2.0 Mediocre
Pros: The location was disappointing and rather bleak. Breakfast was not included and there was no food option.
Cons: The accommodation is very dated and felt more like a hostel. The shared facilities are poor., On arrival we were told to remove our shoes which we expected in Japan but not quite so urgently. Then we had our photograph taken. and payment taken, After quite a long journey it would have been nicer to had a more relaxed welcome,
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location on tram line from Hakodate station with very obliging and attentive hosts. A pleasant alternative to standard hotel accommodation.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Authentic Japanese feel, lovely hosts, great location
Cons: Nothing, all good
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The house and room are clean and the hosts are very friendly.
Cons: Nothing so far!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: I didn't try the breakfast, but the facilities in the room and the host's attitude impressed me a lot, the location is also very good, which is close to lots of landmarks there. Last but not least, the host drove us to JR station, that was a surprise. And I remember it rained heavily in the morning, but he drove us safely to the station, much appreciated his help.
Cons: My friend - Cherry left her doll - a very cute Monchhichi which was bought in Okinawa besides the pillow on the bed, what's pity, she emailed to the host, but the feedback was they didn't see this doll. But she did leave this doll on the bed and was willing to bear the delivery cost. Anyway, it was a pity during the trip.

Pros: The location is excellent- within walking distance of the sights of Motomachi, the red brick warehouse district and the Mt Hakodate ropeway. Rooms are large and nicely decorated. Happy Hour each evening gives guests a chance to relax in the cosy lobby with a complementary glass of wine or beer. There is a small Japanese bath bookable on a first come first served basis. The staff are lovely- keen to advise and to help book restaurants. And breakfast is excellent - a wide range of cooked dishes as well as the usual breads, fruit and yoghurt. Our favourite hotel of our trip to Hokkaido.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Has an adorable European feel; the decor was very cute! Pajamas were also provided and each occupant was given a set of toiletries (L'occitane.. etc.) which was great. Staff was very pleasant; bedroom was comfortable and clean. TV also has Hollywood blockbuster movies. Location is also very good; nearby 7-11; walking distance from famous landmarks such as Hakodate Ropeway, Redbrick warehouse shops, Hachimanzaka slope, orthodox churches etc. There is free happy hour from 5-9PM daily but we didn't utilise that as we don't drink. There was also free parking provided. Off-site onsen available via pre-booking but found it a hassle to pre-book. But I guess it was nice the hotel has this collaboration with the onsen.
Cons: Breakfast spread was good but the variety could be improved.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: execellent service
Cons: no washing machine
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Service is excellent!
Cons: nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful facility- every part was traditional Japanese- architecture/food/service, but with every modern amenity. Super-attentive staff. The lobby alone is a monument to Japanese style- it is matched in every part of the hotel. The dining room is on the ground floor-fantastic- with views of the ocean. Kaiseki dinner and breakfast were superb. You will want to take pictures - even before you eat. (And I’m not a millennial who Instagrams his meals). The Japanese bath was well appointed- and divided into two parts, one inside, and one outside. From the outside portion you can hear the surf and relax. A romantic little place surrounded by larger- and probably standard hotels.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Exceptional service from very helpful staff who went out of their way to make our stay a happy and pleasurable experience e.g. programming Japanese SatNav; walking with us to a local restaurant which had no English signage or menu; ensuring that no mistakes were made with the extreme seafood allergy from which one of us suffers. Excellent!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed extra confort. Good for honeymoon.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Love the design and architecture. Rooms are big and view was spectacular. The staff service in particular- Miss Tomoko was outstanding- she made us smile everyday and was superb. We loved the Michelin cookery and healthy food . Onsen was spectacular as well. It’s also a traditional property so our feeling was retro and cool. A must stay at Hakodate
Cons: There was no place to exercise - that would help. I didn’t like that we had to pay for local calls - that was weird. For a 5 star property they should also allow free mineral water instead of 2 bottles a day- it’s hot weather - come on!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This traditional ryokan looks and feels incredible. The room is spacious and comfortable (the beds in particular are amazing) but the real winner here is the superb view of the sea. It's very nice to just sit at the table in front of the window and enjoy the view and sounds of the waves. There is also a tablet provided that allows you to adjust all the lights and curtains, as well as order room service. The location is excellent with a Lawson and ramen restaurants just nearby. We opted for the half-board option and our meals were served in the common dining hall, which also has a great view of the sea. The food was great and staff were attentive and always ready to help. The public onsen is a tad small but is otherwise very nice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We absolutely loved the ocean view! The giant window facing our futons provided a breathtaking morning view of the ocean. What a way to wake up!

