10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is a very homely kind of guest house, you can see the passion and years of care this place has been given. The host was very nice , informative and interactive , he was even playing the piano at one point. The room was very cosy , plenty of bathrooms and has a decent private bath. It has a kitchen with a variety of drinks and snacks on offer at a fair price.
Cons: Everything was great but it was just a little too quiet since not a lot of guests where there. I can imagine in high season this place would be a great place to stay for a few nights.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely view and a cool spot to visit Miyajima, really nice host people, Onsen and laundry available
Cons: A little far to walk from the ferry
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great spot in Miyajima. Easy to find and get to walking after the main shops. Really nice house with a garden. The host is very thoughtfull and offers noodles and frozen okonomiyaki in case you're hungry and don't want to go out. The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. It also had a sink. Shared bathroom was no issue at all and even a small onsen style bathroom was available for private use.
Cons: If you're not used to sleeping in a futon I recommend trying to use two :)
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The host, Junya, makes sure that I have enjoyable stay. He is passionate about Miyajima and keen to share the tips with you. There is a small bath which you can use privately. The breakfast is prepared since morning, probably around 7am. Since the house was on low occupancy, he offered choice to stay on bunk bed or Japanese-style dorm. I chose the Japanese-style. The bed is quite thin but overall it's quite comfy. There are few restaurants nearby and you beat the crowd to visit the shrine early in the morning.
Cons: I checked out on 31 Dec early morning and returned around 6pm to pick up my bag. Apparently the whole house was reserved by a big private group where they gathered in the common area. It was very awkward to excuse myself to the kitchen for washing hand, let alone to borrow the toilet, and they were similarly confused. Someone approached me saying the host has left for the day and I told them I just picked up my bag. It's not the host's fault but the experience was very uncomfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room and the view to the garden wasperfect! We even saw a wild tanuki during the night. The host prepared us a bath and treated us more than well.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: In central area Nice Japanese style room Restroom and shower are shared but very clean If you stay on island you just eat by 6pm. All restaurants will be closed by 6pm
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The guesthouse had a friendly, home-like feeling to it. Our Japanese-style room was old-fashioned and roomy. We had a large window with a nice view. There was a decent kitchen and a common space in the guesthouse. The staff were really helpful and nice, and they had a friendly cat hanging about the guesthouse. Guests have free instant coffee, teabags, soda, and drinking water. The included breakfast was simple consisting of cereal, granola, milk, break and butter, and, very surprisingly, also real old-fashioned rolled oats which meant we got to eat our favourite healthy breakfast just as back home.
Cons: There was a constant smell of an old cabin in the guesthouse, and the temperature inside was very cold. We had an a/c machine in the room, but adjusting the room temperature to a constant level was difficult especially when cold air gets in the room easily. I would say these are minor things but for the price there was room for improvement :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I like the staff / like the building. Design. Like the bedroom. I like the onsen.

Pros: Fantastic location, 2 mins away from the ferry port. The staff were lovely and very accommodating - not much English spoken but we managed to communicate well. we had a lovely room looking out onto the ferry port
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The lady the operated this Ryokan is so delightful. She welcomed us at the door when we arrived and showed us out when we left. The location is perfect, in the Main Street right where you disembark from the ferry. We could see the deer at night from our window. The room was big and the beds were the most comfortable futon we slept on in Japan. I would love to stay here again if ever I find myself back at Miyajima.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, just a stones throw from the ferry port. The owner is a very friendly and helpful woman, she greeted us and saw us off the next day with a smile! The room was very clean and the futons were the most comfortable we have slept on. We were allowed to leave our bags for a few hours after check out which was great too. We’d recommend this hotel to anyone!
Cons: We wish we could’ve stayed for longer!

