Pros: Everything else wonderful. Location, comfort, owner, decor, cleanliness.
Cons: I would of preferred a bit more choice for breakfast really cereals, yoghurt, pates, cream cheese and jams.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner was very kind and makes you feel like a guest in her home. The house and rooms are adorable and in a great location. A slice of home baked banana bread was left in the room as a welcome.
Cons: It was a little chilly but the radiators work fast. If you’re not comfortable with stairs or able, this would not be the place for you. Also parking is quite far outside of town.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My stay was just perfect, I loved everything - the room, the breakfast, the flowers decorating the windows. Old houses are so special! The owner, Mech, is very welcoming and attentive, and makes excellent coffee, too!
Cons: Really liked everything!

Pros: Everything was great, the whole stay was a great experience,
Cons: Not a lot of parking available in the town but that did not reduce the overall experience
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were delighted with Der kleine Globetrotter. It is a beautiful quirky 'gemutlich' house. The rooms were beautifully presented, roomy, comfortable and clean. I had the Paris room at the back of the house which had great views over the town. The owner was great - friendly, thoughtful and very generous in her time with providing help in planning our daily wanderings. Breakfast was a tasty mix of very fresh and well presented food and it was a bonus having tea and coffee facilities right outside our rooms. Highly recommended.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Right in the center of town the hotel is walking distance from all the main sites. Next to the river, the sound carries up to the rooms and gives a nice peaceful atmosphere. The room was nice and clean and very affordable for its location.
Cons: Really there are no complaints from our end. The owner was good in keeping us informed about the room, location and parking.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The area was fantastic. Very close (walking distance) to awesome cafes, restaurants, Churches, and ruins. Close to the parking area which made everything so much easier. The view of the mighty Ruhr River was breathtaking and made it hard to turn in the keys at the end of it! Awesome kitchenette and quaint rooms all around.
Cons: Staircase was a bit treacherous; proceed up them with caution. Hard to drive just about anywhere in the village, though that's not a problem for me. I stayed with my girlfriend there, and there seemed to be something spooky about the suite, you can make from that what you want.

Pros: Excellent location and breakfast. We stayed there with a 9 month old baby. Rooms are pretty decent and clean but a bit small. The host was very friendly and made our stay pleasant
8.8 Excellent
Pros: In centre of Monschau, easy access
7.9 Good
Pros: Nicely located in the middle of the town, friendly staff and nice breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was excellent. Breakfast was gorgeous. Host went out of his way to accommodate us and make us feel welcome. Beds were comfy. Excellent stay.
Cons: Stairs are very steep but adds to the character of the building. ( didn't bother us)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The check in with Jimmy and indeed the fabulous breakfast
Cons: Our bed was a bit soft
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Burghotel is great! The historical building is easy to find. We got a warm welcome from the owner and our dog could come too :) The room was cosy and clean. The bed was nice and big, sheets where fresh and from our window we had a nice view. Everything we needed for the night. In the morning we were surprised by a huge fresh breakfast served by the owner. Bread, home made jams, lots of cheeses, hams, fruit, eggs, coffee, thee, orange juice.. we could continue for a while. He was also happy to make a packed lunch for us - we were however stuffed from breakfast - and gave us some tips for nice hiking routes. We had an awesome stay!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location is perfect near main bridge and close to the square. There are many places around for eating and sightseeing too. Owners deserve the top class reward for their hospitality
6.3 Good
Pros: The owner was very accommodating and incredibly helpful. He suggested a great place for dinner and breakfast was good as well.
Cons: Top floor is up a flight of stairs and then 2 tight spiral staircases. Awkward to climb when you're fit and able, I can't imagine how less able people would cope. No chance if there is a fire, the instructions say if you can't immediately get out, stay in your room, put wet towels around the door ( how you would achieve this would be an interesting question) and then wave out the window, which for this stay was at the roof line. I wouldn't rate anyone's chances.... Room was tired to say the least and the curtains didn't close, so if you wake up with daylight, expect to be up early in the summer months. Bathroom was 'old' with a hand-held shower on the bath taps. Difficult to shower properly for anyone and nigh on impossible for anyone over 5' 9".

