They tried to rip me off on gas
Pros: The car itself was great. Kia SUV.
Cons: The tank was half full. Never have I rented a car with half a tank. Nowhere on my rental agreement did they mark it. So I drove back to hertz to tell them and they said yeah we know it's in the system. I asked where did they mark it in my paper, they said we didn't. So I had to trust them.... well guess what I got charged an extra 45 bucks for gas!!! I asked why, they said you returned it half full. The car was 3/4 full. I had to remind them no it wasn't I even drove back. Just bullshit. Wouldn't trust them ever again.

Looked Good at Check-out, then it wasn't.
Pros: Not much really.
Cons: The car pick up took much longer than a regular car pick up. I was offered the choice of two cars (same class), picked one because I was told the seats folded down and then they realized they didn't. At that point, I just took the car - I was way behind because it took 1/2 hr to get my rental.
Cons: I took the insurance out suggested on the Kayak website only to find that when I got to the rental place, that insurance didn't cover any damage to others if I got in to an accident. I therefore had to take out another policy with Avis to cover me in case of that.

Cons: Parking lot too small. Difficult to drop off when someone else is leaving.

Excellent value, great car
Pros: Much nicer than expected car, great price and convenience in both locations.
Cons: Pick up and drop off slower than ideal - each location had longish lines and could've used a second person at desk

Cons: Despite having a reservation they had no cars available whatsoever.
Eventually told me I could take the sports car since I was an hour late for work, but it would be an additional $20/day. Eventually they said they could remove the upcharge when I returned the car. Took over an hour to pick up the car. Dropped off on time, took over an hour to return the car. 1 employee on site and so many customers we all couldn't even fit in the lobby. Upcharge on car was remove, part of me feels this was only because of the insanely terrible service at pickup and drop off. Never again at this location.

They didn't have the car I reserved so I ended up paying almost double
Pros: Close to Santa Monica Pier (10 blocks)
Cons: The car we reserved didn't exist so we had to pay almost double for an involuntary upgrade. We felt like we were, albeit mildly, swindled by the franchise.
Pros: We were upgraded from a compact to a Ford Escape and it was very nice. We rented it for a trip to Tucson and enjoyed all of its features. They were very nice at the desk and we were in and out quickly.
