Pros: Cleaness

Pros: Great location! Easy access to bus lines and subways. The bathroom is quite large relative to the room size. Effective use of space. They can store your luggage for you free of charge if you arrive early. I did this and it was a huge lifesaver.

Pros: We loved staying here. My only complaint is that it cost additional money to use the pool, if you chose to use the pool, and more importantly, that you had to be 18 years old to use the pool at all. My wife and I were traveling with our 9-year-old daughter, so none of used the pool because our daughter was too young. This was a huge downer, because Kyoto is very hot in August and we would have welcomed being able to cool off in the pool. By contrast, the hotel we stayed at in Tokyo (The Park Hyatt) had no age restrictions on pool usage (or usage fees) and we used the pool twice a day. Other than the disappointment about the pool, the Kyoto Hotel Okura was a total delight and perfectly located and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating, and the free shuttle too and from Kyoto Station was a welcome surprise.

Pros: We loved almost everything about the Okura! Staff were very attentive and helpful with navigating for non-Japanese speaking guests. Facilities were in great shape. Insure dining had both local and international options. Subway access via basement connection and hotel shuttle to/from train station. So many amazing sites to see from there and tour company picked up at hotel.

Pros: Lovely staff, very helpful. Hotel seemed oriented towards the business traveller and more for the older Japanese population. That said, it was a very good, very comfortable hotel. Good value!

Pros: This is the most luxury hotel in Kyoto. Everyone will stay there will have the best room and best service for sure!!

Pros: The location just across the street from Kyoto station was fabulous. Also close to shopping and some of the major sights. The bed was good and firm. They had CNN on TV.

Pros: The hotel is right across from the train station. The room provides all the basic necessities in a very tight space. The bed was comfortable and the hotel was quiet at night to provide a good night sleep.

Pros: The fantastic architecture with its central atrium around the lobby made it such a tranquil place to return to every day. The gift shop was excellent too, with higher quality souvenirs than most other shops.

Pros: The location can't be beat! It is right by the JR line and makes it easy for navigating the city and having a base to get back to before going out and exploring more! The staff was extremely nice and attentive and spoke relative good English.

Pros: The location and staff were amazing. Right across from the JR line tracks. Staff was very helpful, offering suggestions of where to eat and sights to see. Rooms were very large and comfy! We’d come back for sure!

Pros: Right across the street from central train station. The room we got was a nice size. The hotel is a tad dated but perfect for a few days in Kyoto. Location is fantastic and reasonable price. We were happy!

Pros: It is very convenient for transport as it is just to the north of Kyoto JR Station and the bus terminal. The reception staff spoke English well and were helpful whenever we had questions.

Pros: The hotel was extremely convenient to the Kyoto train station, so you don't have to drag your luggage very far, and you can catch a bus to anywhere in Kyoto from right outside the front door. Location is this hotel's best feature.
