Pros: Absolutely everything else. Wonderful food, beautiful, creative, colourful rooms. Sea sounds and breezes to sleep to. Helpful staff and pervading, relaxed atmosphere Marcia's endless good advice and good ideas. The location is stunning
Cons: If you can go barefoot its lovely, no problem. But if you have feet that need footwear the sand can be an issue.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wow. This place is amazing. A hidden gem. We liked everything. The location - right at the beach! The food prepared by the staff. The room was spacious and cooled by a sea breeze. I especially enjoyed the large shower. My wife enjoyed the hammock at the terrace. Also, Kim the owner is a fabulous story teller during dinner. We love to come back one day
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place was a real gem. Nothing was too much trouble. Staff and food were excellent. We did not want to leave!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Far away from the crowds, very calm and tranquil. Exceptional cusion, helpfuk staff.
Cons: All cons are related to the proses - fare internet connection, 30 min drive from the city.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A very quiet place, isolated from touristic spots and surrounded by nature. A paradise, with a very caring and tailored service. Superb breakfast, lunch and dinner, for a healthy retreat.
Cons: The beach happened to be covered by seaweed, which sadly was also the case all over the coast since Playa del Carmen. That said, we used protective neoprene shoes to walk up to a great spot where we had one of the best swim and snorkel ever!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: From breakfast to lunch to dinner the food was amazing. Walks on the beach grand. fun snorkeling. Who would want to ever leave. Management was great, staff amazing. Always a smile!! You are away from it all. My partner and I will be back.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beatiful room ( 2nd floor) ,very good restaurant with decent prizes.Lovely owner.Very quiet. The sea was not for swimming and loads of rubbish and sea grass ( which might is a seasonal problem).Quite far away from the town.
9.4 Excellent

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the location, great room with stunning view. Very good breakfast. A fabulous place to stay for a few days for a complete rest. Justa was so helpful when medical care was needed.
Cons: It would have been nice to have an option of booking a light lunch at breakfast to avoid having to go elsewhere.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Few kilometers outside the village. Perfect for relax on the beach. Next to it is a nice restaurant in walking distance with good food and prices. Beach in front of bungalows is clean and well organized. Beeakfast was very good, with many mexican options to choose from menu.
Cons: We couldn’t „turn off” waves sound in the night
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Justa, Albert, and the entire staff were helpful and friendly. We had a lovely room with a magnificent view. The food was delicious (breakfast was included and fantastic)!
7.9 Good
Pros: Wonderful location on a very quiet beach.
Cons: No problems
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's not in the centre of Mahahual, so you can peacefully enjoy the beach during the day and all the stars in the sky at night. The staff at the hotel are always willing to help, including Zita who's adorable :)
6.3 Good
Pros: Hotel is directly on the beach, rooms are big and clean. In the morning you can see beautiful sunrise on the sea.
Cons: Difficult arrival via bumpy beach road, no activities around (only 2 restaurants). In the bad weather like we had (strong wind, waves and lot of algae in the sea) there is really nothing to do. The ecologic toilet is not very convenient and the water in the shower was not warm.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The off-the -grid and eco friendly systems were great. This is the way to go for planet lovers. Management was lovely and gracious. It is a magical place for people looking for a quiet but refined stay away from crowds. Snorkelling paradise especially after a great breakfast (continental and local fare choices).
Cons: Nothing, honestly it's fab.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Big rooms with tasteful decoration, having the beach only for ourselves, amazing hosts, super good and affordable restaurant
Cons: Sadly the beach is plagued by sargosso like the rest of the coast (it is way better here than in other places though!)
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The property location is great if you want to get away from town and enjoy peace and quiet. The staff was excellent always helpful. The coffee in the morning was great!
Cons: All was well except that which the property nor anyone else could control; there was a lot of seaweed on the beach.

