9.6 Excellent
Pros: Amazing property and a great team who manage it. We were very well looked after. All the very best to Dinesh the Head Chef and property manager who pours his heart out in every dish he makes!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Bernard and his staff were friendly, helpful and made our short stay so welcoming. The roaring fire in the dining room was lovely and Bernard even put hot water bottles into our beds! Alot of effort went into the dinner. Unfortunately we had a rather filling lunch so we couldn't fully do justice to dinner. But we will return as we enjoyed our stay so much.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Amazing hotel and old building. Chef Dinesh takes amazing care with his team and makes sure everything is alright. We really felt like at a family. Food also amazing and we even got breakfast at 5am before our departure to words end. Can only recommend this place.
Cons: Nothing at all only watch out that prepayment is stated at booking but they don’t charge in advance and you have to pay at check out
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staying at Fern cliff was like stepping back in time and staying with colonial friends. Behind secure gates, our taxi swung into the driveway pulling up in front of a covered porch which was just as well as it was pouring with rain. Bernard, the Manager, welcomed us with ginger tea and homemade biscuits in front of a roaring fire. Our room was huge and comfortable. The highlight was however dinner in the elegant dining room. Again in front of a roaring fire. A delicious choice of either western or Sri Lankan home cooked cuisine. Breakfast was similarly delicious. The perfect place to break your journey between Kandy and the highlands.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Whoever restored this heritage house deserves an award; the building is charmingly old world with all the perks of present day and an immaculate garden. The food was top notch as well. Ask for a surprise dessert!
Cons: The credit card reader was broken and I barely had enough cash to cover the slightly high prices. Also, none of the rooms were ready on time and we had to wait a while at check in.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent service and food, and room~ strongly recommend for stay.
Cons: I booked a full board room but in fact it should be half board, which is a mistake from booking.com.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was so great, attentive to all of our needs. He also made us visit the rest of this family house. The history of the whole family tree made the little difference. We were staying in a real house as opposed to a chain hotel. I would recommend a 1000 times for a nice quiet trip.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, very helpful staff, kid friendly, great garden to unwind. Unlimited tea / coffee!
Cons: Food choices could improve especially breakfast / dinner options
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The host was wonderful, very welcoming and the food was delicious!
Cons: The room and the house overall was charming, certainly shows its age!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff so friendly and attentive. Food absolutely delicious. Cosy and homely setting. Wish we could have stayed longer.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: A slice of absolute peace and tranquillity- paradise. The tea plantation , the birds chirping, the gurgling stream, the whispering trees - everything was perfect. Jetwing has outdone themselves with finding this piece of history and sharing it with us.The staff were gems who took fantastic care of us. Meena Amma- Saman and Mr Farid thank you ❤️❤️The beautiful Tamil people who run the farms and the tea estate are so humble and have a wonderful way of life that we yearn for.
Cons: The drive there is a bit too challenging and not for the faint hearted. Once at the property you quickly forget the harrowing drive
7.5 Good
Pros: The remote and quiet location The landscape The staff, the living areas
Cons: No WiFi Poor cleanliness Too poor decoration in the room for the price
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Stunning house and location. A real escape and hark back to the colonial era in SL. Feels like you’re a guest in someone’s home rather than a hotel. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Food was excellent (we stayed for Christmas dinner). A lot of produce is grown onsite which adds to the charm.
Cons: Perhaps a little pricey based on standard. Would have loved to have seen some traditional Sri Lankan food on the mostly western menu.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: This is old plantation superintendent villa in total the property has 5 rooms. It is definitely worth paying extra for the master bedroom. Note that this place is very secluded and far away from other places (Nuwara Eliya or Horton Plain).
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This is the most amazing place ever! The feeling was to be the owner of an amazing british cottage in the middle of tea plantation . Staff was uncredie and the chef excellent. Everything is elegant and cozy
Cons: Nothing! Just perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place itself is so unique with a very historic touch of a Scottish planters bungalow, located amidst the tea plantation with endless view of the the mountains. The way the place is set up, everything is next to perfection. Every thing in the house has a story to tell. We love our stay and it was a memorable one.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. I think it was the most magical experience to spend Christmas in the property. The staff were outstanding! I will never forget how well we were treated by Viji, Meenamma, Pradeeban and Faris- we miss you all very much! We had the whole place to ourselves on Christmas eve and felt like the lord and the lady of the mansion haha. Christmas eve dinner was excellent and we had the most beautiful french red. The hike from the estate was just wonderful too- followed by the delicious lunch at Meenamamma's rooms. Best stay ever! Highly recommend. I will one day come back for sure.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Stunning location and run very well by extremely capable and caring staff.
Heritance Tea Factory - Nuwara Eliya - Building
4
8.9 Excellent (1,644 reviews)
S$ 408+
Overview Reviews
Where else in the world can you stay in a converted tea factory, pluck your own tea and take it home with you as a souvenir? At 2km above sea level, the views over our lush green organic plantations as the sun mingles with the mist are truly unforgettable. Enjoy them as you tuck into high tea on the terrace or a delicious tea-themed menu in the restaurant. Welcome to Heritance Tea Factory, where the kettle is always on.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about this hotel is excellent, or, perhaps not the thick mist that spoiled the stunning views.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The high tea.
Cons: So full from excellent high tea that we couldn't find room for tea.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely historic hotel
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The train dining experience was great fun and very charming. The renovation is really well done and sympathetic to the history of the building.
Cons: We went to use the spa but no-one was there and the steam room was turned off. Communication could be a lot better, we tried emailing and messaging the hotel ahead of time to book dinner on the train but got no response.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Unique, historical hotel among tea fields. Once in a lifetime experience. Excellent food.
Cons: Noisy, old building and you really hear everything. Every step. Soundproofing limited. New security gate incl. luggage screening is a joke. There is still open pathway behind garden. Service is excellent but has odd features; everything has a price. Even Tea cookies that they bring as a present. If your order local soda - expect to get Pellegrino already opened. And at least two of them. Triple price of course. Funny think is that Pellegrino is not even listed in the Beverages list. Your credit card may not work because they seem to prefer cash. It is a pity because two years ago it was really an excellent place.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location of the resort, breathtaking views over the mountain Clouds cover the resort at night while seeing the sunrise and sunset beautifully from the mountain top. Staff were incredibly nice and welcoming, especially Sajid and Nwan! Made us feel so comfortable :) highly recommended
Cons: Rooms weren’t so comfortable
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely staff, very clean and comfortable room.Beautiful interior to the hotel, well- documented history of its history and evident concern for the environment. Good range of food offered plus staff available to cook fresh eggs, dosa etc. at breakfast time.
Cons: Our visit was marred by the weather unfortunately. Access to the hotel proved difficult due to the weather conditions and narrowness of the road. I couldn't comment on the view as the mist obscured it but Im sure it would be stunning under normal conditions. The hotel attracts a very cosmopolitan clientele but some were confused by the food on offer, better labelling or someone on hand to give advice would have been useful

