Long Line to pickup, inefficent dropoff
Pros: car was clean and of the class we reserved
Cons: The line was long and slow on the Saturday evening (10:30pm) we arrived. Desk staff was not efficient and seem unenthusiastic about helping. At drop off, the staff insisted we show a receipt for gas purchase. We didn't save the receipt because in past experience, the staff simply turn the car on an see the gas tank reading full...which ours was.

loved the hybid
Pros: I really liked that we had a hybrid car. It was kind of fun to check out the features and we saved a lot on fuel! Only had to fill up to return and we only use a half a tank for four days. Check in was super easy and they were very nice, check-in and check out folks.
Cons: $15 a day for an extra driver. That's crazy. Others let spouse add on for free. Got a some information at check out that wasn't accurate but it worked out ok. We were told to check in inside on our return to used a different card for the final bill and we needed to bring fuel receipt. Neither was true. Minor argument between me and my husband but all turned out fine.

poor road side assistance
Cons: the card had a slow leak in the front tire that eventually went flat right as i was leaving for an important event. i called road side assistance and they said it would be 2 hours to get someone to me and then i would have to take the car all the way back to the airport to exchange it. Why would they not just bring a car to me and take the other one back with them? i ended up having to pay for the tire repair myself and then they refused to credit me the amount back. I was late for my flight when i dropped the car off so they just ignored my request and said it was not their problem. Do not rent from Dollar.

Pros: Nothing, compared to my expirience with other rental companies at RSW (Budget, AVIS). Never again with Dollar!
Cons: Expensive insurance costs far more than the rental fee and baby seats are expensive extra as well. In sum more than the double price of what I have payed for other rentals before. Never again.

Very happy with my rental

Cons: everything! I was deceived about the location of the car rental facility and would have had to pay a cab approx. $60.00 each way to get the rental. I tried to contact personnel to get my money back and was told that a $100.00 cancellation fee was applied even though I never rented the car. What a terrible experience. I don't wish it on anybody. I will never rent a car with Hertz again.

Pros: The individual who did the return check on my vehicle was the most pleasant and helpful HERTZ employee I had met on the trip.
Cons: I booked a reservation for Fort Meyers Florida and when I arrived to the airport HERTZ counter with my 3 children I was advised the office I booked with was 40 minutes out of the airport and a $60 cab ride. Upon arrival at the advised location, we were informed that this location closed at 1 PM and we had to go to a 3rd location. Thank goodness I had the cab wait at location #2 or my children and I would have been stranded.
The issue is that NONE of the above was communicated to me when I did my online booking.

AWFUL customer service
Cons: They had my car at the wrong location-- not even at the airport, and then were not even willing to help me with transferring the reservation from one location to the airport so that I could get to my hotel. Just really a lack of effort to assist me after a very late flight arrival- I will never be booking with them again.

OK, but make sure you read fine print
Pros: Car (Kia Soul) was comfortable and got good gas mileage. Price was decent for most part.
Cons: Didn't realize I was going to be charged extra for an additional driver until I was reading the fine print. The are a couple ways to get around that though, fortunately one which I qualified for.
Car was not washed, had no windshield wiper fluid in it and only had a quarter tank of gas in it when we got it.
Office was rather dirty and unprofessional looking and it took about 25 minutes to return car.

I was absolutely delighted with the service & attention I received from your employee Dianna Izquierdo Asst Mgr at your Fowler St., Fort Myers FL branch. I had confused some paper work and she sorted it out very efficiently & to my total satisfaction.
Pros: Staff was friendly, courteous, and very helpful. I appreciated how quick the car was brought up to us, and the ease of turning in was a breeze.
Cons: The car needed it's windows cleaned--it was slightly dangerous driving conditions when we left, and the windows were extremely dirty inside.

Amazing power. Lots of room.
Don't know why they gave me a $50,000 truck when there were $16,000 econ boxes on the lot, but God bless them.