3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The resort is at a wonderfull place of Xcalak, at the beach, great nature around.
Cons: There is an 24 hours reception, we had to leave early 6 AM, after 20 minutes we reached the owner, the owner was rude, we had to wake him up, on top of it we had to pay cash for drinks/foods of their restaurant ( there was an option to pay via Paypal only, no credit cards accepted at all ). Also their Wifi is very slow in restaurant and in the suite it barely works, so if you need to work, don't forget it that in Xcalak there is barely phone network.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and quiet place. Perfect to chill out. Jazz during breakfast - it is something I like very much
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The interior design, the new pool and the rooms were amazing. The owner family must have put a lot of passion in creating this outstanding atmosphere. We loved the cute house-cat and we were deeply impressed by the wild animals we could observe. Breakfast tasted good.  This hotel with warm-hearted and professional staff would be the most relaxing and beautiful place to relax and enjoy your nearly private beach.
Cons: We stayed at this unique place for 5 nights. My boyfriend and I took our time to write this extended review because we hope that profound improvement of the service staff will follow. Our first criticism goes to the receptionist behaviour: When we had dinner, the receptionist was smoking next to our table a few nights. He was using the guests area as if it was his private living room hanging out with other people and smoking while we were eating. The smoke was very inconvenient for us and we felt disrespected. Apart from that, we couldn’t feel that he was happy to have guests. Instead we felt that we were more a bit of annoying. He didn’t ask us if we are satisfied or if we need anything. We arrived after an exhausting trip in the evening. The receptionist welcomed us with the words: „Hi. You already paid in bookingcom so your food is not included. Please don’t use the hairdryer.“ It’s of course okay to say that but it’s definitely not the warmest welcome you could give to guests. The next criticism goes to the waiters skills: The waiters had difficulties to understand basic english and were not trained in basic waiter skills such as asking us if we want to order or if we want anything more to drink. On the beach, they haven’t even asked us once, if we want to order (We are not sure if there is a beach service or not?). We always needed to go back to the hotel area in order to pick up the menu and after choosing we had to go back to tell them what we would like to have (They could have thought logically, if we had asked for the menu, that we probably wanted to order). Regularly, they brought wrong orders, e.g. only one beer/coffee/juice even though we ordered two. In the morning we needed to ask the waiter if he could bring the pillows for the lounge after we were sitting on the hard wood for a while. Apart from that they hardly ever asked us if we want to order.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Check in was good and waiters cheerful.
Cons: Area with to many mosquitos i have been bitten more than ever !!! Beach area is clean at the hotel front but so dirty at the sides littered of waste and rubbish !!! What a pity !!! To conclude smell in the bathroom was awfull at the morning.
2.9 Mediocre
Pros: - Rooms are oké and clean.
Cons: I would not reccomend to go her for various reasons. -Ventilator on the room is that noisy that you cannot sleep when it is on. - Manager is very unfriendly. - Also breakfast is not uncluded when you book via booking apperently is is when you book directly, this was not communicated clearly. - They do not accept creditcards (If you book you have to Pay via paypall). -They do clean the beach (lots of plasics and seeweed) but they dump it next door, what is a bit strange if you profile yourself as ecofriendly. - The restaurant is not very local and only has frozen fish.
6.0 Good
Cons: Extremely hot. Every room has a fan that points directly to the bed. The fan is SO dirty. They shut down the restaurant windows so you cannot access to the very nice terrace or even hear the sea.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great place, perfect for couples and if you want to disconnect from everything, you are there and have a private beach only for you, I liked more than Mahahual centre
6.3 Good
Pros: Quiet place by the beach. Large room, large bathroom and direct access to the beach from your room.
Cons: The hotel is located 7 miles from the last paved block. It is a dirt road and the first 3 Miles are the worst, full of potholes. You will need a Jeep or a 4x4 to get there safely. The beach is not nice so there is no point in staying at this hotel, there are several nice hotels in Mahahual. I would not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel.
Kalma Matan Ka'an - Majahual - Building