4.2 Okay
Pros: The view and few member of the staff
Cons: First night i got there I saw stains on the towels in the bathrooms. Then, realised that the water temperature & pressure of the shower fluctuated a lot, could not take a proper shower in 3 nights. Third, the food is very limited every day breakfast lunch dinner you eat the exact same thing, few options and way over priced as you don’t have any close restaurants to the hotel. Food stops at 10pm and there is no 24h food service. I rang several times to the reception and no one answered, they are clearly way under staffed. On top of all of this, the SPA was not operational for some reason. Would not recommend it as it is not a 5 star hotel, nowhere close to being one. First and last time for sure.
6.3 Good
Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: The television was not supported usb. There was a delay in suppling food.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Not worth for the money in facylitys and so far from the city they say the luxeary hotel staff and looks like trainers

Pros: This place was recommended to me prior to our stay. And I can see why! It is absolutely beautiful, comfortable with awesome staff! My family and I stayed there for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it - from the wonderful gardens, view out to the surrounding land and mountains as well as the fantastic staff that looked after us in the restaurant. My 7 year old daughter even had a drawing personally created for her by one of the guys there..... I can thoroughly recommend this place to anyone looking for something cosy, clean and with colonial charm.
7.0 Good
Pros: The panoramic view is the best which took my breath away ❤
Cons: Nothing
5.0 Okay
Pros: Welcoming staff
Cons: In booking.com it says the hotel is only 1.4 km away from Gregory lake. In reality it is more than 10 km away. Also, the service charges are around 20% of the rate you get in booking.com This is crazy and too much
7.0 Good
Pros: The view was awesome.
Cons: Wasn't that clean
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything including the product, the location, the quality of service standards, the breakfast buffet spread, the views from the room and the restaurant.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous old property
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff were there for you.
Cons: The staff needed to aquatint the guests with info. Re the use of shower, heater etc.
5.8 Okay
Pros: It was an old school colonial hotel. It was a break from the normal places so that was good.
Cons: The real elephant leg that was used as an umbrella stand. It should be burned, along with any reference to the a.hole that shot 1000 elephants.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Proper old school and quirky: rather a luxury boarding school. Great location and very comfortable rooms. Recommend making friends with Croos who is an excellent barman who now know how to make Springboks.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Peaceful location, quiet and secluded garden. Close to town but isolated. A glimpse of a past colonial existence.
Cons: Great to have a dress code for a dining experience, and disappointing that other guests do not always comply with this code. Likewise, lack of respect and adherence to the no mobile devices at dinner policy.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Location in the heart of the town. The exterior of hotel and the garden , very charming ,old. British style. Breakfast was nice
Cons: The bed is horrible 100 year old, each movement I made it cause terrible noise. Mastress and pillows are horrible. I could not sleep. Zéro insonorision I heard everything, dogs ware barking all night long. The old wood floor makes too much noise . Go for takeing picture but don’t sleep there. All my body was hurt after sleeping in that room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room and bathroom are clean and comfortable. Staff are friendly and attentive, food was delicious.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The fire in the fireplace was nice, and the staff was very obliging.
Cons: Such a shame to let such a lovely building go to rack and ruin. It is all so very dull, dark and a bit dirty around the edges.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: It has been more than 10 days since we left Stafford Bangalow but I still miss everything there: considerate service, awesome building and decoration, yummy meals and high tea...it can offer you a very comfortable and relaxed stay without disturbing. Even though you have to take one hour driven from pink post office to the banglow, trust me this is indeed a worthy sacrifice.
Cons: Nothing. We will come back absolutely!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Amazing staff of the place made everything to make our stay perfect!
