Interesting place to stay
I did like the Mission hotel. It was in a better part of town than what I had heard from other people. It was also nice that there was a bus stop very close by. The staff were exceptionally friendly, and more than willing to give directions on how to find what I was looking for. They also had a small continental breakfast, it was coffee, toast, pastries, and coffee. The price was very reasonable as well
The area in which it is located, is quite a ways outside of "downtown" San Francisco. It was about a 45 minute trip to get to "downtown." There wasn't a lot of places around it, there were quite a few churches, and a small Market, and a McDonalds about 4 blocks away. The hotel did not have Air Conditioning, normally not an issue, but San Francisco was having a rare heat wave.
Toast is not Continental breakfast
Room was clean, staff nice.
Had room next to elevator, heard door slamming often during the night. Continental breakfast consisted of toast, packaged sweet rolls, coffee and tea in a very small room off of the office. More than three people and you had no room to move around. Had to take our stuff back to our room. Disappointing. I've had better at Motel 6.
The price is the only thing good about the hotel, in San Fran it's hard to find a inexpensive room.
Walls are paper thin; not filthy, but not clean either; parking is scarce;
My room had separate areas. One with the bed, one with a mirror and desk (great for writing postcards), and a bathroom. The TV was full cable, with some 70 channels, so there was plenty to choose from. The free ice machine provided me with an ample supply to cool my drinks. This hotel is not about luxury, but is definitely value for money. I have stayed there many times before, and although its location is somewhat away from the city center, the price difference with other hotels is such that - even with San Francisco's high parking rates - it is always less expensive than staying somewhere closer to the city. And it offers free parking!
There was a heat wave going on when I arrived, and this hotel does not have air conditioning. That was a bit of a drawback, but San Francisco nights are cool, and there was a fan in the room, so I just opened the door and let it blow cold air into the room. It cooled off nicely in 30 minutes. This hotel is not about luxury, but value for money.