Upgraded at no extra charge
Pros: Arrived at ACE and had more luggage than would fit in car. They upgraded us to full size SUV at no extra charge. Took minutes to pickup and return car and no hard sell. Shuttle arrived promptly both ways and very courteous staff. Prices far better than the big guys.
Cons: Long walk from terminal to shuttle was only downside.

Unexplained 2nd charge after I returned a replacem
Cons: After a "catastrophic" flat tire at high speed, I got a replacement vehicle which had an almost "empty" gas tank and was very dirty!
After I returned this replacement vehicle (I was a day late, which was an error on my part!) I asked the Manager of the Ace office if he could discount the extra day for me .... as a good will gesture for the above mentioned flat tire - which very easy could have resulted in injury to me, or damage to the car + the in convenience of changing the tire on a busy main street!. In the end, approx 1/2 of my $200 deposit was credited to my credit card BUT, after I returned to my home and 3 days later,, I noticed a 2nd unexplained Charge of $170.99 to my credit card. I have left a message for the Manager, Mr. Gary Lewis but - as of today (12/13 - 7 days after the posting of the unexplained charge - I still have not gotten any response from the Ace folks!!

Cons: When we arrived to the facility we waited in line for approx 30-45 min only to be announced at that time that the company was out of all cars. We had to take the shuttle back to the airport to get a different rental for over double the price for a walk up price. This is all after we had a reservation. Terrible experience. Not worth the better price.
Pros: Clean, new car, got an upgrade for no cost because booked size was not available.
Cons: They charged to return to different location. Car wasn't ready when I went to pick it up.

Great vehicle/ Difficult pick up
Pros: We rented a Ford Flex for a 1400 mile drive. We were carrying a decent amount of cargo.
It was an excellent choice. Very comfortable and great highway ride.
Cons: Picking up at RSW was long and tedious. About 30 people in front of us in line with only 3 Budget folks working the desk. A very long wait.

Fine car; just be careful at check-in
Pros: Car was fine-- clean, new, no problems. I returned it early and wasn't charged for the unused day.
Cons: Rather than asking me if I wanted to take the optional insurance, the agent at the check-in counter just stated, "And you'll be taking the full coverage...". In the same manner, he was going to give me an SUV, and I had to tell him I didn't request or want an SUV. However, I got exactly what I wanted.
Pros: Reasonable price for this rental. Nice compact car - Elantra - enough room for two people and good gas mileage.

Pros: Dropping off a rental car in Fort Myers is incredibly convenient. I waited no more than maybe a minute, was greeted by an extremely friendly employee and received my receipt and was on my way within five minutes. Exactly as a rental car drop off should be.
Pros: We had a positive experience with the staff in Jacksonville, and very much enjoyed our VW bug convertible.
Cons: Front tires were extremely low on tread, car was not cleaned well, inside windows were hard to see out of.

Misleading bait and switch
Cons: They reserved me a rental from the wrong store in the city, not the airport. I only discovered this at the airport; and when I asked to switch, the 1-week charge went from around $175 to over $500. I had to cancel and luckily one of the other airport rental stores gave me a similar rate on the spot.

Pros: Was a great deal thanks to Kayak. However, the pick up location was not at the airport. Even though when I booked the car rental I picked the RSW airport location. Upon arriving at the airport Enterprise Desk, the employee didn't care about the mistake and was borderline rude about it. I ended up spending $50 bucks on a taxi to go to a different location across town with a taxi driver who got lost and didn't know his way around town and ended up running the meter up on me. Upon arrival at the new location, the manager Matt was very helpful and apologized for the misunderstanding. He got us into a Jeep Patriot which overall was a decent ride. He waived the drop off fee to the airport as well. Once in the car, we were happy with it. However between the employee at the airport being not giving a care, and the fiasco of being stressed out about not having transportation upon arriving at the airport after traveling all day, my wife getting frustrated with ME over the situation which I had zero control over while we are supposed to be on vacation, I give the overall experience an OKAY. Thank you for your time.