Pros: This place is a gem. The location is superb, very close to ferry but out of the main tourist area. The rooms are spotless and the lady who runs the inn is so helpful, always smiling and happy. Such a nice place, would recommend to anyone who is visiting Miyajima.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. Very friendly lady on reception who brought us to the room, very clean room overlooking the sea and park. Bed was amazing, first time on futon bedding and would love to sleep on it more.
Cons: Nothing. The weather sucked on our visit so couldn't use the ropeway and it rained too along with the torii gate being fully blocked off. However we really enjoyed the inn and strolling around the island

Pros: The property was well located but outside of the Main Street so was nice and relaxing. The onsen was beautiful and a deer walked past when I was in the outside onsen. Food was traditional Japanese and very high quality. Breakfast was lovely in the breakfast room.
Cons: Nothing, it was a highlight of the trip and better (and cheaper) than the ryokan which we stayed in Kyoto.

Pros: This small hotel is located in the heart of Myajima. 2 minutes walk from the main shopping street and 5 minute walk to the famous Tori gate. It is spotless and is furnished with good taste. We had a room for 4, a family with 2 children, and the 2 joint bedrooms were separated by the sliding door. Bed, especially blankets!! we’re so comfortable. Shared bathroom and lavatory were not a problem. I never saw any other guests anyway, although the place was booked out. The lovely lady who runs the hotel speaks excellent English, is very helpful and a pleasure to deal with. Thank you for your hospitality . The hotel is 8 mins walk from ferry. I would definitely stay there again!

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Really love this tiny ryokan that is in the middle of the island. The stuff is really friendly and helpful, and it’s like a perfect Japanese style hotel, as said before.
Cons: Otherwise, prices are a bit high, but for sure everything it’s expensive on this island.

Pros: The place was absolutely beautiful. When we arrived at the JR Ferry terminal, we asked the information desk. They called the hotel and we waited 10 minutes to be picked up. The driver pointed out the places of interest as we were driven to the hotel. We were able to walk back the following day sight seeing as we returned to the ferry.
Cons: We wished we stayed more than one night.

Pros: Beautiful room and sea view. It was lovely to get to use the private onsen free of charge! Staff was the most friendly and helpful I've ever met, going as far as picking us up when we arrived and delivering our bags to the station when we left. Amazing overall experience!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Jukeiso is a traditional ryokan located near the woodlands and overlooking the sea and the famous Torii on Miyajima Island. It is perfect for visiting the main sites and the Miyajima Park. The traditional bedding on raised platforms was very comfortable and convenient for people hesitant about sleeping on the tatami covered floor. The staff were endlessly helpful and warm. Our Japanese evening meal and breakfast were delicious. The private onsen was an added bonus for westerners unused to public bathing. This is a special place. We will return.
Cons: No negatives

Cons: Quite expensive
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The room was nice and the breakfast was delicious. The food bath and onsen were marvelous.
Cons: We chose a superior category room but it was just in front of the "smoking terrace," so there were always people talking and laughing there. It was difficult to sleep as it was very noisy.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent and room was very large
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast and dinner were absolutely delicious! The staff were very accommodating and informative. The room where we stayed at is clean and spacious. Also, we had a free shuttle going to the hotel when we arrived in Miyajima and another free shuttle when we went back to the ferry station. It was very convenient. My best friend and I booked this hotel to celebrate my birthday in Miyajima. Hotel Kikunoya made my day extra special by surprising me with a birthday cake and a lively song while we are having dinner. It was truly memorable for me. I even cried because I was so touched. Thank you very much!

Pros: Staff was friendly, courteous n very helpful.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Large rooms with big beds
Cons: The restaurant is small and we could not get in for dinner. The restaurants outside of the hotel for dinner are remote.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a great place to stay. I've been to many Ryokans and this one ranks among the better ones (most of them are great, so that means something). It's location is great and we could see the Tori of the Itsukushima shrine from our Window. The food was great and the staff is very helpful. They also all speak English. The shuttle to/from the ferry is helpful if you come with heavy luggage.
Cons: I've seen nicer hot springs, but it is doing its job. And it is complaining on a very high level.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Atmosphere. Very traditional. Incredibly relaxing. I only had the smallest room but it had a lot of character and was very comfortable. A special place.
Cons: Nothing! It is very traditional so I didn't know what to do in some situations like wearing the clothes they provide you with around the hotel, but that didn't matter at all and the staff did their best to help with it!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The meals, especially the dinner was amazing. Excellent quality and presentation and we have been to many other ryokans before. This is comparable to the best ones. Room was spacious and the out door ofuro was a nice touch. Public bath was good too with outdoor and indoor baths.

