We enjoyed our stay at the chancellor hotel. Location is outstanding - right in the heart of Union Square. Facilities are solid. Staff are friendly, courteous and very helpful. Free popcorn, coffee, apples are nice treats. Room and bed were very comfortable. Great value. I plan to stay here again and would recommend it.

The room was clean and well maintained. The bathroom was small but quite functional.. There are no breakfast facilities at the hotel but being in a central location, there is a good choice of cafe's nearby. Powell street is busy during the day and surprisingly quiet at night.

Pros (+) While it was a fairly tight room the amazing comfort of the beds made that small bathroom insignificant. There was also a great deep tub that was just what I needed after lots of walking.
Cons (-) Tight bathroom

Pros (+) Awesome location, close to everything with the tram stop right outside and shopping only minutes away.
Cons (-) Rooms were dated and they get hot, no aircon either

Pros (+) It was a very nice family hotel with an interesting history. Well located right off Union Square. The hotel staff were all very nice. Though we didn't take advantage of them, the bar and restaurant both seemed nice.
Cons (-) The weather was cool and the hotel had the boiler running. Our room must have been 80 degrees and no way to shut the heat off. We were on the top floor and the hotel staff offered to move us to a lower (cooler) room. The second floor room was just as warm. The rooms really need local control of temperature.