Cons: We only had one night! Would stay for more!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Where to start...the bed was the comfiest I’ve slept in in a long, long time. The type you sink into with feather down pillows and duvet and crisp white cotton sheets. The staff and quality of the service was impeccable from start to finish, nothing was too much trouble and they went the extra mile at every turn for example meeting you in the garden as you returned home from a trip with cold towels and drinks. The food was marvellous- cooked to perfection and the menu varied to accommodate preferences and dietary requirements. The gardens are so lovingly tended and the house steeped in nostalgia. It took me back to my childhood. A truly magical place with service that the George V would struggle to provide.
Cons: A little further from Newara Eliya than other options but well worth the journey time. The countryside around Ragala is picture postcard perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful stunning property with the loveliest staff who spoilt us
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I liked everything about the place. The staff was very helpful. The breakfast was excellent. On the day we were checking out they even prepared a simple lunch for my 1yo. Will revisit for a longer stay.
Villa Tea Fields - Nuwara Eliya - Building
10
8.6 Excellent (526 reviews)
S$ 105+

5.4 Okay
Cons: No more hot water for shower after 5 seconds hot water supply and the water was so cold which I nearly got sick. No staff can be reached at night and no information on where the staff can be reached out at night.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts are simply the loveliest people, incredibly helpful and going out of their way to help. The room in the attic is very romantic and quaint, especially the bathroom. Slightly outside of Nuwara Eliya but all tuk tuk drivers knows where it is so easy to get back and forth.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The villa was well kept and smelt amazing, furnishings looked new and the bed very comfortable. We were greeted with tea on arrival which was a nice touch, and given a packed breakfast to take on our hike early the next morning which was appreciated. The location is a little further out of town but we enjoyed being amongst the tea fields so thought it was a great spot.
Cons: We were staying on the ground floor and found the footsteps from upstairs fairly noisy. As it’s a wooden building this wasn’t a surprise and didn’t put us off staying here again, however I’d recommend requesting a room upstairs if you’re a light sleeper.
7.9 Good
Pros: Beautiful views over the tea fields. Helpful, friendly staff who arranged transport to Horton plains and also served us pots of tea on the balcony several times a day. Pleasant bath with reliable hot water.
Cons: It’s a few kilometres out of town without nearby options for dinner, so we ended up ordering home delivery. The villa is not sound proofed, so we were conscious of trying to stop our kids making a racquet and disturbing other guests.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: packed breakfast and complimentary tea was a nice touch
Cons: the chanting in the nearby monastery at 5am woke us up but if you go hiking in the morning (like we did) and have to get up anyway then it's fine
8.3 Excellent
Pros: A cute little property with only 4 rooms which allows for a quiet night!
Cons: Hot water was a little unpredictable.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The view, the room and the staff were excellent. The delux room was perfect for our family of 4.
Cons: No hand towels or face clothes.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Lovely setting in the tea fields and easy tuk tuk ride into the town. Nice place to relax and escape from a busy itinerary. Charming old buildings (which may need some maintenance) but added to the colonial tea plantation feeling. The staff were available to go out of their way to help with your requests - sometimes requests were not actioned without several requests so be persistent and all will work our well. We enjoyed our first two nights so much we extended by a day.
Cons: Set-up is like a home stay so breakfasts are communal - not a problem for us but wanted to mention. However, unlike other home stays dinners are not provided. There was a kitchen area but we were not invited access to it. You are suggested ordering a take-away or to go out to dinner in town - options in town are limited to the big hotels.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect. Those little cottage type room and surroundings made me feel like home. V nice and attentive staff. Homemade breakfast. Nice view from tea fields. It is actually a villa in middle of tea fields
Cons: Loved everything. Nothing to dislike about this property