8.6 Excellent (459 reviews)
S$ 88+
Overview Reviews
At the Kalma Matan Ka'an Hotel you will find a dreamlike atmosphere, surrounded by Mexican art in an earthly paradise. Children can enjoy our pool while adults rest with a good drink after having spent a day snorkeling or diving on the Mahahual reefs. Get to know our rooms, all different and taken care of to the last detail, with finishes faithful to the name of each room: they are dedicated to flowers, birds or aquatic fauna of the area Many amazing surprises await you at our hotel in Mahahual, Mexico. And it is no coincidence that in the ancient Mayan language "kill ka’an" means a gift from heaven, since our attentive Kalma Matam Ka'an staff will be waiting for you to provide excellent attention and first class services.
7.0 Good
Pros: location, beds, general hotel architecture - very pretty and well thought-out.
Cons: if we had a small fridge that would have been super. Aircon did not work.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very unique and creative design of this spacious hotel with an open inner courtyard. Quite interesting and well done. The staff were great and friendly. Our room on the front had super sunrise and caribbean views. Nice big shower but no soap tray. The top deck had a nice little plunge pool, comfy lounge recliners and tremendous views. The restaurant decor and the breakfasts were excellent. A short walking block to the beach and boardwalk. Very neat Mexican tile in the bathroom and our room floor. Quiet at night and a great sleep.
Cons: No English TV and only 5 stations in Spanish. There was a sewer smell coming from the shower drain. I kept it covered with a towel to stop it. Our toilet seat was the thinnest plastic and too small for the toilet size. It collapsed into the middle of the opening when one sat on it. They changed it right away when I took a photo to the front desk of me sitting on it with shorts on. I can't imagine any previous guests using it and not complaining. I never saw anyone use the good sized inner courtyard pool. It just didn't look too fresh and inviting. It wasn't dirty but just looked like it needed new paint to make it sparkle. For $100 CDN per night I expected more value for our money.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We just loved this hotel. The design, the location the staff, the rate all fantastic. So good in fact that we are planning a return visit for a couple of days before returning to our native country Australia.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Balcony and the ocean view.
Cons: The cleaning staff was talking really laud and too early at the morning, before 8am. Bad Internet.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location, nice staff overall, clean rooms. Breakfast is included. They have a pool on the ground floor and a small pool on the rooftop, but neither are heated. Likely not a problem in summer, but when it’s cool in the winter heated pools would be nice. They provide free beach towels for you to use (and take out of the hotel with you to the beach). There is a rooftop bar with AMAZING views of the Caribbean. Highly recommend at sunrise and sunset.
Cons: Rooms are on the smaller side, breakfast takes a long time to be served and they run out of stuff as the morning wears on. Seems like they’re not quite prepared for the influx of people in high season—which is odd, as it’s the same time every year. Ground floor rooms can be noisy at night and in the morning, with guest conversions in the common areas quite audible in the rooms. No blankets for the bed—likely not an issue in summer, but definitely an issue in winter. In high season, the price seems high re: the value you get, but a lot of places are expensive in Mahahual in high season.
6.7 Good
Pros: Gerben was really nice and helpful and the rooms itself were comfortable. The hotel is nicely set up with a cool rooftop plunge pool, overviewing the see and village
Cons: The smell in the room was horrible, from the drainage system and the only solution was spray and opening the windows. However they gave us free breakfast for compensation.
7.0 Good
Pros: Nice hotel in a relatively new building. Lovely swimming pool and rooftop bar.
Cons: Breakfast quite basic, nothing really special.
6.0 Good
Cons: hotel is old, pics on homepage look nicer then it is

Pros: The included breakfast was better than most. Even though it was called "Continental" there was a nice selection of foods provided. The beach area was clean and comfortable. Their menu has a nice selection of meals and sometimes there is live music in the evenings. It is away from the busy malecon which has pluses and minuses.
Cons: Nothing in particular comes to mind. Perhaps an extra towel for the beach could be offered.
5.8 Okay

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Convenient location and good local tips from staff
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff was super friendly and helpful! The hotel is close to the beach but not on the malecón so it was a lot quieter. Close to the bus @ collectivo terminal as well as our favourite, genuine Mexican restaurant ”El Primo” and good dive centers!
Cons: Our room was close to reception so it could get a little loud at times - no problem with ear plugs though. The wifi wasn’t very strong in our room but it was not a big deal for us :-)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean Friendly staff Great air conditioning Close to beach
5.8 Okay
Pros: It was possible to get beach towels against a deposit. The owners try to manage the hotel environmentally-friendly and there is a small library that you can consult. The prices are alright for Mahahual.
Cons: There was a horrible smell in the bathrooms which made them barely usable. The matress was inclined to one side so that u had the feeling that u were falling off the bed throughout the night. The rooms were pretty small. Some of the lady staff was just incredibly uninterested, not able to respond to greetings and ignoring the guests by and large. There was no good communal space where one could sit and converse. The AC leaked water drops unto the bed.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff was really helpful and friendly. Rooms are clean and location is great.

