Pros: The room was reasonably priced after the off-season discount of 30%. The property is well-designed, and the thermal pools are nice. Tour desk staff was very friendly and helpful.
Cons: The restaurants are over-priced. WiFi only in the common areas. Can be noisy if somebody is staying in the adjoining room.

Pros: The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and extremely polite and helpful in all the areas in which we interacted. The grounds were various pools and the restaurants were all just wonderful. Thank you very much for a delightful stay. I would definitely come back and recommend this lovely resort to friends and family!
Cons: I loved all of it!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is so beautiful, surrounded by nature and the Arenal volcano is right in front of you. The service was great, everyone was so nice and warm. The place is super clean. The hot pools are so great that we couldn't get out of them. The bars in the water are awesome! The only thing that was missing for me was more vegan options in breakfast and some nondairy milk for all of us, but as soon as I asked, they went out and bought me some at the shop. They also added to our breakfast every morning veggies and avocado per our request. Also, my daughter had her 12th birthday while we were there so I asked for a small cake to surprise her in the room. When we came back to the room after traveling all day, we saw that they have decorated the room so nice for her birthday! she was so happy and surprised. After a few minutes. Someone came with a small Bday cake and a candle- this was so nice! I defiantly recommend this hotel! We have such amazing memories from our stay. Thank you, guys!