Cons: no elevator and only have 1 bathroom on each floor
5.0 Okay
Pros: It was very close to miyajima ferry which is what we wanted to do and they held our luggage for us and took it to our room and carried them back down when we left. They were friendly.
Cons: Small rooms and lots of tiny stairs to get to room
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice hostel right next to the ferry station to Miyajima island. Not in Hiroshima but 30-40 minutes by JR train to Hiroshima station which is still a very okay distance in Japan. Excellent location if you plan to visit any sights on Miyajima island. Very good for 2 or 3 day stay. Staff is friendly and helpful and they seem to have events which we unfortunately did not have a chance to try as we were there at the beginning of a week in late November. This is probably why the hostel was quite empty and calm when we were there. Everything was clean and functional, however, some may not like the thin mattresses but I prefer those. All in all it is a nice place to stay and would definitely come back if I went to Miyajima again.
Cons: The only downsides are the loud lockers in the rooms which might be inconvenient when the dorms are full and the lack of hangers and/or hooks to hang clothes in the rooms and in the bathrooms but that seems to be a global trend these days.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly and helpful, there are cute self-drawing map copies available showing nearby restaurants and facilities. Bed was decent and clean. There is coin laundry at the ground floor. The location is great, just outside the ferry station. A very good alternative to the much more expensive hotels on the island.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The stuff was really friendly. Loved the location.

Pros: Friendly staff, nice, clean rooms, onsen. Book half board, it’s worth it!! Delicious!
Cons: We visited during the winter and the bath room wasn’t very easy to heat.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast and dinner included. All excellent, every day for 3 days.
Cons: Nothing.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was luxurious, very clean, huge and provided a lot of facilities. There is a small bar and tea area at the entrance of the hotel that's available to guests. Hot springs are located on the last floor and have a stunning view on the coast. Both breakfast and dinner were awesome: a lot of choice, ingredients were fresh and of good quality. There was western style and Japanese style options, everything was delicious! Drinks were included in the dinner, again, a lot of choice (beer, wine, sake, ...). As usual in Japan, the staff was very kind, nice and helpful.
Cons: Hot springs had a nice view but the bath itself had nothing special (no rocks or vegetation). However it seems to be the same in most indoor hot springs in Japan.

Pros: Very short walk from the pier, well-appointee onsen, rooms quiet and clean. Crisp front desk and clean explanations about everything. Regret couldn’t stay longer!
Cons: Breakfast could use some improvement.

We were two families with kids and was perfectly adapted for them.
Cons: Nothing, all perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Views from hotel, friendly staff
Cons: Would’ve helped if we had earlier breakfast options
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place was absolutely beautiful. When we arrived at the JR Ferry terminal, we asked the information desk. They called the hotel and we waited 10 minutes to be picked up. The driver pointed out the places of interest as we were driven to the hotel. We were able to walk back the following day sight seeing as we returned to the ferry.
Cons: We wished we stayed more than one night.
9.0 Excellent

Pros: A wonderful Japanese experience all round. Beautiful spacious room with fantastic view. The private outdoor Onsen under the stars with the view of the temple was amazing. The traditional food was delicious. Staff were excellent, very kind and helpful.

Pros: Everything from the welcoming visit to the fantastic breakfast with a view, from the dream rooftop onsen to the Michelin star level dinner. The staff is the kindest and most helpful, the cosmetic products are the best Japanese organic brand. I'm impressed
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent service, delicious foods served on trays.
Cons: The size of tables used to serve dinners and breakfasts for 2 persons is too large. And when covered with white table cloth, it gives an unattractive white expansive space. Cosiness of the dining room should be created with smaller tables, softer lighting and more appropriate music.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff treated you like a God. The beds were extremely nice, the onsen was beautiful with the outside bath. The food was one of the best that I have ever taken in my entire life and the view made it complete.
Cons: The room was pretty warm because the air conditioning was on heating. Everything was written in Japanese so I had no idea. However opening the window fixed the problem.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Superb location. I got a room with a fantastic Seaview. The room's interior design and decor are beautiful yet functional. Staffs are very attentive and friendly. Services are beyond expectations. Excellent traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner. Great variety of food made from local raw materials on the island. I definitely will come back and stay here again.

Pros: Friendly greeting. Great explanation of room and facilities. Food was fantastic. Location perfect. View from my room of the sea - beautiful!
Cons: Nothing to say.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were wonderful. The room was large and very clean. The Ryokan is a two minute walk from the ferry. I would recommend the Kaiseki dinner... it is so beautifully presented that it is almost a shame to eat it! The public bath was nice too.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Top for kindness, willingness, friendliness and professionalism. Very very appreciated the strain to anticipate for us breakfast starting time in order to let us take the ferry boat early in the morning.

Cons: Not much. A bit pricey, but it is worth it.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, nice, clean rooms, onsen. Book half board, it’s worth it!! Delicious!
Cons: We visited during the winter and the bath room wasn’t very easy to heat.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very short walk from the pier, well-appointee onsen, rooms quiet and clean. Crisp front desk and clean explanations about everything. Regret couldn’t stay longer!
Cons: Breakfast could use some improvement.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: They went above and beyond to find a missing item for me
Cons: Absolutely nothing. Service was amazing 10/10! More if possible!

Pros: Ideal location for everything. Great view from room. If planning on leaving island before 9am make sure you take advantage of the breakfast offered as there is nothing open.
7.5 Good
Pros: Best location on the island.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Basic but spacious Japanese style room with a great view straight out to the sea. Really good location. The Japanese mattress on the floor was really comfy and the duvet was nice and warm. The bathroom was small but perfectly formed.
Cons: We had a baby push chair and there was quite steep steps into the hotel from the street but there was a small lift to the floors once inside.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The location is excellent and the sea-view from the room is great.
Cons: The room was cold and the blankets too small. The en-suite bathroom was tiny and un-inviting.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had an absolutely beautiful tatami room with a balcony overlooking the sea with the ferry port within sight. The facility is spotless. The staff was very kind and helpful. It was a beautiful and peaceful stay.
Cons: The room is over the front porch where people smoked, so we could smell smoke from our room on the 4th floor.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I have booked one room without private lavatory. I guess because of off-season there are few people in the hotel so that I got one room with private bathroom. The staff is super friendly and breakfast is also great. If weather good you could enjoy the beautiful seascape in front of the door when having breakfast. At night there is onsen (hot spring) in the basement
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: Na
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We arrived a bit late while there wasn't much to do on the island. However, a friendly receptionist greeted us and explained where we can still get dinner. The room was clean and spacious. It was a japanese style room with tatami mats. So comfortable! We loved the location as it was very close to the temple and city streets with souvenirs and street food.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: We reserved two different types of rooms for our large group. One had beds and a cool onsen tub and the other was more simple. Both were clean and comfortable. We loved wearing the provided Japanese robes. We were also able to use the outside onsen which was awesome. This location is perfect.
Cons: I wish they had a private coed onsen on site.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room in Japanese stile is great!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were welcomed by the staff at this Japanese style hotel, invited to take our shoes off and pick out yukatas so we could comfortable in our room. They put our street shoes in the lockers at the door so they would be available when we wanted to go out. We had pajamas to wear as well. The best thing about this place was public bath for women. There is a separate one for men, too. The showers and baths were so clean and inviting. There is a terrace bath too. Equally as nice. This is the perfect place to relax and rejuvenate. There are massages available and saunas too. Japanese breakfast is delicious. This was a treasure!
Cons: Nothing.
7.5 Good
Pros: 5 mins walk to the shopping street, 15 mins walk to the Toji and Misen.
Cons: Probably not the best place for a night in Miyajima but will do for an early rise to Misen.
5.8 Okay
Cons: Food was not at all good. Coffee horrible. Dark place. Japanese room a joke
