Il Borgo di Genova - Genoa - Bedroom
1
9.2 Excellent (238 reviews)
S$ 100+
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Il Borgo di Genova in Genoa (San Fruttuoso), you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Luigi Ferraris Stadium and Piazza de Ferrari.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is great, really nice room. Good service perfect stay!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The accommodation is in an old but very nice/ typical Italian building, close by Brignole train/ metro station. So the location is very good (Brignole train/ metro station is one of the main stations in Genoa). You can find nearby different stores and trattoria(s). If you would like, you can walk to the (old) city center, Genoa Porto Antico, Piazza Ferrari, etc (15-30 minutes). The rooms are very clean and the bed is comfortable. The owner is very friendly and is always around, ready to help/ provide you with information you might need.
Cons: There is a small (and probably busy in the morning) pedestrian street, which is used in the morning to easily reach the metro/ train station. It could be a bit noisy in the morning but if you keep the window close there is no problem.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was very central, within 2 minutes of the train, metro and local taxi rank. It was also pretty central to walk to the shops and conveniences
Cons: Unfortunately the stairs are pretty step which I understand is standard for Genoa, as other people in local hotels said there were not lifts and they had to walk up flights of stairs
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Giovanni was incredibly helpful. We needed additional assistance because we were travelling with wedding cakes which needed repairing after the flight. After that was sorted he asked us if we needed anything else, which he didn't need to do.
Cons: Unfortunately the stairs were difficult for my mum due to her age but I understand this is typical for the region.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect.
6.3 Good
Pros: Giovanni was very helpful and willing to give us detailed information about everything. Check in was quick and easy and the communication with Giovanni was great.
Cons: The room wasn’t very clean and the bathroom towels had a musty smell when wet. Petit entrance with very steep stairs! The neighborhood was a bit strange because the rooms are behind the railway station.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Easy to get to, very close to Brignole Station, 30 mins on Vola Bus from airport and just €6 each! The property is 10-15 mins walk to Piazza Ferrari, a great place to begin exploring the city. Giovanni was an excellent host, very helpful with where to visit and places that were not so necessary (we only had 1 full day in Genoa). Our flight was delayed which was not a problem for checking in. We were also left a map in the room on arrival with great information circled and suggested for all kinds to see and do! Overall a very good experience with the property, could have stayed longer!
7.1 Good
Pros: Very pretty decor and spacious. It is very close to Brignole Station.
Cons: We knew about the stairs, so I’m not going to complain, just be warned there are a lot of stairs and very steep. The manager helps with the bags so that is a bonus. The heating is switched off at night so be prepared in the colder months. There are a few sachets of coffee and tea but no milk provided.
Hotel Le Nuvole - Residenza D'epoca - Genoa - Bedroom
2
9.1 Excellent (701 reviews)
S$ 176+
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hotel Le Nuvole - Residenza d'Epoca, you'll be centrally located in Genoa, steps from National Ligurian Gallery at the Spinola Palace (Galleria Nazionale di Palazzo Spinola) and 3 minutes by foot from White Palace (Palazzo Bianco). Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. Guests may use a roundtrip airport shuttle for a surcharge, and limited parking is available onsite.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a lovely time during our 3-night stay in Genoa. We were in a "deluxe" room with a view on the Chiesa delle Vigne (highly recommended). The room is on two floors, with a spacious living area downstairs and a loft upstairs. Breakfast was at the nearby Palazzo Grillo, in three bright rooms on the fifth floor, with Hay (or Hay-like) chairs and tables and pretty views on the roofs of Genoa -- the selection was excellent, with numerous salty and sweet options for all tastes (there are also fresh focaccia and homemade cookies and cakes). A great way to start the day! Le Nuvole also has a cute area with tables for guests and a tea/coffee service at all times, with cookies in the afternoon and early evening. The hotel is in the historic center, very close to the Rolli and the Cathedral of San Lorenzo. We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend the hotel.
Cons: I absolutely loved the minimalist design, but a couple of things could be slightly improved to increase comfort in the room. The bathroom only had one hook for towels -- adding a second one closer to the door or on the back of the door would help, since there is more than one guest using the room :) Also, it seems that whoever installed the coat hanger in the hallway and the soap dish in the shower had in mind giants!! We're average height, but we had to strain to put our coats in the closet every time. The soap in the shower is placed really high and there's no other nook or platform to put it, which made for slightly awkward showers every day.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were stressed from a bad experience in our previous town and it was pouring. The manager went out of her way to make us feel at home. She gave us an upgrade to our room, told us to go, have coffee, relax, then come down and finish the payment process. It was just what we needed. The room was gorgeous, super clean, spaceous, the coffee and cookies were amazing, and the people really pushed it over the top--so kind and accommodating. Every one of them. The bathrooms and decor were updated, modern, and very clean. Shower had a rainfall waterhead and worked perfectly. They even got us a taxi to go to the airport, so getting there was the hardest part. I read previous reviews about the hotel being difficult to find and they were right. When we left and came back, we always looked for the ice cream shop to recall where to turn in. The hotel was amazing.
Cons: We loved everything about it. It was slightly hard to find, but once you find it, you will easily find it again after you wander around this gorgeous city. People in shops and restaurants were welcoming and spoke enough English that we didn't feel like foreigners.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely bed and pillows. Water, tea and coffee in a guest sitting area. There is an elevator. Across the piazza from a beautiful church. Plenty of restaurants in the area.
Cons: The hotel was a bit hard to find because taxi has to drop you off in a nearby piazza. I was traveling after dark. I felt safe, just a bit confused by the narrow streets. Otherwise, a good location.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is situated in the old town of Genova. Walking there late at night from the station is not very comfortable, but doable. But I think, I wouldn't do it again, and if, only in company. The hotel is furnished and designed very tastefully. You can see it in the pictures and it is exactly like that. The staff is extremely kind, every single person from the check-in to the breakfast staff and check-out! I paid the breakfast in addition. Everything was very fresh, the fruit delightful. The only thing I have missed, was a "vero caffè Italiano". The room was bright and big, the bathroom with window, bright too. It was a perfect stay and I will certainly come again.
Cons: Absolutely nothing.
7.0 Good
Pros: Old stylish building
Cons: Mirrors for 1m 65 hight, too many lamps and Buttons that are hard to switch off
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very nice building, just in the center of the old town.
Cons: Streets around in the evening are not "feel safe".
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a fantastic space! We had a double that had a loft. Friends staying at the same time had a smaller double - both were very nice rooms. Although ours was bigger, theirs had a better view. I found going up and down the stairs to go the bathroom a bit challenging at night - but it was nice to have the extra "sitting room" to entertain our friends. Beautifully decorated. Nice big windows. Fantastic location and quiet even though off an occasionally busy square. Very nice common areas and totally appreciated that you could go grab a carafe of sparkling or still water for your room - and tea and coffee etc. Elevator for luggage etc. and in a great location. The hotel provides all sorts of information when you book - including walking instructions to find them - which I suggest you follow as old town Genoa has many small streets and is easy to get lost! Their instructions were clear and easy and got us there no problem. They also recommended a parking lot - which worked well for us. The desk staff in the sister hotel (where you check in) were really lovely to deal with, and although the sister hotel was a "higher end" hotel (it has absolutely stunning common rooms), I was very pleased with our room and our hotel next door.
7.0 Good
Pros: Clean & Stylish - good communal lounge area.. Situated in the old town ...
Cons: Very noisy street at night - hard to find as it was down a very narrow alley way

