10.0 Excellent
Pros: The dinner was superb and the breakfast too!! Never expected to find such good chef and food in a resort in the midst of the mountains. Definitely worth the price paid for!!
Cons: Everything was great!!
7.5 Good
Pros: The service staff is awesome. The room is big and comfortable. The amenities in the room is good. The onsen experience at Sukayu was wonderful. The water is excellent, and the changing rooms are well thought-out for the women's section so it doesn't feel awkward as you get to the mixed bath. We went twice in a day, and were fortunate to have a traditional song performance right at the mixed bath. Wonderful experience.
Cons: The dinner was mediocre. Breakfast is close to awful - we had the american as well as the traditional selection. The meals is big part of Japanese hospitality and the expectation, and it was disappointing. We've stayed at different hotels and ryokans and have had better food and experience. The wing at A block where we stayed was far from reception. We went on to stay at other onsen places after this, and it was much more memorable than the stay here, in terms of food, scenery, and onsen experience. Not worth the price paid.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything is good about this hotel. The room is spacious with a nice view. The meals are excellent with lots of options and the hot springs are great too. Also, there’s shuttle service to the aquarium and discounted tickets are available at the front desk.
Cons: If I have to say one thing, that might be the Wi-Fi connection which is not very stable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's about 16km drive (~25m) from New Aomori train station and it's absolutely worth the drive. Hotel staff received us with very warm greeting despite it was -5'c below. Room was spacious tatami style and absolutely loved the hot bath hall. The bath hall was very simple in design but quite spacious as well and offered 2 indoor pools and 1 outdoor. there was also a bath fountain in the middle of the hall where you can enjoy a nice final pour of hot spring before walking out to the drying area - this is not a typical design seen in hot spring baths but very useful indeed. All hotel staff that we met were very courteous and helpful, even if some only knew a little bit of English but you can definitely enjoy Japanese hospitality here in Aomori. Housekeeping was also very attentive to details and offered us complimentary dessert and additional bathroom supplies for waiving housekeeping service during our 3 night stays. Breakfast was excellent and offered many local ingredient including the famous scallop. If you're ever in the Aomori area this is the hotel to be. Don't miss it!
Cons: only very, very minor thing that we have a problem with is the consistency of the wifi service which was unstable. also, for environmental reasons, it would be eco-friendly to use normal chopsticks instead of the disposable bamboo chopsticks. just a small suggestion....
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Big room. Great breakfast.
Cons: Very expensive. Far away from city.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Bed was good
7.0 Good
Pros: Near train station
Cons: Meal and bed was too expensive for a child. Convenience store (Lawson) is too far away, about 200m away from the hotel and it’s a bit too dark at night to travel there.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff were attentive to every detail and were understanding of my poor Japanese. The bath has a nice outdoors which is tastefully decorated. The bath inside the room also uses Onsen hot water. Tatami is not scuffed and room is well maintained. Vending machine (tea, beer, etc) on 1F. 9F you can enjoy milk vendo after Onsen. 2 min walk from 浅虫温泉駅
Cons: Its a shame the 1F bar is now a Salon/カラオケ, but you can order beer to your room anyway.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything!
Cons: Everything was Amazing! Only recommendation is to add a steam room or sauna :)