Pros: Resort overall was nicely, staff helpful and courteous at front and helping to rooms. Room service was fast
Cons: Pools a little too hot, kids didn't like bartenders serves. I also thought it was a little slow.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Little gardens in the bathrooms and hot springs around the pool.
Cons: Some cow poops in front of our rooms when we just came there.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Hot springs facilities are excellent, lovely rooms and hotel layout
10.0 Excellent
Pros: They made every effort to make us feel comfortable and even upgraded our room/bungalow. The thermal waters felt great and our bartender made every effort to please us. Breakfast was simple, but appetizing. I wished we had stayed here more time. Thank you!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The property was peaceful and beautifully kept. Room was nice and comfortable.the staff was professional, helpful and knowledgeable. Breakfast was good. We loved the fresh fruit and the huevos rancheros- other items also good but would have liked just a bit more variety - some sort of meat side option would be good.
Cons: Having to give coupons to retrieve pool towels wasn’t always convenient- we went to the pool one night after the bar was closed and therefore didn’t have towels. I appreciate the desire to limit excessive towel use but would have been better to just provide pool towels in the room. More shelf or drawer space would be good in the room to unpack.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Basically Everything
Cons: There was no gym facility!!! Hopefully on my return there will be one
5.4 Okay
Pros: Hot springs.
Cons: The hot water faucet did not work well, there was a string to hang clothing in the shower which was moldy, the jacuzzi tub room smelled of mildew and glue (due to being repaired that morning).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was amazing. The free breakfast was very nice with both typical American and Tico fare. They gave us a free facial for staying 2 nights. I also got a great massage. The Spa is beautiful and tranquil. The hot springs were fantastic and unbelievably uncrowded. The staff were super friendly and helpful.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The food was excellent, the facilities are perfect, and the staff was exceptional. The view of Arenal was inspiring, and the hot springs were wonderful. If I can afford it, I will definitely be back.
Cons: It was expensive. Only because of it being our anniversary did we spend so much. Also the hot springs were good enough that we could have saved our money and not done Eco Termales. There's really nothing not to like.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The service, the vegetation, the animals, breakfast, thermal waters...everything actually
Cons: Maybe a bit pricey but I guess that is the average at this time a season
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Whole family loved staying here. Nice houses, lovely staff. Relaxing at the warm thermal pools was wonderful. Kids really enjoied the farm and the animals and the really nice staff there who let them try to milk cows, feed the hens etc
10.0 Excellent
Pros: his property consists of 24 individual cabanas located in beautiful gardens. Our cabana was very spacious with high sloped ceiling adding to the sense of space. It had the most superbly comfortable bed and small fridge, coffee maker, two sitting chairs and lots of hanging and shelf space for your clothes. The shower was large (but not very strong...not sure if the problem was the water pressure or shower head). There were lots of lights and electric plugs and the unit was completed by a terrace with table and chairs. There was a swimming pool and a separate area containing the hot pools (including a jacuzzi and cold pool). The pools are of varying sizes and temperature and set in more beautiful gardens. There are various outdoor areas to sit in and also a bar serving drinks and food. There is a further separate Spa area for a variety of spa treatments....again set in beautiful gardens. Finally there is a small farmyard with miniature horses, donkeys, cows, chickens etc and an wonderful organic vegetable garden...both supplying produce to the restaurant kitchen. Breakfast consisted of fruit, juices, coffee, yoghurt, cereal in addition to a small menu of cooked options. The big bonus was watching a huge variety of birds at breakfast....with fruit placed on a couple of trees by the restaurant. Also lots of other birds etc throughout the garden....very special. We took an Uber to several nearby restaurants (Red Frog was great...thanks Roy) and La Fortuna as it was quite a dark road to walk at night. The service was friendly, efficient and helpful....thanks Steven in the restaurant for bird info and Maria (Reception). We stayed six nights here in a romantic villa...a special place. We thought it was quite expensive for us (though anything good in Arenal is expensive....but it was worth it. Highly recommended!!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Rooms, facilities
Cons: Price of breakfast
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Had a wonderful stay. Great location to explore the rain forest of Costa Rica. Had a wonderful room with beautiful views. Fabulous bathroom with huge Jacuzzi tub and separate shower. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Great to come back to the resort after hiking, zip-lining and ATV-ing and relax at the hot springs. Will definitely return.
Cons: Breakfast was very expensive. Buffet was $25++. The bill was $125.00 for our family of 4. We shopped in town and had breakfast in the room. Was still enjoyable. There was a fridge, coffee. Would be nice to have options for breakfast.
9.6 Excellent
Cons: Food options are limited and expensive.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Loved the place: the hotel and the spa were amazing. The spa is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. The staff was always very and helpful. The food at the pool bar was really yummy and they made amazing cocktails especially piña coladas (in a fresh pineapple)
Cons: We weren’t very satisfied with the restaurant of the hotel.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: There was an excellent spread of food. Many healthy choices. And everything tasted delicious
Cons: There are not many restaurants near the hotel. The restaurants in the hotel are expensive. There’s not many options to eat near the hotel.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: The hot springs make it worth the price. We stayed for one night, but enjoyed two days on the hot springs and pools. We absolutely loved it and recommend it.
Cons: Do not expect great food. Both breakfast and dinner were highly overpriced for the quality. Dinner was so disappointing, we spent about $100 for two entrees, one appetizer and two beers, but the ribeye was could barely edible, and the special nothing to brag about. They also offer a buffet by the pool for $39/person, which we didn't try. Breakfast for $25/person was also a rip off considering I only enjoyed the fruits and yogurt. The rest of the buffet was not great, so I barely touched it. They need to invest in better food in my opinion...
9.6 Excellent
Pros: What is not to like about Tabacon resort. It is nice, people are so friendly that it hurts, it is a true 5 star hotel and you can not say anything. We were there 2 nightys, upgraded to suite for 40 USD per day extra (I wouldnt do that again). You dont really need bathtub in bathroom and terace was... well.... you cant smoke there so, again, not much use. Breakfast was as it should be, rich and tasty, tho sparkling water is extra and you should pay for it, which is, when u have only 3 tipes of drinks... just sad. In this rate the sparkling water or some other drinks would be great. In lot of 5 star hotels you even get unlimited sparkling wine... And, its not really cheap, I might add. And the pools are... oh my god, heaven on earth just got new name! It is a must do when in costa rica.
Cons: We had a set down in restaurant, more of a “all you can eat type”. Not worth 40 USD per person. It was good. Thats it. It should have been superb. The hotel and all resort set standards so high... so this restaurant is not reaching tabacon standards! (Thats why is 9,6 and not 10). But, it you dont have your own car and you dont wanna spend fortune in other restaurant, I guess this is only option... Sadly
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Thermal facilities
Cons: Staff not extremely courteous at bars and restaurants
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect. Best service and facilities! Amazing!
Cons: The breakfast is expensive
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is an amazing hotel, an incredible experience, a superb resort. No superlative is exaggeration. Every aspect of the resort is a state of the art - the personnel, the service, the maintenance, the cleanliness, the quality of each and every detail, the rooms, the surrounding, the amenities, the pools, the springs, etc. etc. etc... Heaven on earth
Cons: This resort stands to the highest level of perfection. Complete satisfaction!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The surroundings were beautiful with the volcano as the backdrop. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Shuttle service to spa and springs was very timely.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Ultra luxury accommodations if u choose the Rainforest room. What makes this place extra special is the Shangri-La, the exclusive hotel guests only portion of the thermal spa. Can't wait to go there again!

Cons: Dinner menu may be a little limited for some
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent hotel, with wonderful staff and clean. Very relaxing with multiple pools of different temperature water. Rooms were spacious and very clean. You definitely need a car if you want to visit the attractions in the area, though Uber worked well for us and was far less expensive than taxis.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable and luxury rooms, great volcano views.
Cons: Food at rhe bar a little pricey
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location, very customer-centric, convenient to fun activities, interesting tours, and good restaurants
Cons: Breakfast and coffee not available until 6:30. Activities have early start times so breakfast at least by 6 would be better
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect stay, comfortable room, delicious food, out-of-this-world hot springs and outstanding service. Highly recommend it!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: From the moment we walked in, we were impressed with the professionalism of the staff and the pride they took in their work. Every person we interacted with seemed personally invested in making our stay great - and it was! All of the spa facilities and hot springs were immaculately clean and well-maintained (and I tried alllll of them!). The food was excellent too, but it's hard to be unhappy about anything when you can have a nightcap and ceviche at a swim-up bar in December! We also took advantage of their on-site tour coordinator and had some of the best experiences of our whole trip while staying here.
Cons: I always try to give some constructive feedback, but honestly everything about this place was fantastic.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent staff. Good food. Nice spa and thermal waters. Nothing to complain about. Significantly above the kind of phony nice service in Costa Rica.
Cons: Needs a larger fitness room. No shop for drinks, candy, etc.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good sized room with small balcony Lovely view of volcano Good thermal pools and excellent pool bar service Excellent omelette chef
Cons: Too far from other restaurants but Uber works Food rather bland Irratic breakfast service Disappointing style by one receptionist
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff and nice thermal pools with good food
Cons: Was a taxi journey into town, food options could have been better

