Upgrades aren't free/ beware of fees
Pros: The car was nice and clean, and the desk was right next to baggage claim.
Cons: They led me to believe I was getting a free upgrade, increased my price by $300, and tacked on an extra $120 when I returned the vehicle "because of airport fees".

Pros: Size was good. Pick up and drop off went well. Vehicle was clean. Receptionist at pick up was helpful.
Cons: The vehicle smelled very very strong smoke smell that didn't diminish at all! There was a large scratch on the vehicle we weren't made aware of that we noticed right away and took pictures of so we weren't charged for the damage.

Cons: I don't smoke and the car smelled like smoke. The roof was filthy and the car overall wasn't clean.
Pros: Pick up and drop off was quick and easy. The location is near my house which is convenient as well. I had a ford focus hatch back which worked fine for my travel plans. The service was friendly.
Cons: I don't know if it was the type of car or this car needed to be serviced, but the AC did not work well and in Florida a good AC is a must.

Pros: Chris at the Jacksonville airport .... very friendly and professional. Chris made the return at the airport a breeze (and when you're traveling, that matters).
Cons: The pick up location was disgusting. I felt I could not even sit down or set my things down because it was so dirty. There was confusion to begin with and Kiara and Charles assured me they would get the location return changed to the airport and they never did. Even called their office the day before to be certain. Poor professional service and frankly, this experience was enough to say, I will not use Hertz in my future travels.

Cons: The car was not in the spot where the rep told me it was. I had to walk back into the airport in order to get another car which made me late for my appointment. I was also overcharged!!!! They also did not inform you that they put a hold on your card prior to you renting.

RENTAL CAR EXPERIENCE
Pros: We wanted to switch cars, from an SUV to a sedan because of security concerns-an open trunk with no cover exposing our luggage to possible theft.The Hertz people facilitated the change giving us a Mustang convertable.
Cons: The price was way too high-over $700 for a 10 day rental.We picked the car up in Jacksonville and dropped it off in Marble Falls, Texas.Drop off fee was excessive.

Cons: As usual, the gas game one plays with these companies. Having to find an open station at 4 a.m. on a Sunday can be a challenge and the alternative of paying for a full tank of gas regardless of how much gas one returns the car with makes that necessary.

Pros: Quick and easy return.
Cons: Trying to extend the rental period using the call center was painful. The heavy foreign accent was difficult to understand in addition to the poor phone connection. I asked to receive an email to confirm the extension. Never got one.
The price jumped from $267 to over $1000 when I dropped car off. I had to go to terminal counter to correct the error. Not difficult, but inconvenient.

Worst customer service ever
Cons: The 2 ladies behind the counter were absolutely useless. In addition to being charged too much, I was also told even though I had a reservation, they didn't have any cars at the time and didn't know when any would be ready. There was a wait list for cars like you would find at a restaurant. So I asked could she tell me how long it takes to turnaround( clean and get ready) a car once it came in, her reply was " that ain't in my job description, and proceeded to continue her conversation with the other worker behind the counter. I hope that these are 2 isolated poor employees and not the norm for Hertz.
Pros: nothing ! you book an intermediate and get a mini ! they would tell you the extra insurance you bought is worthless and you need their extra insurance.

Pros: Low price, easy drop off
Cons: Given car with low tire pressure light on and obvious transmission issues, car would stutter everytime when accelerating from a stopped position. Pick up was a hassle with constant up selling and having to do and answer items that I had already answered while making my online reservation.

Pros: I received extremely friendly service from Erick. He treated me with great respect & helpfulness. Josh (a Budget employee who cleans & preps cars) was also very helpful in helping me when I returned my car.
Cons: It was mid-evening, probably around 8:00 pm or so when I returned my car. There was no employees in the return area to scan my paperwork & check me in. I thought this was odd. If Josh had not been there working, I don't know what I would have done. He wrote down the mileage & verified the fuel tank was full & wrote this down on a sheet of paper & instructed me to take it inside to the rental counter & tell them Josh helped verify everything. Why weren't any return staff on duty at 8:00 pm?

Pros: Pickup and dropoff were quick and easy. Mazda 3 was excellent. Picking up in JAX and dropping in FLL was without any issues. Friendly personnel. Cost was exactly what I expected.
Cons: Found 2 empty water bottles from previous rental. Even tho there were "no smoking" stickers there was a faint smell of smoke from some bimbo who broke the rules.
Pros: It was easy to find and get to, fast to get the car, and easy to leave thr airport.

