10.0 Excellent
Pros: The attention to the customer by the owner, Eduardo, is well beyond any expectations. He has tips, suggestions and information, he is there for the customers from the morning when he prepares an excellent breakfast to the evening. Eduardo is always keen to help in arranging day trips, book restaurants, arrange guided tours, etc. Having extensively traveled I can affirm that this is a one in a kind service. Not to mention the hotel itself which is beautifully decorated, comes with all sort of comforts and is centrally located in the main square of Colonia. Outstanding in many ways!
Cons: There is nothing that I did not like or which I'd recommend to improve.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I had an overnight stay here in Colonia and really loved this place - close to being my favorite accommodation on this trip to South America. The place is decorated in all sorts of memorabilia / art. The room is spacious and clean - bed was comfy, bathroom was very good. Breakie was fantastic - and was made available to me a little earlier than usual because I was catching the early ferry. This place is located in the centre of the old town so is close to all of the Colonia sights and some good restaurants.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Eduardo the host was very helpful - with suggestions of where to eat and an insight into the character and strengths of Uruguay. The accommodation is unique - full of photographs, objets d'art, and a personal collection of memorabilia.
Cons: It is perhaps unfair to be a little negative but we stayed during a massive thunderstorm and the noise of heavy rain on a corrugated roof kept us awake. The room was smaller than expected though clever use of mirrors made it appear larger. Eggs were not offered at breakfast but sandwiches for our bus journey to Montevideo was a bonus
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great creatieve place on the main square if Colonial. Perfect room and commun-areas (garden, diningroom etc.). Eduardo is a great host, who knows a lot about the area. He also gave good tips for restaurants and bars. Breakfast is nice to!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Eduardo is an excellent host, focused on all of the small details that makes your stay excellent. Highly recommend to others.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Eduardo converted this house right in the heart of the historic quarter into a live collage of artwork and collectables. Our room was decorated with the same attention to detail than the rest of the guesthouse - while being comfortable and super clean. Breakfast was freshly made and very nice, and we very much enjoyed chatting with Eduardo as he prepared it. If you enjoy staying in small places with character and style, you will love it. Eduardo is a wonderful host who happily provides recommendations and takes such great care of his guests.
Cons: Nothing