Pros: Location and very helpful and friendly staff

There is a dolphin park that allows visitors to swim with the dolphins 7 km away. Hotel Mexico Lindo is only 100 metres from the beach. Bacalar, one of Mexico’s Magic Villages, and Bacalar Lagoon are about 2 hours and 30 minutes' drive away. This is a popular site to practice water sports like skiing, diving and sports fishing.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Clean room located 2 steps away from the ADO bus station on the Main Street which is parallel to the beach boardwalk. Plenty of local restaurants nearby including the only ATM I am aware of in town. Clean room with lots of space to unpack and very good reliable free wifi. The shower is good, water is hot (careful when regulating it lol). Nice patio doors but I always kept my curtains closed, I don’t like that people pass by and can see right in. Curtains completely block out the light so you can get lots of sleep. All in all, a nice quaint local hotel which was very good value. I’d stay again.
Cons: Room was musty and humid when I entered and had to leave the air conditioning on the whole night to get the odor to dissipate. To be fair, it had rained heavily the night before but it was still kind of unpleasant. Lighting is a bit dim in the room even when turning on all the lights. Staff is efficient but could’ve used a few more smiles (only the maintenance men greeted with a good morning when I passed by).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean hotel in the centre and the staff were excellent we had to change one room and there was no problem at all
Cons: No everything was good
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location! And also the bed was very soft.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: staff was great clean nice rooms great location
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Close to the beach and bus stop
Cons: No comfortable chairs in the room
5.0 Okay
Pros: The room was spacey.
Cons: Breakfast. There was a bit of fruit, not much. And you could ask for toast. But there was nothing to put on the bread. There was only one entrance/exit and in the night the gate was locked (for security reasons). So in the night I realized myself that IF there would come a fire, you could never leave the building.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The room was clean and big enough for everything we needed, the location is great, the receptionists are nice, and for the cheap price it was a good surprise. Very recommended!
6.7 Good
Pros: Location is great, right next to the beach and town, and the water pressure in the shower was very good. (Tip: if you go to Mahahual, do make sure to eat at the restaurant DiVino - easily the best food in town, with owners who really care about good food).
Cons: Unfortunately, we think the property is a bit moist damaged. Our room had a quite strong smell of mold, and we didn’t have any doors or windows to let in fresh air. This made it unlikely for us to stay there again.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The owner is super nice.
Cons: Complicated wifi password

Pros: Central location, and quiet. Good staff. Lovely balcony.
Cons: Our Queen Studio lacked some basic furnishings, for example no coffee / dining table, no full length mirror, no safety deposit box, no hot water in kitchen area, no bottle opener, no lamps, no lid on toilet bin. We did have a grubby sofa in the kitchen area.

Pros: The hotel was at the end of the main drag, so this was nice to be away from the hustle bustle. The room was clean, and the beds were comfy.
Cons: There was no safe in the room, and the doors were not airtight.
6.0 Good
Pros: No crossaints beds ok not very private. Hardly any staff. Very poor internet doesn't work at night.
Cons: Internet and No staff.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The receptionist/concierge Rosa was very kind, helpful and knowledgeable.
Cons: The business next door always played loud music.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location, comfortable room and lovely and helpful staff. This place is right on the boardwalk at the opposite end of Mahahual from where the day tourists unload, within walking distance of everything you need. The view of the ocean to the front and the mangroves to the back was wonderful.
Cons: It's a bit inconvenient that they do not offer breakfast or a mini fridge, and the internet was indeed very slow (but that's what I was looking for!); unfortunately the hotel in front of them blocks their view quite a bit but the rooms high enough up have lovely views anyway.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very nice place, close to the beach.
7.5 Good
Pros: The location is very good - in the end of main beach, away from loud sellers, but still close to everything.
Cons: The furniture is a bit old, but still ok and good stay for night or two.
2.2 Mediocre
Pros: It was cheap. That's all that was to be liked.
Cons: No hot water, dirty beds, no hot water, bugs in rooms, leaks in one room, poor hotel service. Never again!

