9.6 Excellent
Pros: The room was very clean, well lit, and the electric shade was really cool- darkened the room perfectly! The breakfast was very tasty- best French toast I’ve ever had! VERY happy with our stay!
Cons: The breakfast was quite pricey, especially considering how much we had to pay for the room. I understand it’s an all you can eat style and that justifies the price, but I don’t need (and didn’t eat) more than one serving. Options would’ve been nice- all you can eat for the $11.95, one serving for a lesser price, or a continental for no charge.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice staff. Room comfy

Cons: The staff was not helpful
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good staff, liked the hotel bar and staff
9.0 Excellent
Pros: It is a very nice hotel in a great location in the city.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: We like the historic feel of the renovated hotel and its downtown location; and the fact that the comforter had nice weight and warmth in the winter. We also liked the room size, aveda products , having a large refrigerator, free parking, free coffee on the lobby, and free newspaper. We especially liked how easy it was to walk to restaurants or night life from the hotel.
Cons: The beds were a little hard. Some walls and furnishings need minor refreshing like fresh paint/carpet soon or minor updates.Would have liked newer feeling sheets / and comforter cover. I didn’t like that there wasn’t any good-sized safe in the room. The restaurant Caroline’s didn’t have good eggs. The fitness center was in an isolated basement area with no working internet and felt a little scary to be by yourself early morning. The price differed between nights and it didn’t show the higher price for one of the nights clearly when booking.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The ambiance & toiletries.
Cons: The noise from the bars below was unbearable-screaming & car doors slamming until 2 am
7.9 Good
Pros: Loved
Cons: Wasn't a fan of the room bathroom door, not locking and seeing through the crack. (Room 405)- The view to the roof was unexpected, but we did enjoy our stay overall. Check-in and Check-out were super easy with good staff.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: All of the positive comments from other reviews are 100% true! Excellent service, food, accommodation, location and owners really care a lot to make it special. I definitely will book again!
Cons: I stayed on the 3rd floor with the bathroom on 2nd floor. Owners have plans for construction of a bathroom on the 3rd floor. All other rooms have on suites.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Just spent a couple of nights here. From the moment we walked in there was delicious pumpkin-cream cheese bread waiting for us! The staff was very helpful and the house and rooms were so cute, it felt like we were living in a different time. The breakfast was ab-so-lu-tely delicious, with a nice homemade taste to it. There's a nice selection of movies to watch if you feel like spending some lazy time inside the room and you can always get popcorn, tea, or coffee by the kitchen. Our room had a fireplace and we did no hesitate to use it after a long chilly walk outside! Galena is just about 20 to 25 minutes away so you can go there without issues. Would definitely stay here again!
Cons: Our bathtub was great for taking baths , but showering was a little tricky.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The property was historical, beautifully furnished. Colorful and joyful lights specific to the house’s period. The environment was warm and cozy. Michelle and her husband prepared us a good breakfast and hung out with us, while telling us the story of the place. Great people and great attention to details. The baked goods around the house and for breakfast were amazing, and they specifically made blueberry muffins with no gluten or dairy for us! The bed was comfortable.
Cons: The place was truly beautiful but a little more dusting would have helped.
7.0 Good
Pros: Beautiful inside. Awesome breakfast! Gracious, friendly hostess- the host not so much.
Cons: From the outside, the house looks like it should be condemned. Inside while beautiful needs a LOT of TLC. Our room had two broken windows.

Cons: I was surprised - disappointed by the size of the hot tub. I will ask next time about the size when booking a room. With the size of the motel, I assumed the pool/hot tub would be larger. Lesson learned. everything else was great.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff was great, very helpful and accommodating. The location was great in the heart of downtown and very close to both casinos.
Cons: Parking was a little iffy, I have a disability and there were not a lot of handicap spots. The place was clean but a little old looking could use a little updating, but all in all I definitely will go back
9.2 Excellent
Pros: It was good. Didn’t spend much time around the property.
Cons: I felt the employees were required to do too many tasks for 1 person. I called front desk and guest service. No one answered multiple times. So I walked down to the front desk twice and asked for towels for the room. It took an hour because the lady was running the Shuttle-bus. Also called to have room service no one answered so we went down to eat in the restaurant. Saw that the bar back had to run the whole restaurant by himself. He did a great job but felt very bad for him. He was running his butt off trying to get to everyone on a Sunday evening. No one answers the phone because they are doing so my other tasks. Food was great and delicious.