Pros: Hotel is nice and close to beach. Quite and convenient to go to Genoa by train. 15 minutes. However, not very baby friendly. We took our baby for traveling since he was 3 months old and first time we got charged for baby. The rest is good in this hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful room, very big with two windows, lovely views and a balcony. Coffee machine and drawer with cups and glasses etc. Large en-suite all very clean with nice toiletries, slippers and dressing gown supplied. Lovely food, we had one evening meal in the restaurant and one room service meal, both were lovely. Breakfast was excellent with lots to chose from. Free parking onsite and good WiFi. Lovely walk down to the sea with a little beach if you walk one way and a little town if you go the other way.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is perfect, wonderful decor, unique style hotel, parking, breakfast selection amazing, and very nice comfortable room.

Cons: Bath was small (and I’m 1.79 m.) and has sharp edge (marble). It’s beautiful and luxurious but you can’t relax in the bath. Well that’s all. The rest was really good.

Pros: It is a a great central location
Cons: I couldn’t regulate the temperature in the room very well
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Bristol Palace is at the edge of the historic center in easy walking distance to all sights and attractions. This is a classic hotel, 4 stars that almost feels like 5. The overall feel was very good. The service is excellent, and the price quite moderate for its standards. The rooms are comfortable.
Cons: The hotel seems to cut some corners on housekeeping, and the quality of ingredients for the included breakfast are only fair.
7.1 Good
Pros: Central location...
Cons: After fourth stay they provided me a room with single room. Last four time was booked french bed, this time forgotten...No CRm :)
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was excellent, the bed very comfy and a nice selection of products in the bathroom. Great central and safe location and truly beautiful building with an amazing staircase. Good value for a 4*.
Cons: Bathroom too small, shower curtain was half the size it needed to be to not put water everywhere! Also very dusty, I know it's hard to keep on top of that but I could almost write my name in it on the bedside table, but I just gave it a wipe, still a very nice stay. Also, they claimed to have bath robes on the website, but there were none available, and I hadn't brought mine for that reason, it was a little cold in January without it..
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was absolutely outstanding! We loved the entire hotel, The breakfast room was divine and the food was varied and scrumptious. We would definitely stay in this hotel again!