Pros: Excellent attention from the staff. They were very accommodating.
Cons: Upon entering our room smelled a little bit of tobacco and we had to keep the windows open to air it out.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were wonderful and made us feel at home immediately. Especially the two ladies who served us breakfast! Thank you so much for the special breakfast we had on our second morning. The onsen itself was great. We went in the morning and evening to try and make the most of it. We would highly recommend staying here. We hope to visit again in the future.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was so filling and absolutely delicious with a local flavor. The staff were amazingly friendly, especially the kitchen staff who explained the food and talked about local attractions. The onsen was very nice and great to relax in after a long day. It is a bit of a ride from Aomori city proper on a train, but there are also hikes and other things to do in the area!
7.1 Good
Pros: Staff doesn’t speak English but they help themselves with translator so it’s okay. There is private onsen if you have tattoo. Good for sauna (but that’s only in the public bath so no for tattooed people!)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We loved the Japanese tatami room and futon. They are unbelievably comfy. Free green tea and snack from local ingredient every day. The staff brings Yukata to change daily. Onsen are nice and relaxing.the source of water is one of the drinkable hot springs in Japan. Japanese breakfast that change every day the menu., Free transfer to train station. Super staff, they are not speaking fluently English but the service was top notch. Order food from restaurant near by to the room is also available at the reception.
Cons: None
9.6 Excellent
Pros: First Ryokan that has Yukatas in Westerner-size Nice bath, large breakfast Incredibly large rooms
Cons: Bathroom could be 10cm longer. Your knees literally hit the wall when you are on the toilet Still no sandals above size 41 (EU)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: 1. The dinner is excellent, must try. The lady at dining room is very friendly and helpful. 2. Free shuttle transfer from Asamushi train station to hotel, book ahead. 3. The room and public bath are clean and comfort. 4. The front staff are helpful.
Cons: The breakfast time is a bit finish too early.

Lamp No Yado Aoni Onsen - Aomori - Building
6
8.3 Excellent (605 reviews)
S$ 148+
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The food, the scenery, authenticity.
Cons: Everything was perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great atmosphere, great location. The outdoor bath was amazing. It felt like stepping back in time, great to switch off from technology. Stepping into the hot water, while being surrounded by trees weighed down with snow was amazing.
Cons: The lamps create a great atmosphere, but it would have been nice to have enough light to read by.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location. Pick up by bus from the dam to ryokan Help from front desk personnel to arrange a car for sight seeing by the hour
Cons: New generation provided only minimum supplies in the bath area No soap, shampoo, etc. So no way to get clean before entering the mineral bath. Bedding not made up by staff; instructed to make up yourself. Too many bugs in the room. Quality of food deteriorated since our last visit.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The lodge is very natural japanese style with delicious food. Onsen is so wonderful ; close to waterfall and stream .
Cons: Lamp is a bit bad smell for us
7.0 Good
Pros: Amazing location!! The environment and general atmosphere with the oil lamps were magic. Also, the four onsen were among the best ones we could experiment during our stay in Japan. The staff is doing a great job of taking care of beautiful garden and surrounding.
Cons: The price was still quite high. Dinner was average ok. Dinner room was quite crowded (not so comfortable). The old building has a great charme, but consider you may hear a bit of noise from people upstairs and in the corridor. Small last detail: you have to prepare your futon. This was really no big deal, but as this was the first time we had to do it, and in view of room price, we were a bit surprised. Overall, as the location and onsen are REALLY beautiful, those details did not bother us, but the ratio price/service could be better.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Secluded location, multiple baths with nice views, excellent food.
Cons: Little bit hard to get to without a car
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The property is very remote but we had rented a car so it was fine. Way up a winding mountain road it truly is in the middle of nowhere. We could hear the running water from the river that runs in between the main building and our room which was lovely and relaxing. We used the waterfall Onsen which was amazing. At night you could hear the waterfall and see thousands of stars while soaking in the outdoor bath which was such a special experience. During the day you had a fantastic view of the waterfall from the bath. The main bath was also nice but we didn’t use any of the other baths. The food was excellent. Both me and my husband are vegetarians so I let the staff know when I booked and they replied promptly and our food was always completely vegetarian. We were the only Westerners there so eating in the communal dining room surrounded by the Japanese guests was a great experience. It was fantastic being ‘unplugged’ from all technology! I would recommend renting a car and exploring the area while you’re there as there are some great places to visit!
Cons: The lamps were great but as others have mentioned they really stink! We are now home and our stay was almost 2 weeks ago and our clothes still smell like the lamps. Even stuff we didn’t wear while staying there!