Pros: Not Atlanta, the rental location at Jacksonville Fl airport was a BAD experience
Cons: At Jax airport rental counter, shared with Budget rac. No one at the rental counter. The Budget agents (3-4) said the Payless agent would be right back. I waited for 30 minutes. During this time, the Budget agents were chatting with each other and were very abrupt when I questioned the whereabouts ot the Payless agent. Finally, one of the Budget agents walked the 5feet to the Payless side and started my contract. I asked why they didn't wait on me before then. Got a blank stare in reply. Told Noel the agt. that I intended to file a complaint. She replied that. they required a paystub and utility bill in order to rent a Payless car locally but she would waive this because I didn't know of this and now aren't you happy.
I told her no I was not happy, and this was a one way rental not a local rental. Overall I was treated horribly.

Cons: Cannot use company card to pay for rental and no information was given as to how big of a deposit they needed up front. Created a huge hassle at time of pick-up and ended up not even using the rental car due to difficulties in working out a payment solution.

Cons: They did not have the vehicle I requested nor did they have anything similar and when I asked about it this was the reply "why do you think we are called Payless". They vehicle we did get was dirty and had stains all over the seats and when I tried to have the vehicle replaced they told me that was the only car they had available but still charged me the same rate. Never again... Jacksonville Florida
Pros: We arrived and had no idea where or how to shuttle over as it was no where in the airport or on our paperwork. Called and waited for a half and hour for a shuttle. Arrived at Ace and was waited on by a David at the counter. Took us outside and showed us the car. It was a upgrade of what we had rented online. Asked him about it and he said well this is what I am going to put u in ..Don't worry about it. It was a black car. Car was flithy.Asked us to the car for damage in the dark. We found a few dings and he said come on it's a 2017 and anything less then a quarter don't matter. Went inside and he had both my husband and I sign papers to decline insurance as we purchased our own.Stapled a card and paperwork together and we left as we already had been traveling since 5 am and had two more hours to drive to our destination we were tired and disgusted but had to go. Days later I looked at my credit card bill online. He had changed me a upgrade x eights days. And also we were charged for the shuttle ride. I opened the stapled paperwork and sure enough he did. When we brought the car back it was someone different at the counter. I told her I never asked for a upgrade. Why am I being charged for one? She told me basically ..To bad u agreed to it right here. What this David did was lied to us and had us put our initial on something we thought was for declining insurance. Bottom line is ..He was to lazy to go out in the lot to get what we rented and gave us a car that someone just brought back. Previous people left paperwork in the glove box...I will never rent a car from Ace ever again.

Cons: It was a bit inconvenient waiting for pick up. We had a miscommunication and I had to call Ace three or four times before they picked me up, so I wasted half an hour at Jax Airport.

Cons: The only issue with the rental was that it wasn't obvious that you had to go inside the airport to the rental counter to pickup the contract and keys there. Being a Hertz Gold user, I'm used to making business reservations online and just picking up the car and going. Not a big deal, but would have a saved a trip to the rental car garage.

Cons: On the Alamo pickup they say I had not an insurance for third patry liability, and that the insurance that I had buought with kayak only covered my own car, in summary I felt tricked having to pay 2 insurances that make the car rental higher than the one of the competition, if I had knew this previously would not have rented with kayac or with Alamo. Make things easier and clear for costumers please.

Pros: Believe it or not, I'm over 40, and I still give in to my mom on trips and rent SUV's. She's a big saftey nut after a semi couldn't stop and nailed the back of her Tahoe. Anyway, I managed to get a large, moderately appointed Ford, for about the price of an economy car.
Cons: Rented for a trip to Miami, but we had a hurricane so I couldn't go. So I was up charged for not driving to Miami, and charged for another day for not returning the car during the hurricane. Not really the car rentals co.'s fault I suppose. I guess the insurance sales pitch is standard, and even though I explained my Travel credit card covered the difference in insurance, they insisted I buy more. Also, tried to upsell me to a more expensive ride, once again standard MO at this price point...

Pros: The Alamo car was good and very clean. Of course we were encouraged to upgrade the car upon checking-in, which we did.... The service was very friendly.
Cons: The fact that Alamo was not aware that we took out an insurance via the Kayak booking. So we insured the car again, at Alamo. I realize this is our responsibility - yet you would expect them to have a note not to offer us insurance. Alamo was so courteous to credit the insurance after we discovered that - something they did not really have to do.

