  • Drink-driving is a very serious offence in Italy, and anyone found driving over the limit will be prosecuted accordingly. Repercussions could be anything from a fine to imprisonment. If the police believe you to be under the influence of alcohol, then they will perform a breathalyser test on you. The legal limit of blood alcohol content in Italy is 0.05%. You should avoid alcohol well in advance of driving.
  • Children must be in a suitable restraint in the vehicle so that you’re abiding by the laws. Children under 15 months need to be in a rear-facing child seat. Kids under 4 years of age must be in a forward-facing child restraint. Whereas those under 12 years of age must be in a booster seat, or have a booster cushion.
  • Most car hire agencies in the Dolomites will permit you to drive your vehicle across the border to other countries, such as Germany or Austria.
