Horrific experience with Hertz in Rome Fiumicino. Rented a car that had a tire blown as soon as I started driving it. Called the Hertz location in Fiumicino and no answer. Called multiple times, but no answer. Had to call the US number only to get transferred to Road Side assistance for Canada? Ended up changing the tire myself then drove to my hotel. Kept calling Hertz in Rome (total of 8 times that day) but no answer. Tried calling Naples (no answer), Milano (no answer) and Salerno (answered but told me I wasn't covered because Hertz had franchised their business in Italy?). Suggested I pay for the flat myself and be on my way. In order to salvage my trip, I did just that. Only to find that the tire had prior damage in two places and it was unlikely that it could withstand another "patch" job. Nevertheless, I paid the fee for just that and tried to get ahold of Rome Hertz another 14 times over 4 days. No answer! The car sat parked because the newly patched tire went flat again! Seriously, I can't make this stuff up. Called the US again without help as they simply said I needed to deal directly with Rome Hertz only. I used Twitter to get a road side assistance number for Italy and the towed the car finally, while I had 5 days left on my rental. They refused to take me to Hertz to get a replacement saying I needed to pay a taxi for that (I was 60 miles away from the nearest location). I simply told them to keep the car and I would deal with it upon my return to Rome via another means. When I got to Rome, they had the nerve to charge me for a one way drop off charge in addition to my full contracted rate. NEVER AGAIN WILL I RENT FROM HERTZ/DOLLAR/THRIFY.10.0 Wonderful

Having to wait 2 hours in Rome to check-in with our reservation. A line ordering system that did not make any sense (draw a number for two other companies but not Dollar). Then, stand around because there was only standing room only. Really not efficient.10.0 Wonderful

Pros:
Great little car (Fiat Panda) to drive through narrow Tuscan city streets.Cons:
Pick-up was chaos: We had booked the car at Dollar, but no Dollar was to be found at the pick-up in the airport in Rome (we were not aware that Dollar was a Hertz company, nor were we informed). The queue to pick up the car was very long, and it took approx. 1.5 hours before it was our turn. Overall, a very poor car pick-up experience.10.0 Wonderful

Pros:
Worst experience ever. Rented a nice luxury Mercedes for my honeymoon and when we arrived they had a 3 hr line and then didn’t have a car for me. Ended up sticking me in a terrible tiny little fiat with the most uncomfortable and dangerous ride for my pregnant wife. I have never been so upset3.6 Poor

The insurance was so high and that was not mentioned when booking the car online. The VAT as well. I would not rent the car if that was mentioned in the site. I found that totally not fear.4.0 Mediocre

The service at Rome airport where we picked up the car was really, really bad. We had to wait 3hours to see an agent in order to get our car. Very crowded people yelling at the agents. And we lost nearly half day of our vacation waiting for a rental car. Very bad Avis needs to look into this.4.0 Mediocre

Well i was hoping u ask this ! Thr Staff Cons people ! They lie about everything! I ended up paying €222 for a Fiat Panda for 24 hours ? Prepaid Gas is Scam ! U end up paying thr whole amount even if the car is still half full ! Drop off charges ? 60€ 5€ to get someone to fill it up ??Cons:
