The car could've been cleaner. The inside had sand on the seats and floor. The cars rims were covered in mud and sand.. overall the car served it's purpose but it could've been cleaner.

i had specifically asked about switching out credit/debit card at drop off. at pick up they confirmed it as i specifially asked about it, but at drop off they said it wasn't possible. it felt they were just shoving me off.

I was charged a much different amount than what the contract and the customer service agent said I would. I never received a receipt once I dropped off the vehicle. The vehicle was absolutely filthy (gum stuck to carpet, vomit in window openings) and it also needed new windshield wipers which ended up being somewhat of a safety hazard due to rain.

Horrible experience. Hertz was closed because staff didn’t come in and I had to go to a different pick up where they would not honor this reservation and charged me double. I was 4 hours late and missed my rehearsal dinner. I will never use kayak again

Picked-out a Kia Soul "or like" on the website and was pleasantly surprised when they gave me a Mustang at the same price, because it was available. Maybe it was me sweet-talking the kind associate or maybe they knew we were on an anniversary excursion, either way, it didn't go unnoticed and really appreciated the gesture.

I was overcharged $100 with no valid explanation. The price i was supposed to pay was listed then the final price stated $100 more. The car was in good condition as when received, gas was back to normal there was no reason for this extra charge. I called and was hung up on by a rude associate and then had to wait weeks before a manager contacted me. Worst experience EVER!

There was a long line to get to an agent. After he confirmed all my details, I was told it’d be 10 minutes for someone to get the car for me. I ended up waiting 90 minutes to get my car. (There were a lot of other customers in a similar situation.) The car I got was not the type I reserved but I had waited so long that I felt that I had to take the car or just continue to wait indefinitely.

Excellent customer service from pick up to drop off. My rental was for a few hours but was given full range of options for tolls, fuel etc. If you choose correctly it is not necessary to add a lot of cost to the budget price you are already paying. I would highly recommend Kayak and it will now be my “go to” for future car rental needs

I originally had a van reserved but when I got there no van was available I was offered a Nissan Pathfinder which is not the same size and would be uncomfortable for the other passengers. When I inquired about the Ford Expeditions I saw in the lot I was told that those might have engine problems and that was why they weren't an option. After explaining that the Nissan would not be able to fit the people who will be in the car then I was offered an Expedition for an up charge. I accepted the deal because I needed the car asap but at this point I felt lied to and paid more money because they could not meet the reservation and essentially tried to downgrade me originally. What was the point of a reservation if not only could they not meet it but end up charging me more money for not being able to hold up their end of the deal.

Very frustrated with my most recent experience using Budget via Kayak. I scheduled a pickup at the West 49th street location in NYC at 3 PM on a Sunday. I arrived a few minutes late due to an emergency to find the location closed, with no employees in sight. Evidently the location closes at 3 PM on Sundays, which to me does not make sense why Kayak and Budget would allow scheduling at the time the business closes, when everyone knows it takes 10-15 minutes to get a car (sometimes longer) when picking up a rental. I thankfully allowed myself a 2 hr window to commute when I only needed 40 minutes, but due to this I had to spend 75 minutes commuting from that location to their closest location on the UES before I could depart for my event, which, surprisingly, I was only five minutes late for. But this was a miserable experience with a pickup and Kayak should really not allow scheduling on their website when a rental agency is scheduled to close - add a cut off. Jeez. To add insult to injury, I picked up the car at 3/4 tank full, barely used any gas, paid $13 to return the car with a full tank (and took pictures). Yet budget charged me a $19 refueling fee anyway, that I then had to call and request a refund for. That’s despicable. Otherwise, car was clean and comfortable, though I was charged $14 more than the “estimate” I was provided when booking. Not surprised given NYC.

They upgraded me to an SUV; and charged me. Vehicle was filthy - both inside and out (bird poop all over outside of rental)! They did not make an inspection of damages. I was told, “we know what the damages are, but you can take pictures if you want”. There was an enormous line at return. I was instructed to just leave key in car. Again, no inspection of damages. I was then billed 80% more than my quote from Kayak with mo explanation why!!!!