10.0 Excellent
Pros: A lot of hot springs, we never had to share them with others. Absolutely fantastic staff. Very helpful, always smiley and nice. Family friendly hotel (safe balcony, kids menu, free cribs, play room)
Cons: Rain ;) was raining quiet much during our stay but its actually doesn’t matter when you are spending time in hot springs or tubing in a river.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is heaven on Earth. Impecable.
Cons: I should have stayed for one more week!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was amazing. Staff were friendly and helpful. The spa was also great.
Cons: The food was really expensive and bland. Needs significant improvement
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was amazing - wonderful views, fab room, food was good and facilities were excellent.
Cons: Liked it all
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The views of the volcano are incredible! The property has amazing vistas and beautiful pools everywhere. It was one of the nicest places I've ever stayed in terms of location, views, and staff. The rooms were expansive and incredibly clean, the views from the hotel room were unreal, and you could hear howler monkeys every night! The drinks were so yummy and the staff were all so friendly and accommodating. I really enjoyed our stay overall!
Cons: For the price, the food was really hit or miss and when it missed it was really bad. Granted, I ordered a pizza, but when you have 6 pizzas on the menu you would think they would be decent. It wasn't even cooked and was frankly inedible. The other food was also mediocre given the price. I wish I had picked up some food in town, but we were a bit stuck at the resort. The excursions were far more expensive if you booked directly with the hotel, and incurred an additional fee not listed in the advertised price, but staff told you about it when you went to book (but at that point you have basically committed). I would recommend booking directly with the tours outside of the resort because it was just too expensive otherwise. The night tour at Club Rio was overcrowded and was not pleasant at all. The guide was lovely and knowledgable, but having around 17 people with many children on a night tour was chaotic and not at all tranquil. Additionally, the tubing excursion at Club Rio was around $50 USD for a 15-minute ride down the river. It was not worth the money. I had a much more pleasant time on excursions outside of the resort. I also wish they would get rid of the straws in every drink and should not let guests leave AC on all day (other hotels had a key card you needed to put in a slot to be able to turn lights and AC on). I thought it was an eco-friendly resort, but perhaps I'm mistaken.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We really enjoyed our stay in The Springs Resort. Our room was upgraded on arrival which was a nice surprise, we got an amazing two-levels room overlooking the volcano. The grounds of the hotel are kept very well, the common areas are very clean and well maintained. We did not have any issues with mosquito bites while on the hotel grounds. We loved having breakfast outdoor looking at the Arenal volcano. Staff were consistently welcoming and polite and happy to help with any requests. We enjoyed a few great activities organised by the hotel, we recommend the horse riding tour as well as the guided river tour on a raft. Plenty of outdoor activities meant plenty of dirty clothes so we were very pleased with the guests laundry room. The concierge desk offered great help and advice and on the one occasion we were not pleased with the night jungle tour which had been oversubscribed they refunded the charge of their own initiative.
Cons: Food offering throughout the restaurants was not adequate, but this did not spoil our stay. It would have been easy to get to the nearby town La Fortuna and try some local restaurants but we loved the hotel so much we did not venture out for dinner.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place was incredible. We really enjoyed our stay. The staff seemed genuinely nice. They were welcoming and friendly, more than any place we've stayed before. That in and of itself was value in our trip. Very relaxing and beautiful. I would say the photos do not do justice to this place, it was much better than I thought it would be.
Cons: The zoo wasn't that incredible.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Good breakbast. Room with great view to the Arenal Vulcan, clean and comfortable. Staff is great. Pools are great.
Cons: The gym is very well equiped, HOWEVER surprisingly the gym's floor is covered by carpet. therefore it has a mold smell. Please remove it! The breakfast buffet is expensive.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great place to stay beautiful room and great view. Staff were very friendly. 20 minutes into town.
Cons: Drinks were over priced.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Series of thermal pools, lush greeneries, nature trail, local tours offered, food at the restaurant.
Cons: No complimentary shuttle to town.
7.0 Good
Pros: The facilities are great.
Cons: Our experience at the check in was not good. The staff didn't treat us with courtesy and tried to get rid of us as soon as possible. This comment applies just to the staff that checked us in. All the others were really nice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Exceeded all expectations
Cons: No