Gave me a rental car with zero gas @ an airport 30
Pros: The car was nice
Cons: The airport representative was rude and ended up giving me a car on empty when the airport was 30 miles away from any gas station the night before a major hurricane was supposed to hit. I had to go to 7 different gas stations once I reached my destination on fumes! I couldn't find any gas stations at night so went to bed not knowing if I was going to be able to get gas the next day or break down trying. The next morning I woke up at 6am and luckily was able to get gas but WTF. Diane/ Dianna at the JAX Airport is a real piece of work and didn't even tell me the car had no gas in it. And at first she tried to put me in a minivan even though I reserved a small SUV. VERY UPSET.

Pros: Went to the counter to pick up the car and they did not have available cars. Many people were waiting for their cars as well. I was told the wait would be an hour or so. Because I had an appointment, I could not wait so I did not get the car.
Pros: The flexibility of service relating to the change of car and ability drop off at another location without additional cost.
Cons: the availability of the pickup was not good as my car was not ready at bookable time.

Pros: I liked the professionalism in behavior, appearance, and attitude of the staff member with whom I dealt--Val. When my economy size car was not available, she offered an upgrade--which I did NOT take because it was much larger than I needed and larger than I could responsibly drive. She promised to have a car for me by day's end, and did. Tank was half full--suggesting it had just been returned, but car drove fine and all went well. Pick up and drop off service is a plus. Don't get rid of it. I think Val is the type of person who should own her own business because she sets a good example of how to deal with the public. She was a quick thinker and reliable do-er; very impressive
Cons: When I returned the car, I had two more days in town and inquired the price for renewing for two more days. It was about 20.00 per day higher than the original rate. A staff member (not the agent who was helping me) suggested that I would not find a lower rate. I found several much lower rates--some half the renewal quote. I think that when customers are returning a vehicle in a timely way and need to renew, they should be given some type of price consideration. After all, a customer in hand is worth--something!

office closed when i got there....
Cons: spent 30 minutes trying to let them know i was going to be late because of our flight. could not get thru the phone system even tho i was told i was being sent to an attendant several time. after 35 min i hung up and grabbed an Uber. by the time we go there we had missed them. i then called again and finally got thru to a human who could do nothing for me except to ask me to call back in 2 days for the car i needed. I'll never rent from Enterprise again.

Cons: I had booked this reservation over a month in advance. When I arrived, on time, at the Thrifty counter in Jacksonville, FL I was told that they did not have any cars to rent to me. Thrifty confirmed that they had received my reservation however they still did not have any cars. Thrifty did offer their verbal apologies. Thrifty did not help me secure a reservation with another car rental company. Thrifty did not offer to reimburse me for the difference between what I paid at Avis ($124) and the amount per my Thrifty reservation ($50). This was my first (and likely my last) experience with Thrifty.

Pros: Nothing. The customer service and reservation handling is horrible.
Cons: I booked a rental car months ago, and when I arrived at the airport I was told that there were no cars left and I would have to call back the next day to make a new reservation.
I had to take a 30 dollar cab home at 11:30 at night and then had to try and rent another car at the airport the next day which ended up costing me 40 dollars more than my previous rental. Customer service at the counter was no help and told me that was how it was and there was nothing they could do about it. Completely unacceptable. I will never rent from Hertz or Thrifty again and will make sure that no one I know does either.
Cons: Service was sub par, the car received was dirty with mechanical problems. This will be the last time I rent a car from Advantage.

Beer cans in trunk
Pros: I picked up my car from advantage with no issues. That night me and my wife decided to go out to dinner and have a few drinks, when we got home and decided to load our suitcases into the trunk of the car, there were 5 OPEN beer cans in open view. That night I called advantage, only to speak to an answering service, no representatives past 5pm. Then that same day on the instrument panel the "Add air pressure" lights up, so I add air to the tire that it said "Right front". The very next day, "Add air pressure" lights up again, this time on the "Right rear", I add air again. The very next day after all that, the "Channel engine oil soon" lights up.in a nut shell, Advantage does not CLEAN OR SERVICE their vehicles at all. DO NOT RENT

Pros: The cost was considerably lower than other companies...but the hassle isn't worth it.
Cons: Needed a minivan for our family of 6. I reserved well in advance. They simply said "sorry...we have no minivans". When I ask how and why...I was told, "we oversold...and have none available." When I asked how could they rectify this situation...there was no response other then they could put me in a different vehicle...smaller and barely accomodating our kids and bags. We drove in a cramped SUV with a child virtually drowning in luggage in the back seat. Never again will I use this company. Simply mediocre.