9.0 Excellent
Pros: It was situated in the centre of town with parking only a few minutes walk. Lovely old hotel with wood pannelling in the reception rooms and restaurant, great food and beer and the staff were very friendly.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was our forth stay at Hotel Horchem. Situated right in thecentre of the town on the bank of the river, its a superb location. Like the majority of hotels in Monschau it does not have a car park but there are plenty of car parks within a short walk. You can park just opposite the hotel to unload your bagage then drive to one of the car parks. Our room on the first floor was spacious and well equipped. Down duvets and pillows on a very comfortable bed ensured we had a good nights sleep. As usual, we dined in and had an excellent meal with attentive service. A huge choice of hot and cold food at breakfast time sets you up for the day. I have no hesitation in recommending this lovely hotel.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was very delicious with many choices. The room was warm and welcoming and guests greeted each other.
Cons: Friday night I was kept up by drunks below my window coming out of the hotel bar.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location right at the middle of town. Excellent staff.
Cons: We had room 17. No secondary lock on room door, had to use key to lock door from inside.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location was excellent, in the middle of the city centre. The staff was very friendly and kindly helped us with were to park. The room was simple but very clean and the bed was comfortable.
Cons: The breakfast was a bit simple, which is okay but breakfast was from 8 till 10. The first night we arrived at the breakfast at 9 and they were not getting new food when something ran out. So for example, at 9 there were no scrambled eggs, brown bread, fruit and saucages left and they did not get new food.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: There high level of professionalism and kindness We got a double bed room settled up for 3 since we were 3 friends and unfortunately we had a problem with the extra bed, the hotel gave us a suit room which was much bigger
9.2 Excellent
Pros: It was very quiet and peaceful. The apartment was comfortable and had everything we needed. We were able to play games with the kids that the hotel had on hand. The employees were very friendly.
Cons: Too far from everything. The food was very pricey in the restaurant and the hotel was so far from anything that you had to eat there whether you liked it or not. You were only given two options on the menu which we are not used too, and the kids wouldn't eat.
4.2 Okay
Pros: the check-in is flexible and fast. The Tanzlichtshow is really wonderful.
Cons: 1. on the first day, we did not have the internet in our Ferienhaus, the floor was not so clean. 2. the dinner was really simple and not worth of the price

Cons: Quilt too small Mattress too soft for my liking Noisy Pillows not good WiFi did not work
7.1 Good
Pros: Clean rooms Friendly staff
Cons: Misinformed on booking.com about available facilities on site (no indoor pool, no tennis courts, etc.) The hotel and all facilities are run down. The swing in the playground has rusty nails sticking out. One evening it smelled of cigarette smoke everywhere in the hotel. The food is not amazing You absolutely cannot get any water from tap at the table, you have to buy it. It’s dark, old and kinda depressing
5.1 Okay
Pros: Minigolf, trampolin
Cons: Soft bed with crack, hot room, loud fan noise outside
5.8 Okay
Pros: Easy to find, not easy to leave. Hard to find what was really great. Mini Golf
Cons: We’ve booked a room with lazy check-out (till 1 pm). As we arrived I asked once again at the reception about late check-out. The young lady approved. On the evening we wanted to have dinner. Sorry, but 23€ or something like that for nothing. Next day I came back after race between 11 and 12 to have a shower. My body was full in soap, but they closed the water supply. Thanks. My Wife informed a lady at the reception. The answer - “It gone take sometime”. At the second visit to reception they gave my wife boiling water!!! Why so serious?! So it was new adventure for me. After that we didn’t get apologies from hotel team. Nice Job.
2.9 Mediocre
Pros: Location is ok
Cons: Unfriendly staff. Do not understand English properly. Only dutch. Missing cutlery for breakfast. Charged more than the price on Booking.com !!!

Pros: The owners are really nice people, very helpful, always willing to do the best for their guests. The room was really big, clean and comfortable. It is not a modern hotel, but everything is very well maintained and it has a bit of a retro feeling that makes you really feel like at home. Breakfast is complete and perfect to start the day. The place has also a bar/restaurant, very nice for having a drink, and the food of the restaurant was really good typical german food. Totally recommended!