A shuttle from the airport to the hotel is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were all great and very helpful. Very warm and friendly family business. Offered to personally drive us to a nearby restaurant as they didn't want us walking in the dark. Laundry service inexpensive and done in 2 hours, which was great as we were travelling for a month.
Cons: Beds creaked whenever you moved, which kept us awake. Breakfast is only served at 7:00. This was a problem when we had tours departing around that time as there are no nearby restaurants.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent. Fresh fruit, juice, full American or Costa Rican breakfast in the wonderful Gingers restaurant. We also had fabulous dinners at Gingers restaurant although there were other restaurants very close by. Walked down the jungle trail to the fast flowing river, beautifully maintained gardens, fun little Tiki bar on the property and close to everything. Our little casitas bungalow had private front porch and back porch with a hammock we made use of after hiking. Sparkling clean bathroom with hairdryer. TV, wifi. Quiet, private and safe. Very helpful staff. Free hot springs entrance to Thermal Arenal! Everything for such a reasonable .
Cons: Disliked · Only thing I can think of is no swimming pool but would not have had time to visit it! The huge waterfall is 2 km up the road where you can swim.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Convenient location for La Fortuna town, waterfall, chocolate tour, hanging bridges, volcano and lake. Food was very good and the outdoor bar is a nice spot to have a pre dinner drink. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Great rooms to sit and watch hummingbirds in action. Also saw lots of other beautiful birds in the hotel grounds.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast and wildlife!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The lodges are very spacious and have an amazing view on the rain forest - staff was helpful, laundry is very fast and bar is fantastic for a drink
Cons: Without a car you need to take a taxi as it is more than 35min of walking without a real pedestrian walkway. During high season it was super hard to get a taxi - one time no one appeared even after more than half an hour!!! Keep that in mind
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is a must! There are so many choices of stay in La Fortuna, but this place really takes the time to make your stay worth it! Kind and caring staff that work great with vacationers. Helpful and they really tend to anything you need. Front office people were amazing! 5 stars!
9.4 Excellent
Pros: The cabin was awesome.
Cons: More air conditioning needed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I would definitely stay here again! Minutes from town and minutes from la Fortuna waterfall. The staff was amazing and so helpful! Needless to say we rented the villa and it was amazing!!

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff. Great pool and garden.
Cons: Rooms 3 to 6 have thin walls and depending on your neighbours can be noisy at times.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: As part of our Costa Rican adventure in Mid-December 2019, we stayed 3 nights at Roca Negra with our 14 old daughter. The staff - Elizabeth and Stephanie were most helpful and friendly, from the quick check in to the end of our stay. They arranged some amazing adventures for us. The hotel was Immaculately clean, rooms cleaned daily with attention to detail. Our room (4, I believe) was spacious, equipped with everything you would need - fridge, safe, storage, TV, WiFi and beautiful bathroom with shampoos and hairdryer. The room was facing the Arenal volcano, had a patio area and we enjoyed watching the different birds, incl hummingbirds. Toucans are regular visitors and the gardens are lush and fantastically maintained. Clearly, there is a lot of though given by the owners to provide visitors with personalised attentions, comfort and everything required - from towels for the swimming pool/ warm jacuzzi to the free fresh eggs every morning (plus free local coffee and various tea choices) in the very well equipped and clean kitchen. Excellent location, with supermarket and number of restaurants near by. The hotel is very secure and quiet although close to the main road. Hotel Roca Negra Del Arenal and it’s staff are fantastic! Thank you Stephanie and Elizabeth for making our trip so special and memorable! Pura Vida!

Pros: Beautiful gardens, great fresh eggs, appreciated the kitchen.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful gardens. Super clean. Very friendly and accommodating staff.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: We were a family requiring 2 rooms. They are large and spacious and the comfortable chairs on the outside terrace were great! We were overjoyed to see a Toucan perch on our car rack! The gardens are teeming with beautiful birds and orchids...we cooked our own breakfast in the well equipped kitchen with eggs from the chickens who live on site. This is a wonderful little Gem
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful grounds and friendly staff
Cons: Kitchen well equipped but would have been helpful to have a few more staples available..milk butter