Pros: Great location, super clean, super new. Easy to park in the Coin Parking. Near nice commercial areas, bus stops, walking distance from nice restaurants, subway.

Pros: Excellent location close but not inside the old town which can be not very pleasant in the evening. Easy walking distance form Brignole train station for Cinque Terre villages etc. and close to all Genova attractions. Take Volabus from airport to Brignole or piazza Ferrari and walk 5-7 min. The hotel is in the middle of XX September street. Breakfast is quite sufficient including a small choice of hot dishes (scrambled eggs, sausages). Rooms are big enough. All in all we were more than happy to stay in this hotel and can recommend it.
Cons: The matrass could have been more comfortable. Very big people will struggle getting into the shower.

Pros: Nice view on the Marina. Comfortable bed. Huge shower. Spotlessly clean.

Pros: The Location, Free parking, The view, Spacious rooms, Great value for money
Cons: a bit hard to reach by car
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room upgrade and the marina view were outstanding!
Cons: Nothing really... maybe the fact that the shuttle bus to the airport was not available.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is perfect for me for work. The property is so clean and well designed and the rooms are very spacious and comfortable. I was upgraded to a wellness room with a Turkish bath! Staff are very friendly and helpful too.
7.0 Good
Pros: The room had a nice view from the terrace over the marina. Nice furniture on the terrace which unfortunately we could not use because of the weather. Good car parking outside the hotel. Nice big room.
Cons: Virtualy impossable to find. A 2 year old car sat nav did not recognise it. It took over an hour to find it only travelling 3 miles from the ferry port. Do not understand why there was a clear glass wall seperating the bedroom from the bathroom and toilet. lighting really confusing in the room. Using the toilet during the night meant the light lit up the bedroom as well because of the clear glass wall. Breakfast rather poor and limited for a 4 star hotel. Not worth the money.

Pros: Staff Room Place Almost everything
Cons: Nothing

7.0 Good
Pros: Lovely staff and really cute and quirky hostel. Comfy beds and good location.
Cons: A mirror in the room could have been nice(just an idea so you don’t have to take up a bathroom). And some of the toilet doors didn’t really shut and people would push them when you were in and could see you through the middle. Same if you were showering.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely, clean hostel; located close to a main train station, and a short walk into the city center. Best part though was the offered guided tour around the city with Spyros. 100% recommend this tour if staying here (or if not, try to join, runs every day). Was absolutely fascinating to hear about the journey from such a passionate and knowledgeable local. 9.6 Excellent
Pros: Clean, comfortable, with excellent staff and free WiFi. Good breakfast and location. I stayed for 5 nights on business and it was perfect for what I needed. Good value too.
Cons: Only thing to be aware of is that there are around 20 steps to reach reception, which is inconvenient if, like me, you have a lot of heavy equipment. The hotel itself has a lift to all floors.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: location in Genova downtown close to public parking. Breakfast is very good for the price (5€) Staff was very nice
Cons: well nothing ...

Pros: The hotel was modern and clean. Our flight arrived late, so it was a good solution until the rental car office opened the following day. The room was comfortable and the bathroom was quite nice (with a rain drop shower). Breakfast was decent.
Cons: The decor in the lobby is a little insipid and the hotel is located in an industrial zone. It is only 5 minutes from the airport.

Cons: Stylish and comfortable
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice with a lot of amenities. Great value for the price, they have a shuttle for Genoa airport which makes it very easy .