6.0 Good
Pros: The location was very nice especially as they had a private beach area. However, they also let cruise ship tourists (mostly Americans) to use the beach area.
Cons: The place was very noisy - the room was close to the water pumps and the door didn't shut entirely making very loud noises when it's windy. Staff didn't want to give us beach towels because we were checked out...
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great ocean view, big comfortable bed and the best for us was the rooftop jacuzzi. Swing bar in the lobby looked good but we decided to explore the town's other bars instead.
Cons: The beach is beautiful but unfortunately they have a huge sargasso seaweed problem. The smell is very strong as they take it out and it rots but I appreciated the effort they were doing to clean up the beach club as early as 6am.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The guy on reception was very kind at check in, although he did not fulfill the task of informing me options to return back to Cancun. Pedro however assisted me greatly in organizing a taxi for which I was very grateful for. He was very helpful.
Cons: Nothing, but was disappointed that the guy on reception said he would look at my travel options and get back to me, but did not.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location and the way the took care of us.
Cons: Can’t say.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The location and the tickets offered for the water park my kids love the water park.
Cons: The internet was not working the day we stayed
7.9 Good
Pros: Location Bed Shower Wifi Sky tv for a rainy day
Cons: Breakfast Too expensive off seasonal rate Problem with sewer smell in the bathroom
8.0 Excellent
Pros: This place was very nice, the people who work there were very nice and very helpful, location was great, my room was great, ocean view, balcony was nice and big.. I would definitely stay here again, as I was looking around the area there was only a few hotels that seemed really nice so im glad I picked this one...
Cons: only thing I didn't like was that there is a rooftop Jacuzzi but no hot water, its a cold water Jacuzzi, if this place would invest in a heater for the Jacuzzi it would have made my stay a perfect 10.. roof top was nice and quiet view was amazing, but water was cold...

7.1 Good
Pros: Although it is not in the city center, there is a nice beach with hammocks in front of the hotel and kayaks you can use!
Cons: They didn’t clean the seaweed (like a lot of hotels do), so the smell wasn’t good. Also the pool was really dirty, so you can’t make use of the pool
7.9 Good
Pros: Susie and Rachel were very helpful. All were very pleasant. Great bed, good fridge, nice to have satellite tv with some English channels, right in front is very good snorkeling if it's NOT windy which makes the water very murky. They lend you safety floats so boats can see you. Nice hammocks on beach in shade and in water too.
Cons: It was not near a $100 Cdn. hotel. Older building of below average quality. Everything was basic. 1st coffee maker had no filter and was filthy. They gave us a much better one when I asked. Bottom sheet was torn right where you lie. we had to get it changed right away. A needless hassle for guests. We can't tip a maid who prepares a room for guests like that. Only 1 bedside lamp with broken switch and very poor light. We were surprised by the 4% fee for credit card after we had paid. It should be mentioned in booking.com listing. We would have paid cash if we knew.
7.0 Good
Pros: Nice beachview, friendly staff, they cleaned every day
Cons: If you are a couple and looking for some time together away from the noise it's a very nice place. I personally was bored since there was just nothing to do. In my opinion it was too expensive for the service they offered. There was water in my bathroom on the floor
7.0 Good
Pros: great location the staff was accommodating
Cons: bed was really hard. microwave would be nice
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The little hotel is right on the beach. The personal is extremely nice and helpful. Swings at the reception and on the beach, little pool and nice garden.

Pros: Near the beach
Cons: Ants on the floor

Cons: The toilets did not have toilet seats. The pool was green. The beachfront was not kept clean.

