Shantaa Koh Kood - Ko Kut - Bedroom

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Shantaa Resort in Ko Kood, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Klong Chao Beach and Ao Tapao Beach. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: STUNNING property! Clean, comfortable and beautiful! Wish we stayed longer
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Shantaa is a great place to relax and have a good time. The location of the property is amazing with lots of trees and the bungalows with a lot of space between each other. The staff and the owners are extremely friendly and try to help with every problem/questions. The restaurant and the bar offer great food and drinks. Even if the beach itself is not huge, the area is really nice with lots of trees and sand. Also for snorkelling the place can be recommended. Kayaks are available for free. There is also a second more remote beach for relaxing. Further there is a large public beach across the pier.
Cons: On some days there were people who did not stay at the hotel on the beach. Even if there was still enough place, some of them were a bit annoying. The staff should be a bit more cautious on that.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The resort is super beautiful and peaceful. The food is excellent, great breakfast is served to the table according to your order. Our room was beautiful and had a nice ocean view.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Just Perfect !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The impeccable grounds serve as a calming and nearly unreal backdrop for the high-quality luxury rooms, terrace restaurant, and beachside facilities. The staff provides excellent service that displays a firm understanding of all customers’ expectations. The rooms are solidly-constructed small houses that are furnished with 5-star king beds, large armours, and tasteful decor. Our favorite part was the outdoor bathroom. This large and masterfully decorated outdoor patio is complete with two-person bathtub and free-standing shower. The area is big enough to walk around and the entire enclave is decorated with professional gardening, giving the sensation of a luxurious garden oasis. The water fixtures are solid and spray piping hot or chilly water immediately on-demand. At bed time, I noticed a small but important detail: the high-quality bed lamps’ cords are firmly wired at just the right position to turn off/on, with the switch mechanism solidly fixed in just the right, reachable spot without sliding around. This kind of attention to small details is par for the course at Shantaa. The doors click perfectly into place creating a mosquito-free seal, rare among even 4- and 5-star resorts. You will happily encounter example after example of this thoughtful attention to the small (but big) things that make for such a pleasant and relaxing stay at Shantaa. With an excellent menu, the terrace restaurant is an impressive and fulfilling experience throughout the stay. The amazing breakfast features fresh juices, great coffee, and a robust menu including perfectly small and fluffy banana pancakes, eggs and omelets, and beautiful Khao Tom just to mention a few. Lunches and dinners are amazing as well. The beach area, though small, is wonderfully private and provides ample swimming and snorkeling opportunity. Although the snorkeling can be better at other spots around the island, it’s pretty good. Shantaa is excellent for both paddle boarding and kayaking.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: amazing resort with nice garden. I loved the layout and grounds of the resort - a style and feeling you can only find in asia. You never have the feeling, that it is crowded, whether you are at the north/ south beach, the sunset deck or your villa. We stayed at a villa with seaview, and we very much enjoyed relaxing on the bean bags on the porch. Staff is very friendly, breakfast is great, and restaurant the food is amazing and not overpriced for a resort as such!
Cons: you can swim on the south beach, right next to the pier, but the stretch is quite narrow. the best (and wider) beach to swim is behind the pier. So to get there, you just have to walk a few meters over the pier. We didn’t mind this at all, but some might. we loved watching live unfold on the pier towards the of the day, with locals gathering, eating and fishing.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic room with view. Very profesional and nice staff
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a wonderful, quiet resort with beautiful bungalows that include a delightful private outdoor garden with shower or soaking tub, excellent service and delicious food, acres of beautiful walks and gardens, a small private beach with appealing snorkeling, and a large, wide, sandy beach just south of the property. While I did explore the island a bit, as I would usually do, I would have been equally satisfied to stay at the resort the whole time and still not felt I had missed the culture. It requires a bit of off-the-beaten-path travel to get here, so there were no tour groups around. Other guests were primarily European, many of them in their 30s, some with baby or toddler in tow. But there was plenty of space for all to enjoy, with dozens of quiet platforms, day beds, swings and hammocks at various lookouts along the property, and a private beach bar. While there was no pool, I didn't miss it for a moment. Many gather at night along the property edge to watch the spectacular sunsets. I plan to make this a yearly trip.