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great value for money hotel and a lovely stepping off point for the Wilderness Trail. Room was in a separate building across the courtyard, but there are rooms in the main building. Even though close to the road the room was quiet. The hotel restaurant has a good menu and the table served breakfast was tasty.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent staff. Kind and ready to assist you. An upgrade was given as we were with a newborn baby and a dog. Excellent wifi. Ideal position for hiking and visit monschau (easy to reach with a comfortable navette that stops right opposite to the hotel). Breakfast was not a Buffett, but it was more than sufficient
Cons: Hotel is clearly from the '70, although very clean and welcoming
7.1 Good
Pros: The place is also a restaurant. This is convenient as we ate dinner there. The food was good.
Cons: The room was ok, though rather old decor. Our main problem was the bathroom. The sewage smell bad. Not sure if this was just at the room we were given. We didn’t complain as we only stayed for a night. The breakfast is not a buffet style. The ‘bed & breakfast’ serves 4 choices of sandwich meats & some slices of cheese depending on how many of you on a table. No tomatoes, no fresh fruits, no cereals being served. Each person gets a yogurt (no choice of flavor), and only orange juice is available. Overall, just don’t expect very much.
6.3 Good
Pros: The location
5.0 Okay
Pros: The bed and heating were ok
Cons: High price for a simple room. The toilet bowl was loose and a certain moment the floor in the bath room became wet, not because of water... The water tap at the sink was loose. The shower head was spouting aside and it was very difficult to control the water temperature safely.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The best steaks we had in years, and game such as boar, deer was delicious as well. location was outside of the touristic centre of Monschau, we were really happy we got to stay in a quiet place, 3 km from the centre. Staff was really friendly and efficient, they take good care of their guests. Beds were comfortable, there was everything we needed in the room, great value for money. Parking was available in the yard of the hotel
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The price/quality ratio was really good. We had (besides some minor points) a really nice room. The breakfast was also really good.
Cons: The toilets smelled really bad (maybe some problems with the sewerage?). And personally I thought that the pillows were too soft and the matress was too hard.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Communication was good, the room was clean and spacious, the response to questions and solving of the issues was real quick and all the other facilities were good value for the money.

Pros: This is a beautiful place. The bathroom is awesome, the windows allow a lot of light into the home. Location is breathtaking. Love the floors and the barn door sliders. This place is beautiful all the way down to the last detail. So much care was taken to restore this place and make it a very comfortable place to stay. The only thing I regret is not staying longer!

Cons: No real curtains, so rooms light up early in the morning. Parking area for the car was hard to find. There was a parking space, but mentions to be only for the elderly home visitors, other spaces not very clear if parking was allowed. Apartment was big enough for 2 persons, but would not like to stay there with more people. Cleaning fee expensive

Pros: Location was amazing-beautiful walk down to the beautiful town.Literally stuck to the castle walls. The apartment was extremely spacious and well equipped. The owner was extremely kind and helpful and made us feel very welcome.
Cons: Parking could be problematic for more than 1 car-as we had 1 car we could park outside, but it was a squeeze.
7.5 Good
Pros: We stayed at this apartment to visit the Christmas market. The equipments had no problems at all, everything clean and the staff was nice and kind.
Cons: The location was not so bad, but you will need to go up the stairs to reach the apartment from the center of the village. Also they accepted only cash for payment, which was not so convenient.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The fact that this property dates back to 1586 and is built into the castle wall is pretty interesting. The views that the upstairs apartment offers is also quite nice. The location is great because it allows you to adventure Monschau more being that its closer to the perimeter than the center. The property has been renovated to a high standard and is unique, modern and comfortable. The kitchen table invites its guest not just to eat at it but to enjoy quality time together playing card/board games and what not. The amount of kitchenware like cups, plates and utensils was very considerate. Heating and windows with views in each room was really awesome.
Cons: A few quirks about the apartment stood out but wouldn't keep up from coming back, pending who else was in our party. The bathroom and one bedroom door are both glass farm house doors, mostly frosted. In terms of sound and privacy there isn't so much freedom to be free, depending on who else is vacationing with you. Although the kitchen is listed as a kitchenette, it pretty much has everything you need, except for a microwave or oven. This was only an issue when it came to heating up leftovers so we had to get creative with the pots and stove. Finally the last issue was mostly a problem because we came during the low tourist season and it was cold and wet outside, but the satellite TV pretty much only has German speaking shows. But there is free wifi so next time we would just bring cables to hook our stuff up to the TV, or bring DVD's, or a deck of cards.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: What a beautiful view! Lovely location! Clean!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: When we arrived at the property, I telephoned Martin and he was with us within minutes to let us into the apartment and show us around. Thank you, will recommend to friends and family
Cons: Could not have been any better

Pros: Breakfast was not provided but available just a short distance away. The location is great and is right in the middle of Monschau. Very convenient.

