5.0 Okay
Pros: The castle looked impressive inside and out with a great deal of character. The staff were very pleasant.
Cons: The room we were given was quite a way from the castle itself and was quite scruffy with torn curtains and damaged furniture and in need of an update. We also had to wait fifty minutes for our cooked breakfast to arrive and they had run out of fruit salad. We did not feel it was value for money.

Pros: The staff were lovely and the food was nice. Good location to kielder.
Cons: The room needs a bit of TLC. We were in the pink room and the ceiling above the shower could do with a paint. The bedside tables and chips in and the room was a bit dim. All easily done and will make the room that bit cosier! Overall lovely stay though.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The vegetarian breakfast was delicious. The pub is located in a beautiful location.
6.0 Good
Pros: This is a lovely pub in a good setting. We have stayed five times now.
Cons: The meals were very average. Lots of food but lacked finesse and presentation. Would have liked the menu to be less boring, perhaps some game options. Seemed thrown on plate, the vegetables were overcooked and not seasonable. Vegetable soup was mush-I did not eat. Pudding had been microwaved.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms, views, delicous breakfast choices, chirpy staff generally cosy bar and fire.
Cons: There was only one vegetarian dinner option and none on New Years Day but gratefully they made me a pasta dish which was delicious.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: very quiet and attractive locale.......
Cons: next door neighbour had audio going until quite late - walls not well soundproofed - fortunately quietened down when i turned lights off
8.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved the quirky nature of the property and the cooking was truly exceptional. I could hug the cook for putting so much effort into each dish. The staff were always there to help out and they were never too far away. A great location to enjoy the surrounding countryside. Bed was lovely... and the shower and bathroom was clean and well laid out. Staff were all lovely... and friendly.
Cons: The sauna was a bit small, however, it was..er.. cosy with me in it. the pool was a nice touch, but you have to cross a courtyard to get to it if you are a man. However, having a pool was a lovely way to refresh before dinner. My one real comment would be - get larger coffee cups, as the poor staff have to keep coming and filling you up! :) The broken tiled floor in the hall (which is a beautiful feature) needs restored - rather than a sign telling you to be careful and a carpet over the hole!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: last minute booking was complteted with no problems staff were on the ball and well organised the whole experience was very good
Cons: nothing to dislike
9.0 Excellent

6.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was very good and hot. A good choice and very tasty. The location is excellent and the clear skies a real bonus. Very good spot for walking. The staff are friendly and relaxed.
Cons: Unfortunately we picked a time to stay when the sauna was been refurbished which did take an edge off for us.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: stunning location, lovey big rooms, excellent breakfast, and wonderful staff
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Slaley Hall is in beautiful surroundings, staff were friendly and helpful. We ate at the Hall on both nights, food was really nice and service was good. I didn’t get the opportunity to try out the spa facilities as the pool was very busy. Overall it was a really pleasant and relaxing weekend.
Cons: The were some minor issues with the room, this being the sliding door on the bathroom, it was noisy and became wedged shut on one occasion. The other was the heater in the room which was very noisy and took a while to heat the room.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing very disappointing
Cons: Whole experience was shockingly bad. Arrived gaggle of smokers outside not a good first impression. We stayed one evening, check in was fine good directions given to facilities and to our room by staff. Headed to the spa on arrival we had to negotiate past the gaggle of beauty therapists gossiping in hall way who made no attempt to let us through. This spa is an absolute joke! Overcapacitate with families and children no separate area for kids. Children allowed to jump off side of pool and rocks literally in guests faces splashing shouting etc, no spa etiquette followed or respected it was not a spa it was a communal swimming pool! Not enough robes and slippers available so was given a small towel for the whole day to use useless. Changing facilities non existent and dirty. Unable to dine in restaurant not warned high volume of guests that weekend made it slim we would actually be able to dine in restaurant on arrival. Later told by receptionist there were 200 guests dining that evening but hadn’t mentioned this originally when asked if we wanted a table. Decor grubby dirty dated. Had to ring off website to complain about noisy neighbours during night as no answer from reception. Won’t be back or recommending to anyone I know.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous location , beautiful accommodation , clean , excellent food. Will definitely be staying again.
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very nice setting.
Cons: Nothing
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The venue was clean and site manager tried to rectify the problems we discussed however was a little too late as our stay was over.
Cons: Bar staff were very abrupt when questioned about the delay in food. Food was ordered and arrived over 2 hrs later, dry and inedible. When arriving at the room all heating had gone off when we phoned reception they sent a sml heater that stopped working within an hr the temp outside was -3 degrees so as you can imagine it was very cold.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Breakfast was good
Cons: Furnishings in bar area tired (torn seats) Carpets in restaurant thread bare Over all decoration looking tired Restaurant food average and not much choice left, only booking we could get was 21:30
4.0 Okay
Pros: Room was lovely and big, bar was nice and restaurant looked great
Cons: Room was freezing cold all night couldn’t get the heating on The food was shocking burger burnt which burnt cheese and pulled pork on top I stayed here 4 weeks ago with friends so came back with my girlfriend and couldn’t be more disappointed felt as if I was at a different place for the standard and quality The spa was more like a leisure centre filled with children running around jumping and splashing was meant to be a relaxing trip away for me and the girlfriend would’ve been great to have been told to expect that because 4 weeks ago when I was there it was quiet relaxed not a child in site I was told on the phone that I would be fine to book the massages on arrival but when I arrived I was told my a member of staff it would be fine for an appointment then by another that it wasn’t as they were fully booked much to the disappointment of my girlfriend and to my who was really hoping she could get what she wanted after a stressful few weeks that she has had

7.5 Good
Pros: Love the location. We like to walk into Hexham from the hotel, just over 3 miles approx. Lovely reception are, bar etc.
Cons: The bathroom needs an update. Shower fab but black mould around some of the tiles and silicone. Nothing a splash of bleach wouldn’t put right! Bedroom walls need repainting.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The pool
Cons: The steps.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We liked the plentiful parking, close to the bedrooms entrance. We liked the young lady on the reception who gave us exact directions the place when we phoned her and supplied us with a hair drier. The evening snacks were huge , tasty portions. Comfortable bed. The swimming pool was fantastic, warm and large.
Cons: The Sauna and hot pool could have been working but the swimming pool was very warm and huge! The rest was good. No problems to our stay.
6.0 Good
Pros: Location very good but the postcode took me away from the Hotel. The location next to the river was excellent. Evening meal and breakfast were goo. Staff excellent.
Cons: The radiator thermostat in my room was faulty; the bathroom was below standard in terms of its upkeep with cistern handle loose and the panel at the back of the toilet bodged after a repair, but it was clean. Also my bedroom was a long way from Reception and the corridor carpets were rather worn.