Overview Reviews
Arenal Manoa Hotel is a beautiful place to rest, relax and enjoy the marvelous view of Arenal Volcano. Surrounded by gardens, pastures and animals, our rooms have been designed so that each one offers you a panoramic view of the volcano. Our visitors can take advantage of ourspacious gardens for walking and meditation as well as the opportunities to see the daily operations of a typical Costa Rican farm.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff, an overall lovely and well maintained property.
Cons: The staff let the kids go crazy in the thermal spa and bar area..... lots of French fries in the water and balls splashing water into the drinks. Ruined the atmosphere of the thermal spa and our drinks. Bathrooms could really use a fan to help get rid of the humidity after showering.
6.0 Good
Cons: The hotel is certainly not living up to expectations for a plus 350 dollar/night stay. The room walls were not isolated and we could hear all the conversations of our neighbours. Wifi did not work for the entire stay. The breakfast, which had to be paid on top, was chaotic, scarce and not tasty. Personnel was not very helpful and did not respond well to our inquiries / challenges.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is located perfectly, in the middle of the main attractions. We loved that basically each room was completely private, surrounded by luxurious vegetation. Everything in the room and on the property is natural, very little plastic and nothing looks cheap. The hot springs are awesome and one could relax there after a day of exploration. The property is maintained extremely well, it is spot clean, staff is extremely friendly. We got complememtary fresh fruits platter 2 days in a row. The coffee in the room is awesome. If you need something and you call front desk they will send what you need in less than 5 minutes. The restaurant is really great, fine dining in the area. Fresh food for all meals with basically everything natural. Another reviewer called this property "a hidden gen" and I completely agree. The pictures on most of the websites don't do real justice to the place.
Cons: They did not have a gym.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Value. Cleanliness.
Cons: Room is small
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful resort. Tranquil setting. spacious room with wonderful view of Arenal volcano. Attentive staff. Very good food.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Amazing volcano view, close to Parque Nacional Volcán Arenal, Arenal 1968 and many other attractions. Excellent staff service, good wifi and good food. Very quiet and relaxing. Parking right in front of the guest house.
Cons: I doubt the so-called hot spring is just a swimming pool with warm water, the water doesn’t seem/smell like hot spring water.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful, off main road. Quiet. Great breakfast Buffett and dinner options
Cons: Charge for everything. Free water in room would have been nice. Shuttle into town cost 15 one way!! Complimentary shuttle would have been nice. Mattress very hard
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the hotel! Too bad we only stayed one night because they were booked. The photos in the internet does no justice. The staff was very nice and everything was very clean. The room was large and it felt like a luxury hotel. The garden was very pretty and very well kept. The view of the volcano was beautiful. My daughter and her husband got a massage at the spa and they said the setting was beautiful in the lush gardens next to a river. The hot spring pool are drained and new water is put in in the morning. Loved everything about the hotel. Only regret is that we didn't stay there more days. We went the next day to another hotel that was more expensive and was not as nice.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I cannot say enough about our stay at the Volcano Lodge and Springs. We booked it because the rainy season rates were hard to pass up and because 95% of previous guests rated it Excellent. The room rates were so low that I wondered if the ratings could be true...but I have never had more good things to share about a hotel experience! We stayed in a superior room with an amazing view of Arenal from our porch. The property is designed so that the view from your patio makes you feel like you are at a private villa. All we saw before us was Arenal and lush vegetation. There were people next to us but we never saw or heard them. You couldn't even see where the cars were parked. It was almost total solitude. The room was attractive and clean. The beds were comfortable. The shower was always warm. Our room was only a short walk from the main pool and mineral springs which was a pleasant surprise. Others will have to walk further but the grounds are so nice that the walk is like a stroll in a garden. I read some reviews that the breakfast was adequate but nothing special. I have no idea what they were talking about! To me it was a wonderful daily brunch. We stayed 4 nights and looked forward to each morning. Most food items stayed the same but how can you complain about having fresh bananas, pineapple, papaya, and watermelon, three different breads for toasting, pancakes, scrambled eggs, rice and beans, sweet plantains, lunch meat and cheese, a waffle station and made to order egg station with 6 toppings for omelets, OJ and Mango / Banana juice, and coffee to pick from? There were also two breakfast breads each day that varied and one or two different Costa Rican hot items each day that included small sausages, chicken or sausages in a creamy tomato sauce, and several types of what they called "hash"…potato based one time and green bean based another. To top it off, the restaurant has a great view of Arenal and the pool / mineral springs area and an attentive and cheerful staff. They even attached their old bananas to a nearby tree each morning to attract birds! The pool was clean and the mineral springs area very relaxing. They just added a second hot springs and bar. The grounds are filled with beautiful plants and fruit trees with a running / walking nature trail that they are just getting going. It was a bit confusing but we loved it…especially watching the intricate world of leaf cutting ants! Bottom line...you will love this place!

Pros: Great pool, amazing staff, very clean. Good location.
Cons: Wifi was weak if some places, but not a big deal!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly, the thermal pools were great and we were really pleased with the onsite restaurant. We had breakfast, lunch & dinner there during our stay and all were excellent!!

