Pros: Personal Onsen. Rooftop view. Helpful room staff. Delicious dinner
Cons: We needed help getting a taxi to pick us up from a shrine 20 minutes away. The same concierge team that had helped us get a taxi there in the first place, denied us help and we struggled to find transportation back for an hour, almost missing our paid-for breakfast. They said they didn’t know what we looked like and wouldn’t be able to send a taxi to us. We were disappointed in this service as it left a bad taste on the day we were checking out. Other than that, the rest of the staff was helpful, respectful and great.

Pros: Really near the main bus station – a plus point because we were freezing when we arrived and didn't have to suffer in the cold for so long. I also had slight reservations about this place before arriving, with its shared bathroom and all, but to my surprise it was all very clean and we didn't bump into other guests at all during our stay. I also liked the vibe of this place, it was very homey. The room we got was really spacious, so we were happy about that! The staff was very friendly, and respectful of guests' privacy.
Cons: I can't say that there was anything I didn't like. We enjoyed our stay very much.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location! My room 203 can see the Mt. Fuji in the evening and morning. it's a very nice view. The staff is so kind. The guesthouse is clean and convenient. Highly recommendation!
Cons: They should lock the door all the time instead of 9.00 pm because when the staff leaves it's easy for an outsider to come inside the guesthouse. Should be safer.

Pros: Great location with 3 mins walk from the station Shared bathroom and toilet are very clean, new and well equipped. Comfortable room with tatami Can even see Mt fuji from the room window
Cons: None

Pros: The property is a 10 minute walk from the lake. But the room has fantastic views of Mt Fuji and it was beautiful to see it in the morning. Very clean rooms and an excellent Yoshi-san who went out of the way to make us feel comfortable. He takes special care explaining the details and very soon one feels quite at home. 10.0 Excellent
Pros: 1. Location: nothing beats waking up to the view of Mount Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi just outside the hotel! 2. Facilities: 2 free onsens are really good, with the view of Mt Fuji! Feels recharged! 3. Kaiseki dinner + breakfast: i’ve never had such traditional and elaborated meals before. I couldn’t have appreciated it more! 4. Service: Staffs are ALL so friendly, approachable, helpful and easy going. Free shuttle bus from Kawaguchi station, and they even sent us back to the station even after the shuttle bus operating hours. 5. Transport: Red line brings you to the hotel, at both Stops 11 & 12.
Cons: There is nothing to dislike about this place. It was way above our expectations!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff who will go the extra mile to make you feel welcomed. Shuttle service was great, driver was attentive and happy to help. Rooms are clean.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The design of the hotel which combines traditional Japanese architecture and modern industrial design is the main reason I chose to stay at this hostel! The facilities are in good condition and the location is great! the restaurant
Cons: nothing really, maybe there could be more options for breakfast
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The entire hostel is so tastefully decorated. We stayed in a Japanese style room and loved it. The futtons are really really comfortable and, for us, it was just an awesome experience. From the private rooms you also have a direct view of Fuji from your window which is just the cherry on top. The breakfast was the best breakfast we had our entire 3-week trip in Japan! The location is really convenient: close to the station, multiple supermarkets nearby and even a bunch of restaurants. A 30-year (yes 30!) cat also partially lives in the hostel which is just awesome.
Cons: Like al lot of other reviews have mentioned, it is a bit inconvenient that you have to go downstairs to shower. If you are aware before though, no big deal. The restaurant was closed when we got to the hostel without us knowing. We counted on eating there. Would have been nice if the hostel announced which 5/6 days a week the restaurant is open.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic Japanese luxury ryokan with a private onsen, which is great for tourists who wants to experience authentic Japan.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: A very beautiful resort onsen. We had an onsen suite which meant we had our own private onsen. It was wonderful to use as the nights were chilly. Loved it! The staff was excellent and spoke great English, which was quite helpful since our Japanese is very basic! We would stay here again!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect. The bathroom was direct to the Onsen which was very convenient. The bedroom is big enough for 2 persons. Breakfast was phenomenon.
Cons: The smell of gas while the heat was turning on both indoor and outdoor.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Visiting Japan, we were looking for opportunities to experience its onsen culture, kaisei cuisine, traditional culture and visit to the nature. This was a dreams-come-true stay at Fuji Onsenji Yumedono and visit to the Kawaguchiko for Mt. Fuji. The dinner and breakfast were just exquisite and spiritually and physically fulfilling. The hotel is within walking distance to the Kawaguchiko bridge where photography lovers would find the perfect spot for Mt Fuji (and gyuku (opposite) Fuji). It was easy to access other sightseeing spots by foot or by bus as well. All the staff were so friendly and helpful and extremely polite and professional-- taught us how to wear the ukata, found extra cape for our 6-year-old daughter and helped with pick-up, luggage, etc. The on-suite private onsen was just a bless & bliss! No embarrassment at communal bath and no time limits. We used it before and after dinner and breakfast and felt so relaxed and rejuvenated. We will definitely come back again in the future.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cleanliness Professional staff Convinience
Cons: -
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful view when I take a bath. Food is nice and I was surprised especially breakfast ,there were many things to eat! Staffs were very kind to our child.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: They have a beautiful private onsen for each room. The staffs were so so polite. The dinner and breakfast was amazing. The entire experience is perfect. You can experienced Japanese culture here.
Cons: The only things to be improved maybe just the guidance from the staff, eg. I don’t know how to wear their Yukata (a kind of Japanese onsen suit) and there’s no hint in the room; while having dinner / breakfast, I’m not quite sure how to start. And also, if we can see Mount Fuji while in the onsen, that probably will add marks to the entire experience. But they still worth 5 stars for sure.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful onsen, the staff were lovely and the location was great!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: hot springs and meals. both breakfast and dinner were better than in Palace Hotel Tokyo!
Cons: well, it is traditional Japanese inn, so you sleep on the floor ;)
Wakakusa No Yado Maruei Ryokan - Fujikawaguchiko - Building

