GREAT car for the price!
Pros: Snagged 4 days of a small Kia sedan (no idea what model) for just a little over $50! Car had about 30,000 miles on it, but ran perfectly. Pickup easy, drop off even easier.

Given dirty car 6,000 miles overdue for oil change
Pros: The only good thing I have to say is that making the reservation was easy.
Cons: We were not told up front that Advantage would be holding $200 on my credit card as a deposit until we got to the window to pick up the car. The entire rental didn't cost $200! Second, the car we were issued was filthy. Because we picked it up in a really dark garage, we could not see just how dirty the interior was. The car handled terribly. My husband didn't even want to drive it. It was so far out of alignment that the tires were balding unevenly, and the oil light kept coming on because the car was 6,000 miles overdue for an oil change.
BOTTOM LINE: I'd almost rather walk than use Advantage again.

Pros: Rates were very good. Very convenient to Orange County, CA airport as they are on-site.
Cons: Kayak information states that the rental center is off-site which it is not. I spent some time waiting for a shuttle to take me to the off-site location only to find out they are located on premises. Kayak - update your site - they have been at the airport for years!
Seats were a bit dirty but overall car was fine.

Last minute rental made super easy!!

Cons: The woman when I dropped my car off was rude I found the previous renters payment slip in car and it was half the price of mine. I asked for the cheaper rate and she said no and walked away.
Cons: Unable to obtain copies of contract as requested. No one had access to the contract I was under. Still do not have a copy of my contract. This is ridiculous. Legally I should have access to the agreement and did not. Difficulty in obtaining correct information on contract renewals (spent a great deal of time getting mixed information from agents on procedure. Was told I had to bring the car in when in fact I did not have to bring the car in on 3 different occasions). Incorrect information on rental agreement (said that I had a youth driver but did not), returned car in perfect condition but still charging a deductible on credit card and have not been able to resolve yet.

Pros: The price and ease of picking it up and dropping it off was awesome. I wasn't sure what to expect from my "specialty" car, and was very pleased!

Quite the adventure!
Pros: I got caught behind the Blue Cut Fire and wasn't able to return my car to Ontario. I was stuck on the Hesperia side of the fire and the only escape route was around the north and down the Antelope Valley. Alamo allowed me to return the car to LAX at no additional charge so I could still fly out that same night instead of having to spend the night in Ontario. Also, free XM radio - that was awesome in traffic!
Cons: No bluetooth for connecting my phone's GPS and Pandora :(
Cons: We returned the car couple of hours later and we were charged for the whole day

Only Kia Souls?
Pros: Drop off was quick and easy.
Cons: Reserved a compact, at arrival told the only compacts they keep are Kia Souls--agent offered that these weren't very good cars and I should upgrade to midsize for $5/day. If Kia Souls aren't very good cars, why keep them?

Pros: The guy at the counter was very helpful. He reimbursed the overcharged balance from the first charged.
Cons: First they didn't have a car that could fit 7 as I reserved. Then it took over an hour to find an option. Then they put us in a passenger van in which we had to wait almost two hours for because the driver didn't see us so someone just parked the van. No one called us or anything so I had to go back into the rental office to ask where it was. That took some more time as they couldn't figure it out. Not the most convenient wait with a two year old. Then on the return they told us to park out back. Only to unload and reload our baggage as that person said we needed to go back to the airport in the van and not a shuttle.
And to cap it off I was overcharged $200.

car all smashed and bad price
Pros: the car was badly damaged and charged me $ 76 because I returned the car 13 minutes later. I found a total lack of sensitivity.
Cons: Return my money and review the cars of care policy, the rear side windows I had to close manually because fought halfway.

Had 3 cars in 6 days!
Pros: Given the extraordinarily inconvenient week of rentals with Avis, the best people I ran into were the tow truck driver and the woman who graciously accommodated my fees at the end. (However her manager initially only wanted to offer me Avis CREDIT!)
Cons: My initial rental ended up not having air conditioning (in CA, in August). Due to traffic circumstances I couldn't return the car to my point of origin and had to drive over four hours until I reached an airport that could accommodate a rental exchange. Second car seemed fine, they upgraded my rental class, and I finished my drive that day with air conditioning. I drove that vehicle another 98 miles, over two days. On the road it seized up, with an indicator on the dash about the coolant temp...the car had over heated. Roadside assistance had to be called, and I was towed back to the airport to receive yet another vehicle. The last vehicle did make the journey back to Southern California, though I had my suspicions about the transmission. I have never had an experience like this with any rental company. I opted to lay a bit more to use Avis as I was hoping the name would bring quality. Having cars that are not inspected properly and thoroughly prior to being put on the road is not only inconvenient, but flat out has the potential to the dangerous. I am so disappointed with the Avis experience. And to be offered as an initial "we're sorry for the inconvenience" a $50 Avis voucher is insulting. Thankfully in the end there was an adjustment offered to me, I just wish that it hadn't cost me precious time with my family in the process.
Cons: I had my reservation for Saturday morning at an office that closed at noon and closed on Sundays. I missed my flight due to Southwest's computer snafu so didn't arrive till till Sunday. I wanted to pick up my car on Monday morning. After multiple phone calls, mostly to India (grr) all I could learn was the reservation was automatically cancelled. A new reservation would cost much more $$$. They couldn't guarantee the mini-van I reserved would still be available, etc etc etc.
If the office closed right after I was supposed to get my car, of course it's still there! Right? So it would still be there Monday morning, right? Never could talk to a person who could actually understand my reasoning, never mind agree and act on it. Ugh.

Kayak and hertz screwed me
Cons: I booked a car by reserving from SNA/Orange County airport. Upon arrival I learned the reservation was available at some random off-site location. I had to spend 5 times the original cost for a last minute reservation from the airport. Trying to save money cost me WAY more by using katlyak and hertz

29 minute courtesy period.....from a time they don't tell you!
Pros: very clean and car in great condition, very professional except for telling me the correct time to drop off
Cons: Scheduled pickup for noon, I asked what time to bring it back and they said they have a half hour grace period, and nothing else. So....I return the car at 12:20pm and they say there is a charge for being late. After 10min of waiting they tell me I returned the car AFTER 12:30.
All told, they did not charge me but wasting my time for lack of information and a TWENTY-NINE minute courtesy period?! I've rented cars from at least 5 other places and all have a 1 hour grace period - from the time of the scheduled booking! The supervisor lady said next time they would charge me extra. I told her next time you should share the correct return time before the customer leaves. She didn't even acknowledge this and acted like she did me a favor.

Pros: The convenience location of SNA Airport.
Cons: - The incompetence skill set, rudeness, unprofessional attitude of the agent at the counter.
- Many customers had to wait for more than 40 minutes to get the car.
while the Budget's customers in the neighbor counters had been long gone with their vehicles.
- Unorganized, poor managed, hectic facility. Lack of onsite management capability at the pickup location.
- The vehicle was not full tanks filled when picked up, but absolutely full when returned.
- Totally disappoint experience, considering the Hertz brand.

Cons: There was no shuttle from the airport. The facility was only 7 min away from the airport and no shuttle I have never been to a rental car facility that is near an airport without a shuttle

Good service, yet confusing
Pros: Amanda was very helpful. Car was clean.
Cons: Van rental shop was not at the airport. Had to call for shuttle. Directions were not clear on what to do once we arrived at the airport. Either this was not clearly stated when I purchased the rental, or entirely an oversight on my part.