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bungalow is in the middle of a tea plantation about 10 minute drive from Hatton, we loved the remoteness. Lovely colonial features, helpful staff, cashew nuts were amazing! Lovely rooms, we shared a large room between three of us which had plenty of space.
7.9 Good
Pros: The service.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The service was superb. One of us in the group has a stomach upset and had to stay in for the day and the staff looked
Cons: The mosquitoes. My family have been bitten multiple times there - although I do note that it is not an isolated problem specific to Strathdon.
7.1 Good
Pros: Beautifully located in the tea plantations overlooking the valley. The gardener took us on a walk through the tea plantations, which was great. Breakfast on the veranda with the view.
Cons: Windowless rooms, some smell a little moist. I booked the stay including dinner on booking.com. When I checked out, the host insisted that dinner was not included even when I showed him the confirmation. I had to insist several times until he realized he had made a mistake. Overall, good place to stay but certainly did not feel like a 5 star hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place is amazing. Especially the food. Great place to spend your vacation.
7.5 Good
Pros: Most attentive staff ever, such a relaxing place to stay and amazing food, can’t praise the staff and chef highly enough
Cons: The bathroom was not great, access to the bath tricky
5.8 Okay
Pros: They informed us that a double room was available at their sister property Dick Oya which was 20 mins away. Dick Oya by Jetwing was beautiful but the intial mess up with the booking had already spoiled our mood. But we did try to make the best of it.
Cons: We had booked a deluxe double room at Strathdon and when we got there our room was unavailable. Upon arrival we were informed that the couple in the double room extended their stay, therefore the room was unavailable. It was super inconvenient and really dissapointing cause I made the booking months in advance and after driving all the way to Hatton who wants to hear that the room they booked was actually unavailable and that they had arranged a twin room instead. My husband and I had so many special plans planned but ended up not following through any of them cause the start of the trip was so dissapointing. We would have appreciated atleast a phone call in advance informing us about the room. The best part is I called Jetwing that same day morning saying we were running late. Atleast have the decency to inform me at that point that the room was unavailable. Thoroughly dissapointed! Also the food is not value for money! Breakfast was disappointing, quantities were too small for the price and the taste was average.

7.0 Good
Pros: Heritage charm. Very eco friendly, sourcing vegetables from own garden, evening buffet excellent.
Cons: Coffee. Little variety of European breakfast
4.0 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: House keeping and breakfast
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great events on in the bar and a lovely cosy feel
4.2 Okay
Pros: Old world colonial charm in the tea plantation area. The property is close to the town centre and nearby attractions.
Cons: Rude Staff who are ill informed. Checked in by a lady called Gowri who was incredibly rude and insisted we had no breakfast as part of our date. We later discovered we were being charged US$90/ day for two people for breakfast. Unsure if that was a booking.com error or hotel accounts. On check out we were told we were charged US$ 120 for a Christmas dinner that we had no idea was included as none of the staff had informed us and there was no indication of this on our booking details. We had called to enquire about the Christmas party but the restaurant had no idea about the event! Was bizarre as there was a huge party with a great spread. They asked us to pay for that. Has we known it was included we would have joined. Quality of breakfast was poor but with choice. But limited options in nearby areas so you sort of have to eat there. Rooms are old and damp and carpets are dirty. Like staying in a cheap motel with terrible service, while paying high end prices. Two thumbs down!
7.1 Good
Pros: The room was a good size, windows that could be opened, large bed, clean bathroom. Good selection of TV channels, glass water bottles (no plastic!) and a good tea available with kettle.
Cons: Wifi was slow in the room, staff seemed fairly uninterested and the hotel only has one buffet restaurant with average food.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good evening buffet value for money, nice gardens, close to centre Very good staff organising taxi to next destination
Cons: Bedroom decor needs updating a bit shabby
7.1 Good
Pros: Good breakfast.freindly staff in buffet area. Well maintained garden.
Cons: Even though we clearly mentioned that we need a full bed what they offered was two single beds at the premises. We had to went through bit of a struggle to change our room into a full bed. Which ended up a room without a terrace.