5.4 Okay
Pros: The food is delicious, the room is spacious. Some staffs were helpful and pleasant. You can see Mount Fuji and the lake.
Cons: Dusty and not very clean(windows facing the lake view is a bit blurry due to the unclean windows). Location very isolated without much amenities in the vicinity. Some of the room might have a musky smell. At 12 midnight the pipes rattling probably from the draining of the water is really loud making it hard to sleep. Facilities are old rustic and maybe out of date.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: view and hot spring
Cons: a spa at every room would be nice
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good service and nice hot spring.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My parents were visiting Japan and wanted a taste of a traditional Japanese ryokan. They (and I) were amazed by the attention to detail and the level of service provided by the hotel staff. I ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel and it was one of the best meals I've eaten in Japan--many small dishes that vary in texture in flavor. My parents were not comfortable with public bathing and were grateful that Maruei offers private onsen. For me, I enjoyed the three different public baths offered! From the rooftop of the hotel, we were able to enjoy views of Mt. Fuji. Based on some reviews we were concerned about the location of the hotel. However, if the weather is nice it's a nice walk from the central area to the hotel. There is also a free shuttle on check-in/check-out and a public bus that passes by. For us, the location wasn't a problem at all. I definitely can recommend Maruei if you are staying in Kawaguchiko!
Cons: Nothing! Everything was great. No complaints.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is absolutely stunning with amazing views of Mt. Fuji and located directly on the lake. The staff is amazingly friendly, helpful and kind! Loved loved loved our stay!

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great. It felt like we were staying at someone’s home for a few days! The family were lovely and super attentive, who all went above and beyond to ensure we got the most out of our stay, and tailored our breakfast to suit our dietary requirements, making us feel like we were at a 5 star hotel at times. Thank you all very much for everything!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My husband, friends and I all looked to our overnight onsen experience as a highlight of our trip. Some of the points that made our visit so wonderful were: -Wonderful onsen experience -Helpful owners that went out of their way to make your stay memorable -Shuttle to the train station -Delicious homemade breakfast -Mix of Japanese and European style
Cons: Not really something I disliked, but be prepared for the owners not speaking much English. A few of my friends had some limited use of Japanese, which made things much smoother than they would have been otherwise.
7.9 Good
Pros: I came for the Fuji 5 Lakes Ultra. As there is no hotel plan available for overseas runners, I have to find a hotel closest to the start line so that I can walk to the start in the early morning. To my surprise, the lodge owner offered a ride to me which helped me greatly. Much appreciated.
Cons: I can't think of any for the moment.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Quiet setting, good breakfast, very friendly hosts, free use of city bicycles, laundrymat close by. Nice outdoor hot tub/Jacuzzi
Cons: The location is slightly out of town, but the hosts offer to drive you into town or local restaurants and pick you up so it wasn't a problem. This wasn't really a negative but just to make you aware that it is not in the center of town.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: This is a lovely place to stay. A characterful property, warm and cosy, in an idyllic setting. With limited English, the owner is helpful and courteous; facilities are acceptable, including a private Onsen. The rooms are of a very good size, clean and with all the necessities.
Cons: I made the mistake of forgetting my International Driving License and so couldn't rent a car - Don't make the same mistake, your own transport is an absolute must at this property!!!! The free pick-up and drop-off to/from the station is at very restricted times (to suit the owner). Communication with the hotel is quite limited but that could be due to the language barrier. Does not have a proper shower, just a handheld shower hose
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff were delightful - very friendly and helpful. They gave us a lift into the town, booked us a restaurant for dinner, and took us to the mid-winter fireworks display (we didn't know there was one).
7.9 Good
Pros: Staff were incredibly accommodating, picking us up from the station, driving us to Fuji Q and back and lending us torches. Very friendly and lovely even though they claimed to have poor English. Room was decent size, comfy and clean.
Cons: Our room was set up with two single beds, but may have just been an error with the booking I made. Although my husband and I didn't mind walking through the forest to get to some restaurants for dinner, it may bother some people.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Fancy breakfast with a thoughtful touch. And there’s a onsen room where we can soak a tired body with a hot spring. The interior and exterior design brought a european ambience which is very unique and full of character.
Cons: The staff cannot speak english. It’s bit hard to communicate but they had a pocket translator. The bed is hard and the pillow is minimalist. The location is in the woods. It’s not walking distance to the nearest shop or restaurant. But they are willing to pick up and drop off every day.

