Cons:

Tried for several days to cancel reservation. From Kayak was unable to cancel via my account as kept getting notice that I couldn‘t cancel a reservation under someone else‘s name (??). From enterprise website every time I clicked to modify the existing reservation it refreshed to starting homepage. And rental location did not pick up phone for 5-6 calls, and no other form of contact. Four days of unsuccessful attempts - huge waste of time and very frustrating!!

Agency had a long (several hour) wait for cars upon arrival. Item left in car (hat) and, even after notifying the agency within minutes, they could not locate the hat. We received follow-up the next day due to the agency not having a record of us returning the car. Overall, a disorganized operation.

Cons:

I rented a car through kayak only to be told by the vendor on arrival that they were sold out and the online merchant who sold the deal to me neglected to give them any contact so that they could let me know. This was discovered after my ride left leaving me stranded on an unfamiliar road in an unfamiliar city in the cold at 5 PM when essentially everything was shutting down and derailing my plans completely. It looks like you over sold and now are pawning me off on the third party (carrentals.com) for resolution “in a few days.” The reservation was paid in advance for a rental that KAYAK was claiming to guarantee and failed to deliver. On your own website you write “we work hard as the world’s leading travel search engine to get our users the information they need so they can plan trips the way they want, confidently.” In big bold letters no less! What a crock, this was my first experience booking through you and I’ll be sure to tell everyone I know about my experience with KAYAK. Finally I request again you either secure a car so I may complete my delayed travel or refund what I paid. Thank you.

Bait and switch not appreciated. Printed quote we had from Thrifty.com was not honored and went up by $60 at pick up. All manner of fast-talking reasons were cited, all of which had already been accounted for when we got the quote online. Branch or quote software needs examination.

I paid for a full to full vehicle. I was told at the desk they don’t offer this service and we needed to just return the car empty how we found It. This was disappointing, bearing in mind we don’t have any signal and couldn’t initially find a gas station, the counter staff couldn’t direct us to the nearest one.

It was nothing about Avis. I am only disappointed about Kayak. I selected airport pick up. After I waited a long long time, i was like 45mins to pick up my car. I was informed that I went to a wrong location. I do request pick up in airport but….. at that time is 3:48. Your receipt showed that the shop will close at 4:00. i took a taxi and tried to get the car. When I came to the shop it showed that the operation hour close at 5pm. I am very angry and disappointed what Kayak information. I cannot receive all the right information from Kayak.

First time using Kayak to rent Avis that I have rented with before. The front staff were very good to deal with as I watched them deal with other customers while waiting and my experience was no different. Other than the truck I rented having 'limited' km's it was new, clean and had no issues. I had to rent due to my own vehicle not being long distance worthy for a trip to visit family on long weekend. Unexpected extra money out of pocket but overall experience with Kayak and Avis went well.

Safety issues with the vehicle: 1) bad shaking inside the vehicle, can be felt through steering wheel & over back/front wheels when car is going downhill & brakes applied @ >60kph. Doesn’t happen at lower speeds going downhill. 2) steering: very loud humming in front when wheels are turning. Possible power steering pump failure

Except for a long walk from Baggage Claim to all of the rental car agencies (at Calgary Airport), the entire process was easy and fast. My VW Jetta was a workhorse in the Canadian Rockies.

Your manager Warren was outstanding to work with and was extremely helpful. We enjoyed meeting him. The brakes on the Grand Caravan were a concern in that apparently previous drivers had overheated the brakes and it appeared that the rotors were warped. We had noticed some vibration in the steering wheel when braking soon after we got the vehicle. Near the end of our trip we experienced increased vibration especially if heavy braking was necessary. We were quite concerned about our safety since we were traveling with several of our grandchildren. I spoke to a mechanic in Jasper in detail about what we were experiencing and he confirmed we would be ok to drive back to Calgary, but the rotors need to be checked. We were able to return to Calgary without incident and I took special care to not follow closely and maintain lower speed with downshifting and using the brakes as sparingly as possible.

Booked online, got the confirmation and so drove over to pick up the car I was confirmed to be renting. Only to talk to staff and be told, we have no vehicles for you...anywhere. Left me stranded as my regular vehicle was being repaired so I had no way of getting home. Would not recommend.

Make sure all vehicles have apple car play. It is safer for travellers and others on the road. Also figure out your lot it is always hard to get in and out. Dangerous even.

The staff at dollar has no manners. Incompetent. We were misguided by the staff. Fuel tank was not full when we picked up the vehicle. It had caused us inconvenience. There was no apology issued by the staff upon our return of the vehicle. I was very disappointed by the manners and attitude. They need to get some advice and classes on how to deal with a customer. Would never recommend anyone to deal with that location in particular.