Cons: From, say, Bangkok, travel requires a flight to the tiny (but lovely) Trat airport, a long taxi ride to a ferry, and another longish ferry ride to Koh Kut (it is apparently also possible to hire a van from Bangkok to the ferry dock), with possibly a final taxi to the resort (though my small book simply docked at the resort). I'm not sure any of this is a negative, really--those who make this effort will be fully rewarded!
9.2 Excellent
Cons: Beach-the pier☺️
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a place to stay! Quiet and beautiful. Very friendly and helpful. Good food and a good thai massage. Love to come back asap!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Best service in Thailand, as for me. Beautiful territory. Really professional massage. Really interesting rooms, with a lot of cute things. Bathroom at the open air is the new dream of my life - respect for designers!

Pros: Proximity to the beach, and the privacy of the area. Great resort, and we will be sure to come back one day. Fully recommend it to anyone, and especially couples or small families.
Cons: Wifi was terrible, but yet again who goes on a tropical island for the wifi.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Its was nice and comfortable and the staff were very helpful.
Cons: I liked it there but the only thing was that there isnt any phones in the room so no room service we have to walk to them all the time if we want something.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: the Villa location, private pool and lounge area.
Cons: Property is getting a bit faded now and could do with some refurbishment in the bathroom, and electric wiring etc.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful spot, the best food and great friendly staff we will be back next year!!
Cons: Nothing it was everything I had hoped for
7.0 Good
Pros: I can't say it is the best value for the money as the hotel is bit overpriced nd the quelity is really avarage. But what makes the stay on Ko Kood amazing is the nature, beaches, absolutely uncrowded and for Thailand relatively clean environment. So if you have enough money and don't know how to spend them pay for overpriced hotel. If not choose definitely another one for much better price in a such same or event better place on Ko Kood. Ko Kood is amazing. The best island I ever visited in Thailand.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice hotel in a dream location.
7.0 Good
Pros: -general location of the hotel -the beach (even though not natural) -the view from the beach -availability of SUP and kajaks
Cons: -the sense villas are not 70 sqm big as stated on booking.com (max. 50 sqm (inside) and 65 sqm incl. outdoor terrace and outdoor bath tub) -we didn't get 2 sunbeds even though they were part of the booked villa and we weren't offered some after telling the reception -little privacy: bushes around the villas are not closing off enough from other people (see through-> we didn't want to lie in the bathtub outside), walkway for almost all guests right next to the villas (-> a lot of traffic and therefore sounds), space between all the facilities is much less than expected -there is a construction site close by; it affects the sense villas the most; working from morning to evening -> For all of these reasons we talked to the reception which could not give us another villa since they were fully booked (which is understandable). Afterwards we contacted the hotel manager through e-mail and asked for a fair refund. There were to reminders necessary to get a reply and they offered an upgrade for the next stay...hmmmm...not quite the right approach, we think. -chef of the hotel restaurant is NOT good, food somewhere else is much better!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic stuff, great food, lovely beach!
Cons: Lizards in the room ;)
6.3 Good
Pros: Location scenery is great
Cons: 1.They allow pets and the dogs eat on the table with human. For whom doesnt like pet, strongly do not recommend..I just discovered at the 3rd day. 2. They allow non-guests to enjoy beach lounge chairs by only order 1-2 drinks while they charged us as guest when we brought our own drinks.. however we did not entirely consume only our drinks (a dozen of beers for 5 days that we brought along) and spent 12000 THB on food and beverage there. Basically though the food is super salty, no variety of good wines,we had 4 nights dinner there. 3. Head staff at BBQ station has a big attitude. Long face all the time and made stupid mistake just only corn. I HAD to walk there twice asking for cooking it properly..1st time - uncooked, 2nd - corn came back dry, burnt and hard like a rock(literally) 3 rd time I walked back with corn in my hand and he looked at me like I did something wrong.

Pros: This is a beautiful place!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff of the hotel are very polite, the service is very good, the scenery is very beautiful, we rent a motorcycle and a handsome guy who helps us to drive a motorcycle. It is also very friendly. Thanks to him, I will come again next time. I regret not taking a photo with him. haha
Cons: Everything is perfect
8.8 Excellent
Pros: There was certainly plenty of room around the resort and the pool was very nice. People were helpful and friendly. The outdoor shower did away with the smelly drain issue you often get in SE Asia.