8.0 Excellent
Pros: we had a little birthday session at the hotel dining area, the staff was very helpful to provide dishes, forks, lighter etc. and they even do the dishes afterward. very appreciated.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is extremely close to the train station; but it's not immediately clear from Google Maps walking directions, which had us walking at night through a snowstorm in a loop around the facility. In the morning we felt dumb, walking to the train station in the advertised one minute. The ability to request a private bath reservation is very nice and they are very accommodating. This is a service that I have never experienced short of a (very expensive) in-room onsen. I had trouble sleeping the first night and didn't get out of bed until after breakfast was served. I also had paid for lunch but did not partake; the staff noticed and removed it from the bill without us asking: absolutely exceptional service. The shuttle to and from the airport was on time and quite a drive (45 minutes) and offered as part of the reservation. The room was relatively large. There are Western-style beds in the room that were quite comfortable.
Cons: There is no dinner served. I should have read the listing more thoroughly, but it was not immediately apparent and should be made obvious, as every other ryokan I have stayed at has served dinner. The facilities certainly exist for serving dinner, with the table in-room and a large banquet hall that seems to go unused. Other ryokans in the area do seem to serve dinner, and there are not many reputable restaurants nearby. This can be mitigated by making a reservation in one of the many excellent restaurants in Aomori City, just 20 minutes away by train. Might I add that the trains run every 20 minutes until quite late (past 11PM). My partner and I indeed had an incredible cultural experience our first night here, but it could have been a disaster. It's thanks to my partner calling and finding out they had no dinner at the ryokan that we were not forced to make last-minute plans for dinner. The heater/AC unit made a loud continuous clicking noise at odd hours of the night, which woke me up several times (I am a light sleeper, it did not bother my partner). It is advertised as "Ocean View" but the view of Mutsu Wan is 99.5% obscured by trees (at least on the second floor).
7.9 Good
Pros: Breakfast was good but would like to have seen something different in the on the 3rd day. View from room was amazing.
Cons: Shared bath on 3rd floor did not have facility to wash before entering the bath.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Have a private onsen, Clean, good taste of Japanese food and Staff taking very warm take care of us
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was super tasty, room was spacious and comfortable.
Cons: Location.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked the staff, they were really friendly. The atmosphere was really nice too, very relaxing. The room was better than I expected, it was wonderful! Great sea view.
Cons: The morning eggs were a little cold, but I arrived exactly at morning set up. Could have been my timing. It was nice that the Onsen had a private time slot.. but it wasn’t anything special beside private. Just a basic bath. (However, I did not go to the public bath)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The service was impressive, the dinner was beyond the expectation.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This Ryokan was very close to the train station....like less than 100 meters walk. The staff were very friendly. The rooms were large and well appointed. The inn was very clean and the onsen bath was nice after a day of travel. The breakfast was also very good.
Cons: The onsen baths were closed after 8:30 AM until 1:00 pm for cleaning, so we could not take a bath on our departure day. This was surprising and unfortunate.

Cons: The heating was a little too warm for us and couldn’t find adjustment, however opening window a bit helped.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: GREAT experience. Good spa good meal
Cons: NO, nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff were super helpful generally, including about hiking and other outdoor options in the area. The hotel accommodated two vegetarians for meals that were included (breakfast and dinner) and the food was very good. We are very grateful to the chefs! The public baths were outstanding. Overall we had an excellent experience.
Cons: The hotel is an alpine ski/adventure hotel and the decor (carpets) etc. are a little tired; the common areas could use a refresh. The rooms were nice.
7.1 Good
Pros: Excellent public bath. Helpful staff. Very good location for hikers
Cons: Food is rather poor, below Japanese osen standards that I visited before ( 6-8). Rooms are very small for rural Japan. The carpet in the hall needed cleaning. It's at best a 3 star Inn.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really Delicious Dinner. Clean Room. Comfy Bed. Nice View from room window. Excellent Staff
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff is very helpful and speaks good English. The dinner was very good. The location is great for hiking in the mountains as well.

