The location is great
There are so many more hotels in the area that in our opinion had much more to offer. We experienced a few hotels in the Reykjavik and the others were similar in price (if not less) and the staff was so wonderful and friendly, rooms were above and beyond and the amenities were far superior. Overall would give this a 3 out of 5 star.
Quiet, great location
Great location. Quiet and close to everything. Room was adequate for my purposes and comfortable to sleep in. The staff was helpful and friendly. Will definitely come back.
I arrived at 7am but paid for the night before because I needed to sleep. At 12 noon it here was a nock on the door and a moment later a phone call. They wanted me to check out even though I had a five day reservation . Actually should not of been charged for the first day because I didn't get what I paid for, sleep. The staff was always to busy on the computer to acknowledge guest unless you engaged them.
Clean rooms, nice decor
Not best value for the money. Breakfast expensive
The room was large by European standards. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Great location. Would definitely stay here again.
the location was second to none, city centre. very accomodating and friendly staff, a true credit to the warm and inviting icelandic style
The hotel has a brilliant central location right next to the parliament (which is actually so small that we almost missed it) and all the major nightlife and shopping areas. Also very close to the harbour. The rooms were lovely, warm and cosy - beds very comfy! We had a great stay at this hotel, and the reception staff were friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was too expensive for what it was. One thing that we felt the hotel could improve on would be a spa area - perhaps a project for next time?
Very nice hotel. Good location, nice rooms, very comfortable beds and pillows. Municipal parking is very close to the hotel.
The restaurant is very expensive.
Very nice staff. Good location if you want to be in the City Centre.
Not a good location for anyone who wants to get sleep on Friday or Saturday night in the summer, due to young people who party all night in the streets outside. Very noisy until about 5:30 a.m. But a good place for young people who want to be at the center of the action.
proximity to downtown and shopping; friendly staff; comfortable lobby; luggage storage room.
It was unfortunate to not be able to get into our room earlier since it was requested at the time of the reservation and our flight arrived from the US at 6:30 am. Also, our room was lovely and spacious, but way too warm and we were unable to be comfortable without the windows open, and the noise from the bars on the street was so loud, we had difficulty sleeping. I'd suggest air conditioning or blankets that aren't so hot so that we could sleep!
There should be more sitting area(s)
Staffs are very attentive to customers.
refrigerator door key should stay unlocked once unlocked until locking again
The building was beautiful, and the rooms were very nice.
Our television did not work most of the time. The hotel advertised a flat screen television. In as much as we certainly did not go to Iceland to watch tv, the television was also set up for viewing the bill on line, setting up a wakeup call, etc. It was also a problem because it was so noisy outside that we did not sleep. We usually would have just turned the television on to offset the street noice, but we did not have the option. This was a lot of money to pay without getting a good night's rest. It is actually the principle of paying so much for less than advertised than the actual television itself.
Very nice room and location was good
Firstly, the location of the hotel was ideal for exploring Reykjavik city. The hotel staff were friendly, helpful and geniune. With their assistance on booking day trips and general information we were assured a great time. Also, the 3rd floor corner room we had was excellent, beds were comfortable and the hot shower facilities was perfect after a long day outside in the cold. Thanks Hotel Borg - we will definitely return.
The one aspect that was not ideal was the food provided to the hotel by the restaurant next door for room service and breakfast/evening dining. On Xmas Day we booked a rather expensive dinner service expecting a substantial meal but had a less than overwhelming buffet service instead - with little choice and not particularly good quality nor taste. The hotel needs to insist on improving the quality of its food provided - especially when the Hotel Reykjavik restaurant and Uppsala Cafe across the square provides a better and tastier selection at better prices.