7.0 Good
Cons: Host knew we had limited time to talk and he would not take us having to go for an answer. He then talked down to us about a towel policy that we said we were okay with us. Bed was terrible if shared, moved like an earthquake
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I do not have the words to describe how lovely this stay in Colonias was for me!! I am already plotting how to build and recreate this exact place on our land in Hawaii. From the moment that I arrived, the experience that Luis had created was perfect in every way. I had just come from a hectic visit to Buenos Aires, and my stay here calmed and nourished my soul. It was quiet, beautiful, relaxing, lovely in asthetics, and spotless. I felt safe while I stayed here, and rested when I left. Luis greeted me warmly, and made me feel like a friend who would be missed at my departure. As if Colonia itself was not enough, I am already dreaming of returning just so I can stay here. There is no other place to book in Colonia- of this I am certain. I've stayed in many places across the globe and this will always be one of my favorites and very dear to my heart. One of a kind!
Cons: There is absolutely nothing I would change or wish for- except to stay longer.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Totally loved the attitude of the Staff which welcomed us upon our arrival and kept on. They were very attentive, with loads of good humor. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, the only problem was wet windows and floor below them probably due to the difference in internal and external temperatures. The neighbourhood is very calm, pretty and climatic. From the 1-st floor you can observe the roofs of the nearby houses. The old town which is minutes away is absolutely lovely. You can soak in it for long long time. The hotel matches the old town impressions and let you embrace them even more.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great, location was convenient, staff was friendly and provided everything we needed.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The lobby and all common areas had modern stylings. The rooms themselves were all required and also updated style-wise. I loved the waterfall shower.
Cons: The comforter on the bed was not clean and had stains. There is no gym or health club. As it was winter during my stay, I did not use the pool, but it looked very small.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, half a block from Historic district, nice premises, lots of light and nice common areas.
Cons: Nothing.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff, good breakfast, and very good atmosphere. I loved the decoration of the whole building.
Cons: The room was a bit smaller than I thought. The bathroom needs a towel holder as well.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was excellent dulce de leche+ coconut pastry in particular. The room was quiet and the wifi worked well
Cons: Only Spanish TV available. IMHO rooms above 100$US per day should have some international TV Channels such as BBCWorld or TV5 available
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is very close to the historical center of the city, and close to very nice restaurants. It was a great experience, I do recommend it.
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Bathroom sink too small and no counter space.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I became sick while on my way to Colonia and ended up staying longer than planned at Charco. They were AMAZING, arranging for me to stay in the same room, sending special meals from room service, and sending a doctor at no charge to check on me. It was so wonderful to be so well cared for so far from home. Once I was well enough to explore, the town is adorable and Charco is in a perfect location to explore on foot. The food in the restaurant is insanely good as well!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The decor and our room was lovely. The Charco Bistrot was outstanding.
Cons: Hot water / shower difficulties either super hot or luke warm
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the view from the restaurant was beautiful, the location superb. The food was awsome and the staff very friendly. The best thing is the scenary its like travelling to the past.
Cons: the hotel is not very stroller friendly but the zone beeing a colonial area was not prepared for strollers (irregullar stone streets and many stairs).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. It is simply perfect. The food is particularly memorable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is located in the historical district of Colonia, so everything you want to visit is a few minutes by walk of it, which is great. We stayed in one of the 'white rooms' (no. 6). It's not a big room, but was clean, comfortable and had none of the problems that were mentioned in an earlier comment, so I guess they took care of fixing them. The breakfast is served in the bistro, with a beautiful view of the river, which is no more than 20 meters from the hotel. We also enjoyed dinner there and I'd recommend it if you want to have a pleasant night. The staff was really nice and helpful.
Cons: Can't say that we disliked anything of the hotel, honestly.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: An awesome guest house with helpful staff A perfect location and easy walking distance to see the attractions and handy to the restaurants Loved the atmosphere of this posada centred around the courtyard
Cons: The towels were clean but a little worn
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is a simple place, yet adorned just perfectly to make it a beautiful place to stay.
Cons: Nothing! I thought about it and couldn’t find a single critique!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is ideal- right next to the historic center. Rooms are clean, and beds are really, really comfortable. But what really won our hearts over, was the "merienda" they offer, between 5pm and 8pm, courtesy of the Posada. We only stayed one night, but even after checking out the second day, they invited us to return in the afternoon for the merienda again. Same with the bikes- we were able to use them for free both days, even after our check-out time. This guest-care was very special, and we would totally recommend staying there anytime. Thank you!
Cons: Everything was perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked every single thing about Posada de la Flor. All the space is carefully thought to make you feel in a dream. The place is full with romantic details. Everything is score 10! I could not recommend it more.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hudge beds and clean crisp bedding. The courtyard..beautiful building ..roof terrace overlooking the sea. Free afternoon tea and cakes, lemonade and board games ..
Cons: Nothing...just the mosquitos. And the expensive restaurants..

Pros: An amazing cozy house a few km outside Colonia in a beautiful setting. Lots of trees, plants and beautiful swimming pool! Very friendly owner; simply we loved it!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a fabulous place to stay. Our room was very spacious, we booked a triple. The view of gardens, pool and lime groves was sublime. The bed was comfy and the shower was hot with a rain forest type shower head. The people were very nice, we managed to communicate with our limited Spanish. They even provided a ride to the bus station at no cost to us. We were charmed by the whole place. Also wonderful art and antiques. Breakfast was good with fresh cooked eggs, fruit, cheeses, and much more.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect place for couples, romantic, simple but chic, all details covered, mega kind staff, great value for money, delicious home made breakfast, personalised attention like every single guest is VIP for them. Is totally visible that they take care for every detail to make our stay as perfect as it was. We'll come back for sure, longer stay! Thanks to Fatima, Sergio y Mario, you make the difference.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The grounds and house were amazing. The staff was very friendly and always helpful. Service was very good.
Cons: 1. The owners are not compliaing with foreign tax rebates. Uruguay offers tax benefits (14-18%) for travelers when you pay with credit card and such were not available at the stay. 2. It was hard to sleep at night due to doors and windows left open in the adjacent vacant rooms. They were opening and slamming shut all night. It was extremely loud and made for a bad night sleep.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place is terrific . The house is very nice decorated - also with paintings of the owner. You can walk around the lemon trees and outside as well until you see the Rio de Plata. It is very close to Colonia del Sacramento.
Cons: n.a.