Cons: Furniture a bit old and tired. Probably not for anyone who wasn’t capable of walking very far. It was a bit of a hike from the restaurant back to the room.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything, super nice staff, very beautiful rooms, garden, pool
Cons: I would have liked to have a separating door between the 2 rooms of our family bungalow.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great resort in a quiet part of the island. The young and friendly staff are really good and very helpful. We enjoyed our 4 days at Beach resort, especially sitting in the evening watching the sundown while tasting their cocktails. It was magical! The bungalows are really nice and have great views over the sea. The little private white sand beach is a bonus but we also enjoyed the very large swimming pool.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Peaceful place. Plus the Thai food here is really good. Staffs are nice and helpful
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location and facilities with garden setting and own small private beach. Kayaks, snorkeling mask and bicycles can be borrowed for free.
Cons: Nothing really
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful and friendly staff Lovely food throughout the day. Excellent boat trip and massage facilities. Amazing snorkelling from the resort.
Cons: Would have loved a few more facilities e.g. gym , yoga etc. Pool was deep for smaller kids and not enough sun loungers.

Pros: All staff are very nice and helpful...good service!
Cons: None
7.5 Good
Pros: Everything. Lovely hammocks by the river, super beaches you can reach with the free kayaks, friendly reception, nice drinks and fabulous food.
Cons: Pillows were a bit too thick.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location was fantastic
Cons: Bugs in the bedsheets.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel itself is in a lovely location. The mini pool with the room was fantastic, allowing you to take a dip whilst watching the sunset over the sea. The staff were very friendly. The bartender on staff clearly loves his job and made the best cocktails I've had in Thailand. The restaurant food was good, with an excellent selection of freah seafood. The private beach (accessible by kayak) is very nice also.
Cons: The room was a little basic considering how high the price was. The breakfast was also disappointing; little choice and not so tasty. No freshly brewed coffee was available on site in the mornings; only instant.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Amazing! Its the definition of paradise! But be prepared for calm! No restaurants (more then the hotels) and no shopping.
Cons: The only wrong was to have to leave! We will definitely come back.

Featured amenities include a computer station, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. A roundtrip airport shuttle and a ferry terminal shuttle are provided for an additional charge.
7.5 Good
Pros: Beach, Beach Bar Staff, Location
Cons: Hotel speed boat out of service. Mouldy smelling pillows and bedding. Even after complaining the problem was not fixed. The time it takes to have room cleaned was ridiculous, one day we requested room to be cleaned at 8:30am it was finally cleaned at 4pm. There is also a lack of wine and food available. Numerous times throughout the stay we were told sorry we don’t have. Even Greek Salad was sorry we don’t have feta cheese. This is the 3rd time I have stayed at this hotel and it seems to be going downhill. This Hotel needs to make sure they have plenty stock to cater for what they show in the food and drinks menu.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location with lovely beach, the sea and surroundings are the best I’ve seen in Thailand since I’ve lived here for 15 years, Beach Bar staff were very good and also entertaining the children.
Cons: Smell (mould smell) on the bed sheets, some days the rooms were not cleaned until 4-5PM, so disturbing if you want an afternoon nap. Charge is too high for an extra bed and breakfast for a child. Many items on menu not available because of missing ingredients. I have stayed here for 3 years in a row, this year it seems to have started to go downhill, it would be a terrible shame if they cannot keep it to the levels it was at for the years before.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic in every way.
Cons: Nothing
7.1 Good
Pros: It was in a beautiful setting and the rooms were large and nicely designed, if a bit weathered. certain staff members were just an absolute joy. Going over and above expectations...especially when trying to find a channel to watch the Rugby World Cup final
Cons: The food and breakfast offering was just disappointing. Staff in general just need better training . It just is not what you would expect for the price. It’s kind of dated and just not on par with 5* hotels in this price bracket.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a first class resort, in an idealic location with the most welcoming, friendly, polite staff. The location is private, quiet and right on the beach. The rooms are exceedingly spacious with a sitting area, king size bed, and huge bathroom with a grand tub and a waterfall shower. This five star resort is well worth the price, and again a wonderful respectful, welcoming staff.
Cons: Nothing! Everything was “perfect”.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Having lived in Thailand for 20 years I can honestly say this is as good a beach front as you’ll find - clean, unpolluted and wonderful soft sand with safe shallow water perfect for the kids. Staff are wonderful and nothing was too much trouble.