7.0 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: Didn't realize the waterpark wasn't included in the booking. Also had issues with our heating and AC unit.. It was either really hot or really cold.. Couldn't control the temperature.
7.0 Good
Pros: Staff was nice and apologized for check in experience. Restaurant had good food.
Cons: Bed was comfortable, but bathroom had moldy and stained wallpaper. Pull out sofa and chair were worn. I think they are doing renovations, if not they sure need to. Checking in was slow and chaotic.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly greeter at the door. Lots of information and suggestions.
3.7 Mediocre
Cons: The staff was extremely rude, which was also brought to the aquarium and museum where 2 of Grand Harbors employees work. They were 2 of the main employees at grand harbor that treated me, my husband, and our 3 little ones absolutely horrible. Was not told the water park would be closed 2 of the 4 days we stayed.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The variety for a continental breakfast was good.
Cons: The breakfast area was not big enough for the volume of people using it. The lines to get food were at least a 20-30 minute wait. Could the different areas be broken up? Waffles were separated but the toast/cereal/juice/eggs were all in a single line and you couldn't just get juice without waiting in a huge line.
6.0 Good
Pros: When I called earlier in the week the staff was friendly and knowledgeable.
Cons: Arrived at 3pm and were able to pre register. Was told check-in started at 4 and would get a call when the room was ready. Met with family and ate a small meal. Finally received a call at 5 that the room was ready. Not what we expected after 4hr car ride.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location,location,location!
5.0 Okay
Pros: bed and pillows were amazing. Thicker blankets would have been nice though. Nice breakfast. Food was good.
Cons: Cable and WiFi were spotty and continuously cut out while we were trying to watch a movie. Toilet backed up and phone didn’t work to call front desk.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Rooms need updated bathroom door should open differently
1.0 Poor
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Restaurant service was awesome, staff was rude
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The beds were very comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking for guests of the hotel.
Cons: Waterpark passes were not included with the room cost. The vent on the hair dryer in our bathroom was full of dust and hair. There was a rag on the vanity in the bathroom. There was some trash on the floor that didn't get fully vacuumed. Our room was advertised as 2 queens but they were full size.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Crowded facility. Not enough tables. Food was typical.
Cons: Had to wait two hours (!) past the check in time for our rooms!

6.0 Good
Pros: Hotel appeared to be fairly new with modern decor. Hotel was close to shopping and restaurants. Breakfast was included.
Cons: Alarm clocks in rooms without guests were going off for hours continuously. Red truck pulled up in parking lot at 4 am blaring music which woke everyone up. Didn't see hotel staff deal with the situation as truck was there for several minutes.
9.0 Excellent
Cons: The TV in the first room did not get the channels listed on the sheet. Sherri and I tried to rescan channels. Did not work. So she put me in another room which worked fine. Thanks for the help.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was great. Though we had to go through a couple of rooms before we arrived at one that worked the staff was wonderful. Our booking was not in their computers when we arrived so there was some confusion about that, but that was not their fault.

8.0 Excellent
Cons: Very noisy heater
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean. Great breakfast.
Cons: Nothing. Was very impressed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Even though their website didn't mention it, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that they had a hot tub! Most places over promise and under deliver, but they did just the opposite! I was so thrilled!
Cons: There was very little that could have been improved. A "tv guide" channel would have been nice though. We had to flip through the channels and stumble upon shows. That was the only thing that could have been better.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great staff. Very friendly. Room was clean and comfortable. Everything worked. Nice breakfast. Updated well.
7.0 Good

Pros: Location was good.
Cons: Eggs, sausage and coffee was empty and not many people staying either. Night people didn't take care of the breakfast very good and when the day person got there she was upset at the night people and was really grouchy and hardly talked just complained. Someone set off fire alarm about 8:00pm and it rang forever before someone checked and shut it off.

Pros: Biscuits and gravy at breakfast were delicious!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very nice and had good customer service
Cons: I didn't see any breakfast area nor was the parking lot shoveled/plowed which this morning we had some snow so it would have been nice note worrying about the parking lot

Cons: It was clean and quiet.
7.0 Good
Pros: The lady on staff Friday night and Saturday was very nice and helpful. Room was clean, good size for wheelchair accessibility.
Cons: We were a bit disappointed in the breakfast. Most hotels have a few more choices. Towels were kind of thin and they were scratchy.
1.0 Poor
Cons: The “breakfast” was horrible. No variety at all. Bread and bananas. For the money we paid it was a horrible experience. A light blanket in 20 degree weather!?! Towels that can only dry off a child. It was just not what you’d think for $300. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone.

1.0 Poor
Pros: Checking out was the only thing I liked about my stay at this facility.
Cons: At first I was booked into a room that was not supposed to be rented. It had missing lampshades and painters tape still in place. They moved me to another room the following day which appeared to have all the lamp shades. On final day I was in the room I witnessed German Cockroaches coming out of the housing for the shower control knobs. I asked about a discount for Triple AAA and showed them my card. I did not receive it. I did not receive a discount for the room I was given that I shouldn't have been. I did not receive it. The room I stayed in longest faced the highway and was very noisy. If you expect to be in a reasonably priced room that is clean and quiet with everything that should be in a hotel room such as lampshades I highly advise a different hotel.