Pros: Location
Cons: Steps
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Incredibly comfortable and clean room. The location is fantastic: right in the centre of town. Johannes was incredibly friendly, responsive, and useful. And the price was excellent.
Cons: Nothing. Everything was brilliant.

Pros: We overlooked the river, and had the window open all night so the sound was good too.
Cons: The beds & pillows were too soft for me.

Pros: Really nice authentic hotel, right in the centre. Paid parking available at the entrance of the city. Just 5 min walk. Rooms were nice and clean. Breakfast good as well. Great value for money.
7.0 Good
Pros: Charming hotel with easy access to Christmas market.
Cons: Walls are very thin, which means you can hear people in room next to you.
7.1 Good
Pros: The location was excellent.
Cons: The staff are very dour.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The building was interesting of itself - an original mediaeval guesthouse. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was hearty.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was cozy and nicely presented, rooms were clean and the overall atmosphere was quaint.
Cons: Staff was friendly but without english it was difficult to communicate with them.
7.9 Good
Pros: The location and the view from the room are great. The man who checked us in was very kind and welcoming. The room was very cosy although a bit too warm. The blankets are very soft and comfortable. It's the second time we've stayed here and probably will come back :)
Cons: The breakfast lady could be somewhat more friendly. Our bedside tables were dusty, meaning the cleaning staff was not very thorough. Breakfast is quite overpriced.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very charming place to stay while in Monschau. The late check in was nice. The breakfast was delicious and great service from the couple who own the property. The rooms are cozy and the bed was perfect. I melted right into the bed after a long day of walking through Monschau. Dziekuje Bardzo!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful traditional wood beamed hotel. Great breakfast. Rooms were spotlessly clean and beds very comfortable. Beautiful location in beautiful Monschau. Great value for money.
Cons: Car parks are 5-10 minute walk away which isn’t great. We arrived late around 9pm and after a very long day driving we were looking forward to resting at the hotel with a beer in the beautiful cave bar, part of the reason we booked it but it was closed. We were very disappointed but we did find a great pub with food on the river.

7.5 Good
Cons: The pillows were very thin and low, so we had some back pain in the mornings
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good location and friendly welcome.
Cons: Bar closed from 5:30 to 8:30 pm, just the time you’d want a drink before dinner.
1.0 Poor
Cons: No food available in the evening, staff did not communicate this on check in so did not have options to find somewhere else to eat. Very poor attitude of staff on reception. Will not recommend thus hotel to others, one to avoid!
6.3 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: Long waits for elevator, no cleaning rooms every day, breakfast too little choice
6.7 Good
Pros: It is quite close to the city center. The room was clean, warm (even too warm in the middle of the night). The breakfast was good. Many choices for a continental buffet. The coffee is okeish.
Cons: I am not sure how this hotel got his 4 stars, as it doesn't provide 4stars benefits. To name a few: no safebox in the room, no locker for luggages in the lobby, no slippers, no bathrobe in the room - not even at the pool or sauna. Practically, one should go to the pool with their own shoes, dressed up with city clothes and armed with the only shower towel existing for the stay. The check in is at 3pm no exception. No fridge in the room, no water provided (free or not).
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast included in price. Parking available onsite at additional cost. Great shower and good WiFi.
Cons: Little overpriced but presumably because we were there for the Christmas markets and the town was booked out. Not right in the centre of the town but only a 5 minute walk.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We liked everything!!!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great value for money. Good pool and sauna.
Cons: Limited breakfast selection.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The location is perfect, walking distance from the centre of Monschau. The downstairs bar is cosy and the dining room is large. We received an extra bed in the room and the room was a good size.
Cons: There was only one receptionist on duty when we arrived so we had to wait quite a while to check in. There were only 2 sets of towels in the room but we were 3 persons. The breakfast buffet was OK but there was absolutely no staff on duty or didn't seemed to be, so there was no milk or glasses for the juice. The bath needed cleaning there was mold on the wall.