7.1 Good
Pros: The beds are big and very comfortable. Clean rooms and nice staff. Ps: they have the best handmade bread in Uruguay The pool was open in September (which is great because not all the hotels have them open during low season)
Cons: The location it’s a bit far from the center, so you need to take taxis all the time (no shops or restaurants around the area) The rooms were cold and smell damp (even when the whole design of the hotel is new and looks great)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is very modern and very well equipped. The small fridge and microwave are super useful. Breakfast is extraordinary (fruit, ham and cheese, yoghurt, pastries, etc), indoors swimming pool is small but very nice, and small gym is nice too. We also had massages which were great. Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable. Super friendly staff, always there to help with any issues. Good variety of breakfast.
Cons: A little far away from the historic center, but still walkable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved everything about it - the host went above and beyond and were the most amazing and friendly people! The location is amazing and it is just perfect!
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very helpful at all times. The location is very close to the ferry and to the bus station (1-2 minutes), so it's great if you have a lot of baggage but no car. It takes about 10 minutes to walk to the old part of the town.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Not even a five minute walk from the ferry terminal, this property is about as convenient as can be. I had taken an evening ferry over from Buenos Aires, and after landing, was checked in and in my room within 20 minutes. The next morning, it was nice to enjoy the tasty included breakfast, and I then strolled around Colonia to take in the sights. After a couple hours (no need to plan for much more time, I felt good about covering everything to see in town), returned to the hotel and beat their 11 am checkout time. The bus station is right next to the ferry, and it’s possible to coordinate a cheaper ride to Montevideo than what the bundled Buquebus ferry/bus options are. Bed was comfortable.
Cons: Walls aren’t insulated too well, so you can enjoy the neighbors’ conversations if you speak their language. Also was a bit cramped in the room, though as a solo traveler, not an issue.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: 1 block from ferry and bus station, good breakfast provided. Walking distance to restaurants and shops.
Cons: Had a room upstairs, not easy with bags, no heater in bathroom. No english channel on cable.
7.9 Good
Pros: Nice little boutique hotel near the bus and ferry, which was perfect when coming from Montevideo en route to Buenos Aires. Friendly, helpful staff were great.
Cons: Lots of noise by other guests in the courtyard adjacent to our room was annoying, as they chatted loudly on their mobile phones at all hours while smoking outside... Breakfast was the same each day, and lacked fruit options.
7.9 Good
Pros: Staff was really helpful, they even changed our room upon request without questioning. There was no private parking, but our motorcycles were ok for the duration of our stay, on the street.
Cons: Lumpy pillows and bathrooms in need of a renovation. Plenty of hot water but not much pressure from the shower. Seems like normal in Uruguay to serve eggs in a pot over a réchaud, which is always off. The room was not really spacious and there was nowhere to store our bags and hang clothes from, apart from two plastic hangers on the wall.