Cons: Had to pay a cab to get to Enterprise. The airport Enterprise was not helpful in arranging transportation to the off-airport Enterprise and, in fact, sent me to the wrong Enterprise. The cab rides to and from the Enterprise cost an extra $25 each way, $50 total. I thought Enterprise would provide free shuttle. This was a hassle and waste of money. I will not use Enterprise again.

Cons: I was told I needed to take a cab to the Enterprise that was not located at the airport, I had to take a cab because they did not have shuttle service. When i asked the staff at Enterprise if I could just switch my rental agreement with the Enterprise not located at the airport with them, they told me NO, they were all booked up, AND ARGUMENTATIVE! When I inquired about the cab fee I was told it would be $30, for those paying attention the total fee would be $60.00 for round trip!
Within minutes of being told this by the staff at Enterprise, my friend logged on directly to Enterprise, via her smartphone and was able to rent a car from Enterprise from the airport... Funny, they did not have cars available!!!! POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!
Pros: When we arrived the car reserved had a problem. The front passenger seat was to low for my wife to easily see out the windshield. The seat could be adjusted forward and back but not up or down. We inquired about getting a more suitable car and one was provided immediately. The new (different) model worked out perfectly. We got almost 40 mpg with the 2016 Nissan Versa provided. We liked the car and how quickly our need was met by your staff.

Great value, Amazing customer service
Pros: Payless was a great value, the customer service was amazing. On our return trip we were pulling into the lot as the shuttle driver was heading out to the airport but he saw us and turned back around then helped us get all of our stuff loaded quickly and right to the airport. Over 100 trips raken, I've never had a shuttle driver do that. It meant the world to us traveling with a 1yr old!
Cons: In an attempt to freshen the car for us an employee checking the fluids also sprayed the car down with water which seems nice but it left bad water spots on the mirrors and windshield that made it hard to see. We stopped at the first gas station to clean them. Not a big deal but if we had to suggest something perhaps just quick dry the mirrors :)

Late Opening Hours!
Pros: Check in couldn't have been smoother. Probably the quickest I have ever been processed and out the door.
Cons: They don't open up until 7:00. If you have an early am flight, you're screwed! That was never disclosed to us so when we arrived shortly before 7:00 to see locked doors and dark lights we went into panic mode. Luckily, they arrived shortly after we did for transportation to the airport. Buyer beware! New operation, so maybe if they will adjust or at least disclose this during booking.

Ford Focus Pile of Junk
Pros: The car that PAYLESS rented to me at RSW airport was a Ford Focus. The instant I drove it our of their lot, I noticed that the low tire pressure light was on. Apparently, they did not even bother to check the car before renting it.Additionally, the transmission (with 38,000 miles on it) slipped badly.
When I telephoned them to complain, after driving 42 miles one way to my Florida home, they told me to drive back to the airport at my own expense to exchange the car. When I told them about the danger of driving a car with very low tire pressure, and the difficulty in steering, they told me to either bring the car back to the airport, or get it repaired, and they would possibly "reimburse" me.
I am simply disgusted with the lack of real s=customer service at PAYLESS>

