9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very comfy place, great location, awesome brekkie and a fabulous host. Terry you are a star ⭐️
9.2 Excellent
Pros: I stayed here on my first night in Scotland and it was (as the Host Terry would say) fantastic! It's close to the city center and has a private, large parking lot. The House also has a nice room with tables and a bar which everyone can use. The hosts like to have a chat with their guests and give you tips for your holiday (to Terry: i did the electric brae!). The Single Bedroom was quite small but that was ok for 1 night. The bathroom looked very new. The breakfast consist of a little buffet with cereals and everything else is cooked fresh depending on your joice (the guests fill out a form the day before).
Cons: The only thing that I could mention would be the large aspalted parking lot. I don't think that so many carparks are needed and even if so it would be possible to design that a bit more attractive.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a fabulous location in easy reach of the beautiful Solway coast and terrific local restaurants. Terry and Lynn are both lovely and helped me find a great place to take my partner for a birthday dinner. Breakfast was amazing and huge, you will not go hungry, the haggis was a particular favourite. So nice to have a bar too so that after a long day you can just relax with a drink. Fantastic for bikers with special parking and the offer of a drying room. Lucky for us the weather was amazing! Terry also printed out a run route with suggested stops along the way, you cannot beat the knowledge of a local biker. The room was very comfortable and so clean with so many little touches that if you had forgotten anything they were thought of. Our weekend was perfect.
Cons: There was nothing to dislike.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location was good, parking was easy enough. The room was lovely and very comfortable. The bathroom was on the small side but had everything we needed. The breakfast was delicious - served to order, fresh and hot. For us Bernadette was the icing on the cake, with a cherry on top. She was a fantastic host. She was attentive, very friendly and informative. Thank you for our stay we'll most definitely be in touch the next time we visit Dumfries.
Cons: Restaurants could serve food later than 8.30pm - we had a long drive from Oban and struggled to find somewhere to eat. This was nothing to do with Bernadette (she actually let us know early on into our trip) or our stay but something to consider in general.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Good value for money. Nice sized rooms - good breakfast - lovely host. Well located with short 10-15 minute walk into centre of town with choice of eating places. Host a mine of knowledge about eating places and places to vist. Thanks Bernadette - we ate splendidly during our stay!

5.8 Okay
Pros: Location. Shower was good. Bed and bedding good. Staff friendly but v inexperienced in dealing with drinks order. Hendricks gin in Scotland and we had to send them back.
Cons: Very shabby inside the old hotel-there is a modern extension we were not in. Receptionist had poor English Windows were old sashes with bodged repairs and flaking paint. Food was mediocre for evening meal and worse for breakfast. Poor menu and bland execution. Why so mean with the ice in our G and T; 2 tiny ice cubes Annoying TV showing quick flickering corpoeate adds for the hotel was in close eyeline at breakfast. Migraine inducing but staff could not turn it off. Luckily the food was so poor we did not need to linger. Avoid this place. Looks nice from the outside in its grounds but the overall experience was depressing. Definitely will not be staying here or this chain again

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good and on time, Beds were comfortable, Everything very clean
9.6 Excellent
Pros: From the walk up, the Guest house is stunning. Immaculate front of property with lush green lawn and bright fragrant flowers. Colin & his staff went out of their way to welcome us and treated us like family. Any place can be sweet for a night or 2, we stayed 6 nights here. Room was cleaned & stocked daily, very quiet facility. we barely heard any of the other guest, even with it full booked each day. Warm welcome by owner, Colin. Offers as much helpful tips of the area (or quiet) as you wish. Colin & staff go out of their way to be helpful, to please. Dining room is charming. Just mark your cooked breakfast order slip the night before & meal time, leave it at the desk by 10pm. The guest house is old & rich in heritage, as many building in the are. Love the history that the marble fireplace in our room was built in 1865. Colin let us hold our Renewing vows ceremony in the lovely small garden area. Since I mentioned in booking that we were on holiday, to celebrate our 10th anniversary, we found a delightful Anniversary card, with a hand written inscription from Colin & staff.
Cons: Only negative - Some updates & repairs are due. Considering the age of the building itself, it is understandable. I also know enough that the most needed repairs are costly, and it is hard to drop $ on carpet that is fairly good shape with larger bills overhead. Vintage Guest homes do not have lifts.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Ideal location close to the station and town centre. For the price, excellent value considering ironing board and iron, hairdryer in every room and breakfast included. The owner couldn't have been more helpful which was greatly appreciated.

Pros: Soft comfy beds that were long enough for me (6'2''), private entrance so I didn't wake people returning late. Modern bathroom was small but totally adequate for 1 or 2 people. Surprisingly good wifi given the thick walls. Ample off street parking. I definitely plan to return with my partner next time we're in the Galloway area.
Cons: Having to leave :)

Cons: nil
9.2 Excellent

Pros: Beautiful place, quiet and peaceful with excellent scenery
Cons: Dirty windows spoil beautiful view. A little rough around the edges
5.4 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: Very dour hotel.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Set in beautiful grounds. Breakfast was fine.
Cons: Stayed in a pebble dashed annex next to a derelict building 100 metres from main hotel building. As the only guests not in the wedding party made us feel like an inconvenience. Felt pressured to make quick decision for a dinner reservation so when we decided to go into town to eat, there was a reluctance to open the bar for us on our return. On checking out was given an invoice for more than the agreed price so I was kept waiting while receptionist worked out how to reduce our bill.
6.3 Good
Pros: Evening meal was excellent.
Cons: Breakfast not good - although supposedly cooked fresh looked as it had been kept warm. Sash window would not close in bedroom
6.3 Good
Pros: Shabby Edwardian country house converted to hotel. Prettily set in its own quiet park with the fast-flowing river close to the front of the house. Room well made up.
Cons: My room was carelessly converted and poorly thought-out, with cheap DIY type fittings. It was a 'single' room, with a double bed, which took up too much space. There was no room for the chair in front of the desk, which covered the wall-light switch. A bit bonkers. The bathroom was on the wrong side, half obscuring the window. A wasted opportunity, really. After waiting thirty-five minutes at breakfast, I intercepted the waitress to ask for tea, and placed my order for eggs. Most of the buffet was empty by then.

Cons: The bread battered fish was too hard and the fish was very dry underneath. My partner's was the battered fish and was very good.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Loved the location and surrounding grounds. The room was comfortable and spacious too. Enjoyed the 2 meals we had in the Restaurant. Felt safe and secure. Generally light and airy. Good car parking right outside with CCTV. My Husband really enjoyed the breakfasts especially. Vegetarians catered for too; good selection of food on the menu both for breakfast and evening meals.
Cons: Surprised it didn’t, have a safe in the room... pillows were a little hard; but we did get them changed...the one thing that did surprise me though, was they had no hand soap in the bathroom at all. Upon arrival the first thing I did was go to the loo. Had to use the little tube of shower gel instead.