6.7 Good
Pros: Centrally located, tasty but basic breakfast included. Place looka better on photos, though...
Cons: This place is probably more like a summer hostel, because in off-season it gets a bit neglected. A lot of dust in the common bathroom, i.e. There are no hooks or hangers whatsoever in the dorm room... how am I supposed to hang my coat/shirt/hat? Plus, there was a lot of complicated communication with the place, they were planning on closing and they transfered me to another place, only to decide that they were going to be open after and then told me I can stay there. Funny stuff. Loud street, suprisingly, plus there’s a all-night Casino on the other side od the street that lights like a Christmas tree... very hard to sleep.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Overall nice and clean place to stay. Good bathrooms and comfy beds. Helpful and nice personnel.
Cons: Window didn’t close properly so it was a bit cold and loud at night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing hostel, staff super helpful and conversational, very nice and clean modern bathrooms,
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was really good and tasty, it was a plus the dulce de leche´s option. Even though it didn´t include some fruits, in general was very complete. What it makes your stay such a relaxing time is the working staff of the hostel, they are very trustful persons. Also, I loved that it is located in a walking distance from everything. I highly recommend it!
Cons: I think they should put an effort in cleaning maintenance. Sometimes. the public bathroom was a dirty and smelled bad.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location, huge window.
Cons: The blinds stank extremely, so we didn't use them.

Pros: The room was large and comfortable with lovely furnishings, a balcony, and a view of the ocean. Breakfast was also good, and in a lovely colonial room.
Cons: The only issue was a long argument with the manager to get the room with a view we had purchased, which was only resolved when we said we were leaving, and a nice room magically became available.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The house is just amazing and it’s very peaceful.. the best place we stayed in our trip..
4.6 Okay
Pros: Beds and room were clean. Within walking distance of old town There was a room for a family of 6 to be together.
Cons: Bathroom was across the corridor, and had a terrible lock that only adults could use. So we had to accompany each of our 4 young children, every time one of them needed the bathroom. The bathroom window wouldn’t close and there was no heating. It was freezing!! No one got washed for 3 days as we couldn’t bear to take our clothes off in the cold. (On the last morning they gave us an electric heater for the bathroom and when I had a bath it was old, dirty and taps fell off! ( toilet seat damaged and unhygienic, and tap water came out brown the first time I used it ) The bedroom was freezing when we arrived and the heater didn’t work properly, it took 18 hours to get the room to a comfortable temperature so we went to bed cold on the first night. (The double bed was on a mezzanine where the heater was, that eventually warmed up, downstairs where the bunk beds were was always cold). The descriptions said B and B but no breakfast was provided, when we asked they said we were welcome to make our own in the communal kitchen! Owners were not on site so we had to communicate our concerns through booking.com if they were not at the property when we had an issue. they need to advertise more accurately and make clear there is no breakfast, the family bathroom is across the main hallway of the house and fix the heating!!!! Poor value for money and not family friendly. I would not stay here again.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The people who worked there were nice and easy to work with.
Cons: Shared a bathroom when I thought I had my own.

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Viajero Colonia Hostel in Colonia del Sacramento (Barrio Histórico), you'll be steps from Indian Museum and Rambla Colonia Del Sacramento. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, luggage storage, and laundry facilities.
4.6 Okay
Cons: In general I really enjoy loud music, but there is a time and place for everything. After a whole day of traveling having to listen to extremely loud techno music of a purposely booked DJ which is only enjoyed by the staff, not the guests, until the middle of the night is definitley neither the right time nor place. The reason one goes to a hostel is to be able to sleep, that's what you pay for and that's what you should get. Worst hostel of our trip.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great stay, would recommend. Nice breakfast and bar, and good price.
Cons: Nothing, loved it!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Awesome location and facilities.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location, good breakfast, nice bar!
Cons: Heating does not work, not enough bathrooms

Pros: What you see is what you get. Everything is simple but it is good. The livingroom is nice and the kitchen has everything you need. You walk directly into town, the atmosphere is great and the personel also.
Cons: There aren't enough showers and toilets. There was a big group so we had to wait a while longer. The heater takes a while to get warm
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The building looks great. It is very clean and bathrooms are very clean too. Kitchen is big and common rooms are good too. The decoration of the house is great.
Cons: The atmosphere was not great. People were not speaking to each other much. Staff spoke little English. We were at low season so there was no other guests that spoke English so it was a bit lonely. There's only 4 toilets for the whole floor.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed was really comfy
Cons: Breakfast was pretty average and wasn’t included in the price. The room was nice but smelled really damp.
4.6 Okay
Pros: coffee was good. position was very good.
Cons: I was there for 6 days and my room was only clean twice and that was change towels only. I had a guest the we need to speak privately and he was not allowed to come to the room!!! I have travel all over the world and that never happen to me. I specially request a room on the bottom floor twice because this person can't not go up the stairs and they where giving me one upstairs. Nowhere was showing on the rules or informed they we not allowed visits in the room. I found that very offend it and out of place!!!