Cons: I didn't arrive to the airport until 12 am. They closed at 10 pm. I ended up renting a vehicle from another company. I called the next day to see if I could pick the car up and they said that my reservation was canceled and we're going to charge me 2 times as much. I kept the car that I had and ended up paying $100 more than my reservation was for.
Cons: well- last car left on lot-did not notice it had a damaged corner-no one told me.was worried some one had backed in to me -no problem-was previous damage-was told to bring car back with a full tank- no problem-was not told to save the receipt-same problem with the furious couple in front of me- gas charges- car attendants must get a cut. second - my mother collapsed 2 hrs before the return at 11am-although my day ended at 7pm-called the rental number -connected to the philipines-asked for another 24 hrs-was told my rate would increase from 270 dollars to 670 dollars.would now be considered a weekly rental.ok i will return the car and rent another.was given and additional charge because the car was returned a few hrs after the scheduled time- but still within the 24 hr period -crazy or what-i asked the philipine person to schedule a 1 day rental- 170 dollars-forget that-found a 41 dollar rental on the internet- got the second car -everything ok - returned the following day within minutes of the scheduled drop off-with a gas receipt and full tank-attendants said do not a receipt -we can tell if tank is full by starting car. what a bad experience .have always rented from you-without any problems-do you deserve a second chance?

Cons: It was not the truck I expected. It was not comparable to what was advertised. It was the only unit on hand and it could not perform my task. Almost 600.00 for 5.5 days was not a good value as I now had to hire and pay 250.00 to someone to do my work.
Also, on the day that I picked up the unit, it rained previously that day and road spray splashed up from passing vehicles. There wash no solvent in the windshield wash tank so for safety sake I had to get off the next exit and buy a gallon to fill the tank. I won't avoid Thrifty, but I won't recommend either.

Cons: They tell you that when you take rte 75 north from Fort Meyers to Tampa there is approx 70.00 in tolls and for 52.00 you can get a plate pass that allows you to go through the tolls instead of going through the cash booth. There was not one toll on 75 North!!!. i asked for a refund and they told me to read the fine print in the contract. No refunds!! they proceeded to hang up. DO NOT USE THRIFTY!!!

Can't park here to checkout rental, so relocated me to another area, didn't have available rental that i requested a week in advance, didn't accommodate, with alike or better, asked for toll plate and purchase to a full tank, upon returning, they didn't add which made me go back in and wait in line to add to my already paid purchase and said that that is nit like their employees to not add if requested so basically called me a lier. Then put me overboard with telling me u need to thank me about not tolling ur car away due to nit being able to park over night which i didnt, rented for same day 10hrs. Explained that i was relocated to the area were i parked and apparently was not supposed too. Will never rent from here again, ever. Wish i could get my money back to have spent elsewhere.

Pros: Was able to get a 9 day mini van rental in Fort Myers for 2/3 the price of all other competing companies. Was able to upgrade to a brand new Ford Expedition (we have family of 6) for still less than the price I would have paid for a competitor's minivan.
Cons: Off airport location and spotty shuttle service (only 1 operating from what I could tell) meant a 30 min wait at Fort Myers airport for pickup. We had a long drive ahead of us that night so every minute mattered.

The city was sold out except advantage
Pros: The lady at the desk was phenomenal. Never lost her cool and was patient and helpful.
Cons: They doubled the rates bc they could. Mediocre older car with noises. The other companies were sold out due to local demand. So they jacked up rates and had older cars. It was ok but I hate feeling victimized by greedy companies. It's already expensive to travel.

Cons: Long line of people waiting outside in hot, muggy weather with mosquitos to get their rental car. Line didn't move in 30 minutes. People in front of me had waited over an hour and hadn't moved. I was so glad we didn't prepay or we would have been stuck waiting with the rest of them. Called a taxi and switched rental companies! Wish I would have known Advantage was the same as EZ rental in Fort Meyers as we rented there before and had a bad experience. We were surprised when the shuttle dropped us off at the same location and saw they were one and the same. The company needs to staff accordingly. It shouldn't be a surprise that they are busy since most people reserve ahead of time.

Pros: the car was good
Cons: long waiting line only one person at counter
Cons: I rented from EZ Rent- A -Car based on price and the fact that I could have a Ford Focus. "No such thing here" is what they said at EZ.
Rental building was poorly lit, signage in the front of the building was poor and the office personnel didn't like their jobs.
Their attitude was litigious with extra charges in case I trashed the car.
Right - I'm a 62 year old grandma. The tire light activated and revealed an overinflated tire. Glad it didn't blow. Never again. To top it off the client in front of me got the same car $75.00 cheaper.