Pros: Staff were friendly and accommodating. Great cocktails and wonderful facilities
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We spent five days here for a relaxing break in our travels around Costa Rica. Every detail was attended to a this hotel... the hot springs are marvelous. The service was fantastic, every inch of the resort is groomed. The pools are also very clean and large enough for swimming short laps. We ate out in La Fortuna a few times but found that the food at the hotel was better and reasonably priced. No real reason to eat out... breakfast buffet is extensive and delicious! For the reasonable price of the hotel, we felt this was a fantastic deal. We were pampered and impressed!
Cons: Well it rained heavily for most of our stay, but that didn't stop us from loving the hot springs. Nothing quite like soaking in steamy waterfalls with rain falling all around.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A fantastic hotel great if traveling with a baby. The thermal pools are all around the resort so you feel like you have your own the staff was great the rooms are spacey and the town is just beside it was a great place for us.
Cons: The walls are thin we had loud neighbors so we could hear their conversations to full extent.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was outstanding. The place itself is very taken care of and has some really cool details like a trail around the property for jogging through the jungle or the way they place fruit on trees just outside the restaurant so birds come down to eat. The thermals are amazing. The staff is top notch in friendliness, helpfulness and they take special care in training them on the activities you can do in the town outside the hotel; they could all explain perfectly on what the tours consisted on and what you can really expect from them, without overselling them. Also, the photos posted here on the site DO NOT DO JUSTICE TO THE PLACE. The facilities are a million times better than what the photos show.
Cons: A bit annoying that all prices are stated in USD rather than local currency, which makes it difficult to know if you're getting a good exchange rate. Even if you pay in local currency you will be charged in USD (except for cash payments, obviously).
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Peaceful, great breakfast, clean. Lots of pool and jacuzzi options, and the small ones were almost always empty.
Cons: Lots of road noise (engine braking), at least from our room. Didn't notice from other areas on the property.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotsprings, rooms and food was amazing! Best location to travel around Arsenal.
Cons: Honestly I can’t come up with anything that needed improvement. Fantastic!

Pros: Nothings
Cons: The restaurant
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is a natural park. The room with the private pool is wonderful. The breakfast is complete and of high quality.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is set in stunning scenery and the grounds are fantastic it has been very well thought through. Very friendly helpful staff and easy to find. They served some delicious cocktails and they were always made to perfection! I'd recommend this hotel to anyone.
Cons: The only thing that let it down was That the food wasn't really that great. We had different steaks both nights and both times they were over cooked and tough. The breakfast is a buffet and again could just use a bit more attention.

Pros: The view ( and it was really foggy) The lady at the reception was so nice
Cons: The room are big but really cold and a little bit dirty, they say they have the spa but they only have a pool outside and there is always rainy and cold for us it, the street for arrive up to the hotel is really nice but not clean and a little bit difficult to made un the night with no light, we found a tree on the way back from our dinner, we found the way to pass by and when we arrive at the reception and tell them that about it they say us “it is not on our property, this is not our problem” totally creazy.. for me the price is absolutely to much for the location and the service NOT RACCOMANDED.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The lodge is in a beautiful area. There are tons of walking trails and animals that come visit. It’s a great deal for the amenities. Definitely stay here if you love being in nature.
Cons: We had ants in our room everyday and they even got into my vitamins (which were gummies). I would suggest you don’t pack those if you are staying here and also be careful with bringing food or anything ants might like. Also, be aware that the location is high up in the mountain and it gets dark at night. This really wasn’t a downside for us, but we tried to be back at the hotel around sunset to avoid any accidents on the road.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing place. Very delicious food. Friendly staff. Everything was perfect.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The grounds were amazing and we loved that we had access to the National Park trails. The Jacuzzi was a nice treat after a long day of hiking. The views were breath-taking! Access to other activities was relatively easy but the roads are not great. Town was about a 30 minute drive away. Nice breakfast buffet provided free of charge!
Cons: It would be nice to have screens on the front doors as well so you could have both the patio door (which had a screen) and front door open to allow a cross-breeze. The room became a bit stuffy and buggy during the day without this. Also it would be good if t pool was heated to allow swimming year round. The prices for food at the restaurant were expensive. The Happy Hour (2 for 1) would be better if they allowed for 2 different drinks vs. 2 of the same kind of drink. Finally a shuttle to town that ran even just 3 times a day would be a great perk!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved having so many hikes/walks to do right on the property and a very good restaurant as well. It was so nice having nature and animals outside our door each day. The staff was warm, welcoming, helpful and friendly. There were plenty of activities to do on the grounds for all ages: pool, foosball/game room, checkers, books, TVs in the main buildings and a hot tub.
Cons: Be aware that the Lodge is a 20-25 minute drive from La Fortuna up a somewhat rough dirt road. If you have your own vehicle it's easy to get to and from, but without a bit more challenging. There are taxis that cost $30 each way or a shuttle 3x/day from the lodge.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The trails and waterfall.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gourmet restaurant, surrounded by incredible rainforest growth. Every room has a view. Full range of hiking opportunities. Outstanding pool and hot tub set into a wilderness forest setting and so much more
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful views of Arenal Volcano. We did the morning hike which was included in the booking. The guide, Christian, was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We even booked him for a lava hike. It was super!
Cons: Not much.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view from our room was amazing. The jacuzzi and pool were great. They surprised us with treats for our honeymoon. We had a great time walking the trails and looking for wildlife. I'm glad we decided to spend a couple nights here!
Cons: The on-site restaurant was expensive.
9.4 Excellent
Cons: Prices or food were a bit expensive...we had a car so we drove to La Fortuna
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, views and surroundings were fabulous. Staff were ultra helpful.
Cons: It would have been helpful to have a small desk and chair in the room for using computer. Morning nature walk was a bit disappointing, as guide only occasionally stopped to point something out. Food was only fair.