Cons: Difficult to find especially by night
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice view on the Marina. Comfortable bed. Huge shower. Spotlessly clean.
Cons: There was no shuttle service to the airport. A taxi charged us 15 euros for a few meters. But as there is no pedestrian passage you are forced to be driven there.
10.0 Excellent
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff Room Place Almost everything
Cons: Nothing

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location in the center. Very clean and nice interior.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Dining room staff
Cons: GRAND SAVOIA is the name of the Hotel, NOT Continental. Reception staff should not pretend they speak/understand English well when they don't.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great friendly staff. Awesome breakfast. Ideal location, close to everything and opposite train station. Lovely jacuzzi on roof terrace with awesome view!
Cons: Nothing to complain about.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A perfect location next to the train station. The breakfast was excellent. The staff was friendly and the room was spacious.
Cons: Nothing to dislike.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Upon arrival we were upgraded to an executive room on the 5th floor. I opened the door to see a marble inlay floor and all beautiful rosewood furniture. The bathroom was marble and new. The bedroom must be the cleanest I have stayed in. The restaurant has a great menu at a good price. It is in a good location, close to the train station and some nice shops and cafes. The hotel also has a rare, integral but scenic lift.
3.0 Mediocre
Cons: Travelers beware! I booked Hotel Continental Genova which was advertised as the modern looking hotel. But when we got there, we were told to move to their brotherly hotel next door (Hotel Savoia Genova) in which the rooms are in the very old Italian style which we didn’t care for. Here is one thing for you to think about, when you walk in to Hotel Continental Genova, you don’t even see the reception area where you can check-in. Does this tell you a lot!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good access to main railway station. Comfortable, well-equipped and furnished room.

3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The location of the property was ideal for us. Close to the port, airport and train station.
Cons: We stayed at the property on the 26th to 28th of Dec. I had booked 4 rooms for 10 persons. Out stay was good and the staff at reception Halima was great. However, when we came back on the 4th, the staff at the reception desk Vivianna wasn’t helpful at all and very inconsiderate. This time I booked 3 rooms for 8 persons. My dad was sick and needed to just rest. As we were a few hours early for the normal 2pm check in, I kindly asked the lady at reception to allow us to at least have one room for him to rest. But she wasn’t helpful and we only got all rooms at 2.34pm. The room allocated to my dad was 222. It’s quite embarrassing that you allow guests to stay in room 222 with a very bad flooring which makes noise with every step you make. The two nights we stayed in December were good, but the one night in January wasn’t. We certainly didn’t want to end of holiday at your hotel in that way.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is in a very good location, especially if you are traveling by train. Right next to the train station and relatively close to the historic center. The room was large, warm and clean. The staff is helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice hotel in city centre of Genoa. Large room, with everything you need - comfy bed, all very clean, nice bathroom, toiletries, beautiful view from the windows, etc. The hotel is located very close to train station, also short walk distance to the harbour and other places. Definitely I would stay again when I come back to Genoa. :o)
Cons: Everything ok.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Helpful staff
Cons: No complaints
6.7 Good
Cons: Our room was quite sad and the WiFi signal was really bad. The breakfast is mediocre as there were very few choices and no fruits.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very kind and helpful. Check in and check out very quick and efficient.

6.3 Good
Pros: The breakfasts were terrific - much more than we expected. And the staff was very polite and helpful. Plus the location is good and our room was quiet. But...see below
Cons: The hotel is overall very dingy with worn rugs and bad wall paint - everything needs an update. The elevators were ancient and worn out looking, but they worked and were fast. I can't recommend the hotel until it get a fresh coat of paint and some redecoration. Our room was also quite dark and pretty worn out looking.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Split level for sleeping. Good breakfast. Close to train station
5.0 Okay
Pros: Very good location and friendly staff.
Cons: Old and dirty hotel,it definitely needs a renovation.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice place just outside the train station, excellent if you are just passing by Genoa and only will spent a couple nights, and then take a train to another place like Nice or Florence. Fair price for a good room, and if you are in good shape you can walk to the main attractions of the city.
Cons: The location isn't bad, but is not the best if you want to be near the lively areas of the city.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: After 2 months travelling around the continent by motorbike it was the one and only place that offered us a welcome drink....on the house! Very helpful reception team who also spoke better English than my French!
Cons: If one was looking for something to find fault with I'd say the decor was a bit aged.... but fine really!
6.7 Good
Pros: Friendly staff, good cleaning service. Very central location.
Cons: The property needs urgent renovation.
7.5 Good
Pros: Good value.
Cons: Although it says no smoking in the room, apparently someone smoked in the room and the hotel didn't clean it properly.
6.2 Good
Pros: The reception people was very helpful and nice.
Cons: The room was small and the queen bed was made with two individual mattress, it is uncomfortable because you feel the division
10.0 Excellent
Pros: great breakfast, safe area and good location
6.0 Good
Pros: very close to the center of the city and the train station
Cons: Very, very hard to find with GPS and a good sense of direction. Small hotel signage at the end of a busy one way street - with very limited parking. Good if you are walking or taking a cab - nightmare if you are driving.