Cons: My stay was short and can't complain about anything.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: the staff were so nice. you can put your lugage in front office while you leaving before check in or after check out. the room was so clean.
Cons: the pillow so thin even too thin, I’d got headhache in the morning.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Quite good standards for the price. Room with some views and correct design. Though some 10 mins walk-away from the train station, it is doable with a suitcase. Staff members are nice and respectful, as usually in Japan; plus they agreed to not photocopying my passport, which I appreciate. 20 metres away there's a lovely café (called Marron) where you can have a good breakfast at a very affordable price. I'd stay here back again.
Cons: Disgusting tobacco smell in the elevators. As usually in Japan, they're totally strict about check-in/out time! They denied my request for an early check-in. (They always do so in this country, even if the room wasn't occupied the day before and therefore didn't need to be tidied up.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is in a fairly convenient location: next to one of the shopping streets with restaurants, etc. close to ASPAM (one of the tourist spots), and about a 5 minute walk to Aomori Station. The hotel room was as advertised. The room also came with a power extension cord, ethernet cable, and device charging cable. It's kind of weird for a review to mention cables, but I thought these were very nice to have because they are usually BYO.
Cons: Maybe a few more clothes hangers in the closet would be nice.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great comfortable bed, good view and fantastic breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: They're thoughtful enough to provide free brushes and towels on the front door. Of all the hotel I visited this year the amenities there is exceptional. All the basic like toothbrush, shampoo and soap was there but also face mask, 3 more kind of face wash and lotions, shaving cream and a few stuffs I don't know how to use. Also it's very close to a car rent. Like you can see the sign from your room close.
Cons: A bit far from the closest train station especially in a snow strom.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: This is my first time staying at the hotel and definitely not my last! Everything was great. The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. They tried their best to help us with directions and recommendations to the nearest prefectures. The hotel is also very near to Aomori Station (5 minutes away on foot) where you can take the local train (covered by JR Pass) to Shin-Aomori Station for Shinkansen rides. The hotel is also near Lawson (convenience store) and ASPAM (tourists can buy souvenirs here) as well as A-Factory (also can buy apple-based souvenirs of which Aomori is famous for!). Shin-Aomori Station is about 10 minutes away by car from the hotel. What surpassed our expectation was the bathroom amenities provided by the hotel. Super generous!
Cons: If you stay during Winter, the room could be very cold but not to worry as they provide fleece to keep you warm.

Pros: Comfortable hotel in a good location - 5 minute walk to JR Aomori station and along the main shopping street. 5 minutes from the Furukawa market - great place for sushi. Pleasantly surprised this trip to find a Malaysian (Chua) working in the hotel who spoke excellent English and was most helpful. Room was large for a Japanese hotel. Fit 3 adults comfortably.

Pros: Everything. It was clean and well equipped with every amenity and need thought of. The room was large by Japanese standards. It’s a 5-minute walk from Aomori Station in which all the city highlights are centred around. The bed was super comfortable! We would definitely stay here again!
Cons: Nothing!

Pros: Booked for the location and the price and it did not disappoint. Directly across the road from Aomori Station's main exit. Close to main shopping areas, to Cultural Centre, to A-Factory (upper-class market for local produce). Quality of hotel on par with well-known large hotel chains in bigger cities. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is the best thing because it's really near the JR station and bus stop only you've just across the road. Actually around this hotel there are a lot of famous restaurant and A-factory. Staff is not influent in English but they'll help you with their kindness.
Cons: The room is a little bit old and The area for breakfast on someday is not enough.

Pros: Goid location. Close to station.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is across the road from the train station and information centre. While it’s a bit dated, the rooms are a good size (for Japan), the breakfast is decent, and even though I booked a smoking room (non smoking was unavailable) the room didn’t smell.
Cons: The breakfast spread was a little limited, would have liked more variety in salad options (salad is part of a Japanese breakfast) and the coffee was average (which isn’t unusual in Japan even in more expensive hotels).
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Convenient location - close to train station, shopping, restaurants and pubs.
Cons: Step up/down to bathroom. Instructions ( in English) on how to operate heater would be helpful.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was perfect, literally right across from the train station. Staff was very accommodating and helpful.
Cons: Room was small.. but on average for an economy japan hotel.
