Everything, all was perfect and for the second time I was very pleased !
Ambiance- lovely location
Lots of mosquitoes even in bedroom. Then there was the breakfast problem: breakfast was not available before 8- however I had chosen the option breakfast ; as I had to pay at the hotel I suggested that they take the breakfast of the bill. They said booking . Com wouldn't allow that. They said someone would make sure to get me breakfast at 6:15. Not so.was thus made to pay for a breakfast I never got. Credit card machine not working and no ATM machine nearby
The location was amazing, so quiet and original! Only birds and local fisherman. Not touristic at all, with the mangrove forest at your doorstep. The house and our room were beautiful and clean, a lot of nice details to make it home-y. We loved the food and the free kayaks, also the scooter we rented was good price-value and easy to get around with. Make sure to check out the southern parts of the island rather than the west coast! Also, we used the massage service as well as the Jacuzzi (for a little extra payment - worth it!) and the attic relaxing area, were you can read in hammocks and enjoy the view.
On our arrival day there was nobody present who spoke proper English, and the desk was closed - overall no problem, but we would have liked some more information on a few things. The person present was super friendly and tried his best though! Overall, the level of communication could be improved: guests could be asked beforehand when and if they want eat, so nobody needs to wait in vain. Another idea would be a small pool or similar to cool down in the afternoon or evening - not a must, but it would be nice bonus.
Just like any other tourist who comes to the island Koh Chang, I thought I had to spend my holiday in the western part. Because I didn’t really like the rubbish on the side of the road and seeing a lot of western faces, I booked the Mangrove Hideaway on the other side of the island. Since I am travelling alone, it was a bit risky to book an accommodation like this in such a ‘remote’ area. But on the contrary. I could use the bikes from Mangrove Hideaway for free every day, so just explored this part of the island on my own. Kayaks as well, to ship myself into the mangrove forest. I Since I am only 28 years old and traveling alone, it’s very much a decent place to stay. Don’t expect to meet other backpackers. As it was not my goal to make such friendship here, but rather enjoy the Thai life, it was an excellent choice. My daily laugh I shared with the manager. He’s funny! The rooms are very clean, the service was very good and the breakfast is delicious. One thing I would change if I could go backwards: I would go out for dinner more in the evening. At first glance I reckoned there wouldn’t be any restaurants in the surrounding area. Not true. In front of the temple nearby there’s an excellent little restaurant with great pad Thai Much more cheap!
The prices of breakfast and dinner are a bit expensive and could be lower.