Cons: There’s remedial work going on but it didn’t affect us - it was done out of sight and after being open for five years it’s good to see the owners investing in the upkeep
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The beach are so beautiful. Sunset is magnificent here.
Cons: Food are extremely expensive! Stir-fired basil with pork and rice 350฿! Bua-Loy 180฿! Ridiculous!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I've stayed at a few other places on Ko Kood in the past, and this was by far my best experience. The staff were beyond friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The pool and facilities had everything we could possibly want and were beautiful, clean, and accessible. The resort provides as much or as little structure as you want (we prefer to adventure on our own, and they offered all the complimentary kayaks, fishing poles, towels, etc. we could ask for). The room was beautiful, clean, and comfortable and we were so sorry to leave. I wouldn't say it's a budget option, but the value for money really delivers and the amount included with your stay makes it worthwhile (especially for unwinding at the end of a whirlwind trip).
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is well located on one of the best beaches on the island. There are several dining / lunch alternatives or even massages and other activities for those who don't want to be limited to the hotel.
Cons: The fact that each room has a private pool unfortunately implies the noise of the machines that filter the water all night long. It would be great to improve this or be able to turn off at night. I still slept well but I believe some people with lighter sleep may have difficulties.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place is literally on the beach!! When you walk along the beach at night you can also find other places to eat but the staff was so helpful even thought the reception was shut the came out and booked us a taxi to go to a nearby restaurant! If you’re traveling from Bangkok and need a car they send you the resort car and make the bookings for you for the boat as well! Before coming I read some reviews and was honestly quite nervous that it may not be as it seemed but it was such a wonderful place with a great location and amazing staff!!
7.9 Good
Pros: Excellent and friendly staff. Swimming pool and beach are marvellous
Cons: Breackfast is very basic.bathroom and room very basic for thos price
7.9 Good
Pros: Beautiful peaceful beach, crystal clear water There are some coral reefs just in front of the hotel Free toast, coffee and tea you can eat all day long Free activities such as kayaking and snorkeling Free shuttle from another hotel
Cons: Not that clean bedsheets, found some dust and insects Some staffs are not so friendly and not professional since this is a family run business
6.0 Good
Pros: Nice location nice beachbar
Cons: The staff was polite but seemed to ignore you more interested in their mobile phone.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quite, clean, close to great beach, nice staff
Cons: Breakfast could have been more varied. It was ok but not great.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff was friendly and very helpful. We loved the breakfast and enjoyed the food overall. The location is excellent with a great sunning and swimming beach. We explored many other resorts while we were there and were glad we chose the Medee.
Cons: Pads were thin for the hard lounge chairs.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The best accommodation we were staying during our Thailand trip! Eveybody is so nice, police and helpful. Especially the smiling lady, I don't remember her name, but it begins with S and you just can't not notice her. The location is perfect, just in front of the beach which is btw our favourite on the whole island. There is beautiful palm swing there and dock with romantic lightning at the evening. The breakfast is nice- modest, but tasty and various. You can eat breakfast/lunch/dinner or just drink a cocktail on the sand, and enjoy the view, which is prefect! The room is clean and cosy, you have your own deck in front of it. If we ever return to Thailand, this will be our first stop for sure! Highly reccommended because this is not just an accommodation, this is a beautiful experience :).
Cons: Maybe some clothes hangers, shelves are missing in the room. Nothing more!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The garden cottages were nice and comfortable. I liked the fact they were placed ‘randomly’ and not in a grid. Although they were close together, because of the massive plants between them, you had a lot of privacy. As it was green season we were only with a handful of guests, which was great! The staff was extremely nice and helpful. They rent scooters, it’s only a bit more expensive than a independent rental place, but much more convenient. I recommend this place, definitely in green season.
Cons: In the evenings during dinner time the owner with her husband (?) came over for dinner. The husband was rude and impolite to the staff: ignoring them when they asked him something, changing tables after they served him, watching videos on his phone for all of us to hear. This made us feel uncomfortable. But as the staff and the place was great, this one downside should not make you prevent from going here.
7.9 Good
Pros: Very clean and cozy room, friendly staff, perfect beach!
