The breakfast was amazing. The best we had in Iceland! The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly and the rooms exquisitely clean!
It got a bit hot in the room at night, but it was a minor issue.
The location was very nice and central.
The hotel staff were rude and not helpful. One night there was so much noise from people talking and partying until 3:00 am. Could not sleep. The buses no linger pick you up at the hotel. It the walk to the bus stop is less than five minutes. It was still inconvenient with all our luggage. We did not know that when booking.
Great value and prime location
Excellent location within walking distance to busy city center Great value for the money Friendly staff Prompt service from staff & housekeeping Nice little restaurant in the lobby
For some reason the TV was messed up most of the time (would get frozen on certain channels and would have to get up and turn it off). However, was not in the room much, so this was not a big issue.
Excellent hotel in a great location.
The hotel is centrally located in Reykjavik and next door to some excellent restaurants. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable of the area.
Location was good.
Parking was listed but it was public parking. We had to drive around and parked a few blocks away.
Great Hotel in the middle of the city!
Location! You can not beat the location of the Centrum. Also the front desk staff is awesome. They can book all of your excursions for you and if you would like dinner reservations, they can suggest where and then make the reservations for you. The hotel bar happy hour was excellent if you like beer and craft cocktails.
The room size was a little small and there was no place for a second piece of large luggage. Also, even with the radiator in the off position, the room was extremely hot. We were forced to sleep with the windows open. The amount of noise coming from the street from cars and people at all hours of the night caused us not to get a good nights sleep in the 8 days that we were there. I wish I would have brought ear plugs.
Outstanding staff. Very clean. Very central. Convenient bar and restaurant.
Close to old parts of town. In fact, hotel is built over museum for first settlement.
It was clean, desk staff were pleasant
The hotel had messed up the reservations. My reservation through Kayak was fine. However, a hotel block that was to be released 45 days before my arrival was still on the books (I was joining a hiking group) and they tried to get me to pay for that supposed reservation. In talking with the agency that had arranged the room block for this particular hiking group, this is not the first time that this hotel has done this. In addition, a friend of mine who had confirmed her reservation at Hotel Centrum before leaving the US, received an e-mail that they were overbooked and she had to go to another hotel---even though Hotel Centrum had double bookings and indeed did have rooms.
Location in town.
Ridiculous price for room that had no amenities. Paid five star price for two star motel. Room small, bed uncomfortable. Everything extra.
It was homely, comfortable room, nice surroundings, fantastic location, love the building on the corner of the centre of Reykjavik, close to the harbour and lots of great restaurants & cafes & museums. Steff were friendly, breakfast was nice.
Breakfast was pricey especially when you could get a huge cooked breakfast and warm coffee down the road for less. tea and coffee facilitirs in the room were poor, there were 2 of us and they didn't have pairs of the same kind of tea bag, no milk, small cups, little sugar, we bought ours from the supermarket. Internet which we paid for kept stopping working but when we called it was fixed and when we mentioned it again at checkout it was deducted from our bill, so was ok in the end.
cafe and breakfast
Having travelled extensively around the world, it was a pleasure to be greeted by service minded, smiling, friendly staff. The hotel was relaxing and stressless.
Maybe, a little more attention should be made to controlling the facilities inside the room. Ensure things are regularly maintained in the bathrooms with drips, leaks, and edges correctly sealed with silicon. Minor issue, but essential to retain the hotel profile
The Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful in giving suggestions about places to visit, providing maps of the city, and arranging the shuttle to the airport. The Location is perfect, right in the centre of the city and close to shops, restaurants, the city lake, and sites. I think it's so unique that the hotel is above a Viking settlement (museum). I Loved this hotel!
Although the breakfast is great, I do think it's a bit pricey per person (14 euros or $18 canadian).
Staff are very helpfull , location of the hotel - it is very central.
They have problems with American Express payments but not taking care of it
service, warm hearted staff
Proximity to the town center, cleanliness of the room
The cost of our New Year's Day meal ($160 per person was too high) and the meal was mediocre (at best)
Freindly and helpful hotel staff
The Hotel Reykjavik Centrum is located right in the heart of Iceland’s capital city; this means travelers can enjoy one of Reykjavik’s oldest streets and spend their nights in a building that dates back to 1764. This hotel has lots of history but also lots of modern flair, and since it is in the city center, it is easy to get from the hotel to the numerous museums and restaurants that all crowd this particular area. There are lots of things to do in the hotel as well; the meeting center is a great place to host a business event or to attend a seminar. The Uppsalir Bar and Café is an ideal place to get lots of great food and drinks including some Icelandic favorites.
The rooms at the Hotel Reykjavik Centrum are divided into singles, doubles, twins, and apartments; the differences being the size of the beds along with the extra space in the apartment. Within the apartment, there is a separate living area that has a kitchen along with a sofa that can be turned into a bed. All of the rooms have nice desks along with ergonomic Nordic furniture that is a design staple of Iceland. There is free wi-fi at the hotel, and the flat panel televisions have hundreds of channels for you to enjoy.
There is a lot of fun to be had at the Hotel Reykjavik Centrum; this hotel is located right in the city center and it allows guests to enjoy the best of Iceland while having some great accommodations within a historic hotel on a historic street.