The car had only quarter tank and it said in the agreements full tank. Don’t charge me for gasoline please. I brought it back with half tank. So you owe me a quarter. Also, three tires are completely worn out. Only one is new which the the front driver side. This rental experience is way below the expectations. I drove an unsafe car with my kids and wife in it. The car has bad three tires. It looks like onul one got replaced and three are totally worn out. Pictures were taken for proof. Been driving 5 hours at 50MPH instead of 70MPH, and had it slipped three times Because of light rain conditions. This is not acceptable at all to put my family at risk.

I didn’t even rent the car. I showed up at 1 pm to get to a wedding by 4:30 that’s an hour away. Any other company I’d have plenty of time. The line was 40+ people out the door. I waited for 30 minutes and the line barely moved. I ended up walking over to Hertz and getting a car from them. I think Kayak or Payless overbooked irresponsibly and I lost out on money because of it.

Waited over 45 minutes in a very long line with only 2 agents at the counter. The manager was called to handle a customer complaint and made no effort to assist with the line or engage with the customers. I didn’t get the car requested online. I had to answer the same questions that I already replied to online. My Avis advantage number couldn’t be used to expédiâtes me in the line for the Payless reservation, but there wasn’t a dedicated person to help with Payless customers. Overall it was a horrible experience. When I dropped off my car they still made me go inside to speak to a representative.

I got to the rental office on W83rd St. prior to my 10:00am pick-up time and there was a line out the door (I'll give them a little leeway here because the office is very small). 11:00am came and went, 12:00pm came and went, I never even got inside the building to speak with an employee, nor did I see anyone in front of me in line receive the cars that they booked. I suspect they didn't have any cars left to provide for the growing line of agitated customers, and while this may be related to the pandemic and was outside of their control, what was within their control would have been for someone to come outside and tell us what was going on, or let us know that they were expecting a long delay or that our plans would likely have to be cancelled.

They were completely inflexible with their cancellation or change policy. They did not explain how the ezpass worked. They actually had st least 2 different explanations of how it worked. They were constantly confused. I won’t use dollar again. Nor will I use kayak or Priceline. Zero customer focus.

The wait was long to rent and return the car, due to there not being enough personnel to help customers. There was an even longer wait @ LaGuardia for the shuttle bus. We waited for the shuttle for more than 30 minutes while the other rental car buses came every 5 - 10 minutes. It was also difficult to find the rental return near La Guardia. Walter

The Dollar counter would not accept the “third-party” Allianz Global rental insurance. I did not have the time to call Allianz at the counter (which took nearly 50 minutes to complete the transaction that I already had a reservation for) when I did call Allianz, the automated answering system said it would be a 4+ hour hold time. I will be requesting a refund of my $121 dollars. Dollar charged me $299.50 for the same insurance.

The ezpass toll additional fee ($22/day, $112/week for unlimited tolling) felt like a big rip off, since I only planned to spend around $10 tops in tolls during the week. I decided to risk not getting it and just avoided tolls all week. This was very easy to do, so I saved $112! Would recommend doing your research on what tolls you will actually end up driving through (probably not many, in the end!). Also skipped out on the liability and insurance, which are all extra fees at the counter (I have insurance through my credit card. The person behind the counter was not pleased with me, but I took the risk and it all worked out in the end!) Pickup and drop off were seamless. Was able to jump right on the Henry Hudson Parkway and was home in minutes. I can imagine pickup and drop off during rush hour times is a little more backed up bc Dollar shares the lot with a parking garage. The car was in great condition and was a very smooth ride. Overall, very pleased!

This was my first experience with Sixt. They will be my new car rental go to. I was at LaGuardia airport. Much more reasonably priced, great cars and better service. In my experience, it wasn't really more convenient, less expensive, or any of the things their advertisements seemed to imply. Neither their website or app were able to retrieve my booking. So when I needed to make a change to the booking, I had to call an 800 number, (that isn't super easy to find.) And no, when I showed up they didn't have the car I booked, and I had to take a bigger one. service on the phone was nice. All the people I talked to we're great. But the rest may as well be an avis.