Pros: Very friendly staff. Wonderful views. Hot tub with candles was very romantic. Great bathrooms. Very comfy mattress. Breakfast was nice.
Cons: Room 405 was moldy. The wall behind the bed had significant mold on it. It was so bad that it made breathing difficult. I took a picture and showed the front desk. They readily changed ya to room 514 which was terrific. You should clean 405.

Pros: The breakfast is very good with many many options. The hotel installations and gardens are excellent. The room is very comfortable and the bathroom is big. The hotel is outside the city center but very nearby.

Pros: David and his family were great hosts. The hotel is well maintained. The rooms are clean and the pool is serviced regularly. It's a good location, about 1 mi out of the city center, but with multiple restaurants and a super market nearby. The Red Frog Coffee shop (little yellow building next door) is a great place; try the empanada. They also offer use of a communal kitchen that has the necessary cooking tools. David can also help you book taxis, tours and transfers.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: José (I hope I got his name right) was absolutely charming and very helpful. Very knowledgable about the area and was able to arrange any combination of things for us. Breakfast was very nice and beautiful setting.
Cons: The price was a little overinflated for the value that we got.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: Gabby, the owner was great, very friendly and always helpful. the 2 cafes in the front were excellent and we ate there everyday. It's an easy walk to the beach and restaurants. Bank with ATM is across the street. So, all in all, very convenient and good value for the money.
Cons: there is a club on the other side of the the street that played very loud music on friday and saturday until at least 3pm. Sounded like it was in the hotel! Not good!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was very good. Our room was clean and beds were comfortable. Stuff was very helpful. The real jewel of the hotel was its owner. She was very helpful with all accommodations and I just liked talking to her. It felt like you talk to an old friend. Definitely will recommend this hotel.

Pros: The continental breakfast every morning was amazing!

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff at the swim up bar was very nice and energetic. Had a great time hanging out there.
Cons: Staff was much more helpful in reception the last time I stayed here. Seemed to be in a hurry to check us in rather than explain what there was to offer.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: I loved the hot springs- really good to have access to them included in the price which made it good value. The gardens at the hotel were beautiful and lots of birds, lizards and butterflies to see. There are stables on site and a great ride up to the observation point. Horses well kept and cared for. The shower was really good - best I found on holiday. Big choice for breakfast and good quality.
Cons: Staff not as friendly or helpful as other hotels I stayed at but this is a big hotel I suppose. It would be much better to have Wi-fi available in rooms rather than just communal buildings. I was in a basic room and just two beds a long side board and a wardrobe. The only chair was on the veranda outside the room which other guests walked past to get to their rooms. One bed was good other really old and lumpy. Safe old and had to get an engineer to help me open it.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Free shuttle within the facility
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Can't say enough about this resort. After being at a lesser resort early in the week, this place was that much more amazing and cheaper! Our room was very up to date and beautiful. I think it was 120 and it was on the same level as the amenities. Some people up the hill might not have found it as convenient but we were super close to the pools etc. The mattresses and linens were 4 star hotel quality. The tile walk in shower in the bathroom was huge. The water pressure was fantastic. The room was larger than a standard hotel room. The many hot springs were fun. The breakfast buffet was varied and tasty. Definitely a top notch resort. My favorite thing is the observatory at the top looking at the volcano. I got up for two sunrises up there and it was amazing. Saw some wild boar and toucans on my short drive up there. If you go past the observatory even higher there's an abandoned church ruin with great views. The garden was cool with separate butterfly garden, turtles and a crocodile. I didn't get see the animals in the petting zoo part. Sorry I can't turn my pics the right way.
Cons: I was a little freaked out by no lifeguards and kids running and horse playing around the pools but I guess different cultures handle things differently. The slides are really fast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast is excellent and the restaurant for dinner is excellent. The mineral and cold pools are wonderful. Great for families as there are several shallow warm pools. There is a shuttle bus every 20 minutes for the rooms that are up the hill
Cons: I had booked a room with 2 double beds, several months before arrival. They gave me a room with 1 double bed and a single. We got another room with 2 double beds, but no coffee maker and it was like the room was new and not finished with furniture
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Pools and slides, plus the amazing volcano view!
Cons: Rooms were simple - could have been slightly updated. But very comfortable.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: The hotel property was tropically lush, well maintained and beautiful. They had a butterfly enclosure, a rare red frog enclosure, water, crocodiles and nice paved walkways. Wonderful view of the Arenol volcano. Our room was very large with a big closet and bath. It also had a front and back door with beautiful views for morning coffee. Breakfast buffet was good with a big variety of items and nice patio to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Cons: The beds were extremely hard, I had to lay out all my pillows and sleep on them.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Pools, breakfast, tours
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice place. Good privacy even in shared houses with private verandas. Lots of pools and other stuff to do. Great breakfast. Restaurant doesn't do takeout and pool bar, which does, was very slow, though otherwise ok. And technically they ban food from the outside. So with a small baby going to sleep early, dinner was a problem. Thankfully there are minifridges (no microwaves or coffee pots, though) and no one enforces the ban. Also water slides, while fun, are a bit dangerous - the pools are too shallow for them to be used by adults without bruising an elbow or back
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great views of the valley and the mountains We could see and hear several different varieties of birds sitting in our balcony Decent breakfast in the morning Helpful staff
Cons: $50/night for kids. Most hotels don't have extra charge for kids, the one's that have are $10-$25.. $50 is a bit too much, especially with no information upfront Registration Staff was very helpful, but did not have a lot of information outside of Monteverde. Ordering anything to the room would take a long time to get. Concierge/Travel Desk was under-staffed. One of the person at the desk was rude and not eager to help. Other person was very helpful.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Hot springs and garden were absolutely beautiful! Breakfast buffet was delicious and plenty.
Cons: No wifi in the rooms and no flexibility in refund when my flight was delayed.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: View of volcano was beautiful. The thermal springs were relaxing. We had a good time.
Cons: Some of the prices were hiked up. They made a mistake with our billing, so pay attention when checking out.