7.0 Good
Pros: The location is quite good as pretty quiet and not on the sidewalk with all the cruise ship passengers but only a couple of minutes away from the beach. I liked the inner jardin which has trees and tables. Good wifi.
Cons: The dorm room was about 32C in the afternoon and way to hot too have a siesta. The dorm mattresses are very firm.
5.0 Okay
Cons: Pillows smelled really bad
7.5 Good
Pros: -Good location close to the beach and shops. -Large room. -Good sound proofing.
Cons: - Mouldy/stuffy smell in the room. - shower constantly leaking. - Hot water issues (low pressure and unreliable)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful sunset from the roof. Clean
Cons: Not much atmosphere. Not a good space to relax. Not a great place to store bags after checkout. They did not provide a top sheet and charged you extra if you wanted one. They did not provide coffee
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice quiet place close to beach. Clean room
Cons: No fridge.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The beds and the polished concrete floors and walls and the stone-covered showerfloor were nice. The layout of the garden was nice.
Cons: The shower taps did not work properly. The garden looked untidy. No cleaning in the rooms. Overpriced rooms right after New Years.
7.9 Good
Pros: 5-minute walking distance to the beach and most of the shops on the main street. Nice enclosed courtyard. Isolated from any street noise. Good hot water all the time and enough pressure.
Cons: The ground floor units lack good ventilation, and so felt musty, especially with sewer smell. They do provide a cover for the shower drain, but the smell is noticeable when coming back to room. It may have been worse due to torrential rain on the day we arrived, though. Would be nice if there is a faucet or water hose in the garden to wash feet before entering the room. The kitchen is an open-air bar converted for use, which serves its purpose.
6.3 Good
Pros: She cleaned multiple times a day, beds were okay, good water pressure and hot water. The overall building was in good condition.
Cons: People didn't speak a word English, not really any vibe. It is very boring there. The place doesn't invite for a cosy evening because there were barely any backpackers (mostly couples who stayed in the private room) There were peoplex coming in our room who didn't sleep there. They came to shower etc. (The door couldnt be locked). It was very noisy The owners kids were screaming until 11 pm and the owner didn't do anything about it. Although the room.was clean and got cleaned often, we still saw cockroaches.
7.9 Good
Pros: Clean and decent, nice dorm rooms, the woman cleans the rooms and made the beds everyday. The place has bikes for rent.
Cons: Unfortunately the owners didn’t speak a word English. No breakfast included. No bowls the kitchen available. It was a huge drama to get the refund for the towels back in the end. There was not really a chance to socialize with other travelers, so don’t go there if you’re a solo traveler ...
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Close to main area, restaurants, shops and beach, clean room
Cons: Uncomfortable bed. Not premium bedding. Common area next to room door so I had other guests sitting outside my room. Although they were quiet and went to rooms at decent hr. Still was nice room. I would stay again. Common area would be better where hammocks were and have hammocks outside room instead.

7.5 Good
Pros: Restaurant was closed
Cons: We had to drive a mile or two to get any food
7.9 Good
Pros: Employees all very friendly! Alfonso runs this property, was very helpful with our questions! Rooms were clean, and I can't say enough good things about all employees of the property! We were English speaking only, while almost everyone was Spanish speaking, so keep in mind your conversations may take a little longer, but again we were happy with the people that worked there! Enjoy yourself, don't sweat the little stuff, and you'll have a great stay! Was too windy/cold for us to swim while we were there, but pool, reef, and beach out front looked clean, and well maintained.
Cons: Older property, some small issues, but employees were anxious to help, or fix any problems!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: I loved the staff, they were very friendly and they made me feel like home
Cons: I didn’t like the sargasso
4.2 Okay
Pros: Leaving...
Cons: What didn't? Personnel, except manager, doesn't speak English. The pool is not clean. Less parking space. Didn't change sheets. How can they present themselves as a four star restaurant? Besides. The smell in Mahahual is terrible. The heavily seawed beaches smell like rotten eggs. A penetrant smell that wakes you up in the morning. Don't go here!
4.6 Okay
Pros: pool was good
Cons: the room wasn’t cleaned, too far from the city, dirty beach
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff helped us a lot when we had any questions. Clean rooms which where cleaned daily. The pool is nice and there are some nice beds and hammocks at the beautiful private beach in front of the hotel. We walked to the town for dinner which is quite doable (taxi is only 30pesos going back) nice to be in a quite location.
Cons: Breakfast not included but possible to buy for 60 pesos. It is basic but alright
7.9 Good
Pros: We traveled for our anniversary and the hotel staff had covered the bed in flowers!