Cons: Poor internet connection
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very happy with our stay which we ended up extending one night. The hostess used to work at Soneva Kiri north on the island so she really knows how to make you feel welcome. Very nice bungalows. Housekeeping did a great job and the breakfast was very good. The beach is just great and very relaxed. Snorkeling was surprisingly good! Especially since no one mentioned this area when we asked for good snorkeling spots on the island.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Located on a gorgeous beach, yet still had a peaceful, quiet, and relaxed atmosphere. The staff was amazing, helpful, and always friendly. Our favorite was the chef, with her big always-smile!
Cons: Hard to say anything negative about MeDee... Maybe that the breakfast selection became a bit boring after a couple of days, but the breakfast itself was perfectly decent!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were amazing. The room and the location were awesome, but the staff always tried their very best to make our visit a special one. I am vegetarian, and they always tried to make my choices delicious and prevent or fix any errors in my requests. Their attitudes and kindness—each and every person’s—make me want to return to this specific place.
Cons: If they remain committed to client care then nothing needs to change; just be sure to learn from each small mix-up.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We absolutely loved the beach! It is one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen. The staff was very nice, helpful and friendly - you have to keep in mind, that the younger staff is still in training, nevertheless they are doing their very best to make you feel welcome. We also loved the uncomplicated and reasonably priced motorbike rental.
Cons: Unfortunately, the WiFi connection was unreliable and oftentimes weak in the room. However, there were comfy sitting areas in the lounge with better connection.

6.0 Good
Pros: * Location on a beautiful scenic postcard beach bay * Good breakfast * Relaxed ambient * Not crowded * Good cocktails * Good AC * Kind Staff * Kind and playful dogs (we miss you Gigi!!) * Everyday room cleaning with towel change and shampoo / shower gel / bottled water refills. * Beach daily clean-up (water)
Cons: * Mosquito net provided with holes, after asking for a replacement, the new one was put in a way that could not be tucked under the matters, rendering the mosquito net useless. * Laziness of the staff (not cleaning used glasses / plates) specially on Beach bar area * Dirty / not taken care premises - In general the premises walls are dirty with stains. * Shortage of food / drinks - Coconuts and Pizzas were available only sometimes and when available you might get a "we have only one pizza.." * No fruit variety (only 2) for breakfast. * Expensive motorbike rental (400BHT per day) - we get 200BHT per day somewhere else (motorbike is a must here as this resort is remotely located)
6.0 Good
Pros: The bay right on the beach !!! Coffee !
Cons: Poor hygiene... cook who prepared b fast hat long dirty nails that was disgusting, some plates chipped glasses not cleaned properly, really poor breakfast.. There are big holes in the room in the corners so you can expect lizards or rats coming into your room ... I have found bed bucks on the mattress too .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place was a little slice of heaven! It exceeded all our expectations, and almost seemed too good to be true! Will definitely be back in a few years with our daughter, who stayed with grandma ;-) My husband and I only stayed 5 nights as we travelled without her, and recommend you stay at LEAST a week! Snorkelling at the resort is a must, and the highlight of our stay. Thanks to all the staff who went out of their way to make our stay really special :-)
Cons: If I was to be really picky, I'd say the included breakfast could be better.. I didn't like the coffee (a nescafe machine), and more choice would have been appreciated. Two mornings we actually just skipped breakfast. The restaurant however is exceptional, we tried many dishes, and lovers of fish, were spoiled rotten :-)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staffs/ Foods and location
6.0 Good
Pros: Location is just perfect
Cons: Quality of food and service quality not where it should be in that price segment
4.2 Okay
Pros: Access to the pristine waters of the bay was right off the front of the property from the wooden deck. Snorkeling in the rocks and coral was a highlight of the 3 days.