Pros: This was my fourth stay at Posada del Angel and their staff so kind and gentle and the ambiance so magic as always
Cons: having to leave
7.9 Good
Pros: Angel is a very kind person who makes you feel welcome! The property is very well located and the building is quite new... the bedroom is comfortable, clean and warm, but could be renovated, especially the bathroom.
Cons: The breakfast wasn't what I was expecting, but it wasn´t bad. The bathroom is old fashion and could be renovated, but all the other stuff overcome these things, as the location and the staff.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice location. Convenient to the port. Very friendly personnel and a fun and comfortable old-school vibe. They didn’t speak much English and my Spanish is minimal but we managed to communicate nevertheless. (They helped me to return my rental car!)They let us keep our bags here while we explored the city on the day we checked out. They also have a nice common room for guests. Even the hotel cat is friendly. Excellent place!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good swimming pool Nice staff Breakfast Close to town centre
Cons: Had a windowless room (but no big issue for u)s
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Pleasant base for exploring Colonia. 5-10 mins walk to old town and to the feŕry terminal.
Cons: Bedding - a nice feather duvet was provided, but no duvet cover, just sheets. Asked for a duvet cover and our host could only rustle up a single size duvet cover for a double sized duvet. Would suggest investing in some (cotton) duvet covers...

7.5 Good
Cons: American in the next room shouting in his room from 5am and staff were unwilling to help with the matter. This resulted in me getting very little sleep. Hotel itself is lovely
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, wonderful staff and facilities, WiFi, heated pool and jacuzzi, let us check out later than normal, spacious rooms, nothing was a problem. Make sure you get a river room, well worth the extra cost to sit out on your balcony.
Cons: Everything was perfect
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Room was spacious, beds were great. Jacuzzi and pool also nice.
Cons: Only a few staffmembers spoke English. We were waiting in the hotelbar for quite some time, staff saw us standing there but did not help us. We had to ask them before they came to get us some drinks (not a great service).

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location was excellent, close by to everywhere that you needed to be. Anytime that we needed a taxi, the hotel would call one for us. It was very clean and comfortable to stay in. The rooms were a good size and provided toiletries.
Cons: There was no safe in the room. The breakfast was a big dissapointment, there was no hot food such as eggs. It was not a substantial breakfast to set you off for the day. Considering the price, I thought that the breakfast could have been more than just cakes, toast and cereal.
6.7 Good
Cons: Very small room.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Receptionists are helpful.
Cons: Bads are small, shower is poor, breakfast has not even simple things to offer like eggs or honey.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good location. Clean. Friendly and helpful staff. A bit basic in places, it is not a 5* hotel, but it is nice and clean and good facilities for the price.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything, real friendly staff, great buffet breakfast, comfortable bed and nice warm bedroom. Location is excellent.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Easy to find.
Cons: The room was not at all like the pictures. False advertising. It was small dingy and old. My major concern was the loose door knob and a small lock on the door which a small child could probably push in. The room was not secure! There is nothing updated in this place and has a dusty feel with windows facing a brick building. Horribly disappointing especially when there are some nice places for the same price not far away. No vent in the bathroom, mold in the shower. This is probably a one or two star facility, not the three or four I was expecting. A terrible experience.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Location , breakfast.
Cons: The windows at the room are not wooden and it takes the wind inside. We just got cold in 1 night. Some of front desk smiley some of not. No bellboy to help to carry our baggages. No minibar or basket at the room. We had 2 nights but we checked out 2nd night.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Front desk was helpful, could speak English. Room was clean with private bathroom. Continental breakfast was pleasant in appearance with cold foods, cereal, fruit and sweets.
Cons: Room was small but adequate for a late night checkin and early morning checkout. Lots of noise carried from the hallway.