2.9 Mediocre
Pros: really nothing!!!
Cons: The pictures you see here must been taken right after the Hotel opened 30 (?) years ago. It seems that since than no single dollar was spent to keep the hotel in a good shape. The roof terrace was covered with garbage. The breakfast room is not existing any more - filled with garbage and table tennis table. Even there is no bar in the hotel. The first night we spent in room no. 4 - room no 5 (former a guest room too), switched to the kitchen in the meantime. Left to hotel they've built an ordinary restaurant (not shown in the pictures) and after the restaurant closes, in room no 5 the "dishes party" starts. We tried to get a room in another hotel, but no chance becaue of easter. After we've complained we were upgraded for a suite but had to pay another 40.- US per night. Even the suite was not the money worth. The fridge smells miserable. The beach in front was covered with sargassum seagrass. The seagrass is currently a general problem of the carribean east cost and other hotels tries to clean the beaches as good as possible. But our manager stated that we have to look for our own, if you want a clean beach. The staff (except the manager) is not able to communicate in english. Even simple words like "manager" were not understand. But an internet translation tool was very helpful - after showing that manager in spanish means manager they understood... Parts of the staff are spend the night, wherever they find space to sleep .
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Privacy, location, staff service, suite.
Cons: Internet service was not so good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's a very calm place right next to the beach
Cons: Didn't include breakfast
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location very near restaurants and bars in Mahahual. Rooms were clean and the staff was very helpful.
6.3 Good
Pros: Very spacious room with kitchenette
Cons: There was no electricity for several hours and no AC very close to bad smelling beach
5.0 Okay
Cons: The foul odor of the decaying algae was unbearable. We booked a hotel with a balcony but never used it once. The only way to survive was to close all the windows and rely on the air con. All the other hotels are a bit further from the beach and the restaurants/beach clubs located in front of them did clean all the algae daily so it didnt stink. The hotel is at the very end of the promenade right before the stone pier so the algae will concentrate there so even if they tried to do something about them it would be Sisyphean labour. In the season of algae avoid at all costs!
6.7 Good
Pros: Location is good, staff is helpful
Cons: Only 3 sunbeds (we were 6) in bad condition. You can not laying in the sun, because sunbeds are old, the ground is not clean. The water also not clean in front of the hotel. No hanger in the room, in the bathroom, no chair. The armchairs in the lobby are too old. So equipments and beach would have a little refurbishment
4.2 Okay
Pros: View from the room.
Cons: The amenities you posted were not true! There was no restaurant on site. There was no bar. There was no wet bar. There was a tiny TV that usually didn't work. Had to move to a different room because AC didn't work. Only one of the ceiling lights out of 4 worked. Shower did not have a curtain or door, nor was there any shelf in shower to set toiletries. There was no tissue (Kleenex), only toilet paper. The only toiletry included was shampoo and a little bar soap. Not enough towels. No place to get ice- had to buy it. Place was very old. Beach was covered in sargasm- dead seaweed that smelled terrible. Could not use the beach. Further down the sidewalk, closer to town, resorts kept their beaches raked and clean.

8.2 Excellent
Pros: the location is amazing (remember that it is a bit secluded from already secluded Mahahual) and the hotel itself is rather clean with great views of the water which is only a few steps away! i thought i'd utilize the pool when the sun went down but it is just OK - it's rather stale. great breakfast included as well and the staff was very nice and courteous. when i was on the beach, he even cut down a coconut for me to drink! they even have a good solid collection of DVDs you can watch at night.
Cons: work on your wifi! it only seems to work in the lobby area. it's 2016 - we need wifi, especially when your website says that wifi is offered.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location, the beach is luminous and beautiful. The starry sky was magnificent. Lourdes is kind, has a nice smile, and she is very accessible. She even offered to do some shopping for us when she went to the town
Cons: The utensils were affected by the sea salt and a couple of them had spots of rust.
1.0 Poor
Cons: We didn't like dog poop on the beach plus we paid over $150 per night and had to ask for hot water, for the stove to be repaired, for towels, for wash cloths, and for beach towels. No breakfast was provided and the 5km dirt road to get there was full of bad potholes. Lodging at other places was cheaper and nicer.

Pros: The dogs
Cons: Poor staffing old hard beds not cleaning staff
4.6 Okay
Pros: Close to a grocery store, next to the beach
Cons: Not clean, full of ants, unfriendly staff, beach in front not well maintained
7.9 Good
Pros: Remote location, good feeling and energy, reasonable for the price
Cons: beach in front of property was impossible ants in the rooms after the first day
4.6 Okay
Pros: Location would be acceptable if they hadn't had the seaweed, they don't clean it.
Cons: The staff was really not up for international people, no English speaking person and I had to call some numbers so that someone could give the key, even if we arrived during the opening hour. The same happened when we left, I just left the key hanging there. The room didn't feel clean and they didn't empty the trashbin during our stay which can become disgusting in Mexico.
7.5 Good
Cons: The sheets were dirty

7.0 Good
Pros: location, beds, general hotel architecture - very pretty and well thought-out.