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was big, on the 10th floor, we had a great view on the sea. There was a washing machine (could buy soap dose in the hotel, the reception gave us the instructions in English). The onsen was clean, beautiful and authentic, for real Japanese people (incl. TV screen for the news in the sauna!). The service was very good: we had some questions before the stay and got fast and clear answers. Overall the Hotel was great, we were there during low season. If you go there you need to know that you will have a very good stay, but also need to walk to go to touristic places. If you do not like walking, you might be disappointed. We loved it also because in 5 minutes walk we were along the sea (not the touristic area).
Cons: We liked it a lot, with no reserves. However, visitors who want to have everything close and do not like to walk, might be disappointed because it is not in the center of the touristic area.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect. Communication with hotel was good, they acknowledge our special request. Room was big, there is living room, kitchen with stove, microwave, refrigerator, wardrobe room, machine wash and dryer in the room. Safe deposit box. There is public bath, sauna, in ground floor. Sure we will back to this hotel if we visit Hakodate again

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The suit is big & comfort! I love its modern style. Everyday the staff will prepare two pieces of local snacks for you. The breakfast is awesome! I love the in-room onset very much. Top recommendation for Hakodate onsen-love travelers!
Cons: The place is sort of inconvenient for public transportation. However the staff can always help you hail a taxi within minutes
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in the Japanese Modern Suite with Bath and the experience blew us away - the room is extremely spacious and comfortable, and the private onsen is amazing. It's big enough for 3 people to sit comfortably in (though we used it 1 at a time) and it's just an amazing feeling having an onsen all to yourself. We also took the half-board option and the dinner and breakfast were both excellent, with a huge variety of dishes and served as a course meal. Staff were very friendly and could speak some English and were always ready to help.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: There is no big crowd in the hotel and even dining place is exclusive for us . Good experience
Cons: The staff serving food does not explain and breakfast is too slow
6.7 Good
Pros: Spacious room, private onsen, rooftop onsen
Cons: Set breakfast and dinner. It's over priced. I don't like the menu or the way it's cooked. One of the dinning rooms looks like a cell without windows.
7.5 Good
Pros: The room is quite spacious. The view from the onsen is good.
Cons: Location- it is a bit far off from the station
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The onsen and massage chairs. Hotel was very nice too. The suite was beautiful.
Cons: The price for the suite was a bit expensive.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Hotel had no concierge services, poorly staffed reception and most staff were unable to converse in English. The lounge on ground floor overlooked the Japanese Garden which was poorly maintained and so unlike any other Japanese garden we’ve seen. At almost all times, the hotel lobby was empty and the Long Bar devoid of any guest. So the hotel didn’t have any lively feel to it yet we were told it was full! The room ceiling is thin and each night we heard the guests on the floor above running around their bedroom which disrupted our sleep. And the room layout was poor with one step down going out of the room to the entrance area and the toilet and shower rooms and a step up to get into these rooms. Elderly persons and kids could trip easily with the steps and over at least three different types of slippers per person lying around.

4.2 Okay
Pros: View from the hotel of the harbor is nice, but fairly low. Towels were fluffy. The location is okay, depending on where you want to go. It’s closer to the brick area and the ropeway.
Cons: The hotel is quite dated and you’ll feel it as soon as you walk in. The hotel also felt like a ghost town. Hardly anyone was here and we wondered why! The rooms had a very musty aroma and the beds weren’t great. It was incredibly overpriced for what it was and the booking score doesn’t reflect the reality. We spent our two days in Hakodate wishing we had booked elsewhere.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is near the bus stop (for going to and coming from train station). It is a few minutes walk to the brick warehouse, and not too far from the morning market (if you enjoy walking). Our room has the view of the harbour and it is very nice and peaceful.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location was excellent. 5-minute walk from brick warehouse and 10-minute walk from ropeway entrance. You can see a beautiful ocean and lights every night and day from the window. Also it's quite because it's away from other hotels. You won't find noisy group tourists in Winning hotel. Staffs were kind also. You won't have trouble speaking English there. One of the best accommodation during my trip in Hokkaido.
Cons: Far from market and Hakodate station. (But I think they will provide pick-up service)

Pros: The apartment is really beautiful and very big (inside there is all you need). It respects the attenction to detail of Ms. Yokohama (she also prepared for us homemade cake and a juicy melon) and I think this is the best place we have ever stayed in Japan. The hosts are amazingly friendly and they made sure that everything works out ok. In my opinion they embody the courtesy and the japanese "omotenashi". They felt us welcome guests and not simply customers. 本当にありがとう ございまし.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a fantastic experience here in every way! The room is spacious, well-decorated, well-equipped and sparkling clean, and we could tell the endearing couple owners are willing to invest to create a comfortable environment for guests. They were so hospitable and helpful by giving us a warm welcome despite our late night arrival, generously making us matcha cakes and a melon, and calling taxis for our departure. We are so thankful for their hospitality and would certainly love to stay here again during on next visit!

Pros: Guest house Annabel was spectacular amazing! Owner was waiting for us with home made cake and welcome fruit. Location was around 10 minutes from Red brick warehouse. There was free parking at the guest house. The guest house was so lovely and beautiful and super cozy. I would recommend everyone to stay here if they come to Hakodate.
Cons: nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were really lovely and easy to communicate with - sometimes using google translate which worked well. They collected us from the train station and dropped us off again when we left which was really appreciated. The welcome gifts of mochi and some local melon were delicious and very thoughtful. The apartment is on the bottom floor of the house and the hosts stay on the top floor. It is really spacious and has everything needed during your stay. The futon beds were really comfortable and we had some of the best nights sleep during our stay in Japan. The apartment is walking distance to the red brick warehouses and the ropeway up to the mountain, as well as being close to a tram stop that will take you around the rest of the city. We had a great stay here.

Pros: Host was really friendly and the house was really clean. Beds were comfortable. We enjoyed the welcome gift from the host very much. Price was affordable. Only 5 mins walk to the airport express bus station "ベイエリア前(バス )"which costs you 460yen to the airport. It takes about 35 mins to the airport on the bus from there. Great location to the market, warehouse and the ropeway (Hakodate mountain cable).