Sixt is the only rental car company at LGA that closes at 5pm. I received no warning that they would close earlier and was stranded by them at LGA. There is no way to reach a human through their phone system in the days leading up to my arrival either, which is unacceptable. A complete failure on their part. Do not use this company.

Pick staff were friendly but at drop off the manager was disrespectful and rude. We need to use a restroom and the manager refused, saying that since we dropped off the car we were no longer customers and could care less if we needed to use the restroom. I was shocked at that response.The vehicle was dirty and had a sticky film in the inside of the driver side window. They didn’t have our reserved car class and we were given a minivan. Plus the utter disrespect and rudeness at drop off was unacceptable.

Location did not have car when I arrived, had to wait for about four hours at rental car location for a car. Once I picked up the car is smelled heavily of marijuana smoke, no discount was offered. Rental car location did not clean car, I had to disinfect the car myself. When I tried to return the car I called the location multiple times and they did not pick up, instead they sent me an email address to contact to contact the agency, I emails and have not heard anything back yet (it’s been two days). Horrible experience, I will not be using advantage again.

Pick up and drop off was indeed super easy.I normally don't opt for prepaid fuel but when the question of prepaid fuel came up I said that would be convenient since I didn't know of a gas station nearby (I have never rented a car from JFK Airport before). It turns out there is a gas station one block away from the rental drop off. It could not have been easier to get gas. Seems like the nice guy at the desk could have pointed that out.

They called me the night before pickup and said they didn’t have the vehicle (minivan) . They canceled my reservation with no attempt to offer me a similar size vehicle. I tried calling their customer service number but no one was available. This company is awful. I couldn’t get a minivan anywhere last minute and had to drive my own car. I was greatly inconvenienced.

did not pick up rental car because you needed to call for a shuttle pickup once you arrived at JFK. No one would answer the phone after 8 mins of ringing. Called back and let the phone ring another 5 mins, the person picked up the phone with music blasting and we couldn't hear each other. I ended up renting from another company. A worker at JFK, told us that was common practice with ACE rental. I wouldn't recommend it.

Starter Fab of Nissan Rogue was defective. Level 1 people answering phone (2) had no clue what to do if I was in trouble getting into vehicle or starting it! Road Assistance Guy told us services to expect if trouble continued. The best assistance we got as to entering the vehicle & starting it was a U-tube vehicle on our phone.

ACE left us without a car. Upon arriving at JFK and calling for a shuttle as we were instructed to do, we were informed by ACE that my wife had canceled our reservation for the car. She did not cancel the reservation. ACE informed us they had no other cars and could offer no further assistance. We had to go elsewhere and rent a car, with a significant price difference.

I did not like the service at all. My flight was delayed and when I pick up my reservation the was gone and the vehicle was gave it away. It was very very inconvenient, my whole family was left hanging, it cost me a lot of money, this is the worst day traveling in my life.

This place was very rude very dishonest they gave us a horrible winter we reserved a minivan they didn’t tell us till we got there that there was no more and they had to give us a smaller vehicle when we check the inventory in the back they had more minivans And said we still can’t have one they were not given us one even though we reserved it

Pick up and drop off was extremely quick and easy! We picked up our vehicle at JFK on 9/4 late in the evening and dropped off our vehicle back at JFK on 9/6 early in the morning and every single staff member was kind and helpful. I wish I would’ve asked their names to include in this review. Great customer service and extremely friendly staff members!

I just checked my bank account and I got charged $658.56 for my car rental. It should've been $408.56. Please correct this amount ASAP otherwise I will dispute the charge with Chase.

The staff was super helpful and friendly. One of the best experiences I've had picking up a car in NYC.I wish the tank was full when I picked it up. It's a bit more complex to return a tank at 5/8 than to return one that is full.