Pros: The "come-on" price looked good. Real Price at check out? - not so much.
Cons: I'm not sure why I was shown a $237 price at first, then surprised when it was over $281 at check out. The only place I can see for the overage is in the offer to "fill the tank by the company". Their representative said, "We're a lot less than at the pump." That should have warned me. I last filled my Taurus in Oregon (a high gas price state), for $26.60. The added surprise cost from Advantage? - over $44. Last time I rented from Enterprise, their final price was understandable, reasonable, and I topped off the tank before returning the car for a LOT less than $44. I'll go back to them next time, and avoid Advantage. Also, the car had a huge scuff on the front left bumper and quarter panel. The rep acted surprised to see it, but I was in a hurry to get my elderly Mom at the airport, so I accepted it. Otherwise, the car was fine. The rental place was understaffed and folks waiting with me had complaints about their waits. A fellow waiting with me told me his first rental set off a tire warning light as he left to start his trip. He took it back, finding a nail it, and he told me the attendant said; "It'll be OK." After insisting, he was given a repaired tire. Sure, these are hear-say, but all in my one visit to Advantage? C'mon.

Pros: They have the rental cars.
Cons: Hard to find where they are. There was no sign as EZ car rental. That is Wally Park or something like that. My google map and tomtom navigation couldn't find the address what posted in Kayak.com.

Pros: Pickup was great and the car was clean. When I went to return the car there was no where to park and only one person operating the front desk. The agent was tied up trying to resolve a pricing issue with another customer. Even though he was very busy, he was courteous to everyone in the office waiting to rent and return cars.

Vehicle smelled like Vomit
Cons: I arrived at pick up location only to inspect vehicle and find that it smelled like vomit and the seats and carpet floors were stained...customer rep seemed disinterested and unapologetic...I canceled the reservation because they didn't have another comparable vehicle and they are still charging me $50 for canceling after I was inconvenienced and had to pay almost double at another location because of the short notice....will never use that company again

Car did the job, terrible customer service
Pros: The rental car was clean and had everything we needed. Good gas mileage.
Cons: The customer service was horrible. When I arrived there was a man working the desk and a woman walking around in back. It took him 10 minutes to log into the computer and when I asked if someone else could help in the mean time he replied he was the only one there. He had a terrible attitude and had no sense of urgency. When he finally got to me (20min later) he tried to give me an old mini van rental, stating that I wouldn't have to wait. I wanted the economy car that I had requested. Well that took another 20 minutes for him to continue with other customers before going out to pick out which car I would get (had to find it in the lot). Overall, I mentioned several times that I was on a schedule and had a reservation to get to. He didn't seem to care of take that into consideration at all. It took 45 minutes for me to complete my rental and get my car. I was late for my reservation and will likely not rent from this company again. A little extra money is worth my time and happiness.

Pros: Was awesome to rent the car at a cheap price for the day. Will definitely do it again when needed thanks Kayak.
Pros: Upgraded to a minivan at no charge. Very friendly and helpful staff at the desk (David Fox).
Cons: Car was down to 3/4 of a tank.

Pros: Friendly staff. Location of car and ease of exiting property.
Cons: Confusion on fuel surcharge. Caused an issue when I returned the car in Tallahassee.

Not enough options
Pros: The price was fair. The staff was fine. The car was clean.
Cons: I had to wait in line for 45 minutes before I was able to see an attendant (even though I had a reservations).
That's the last thing you feel like doing after a long flight.
I reserved a full size SUV, I requested something luxury and the ONLY full sized vehicle they had was a Toyota Sequoia. Next time I'll be renting a car with a company with more options for my to choose from.

I need of a better company
Cons: I was never notified that the drop off location was closed. I had to return the car a day late and at a different location.

Pros: I liked the car, was a littler small however was great on gas going from fl to sc.
Cons: Car smelled like smoke, stains on back seat....employees at airport seemed disinterested. There was a lack of explanation for rental agreement before purchase. I purchased the rental through priceline and everything online went perfectly. Got to the airport and was told I had to put a $200 holding fee on my debit card and pass a credit check. None of these wold have been a problem with proper explanation beforehand, coold have went to another option. Normally I wouldn't have an issue but this time I was forced to have my brother be the primary driver on the rental agreement and pay with his credit card. I just feel like this is an issue I shouldn't have had to go through and avis and priceline need have better communication on the guidelines and perameters.

Slow counter service
Pros: Got a car.
Cons: The Budget counter served 5 people to the Avis counter's 2. Agent was a bit unhelpful and mildly rude.