VERY LONG LINES FOR PICKUP - NEVER AGAIN!
Pros: The drop off experience was the complete opposite (Great!) of our pickup. The Shuttle Drivers both ways were very helpful.
They were the cheapest for the category car that I wanted, however I would have gladly paid 25% more to be onsite at the airport with a well staffed agency.
Cons: Understaffed, no indoor waiting area. Their facility used to be a detail shop, so it is not really setup to have a customer lounge etc.
It took an hour to get to me in line and I was the 4th person. The desk staff, while friendly, needed to be doubled.
Car was a 2014 Camry with 33K miles on it. I didn't notice at pickup (outside in the rain!) that the rear bumper had been hit and folded under. I noted scratches and dents on every panel of the car. While they did vacuum it, it was clear they did a rush job in wiping down the interior surfaces of the car, as there was sun block on the door and center console.

Pros: The customer service was excellent and friendly both pick up and return and the rate was really good
Soon I pulled in the parking lot to return the rental there were an attendant there to direct me it was a great experience

Cons: Alamo never sent me confirmation e- mail.. I booked soon in advance never recieved anything from them thought I booked with Ace rent a car not Alamo.. Crisis would have been averted had Alamo or Kayak sent me something prior to my reservation.
Lesson learned , don't rent from Alamo

Pros: Drop off was easy and quick.
Cons: Didn't have a mini van as promised. After arguing looking at an SUV and then 2 cars a mini van appeared. Worked out in the end but a long line of upset customers.

Pros: I received a free upgrade - I was supposed to rent a Corolla but was instead given a brand new Altima.
Cons: An absolutely purgatorial experience. There were two extremely beleaguered employees working the desk, both of them were apparently car washers who'd been shanghai'd into working the desk role that day. They were relatively pleasant and did the job to the best of their ability but they were completely overwhelmed. There were no directives of any sort from any management, there were no cars to rent, eventually people were allowed to pick whatever car they wanted and drive off with it. My receipt has a good deal of wrong information on it, I'm hoping my deposit gets returned to me smoothly but I am less than optimistic about it.

Avoid at all costs
Cons: The car was falling apart, the bumper was loose, the car shook aggressively at 60mph. I have never had such a bad experience with a rental car. I will never rent from E Z rental car again.
Cons: I was strongly encouraged to take upgrade from what I thought was a very small car. Turns out I wanted original compact and ended up paying more for a size I didn't need.
Trunk strap broken.

Pros: The agent at FT. Myers who checked me in was very nice though and did another work around so that I would not be delayed for my departure. His name was Mark and he was very helpful.
Cons: Unfortunately, the change in the vehicle I believe resulted in some communication problem when I dropped the car off at FT Myers.
The car would not scan in. Don't know if it is related or not, but either way that was a small delay.
The agent there was very nice though and did another work around so that I would not be delayed for my departure.

Pros: The vehicle itself was fine.
Cons: I waited over one hour to receive the vehicle I reserved. After waiting 30 minutes in a line for those with and without reservations, I was informed that the original vehicle I reserved was not available and offered an upgrade for a discount. After accepting the second vehicle I walked out the assigned spot to find a smaller unacceptable vehicle instead. I then had to speak to two additional staff to resolve the issue for another 30 wasted minutes.

Pros: Almost everything
Cons: I was told I needed a larger car because my choice was dangerous. In fact it was the compact I wanted. I am from Europe and am very comfortable with compact cars. The car was too expensive for me. there was a loose rubber lining in the trunk.

Read the fine print!
Pros: Nice car.
Cons: I needed to return early, did not read the fine print that I needed to rent it for a specific number of hours. I did not get credit for returning it early even though they can turn around and rent it out. I will NEVER rent from Avis again, EVER and inform everyone I know not to!