Cons: it will not be to stay at Koh Kood Resort. Whilst the Bang Bao bay is beautiful, there are better options to stay at there. Our bungalow was comfortable and there had been some recent investment in the mattress, pillows and aircon unit. The bathroom was also fairly new. Large and well appointed with a decent shower and water pressure, Not sealed to the local wildlife though so the joining door had to be kept closed to limit the mosquitoes in the main room. The main room itself was actually not much better with large gaps in the walls and in at least one spot, the floor. The breakfast buffet food was very average yet the ordered food from menu during the day was pretty good. Didnt try the massage as it was not inspiring at all being basically in the common area of reception and dining. And right next to the kitchen. For the NY gala that we got gouged for (like every other hotel in THL) was staffed by people (many not much more than teenagers) with little or no training or clue. For the remainder of the stay it was not much better and lacked much in the way of professionalism.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I Love everything about that place. Our bungalow was in front of the beach so I could see this awesome view every morning. The resort was in good location because the sun was there all day long, till sunset. Beautiful scenery. The bungalow was nice and clean. Housekeeper clean everyday so you can have clean towel and neat bed. The bed was very comfy. The breakfast which was in price of room was tasty, everyday day there was some Thai food, Musli, and some egg dishes, juices, coffee and tea. The dinner they Serve are also delicious and I totally loved the drink they have on the BQ Bar. The stuff is friendly and helpful although their English is rather basic.
Cons: Nothing to add here.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Really nice hotel, the location and the beach are amazing! The staff is really helpful and we love the staff from the bar.

7.9 Good
Pros: GREAT Location. Reception was very helpful in scooter rentals and ferry booking witch included free transportation to and from the Hotel
Cons: We had reserved 2 rooms. Only guests in the hotel. Leaving in the morning after breakfast. The rooms were still not cleaned by lunchtime. While using the pool. We had all the staff relaxing in the villa next to the pool watching us. Reception and kitchen staff were very kind and friendly. Cleaning and ground staff need serious training.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: This place has huge potential to become even a stylish boutique resort. Very nice setting with beautiful bay scenery, decent number of nice bungalows, cute pool, ok breakfast with egg bar, friendly staff.
Cons: The resort seems to now focus on catering mainly for wealthy Thai tourists but Ko Kood is changing and attracts a growing number of farangs, too. Obviously the friendly staff needs more training for "over-attending" and discreet service typical for quality Thai resorts. Also language skills should be improved. The restaurant facilities indoors and especially outdoors need to be totally renovated to keep people dining at the resort, not in the neighbors. The bungalows need to be regularly maintained and also the small details to be taken into account to keep the standard high.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff give good recommend and they are very friendly. Nice beach Bad thing is they let drone fly free but they provide outdoor bathroom!!!
4.6 Okay
Pros: Only staffs at the hotel were nice and friendly. At least they were trying to deliver our requests.
Cons: The quality of everything. Breakfast section extremely needs to be improved. The quality could tell how much you care your guests. When we moved to the next room which was more expensive. We expected something better but not at all. We couldn’t use any Wifi, we heard the mouse ran on the roof. The shower was broken like the first room we stayed at first.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were amazing
7.0 Good
Pros: Very comfortable beds, amazing views right out of the room, very peaceful place. Young and pleasant staff. Would recommend for someone who wants to stay for a weekend.
Cons: Staff were young and very kind, however, very inexperienced, only few staff members knew any English, did not looked like they had any proper training and we almost felt bad for them. Internet practically non existent, at the best you would get couple of hours of very slow internet per day. Scooters were in very poor shape, broken mirrors, faulty brakes (they did replaced scooter with faulty brakes). Breakfast was decent at the best, however, on the weekend we got really good breakfast (maybe it had to do with the fact that hotel owners or leaders were present that weekend). It is not a bad hotel but does not live up to its price. We eventually moved to different hotel and we are pretty sure we are not coming back any time soon.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very great and beautyfull view and place very few people quite place ! Also the outdoor shower is awesome.
Cons: Laundry lost one jacket, Breakfast and food in restaurant is medium tasty and high price better go outside to eat
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great support of staff, nice location, good scenary, good facilities
Cons: Uncertain rule of borrowing ka yak, low signal of wifi and mobile
5.0 Okay
Pros: The beach is one of the best on the island, great views, 3 or 4 bars, not busy, beautiful location. The resort looks promising from the outside but scratch beneath the surface and you will find it's not what it makes itself out to be.
Cons: This place could be great but the owner doesn't seem to care. We booked a beach front room - didn't get one (they blamed Booking.com) but were offered 25% discount or a full refund if we wanted to stay somewhere else, not easy with a family at 5pm. The room had no draws or cupboards so our clothes ended up on a heap on the floor. The resort itself has no beach but has a half arsed attempt at some hard ground decking. There are bizarrely only 4 loungers and 2 of them are broken. The bar and restaurant are practically non existent, we ate next door or jumped on motorbikes to other places around the corner. Talking to the staff the owner, who lives in Bangkok, is interested in making money and not too much about consumer experience. I would suggest that anyone looking at staying on this beach try the other resorts first. It put a stain on our stay - it wasn't cheap and feels like a missed opportunity.

