the roads.
Also--when we returned the car in Belize city, they gave us a ride to the water taxi!

Most expensive car rental
Pros: the people at the counter
Cons: 600.00 for a mediocre ford escape for 8 days is steep

Pros: The service reps at both pickup and drop off were very friendly, professional and helpful.

Cons: Alamo doesn't seem to have any of their own cars and pass you off to a local company called crystal who jacks up the price on you its not a huge amount but it's defiantly a shady operation there.

Pros: Fast service, fine auto, convenient. Most impressed with Rental Agent Elita. She was very professional, extremely competent and, couldn't have been more personable. I have rented autos in many places but, never had a better experience than this one.