Pros: Very nice stay but a little bit too expensive for what you get. Room was clean but smaller than most of the rooms we stayed at in Sri Lanka. Breakfast was very good. Staff was friendly, they even prepared at breakfast to take out when we were leaving at 5 am to Hortons National Park. There was very nice view from the room. Located a little bit outside the city - around 4 km from city centre.
Cons: The price was a little bit too expensive for what you get.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good. room was neat and clean. stuffs were very friendly. Nice view from balcony.

Pros: Well managed villa with few minuets drive from town center .
Cons: The way they serve the breakfast awful. Ala -cart mean "according to the menu." but there is no menu at all.

Pros: It was slightly out of town which my husband and I enjoyed as it was very relaxing. Games in the loft was a great addition. The staff were really helpful in sorting out day trips for us and sorting a great driver. The food was excellent !
Cons: The WiFi was a little bad. breakfast wasn’t varied and could have had more options other than eggs or cornflakes.

Pros: The staff is very nice, the breakfast is also good and what I loved the most was the view! I woke up to see the sunrise and it was stunning ❤❤
Cons: The only thing I didnt like was that the wifi signal didnt get to my room but it's good to a getaway!!
5.8 Okay
Pros: The view from the room and the breakfast-eating place is very good. But that’s basically it.
Cons: We booked the hostel/hotel because of the view and the amazing facilities. But the place didn’t have a restaurant and of course room service either, they didn’t have a shared kitchen, WiFi wasn’t available, they didn’t have a currency exchange either and we couldn’t choose what to eat for breakfast. The description of the hotel is very misleading and they really don’t offer as much as told.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is local hotel. The staffs are friendly. We need get up at 4:45am to hike the plain. The boss also prepared the delicious breakfast for us,let us take away. The hotel is on the hill.I think it’s a bit remote even though there is only about 2km far away from the center. The most exciting is we can see the fantastic view. I like this view. It‘s worthable for our stay
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I took a taxi from the bus station and halfway to the property we met Namadi who transferred my backpack to his car and drove me to a nearby restaurant for lunch. He is very helpful and offered to hike the Leopard's Rock unfortunately I didn't have enough time. It would have been great though.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very powerful shower and overall nice spacious bathroom and room. Thick blankets on the bed to stay warm in the night and carpet on the floor. View from the common area was lovely as the hostel is on top of a hill. Staff were very friendly and had lots of suggestions of things to do in the area.
Cons: The common areas have lots of potential but currently aren't really being used. It is a huge space but it feels like a conference centre. I think some sofas, bean bags and areas to relax would be a huge improvement. Water in the shower went cold for the second person showering. Hard toast at breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly host and staffs! Really great mountain views. Good price. Facilities of the room are good.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Good views over the city, quiet, comfortable room, good hot shower. Namadi the host has loads of info having been a tour guide, a real “fixer” sorted tickets for the train for us
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was excelent! So helpful and friendly and managed to meet our every need (including birthday cake ;). Rooms were clean and spacious. Great rest area and the magnificient cat!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were large and bed was comfortable with nice thick blanket which we needed as it went cold at night. Breakfast was excellent & plentiful. Namadi went out of his way to give us tips on where to stay on the rest of our journey. Namadi spotted us looking for a Tuk tuk one night as he was driving through the town and he parked his car and ran after us to give us a lift back to the hostel !!!! Great stay, great staff & beautiful cat.

Pros: Welcoming staff
Cons: In booking.com it says the hotel is only 1.4 km away from Gregory lake. In reality it is more than 10 km away. Also, the service charges are around 20% of the rate you get in booking.com This is crazy and too much