Pros: The host was very kind. I had a back injury. They helped me to lift the luggages to the third floor and also drove me to the kawaguchiko station when I left.
Cons: Shower was a bit odd. You will have to sit and shower. Also there is no hot water from the basin on 2nd and 3rd floor.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The Japanese style room. The location near to rail and bus station.
Cons: A bit pricy. Dinner was quite expensive.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great service by the host and hostess. The futon beds were comfortable and room was spacious for four of us. Breakfast was well prepared and tasty. Yukatas were prepared for us. Host offered us a lift to the station which was unexpected. Made our stay in Japan very special.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a ryokan hotel and you have everything you need within this concept. I had a whole selection of blankets and futons should I have needed more. Sparsley furnished within this concept everything was spotless. In my room in the morning from the extreme left hand window one had the most stunning view of Mount Fuji, as seen over a graveyard in the foreground. On the corner of the main road, just below the hotel is a rather scruffy looking Chinese restaurant. It is run by one woman doing all the cooking, washing and clearing up. You sit up at a sort of bar facing the chef. It is brilliant with delicious food, but doesn't run very late so get in early and don't be put off by the rather untidy interior. Cash only; no credit cards.
Cons: The washbasins out side the first floor (Europe definitians) bedrooms only run cold water, OK for doing one's teeth at night, but not for shaving in the morning, for which I had to go down to the ground floor and the shower and bath facility, kneel before the mirror and use the hot water from a shower head.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I really like the steam bath they have in their place. We visited in autumn (Nov) and the hot bath was very soothing. Also, the owners are so kind and good, they gave us a ride to the station and we are ever so grateful for that since we we're really catching up the time. Also, the place is very near lake kawaguchiko. It was just a bit unfortunate for us since when we we're there it was a rainy day, so we didnt see any glimpse of mt. Fuji. Domo arigatou guizaimazu to the owners. I highly recommend this place. I forgot to add. It is a traditional japanese room which we liked very much. And they give free green tea.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner are very kind, the had prepared us the hot water for green tea in every evening whenever we go back to the hotel we will found it in our room. We are appreciated for their kindness for take care us as their family. The location is nearby the Kawaguchiko lake at bus stop no.9 (Red line bus) and also not far from bus station. On the way from the bus station to the place you can find many different local restaurants and minimart. We are do recommend this nice place :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was spacious and clean. We had a pretty view of Mount Fuji from one of our windows. The hotel owners were amazing and wanted us to feel welcome. Their kindness made the trip an unforgettable experience for us.
7.0 Good
Pros: Location is pretty good, tasty breakfast
Cons: Cleanliness.. really, a lot of dust in the room, dirty washing machine, and it smelled like in Senior's house. Also I didn't like the fact that we weren't asked to show documents at all. Not sure if they work legally. And the price... It's just too high for what you get. But looks like that area is not cheap in general.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The spacious of the room and the view of Mount Fuji.
Cons: More than 1 km walking distance from train station.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything is within walking distance and you can choose from two train stations to get further away. The host is super friendly. The room and the whole house feels cozy and has a wonderful smell. The bathroom is very clean. You can heat up food in a microwave if you don't want to eat outside. It was very quiet during my stay and I felt comfortable and relaxed in my room.
Cons: You might wake up early from the sunlight since the curtains don't block all the light. Also there was someone doing fireworks in the morning at 7. I don't know if it is common to do so in Fujiyoshida... however there a worse things than getting up early in such a wonderful city. In the morning you can watch Mt. Fuji "wake up" as the clouds covering the Mountain fade away.