Pros: The included buffet was amazing! Excellent food; probably the best I’ve had in a long time at a hotel in Costa Rica over my travels across the Costa Rica pacific, northern and Caribbean coast! The many spa pools and even the slides were incredible!!!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hot tubs, the landscaping, and just the outdoor area in general was awesome.
Cons: I wish there had been a shuttle service to take guests to local attractions
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Personnel was very nice and helpful
Cons: Didn't like the hotel at all, it's so overpriced. Room was smelling very bad Cleaning of room was kinda late Rooms itself were okay, but could be better for this price
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We very much enjoyed our stay here. The pool area and the hot tubs are great. The staff was very helpful and friendly at all times. The breakfast was very good as it included local food as well. The location was very good as it was a little further away from the city and quiet. We recommend this for people who have a car.
Cons: The bathroom needs refurbishing. The shower was very old and it was difficult to figure out how to use the tabs. There is hardly any space in the bathroom either and bad lighting. The wifi was awful. It hardly ever worked. After two days we complained and they somehow managed to make it work.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is stunning. You feel surrounded by nature like you are in the middle of a tropical forest. The room was lovely. We had a balcony that made possible to enjoy the view. The breakfast was excellent.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast. Welcoming personnel. Very nice swimming pool area with many Jacuzzi. Convenient location for Fortuna waterfall and Arenal.
Cons: Should have a room with tumble dryers for guests. Considering it rains often and all the water activities (waterfall rappelling, Venado Caves, river rafting, etc, I'm surprised the hotels in the area don't offer that. Most people go to the laundries in the village.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location and scenery, idyllic pool and jacuzzi area that is peaceful and private. It beats going to the hot springs which are overcrowded. The spa service was incredible and in a beautiful hideaway spot, highly recommend treating yourself to the Luna massage and body scrub combo. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Cons: Perhaps slightly expensive but worth it for the calm and peaceful feel of the location, 3-5 min drive from the main strip of La Fortuna.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The resort was a beautiful setting lots of greenery and a very friendly and accommodating staff. Had a plumbing problem first day but it was quickly resolved. Food was good and location was close to town but still tucked away.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The grounds were beautiful. Great pool - especially the jacuzzi pools. The restaurant food, friendly staff, free welcome drink on arrival, good breakfast, the wildlife walk where we saw toucans and a monkey, the happy hour and the open restaurant with the bird table. The location was good for the town and views.
Cons: We were in a downstairs superior double and it felt rather claustrophobic possibly due to the high windows. The shower was difficult to regulate.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: The place is beautiful. The pool and hot tubs are great. When we checked in we took advantage of the special at the spa. The spa is amazing the massage was fine but the location is unbelievable, the room was open on one side facing the jungle and river I have never been to a spa before where the nature sounds were real and not played through speakers.
Cons: It's the jungle do you have to expect some bugs. There were tiny ants everywhere at the resort they did not bother anything but seeing ants crawl through the room lowers the cleanliness score to 4 stars. That being said I would stay here again in a heartbeat even with the ants.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything else. This is a special spot, with a wonderful breakfast and lush surroundings. We highly recommend it!!
Cons: Not enough furniture for clothes, like a dresser with drawers. Also, too far from town.

Pros: Breakfast and wildlife!

Pura Vida!
