Kind staff, thanks for arrangement for a lower bunk bed and in a quiet dorm as per requested. Comfortable bed, cozy breakfast environment.
The bathroom is not separated for gent & ladies, not very convenient for changing. The dorm has no ceiling light so it can be quite dark at night.
Close to metro
Location was perfect, right outside one of Saldanha's metro stations and plenty of eat & drink & supermarkets around. Breakfast was simple but very yum. The staff was excellent, very helpful, quick and practical, super easy check in & check out, plus they kindly store your luggage after check out. Reception available 24h which gives you total freedom. The room was quite big, plenty of space to accommodate luggage and also key-lockers for each tenant. I liked that the beds had a small curtain to keep it private, especially in a 9-bedroom, and their own individual light. Also, great view from my room to one of the most classy avenues in Lisbon. The hostel was oh-so clean and amazing toilet & showers facilities (really love individual showers with plenty of space to hang everything). Only stayed one night but thank you for such a great stay.
Second floor, no elevator (not the hostel's fault really, that's just the building structure but just be aware). Plus, grumpy roommate who apparently thought she had booked a private hotel room and was bothered that someone had to make a minimal amount of noise to check out at 9am but again, not the hostels fault, just people being people.
Very, very easy to get to from Lisbon airport; pleasant space; decent breakfast.
I think the highlight of this place is the staff, who are very friendly and helpful, and do their best to make you feel at home. Second highlight is its proximity to a metro station (Saldanha), which is literally on the doorstep of the hostel. Stayed in the 9-bed female dorm. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast is continental but quite good. I liked it very much. On New Year's Day, there was also a Bolo-rei, which is a traditional Portuguese cake usually eaten around that period - I felt this was a very thoughtful touch. There is also a kitchen that is well-equipped with stove and utensils if you want to cook your own meals. Showers work fine. Hot water supply is adequate (although my roommates did mention that this was not the case in the mornings; I never ran into any issues in the evenings).
Getting into bed (on the upper bunks) is difficult as the opening and ladder is on the narrow side. I’m shorter and smaller than the average European woman and even I had to be very careful getting in and out or risk bumping into things. Request a lower bunk if you foresee some issues here. The small shelf for toiletries should be placed lower to accommodate shorter people - it was really hard for me to put my toiletries on the shelf and reach for them.