Overview Reviews
Away Koh Kood is the epitome of an island hideaway. The resort features spacious bungalow villas, with private terraces and sea views from every room. The resort has the largest activity center on the island, so guests can enjoy not only the beauty and peacefulness of the resort, but also everything the island has to offer.
7.1 Good
Pros: This place is a paradise! The view is breathtaking! Amazing!!
Cons: The ants! I have got so many bites on my body and worse if you leave anything on the floor or left opened bag of snacks on the floor by morning there would be an entire ants armies in your room.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Good located close to to nice Beach which you Resch by Cayak in 1 Minute
Cons: Bungalows are no more in Good condition, bathroom/shower not nice at all, would not come back to this resort, Prices far to high for what you get
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very nice location and pretty much comfortable to stay, super cool staff so friendly and helpful <3
7.0 Good
Pros: Clean, well equipped, excellent location (if oceanfront) and nice employees.
Cons: Salty and very weak water. TV channels almost invisible.
7.9 Good
Pros: The staffs are nice. The view point from the resort is great. There are some activities such as kayaking, diving, fishing. Breakfast is also good.
Cons: The property is quite worn-out. The toilet looks scary in some-point. The door and window of the toilet are rusty. Lights are too dim.
5.8 Okay
Pros: As above take feet to help prevent sandflie bites.
Cons: Good cabins, helpful staff. Good for kids. No real beach on the shoreline. But a sandy island about 30 MTs away. Sand flies quite bad, but no warnings from resort.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Nice views
Cons: Cleanliness
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The rooms have very nice views and are also very romantic at night, staff is very kkndand friendly and helpfull and location is also very good close to the beach and the river and some lovely food restaurants!
Cons: Food is expensive in the restaurant in the resort and for breakfast when you wake up little bit late and go to breakfast at 9:30 you will get that the fruit juice and the water is not cold and some some products on the buffet will be empty also. Also the pool area is not like expected like on the photo on booking.com it’s very small pool, i think if the resort will ulgrade there pool area and put some more effort in the breakfast this is one of the best stays on Koh Kood for sure

7.0 Good
Pros: The cleanliness, the pool, the style of the cabines, the fact it was on the beach and the affordability. The bathroom was very nice, the shower was rather good in comparison to other resorts.
Cons: Although well intentioned and nice in general, the receptionist is a bit weird and not very smart if not versed in English almost at all. The beach is not practicable because of the rocks.
1.0 Poor
Pros: Plub Pla Koh Mak Retreat has great rooms which were very tidy. The great outdoor shower is a great experience and one of the pro's of the room. The bed match with the european standards, good mattress with great pillows.
Cons: What we didn't liked is that we booked for a room with seaview on this resort. But our room didn't match with that because we had a garden view with huge trees instead of a room close to the sea. When we told this to the staff at the reception we felt unheard and they did nothing with the feedback. Our request to talk with the manager was neglected as well. The second thing which ruins our stay at the resort was the service from the restaurant. Orders were taking a lot of time( a drink took 30 minutes) and on the second day of our staying it took 75 minutes to serve us fries. While everybody at the restaurant got their food served. Also were orders served separately so we never had a proper dining experience.Feedback got answered with: '' Yes Yes'' because many of the staff were Birmese with barely any knowledge of English or Thai. One of the examples was: we ordered a Fanta, the staff member didn't understand. Instead of asking a other colleague he started to serve other people and neglected us. The guy which work at the reception and restaurant is not a trustworthy guy, He took the blame for the delays as described before and promised we did not have to pay for that. When we checked out it was on our check anyways and they refused to remove it. The check out proces was a unpleasant experience. They were not apologizing at all and start to scream that we needed to pay. We felt really unsafe. Our request to talk with the manager was neglected again. Overall problem: The restaurant didn't match with the standards you expect from a resort, the big problem is that the staff is untrained and can't speak english or thai. Lot of mistakes are made were to customer need to pay for. There is zero a feeling of serve people and give people a nice stay. Staff is only trained how to write your orders on your check.
9.0 Excellent
Cons: That from timeo to time they didn't have some things that were on the menu in restaurant but it is expected due to it is an island.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Amazing infinity pool! Great , peaceful location. Small beach with some stones, we preferred the pool. Delicious breakfast, you can choose between different menus. Some of the bungalows in the first row have a perfect, unblocked view of the sea and their own jacuzzi! All other bungalows have partly blocked sea view, but great well maintained garden.
Cons: Uninterested, non-english speaking owner lady Scooters cost 300 Baht plus fuel per day - more expensive and older scooters than other places, no helmet provided for rental Pick-up service at the pier was weird, no driver with a sign like from other hotels, you have to ask for the hotel driver
5.8 Okay
Pros: the pool is very nice, the water temperature is great and the view was wonderful.
Cons: there's no tv in the room as promised, no telephone to contact the reception so anytime you need something you have to walk there. there was no light in the shower (there were no light bulbs), the outside shower didnt even work, the pressure of the water in the shower inside was so light it was almost impossible to take a shower. also, there wasnt a place to hang the tap, it was broken.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful, private location. Very clean and helpful staff. We paid extra for the spa bath room on the beach, I would highly recommend for a couple as the sunrise laying in the bath was amazing and so relaxing. This place is perfect if your looking to just chill out and be away from everything. Very good WiFi and breakfast.
Cons: Slightly overpriced for food, message etc but to be expected when there’s nothing else around within walking distance but you can hire a moterbike from the hotel. No hairdryer or coffee making facilities and a few little things needed fixing in our room.

2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Food was good and friendly owner
Cons: Resort was outdated and could use some renovation and was only worth 1/4th of the price we payed. It was a rip off. We had hotels that are only 1/2 or 1/4 of the price here on the island that are 10 times nicer. Loud ac, hard bed, 2 single beds instead of 1 double bed, no wifi in the rooms, outdated room, outdated sanitary instalations,... . Just book another resort than this one. You will find plenty other options on the island were you get value for your money.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Restaurant was outstanding - some of the best Thai food I've had. The resort was in an excellent position, and the staff couldn't have been more pleasant or helpful.
7.9 Good
Pros: Nice place.... friendly Staff. Execenlt view over the Beach...
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: The location of this resort is good.
Cons: The room is neither clean nor comfortable at all.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Amazing view, peaceful and quiet area. Good location, easy to get both south and north parts of the island (by scooter that you can rent at the hotel at a good price). Our bungalow (we stayed in Horizon) was preety nice, clean and comfy. Helpful staff.
Cons: Breakfasts leave much to be desired.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Location by the sea AC working well
Cons: Bungalow: Dirty and smelly water in bathroom/shower. Had to buy myself and use bottled water instead. Dirty and worn down bungalow with cobwebs in the corner and not clean. Dirty bathroom with constant water on the floor and with frog in plumbing. Bed not comfortable enough with hard mattress and hard/big pillows. Facilities: Old and worn down facilities that need upgrade. No chairs on the beach Places to suntan are old and dangerous to use. Not good value for money Staff not friendly enough and not very attentive. A lot of garbage, leaves and brown palm branches on the area A lot of plastic and garbage on the shoreline. A lot of cats Restaurant: Limited menu Chairs uncomfortable Bugs are living in the table Old and worn down Nice view of the sea Overall assessment: Asked for an upgrade due to conditions of bungalow on arrival, but was ignored. This is not the standard of a 3-star resort that they claim to have. The pictures are not representative for the actual experience and you pay just to much for a bad holiday experience. My personal advice is that if you can avoid to stay at this resort that’s the best. Just forget this resort when traveling to Kho Kood. Maybe it is a little cheaper than the others, but this resort will give you so much more problems/bad holiday experience than another one. There are a lot of other nice places that will give you more value for your money. Probably one of my worst holiday experience traveling Asia for many years.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great sea view. Very romantic. Bar view also beautiful.
6.3 Good
Pros: The location, Friendly owner
Cons: Not Clean, bed bugs
5.4 Okay
Pros: Met a great couple who saved it.
Cons: Very expensive to eat and hire a scooter. A bit needing investment in general.

7.5 Good
Pros: Beach, Beach Bar Staff, Location

Pros: One of the best beaches on the island

9.7 Excellent
Pros: This is a beautiful place!
