Overview Reviews
WHY PARADOR? A parador (stopping place) is a staple of the Spanish countryside, when old castles and convents were transformed into hostelries for weary knights and travelers. Inspired by these welcoming retreats, the Dutch Schans family opened the doors of their own parador in Costa Rica in 1995. Today, Parador Resort & Spa is the only full-service resort located in Manuel Antonio. We have earned a number of prestigious awards not only for our world-class service and amenities, but also for our passionate commitment to both the environment and the community. Our range of accommodation options go from the excellent to the absolutely amazing, and our location is second to none. We offer an oasis of calm with soaring views surrounded by lush rainforest, where youll spend your Costa Rica vacation blissfully isolated from the hustle and bustle of the main drag, but just minutes from Manuel Antonio National Park, miles of white sand beaches, restaurants, the local airport and the village of Quepos. Why Parador Resort & Spa? Keep clickingwe know youll find the answer.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view was amazing!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast buffet was bountiful with particularly wonderful fresh pastries! Great coffee. Most of the activity is around the central pool area and dining facilities. This was great for the number of guests during our stay but might be a little congested high season? Our premier room facing the pools was lovely, however, there is a lot of AC/Fan noise on this side that somewhat detracted from balcony use. There are many building and different types of rooms here, so just think about your priorities.
Cons: The pools were nice though they were doing maintenance while we were there on one. The resort has several buildings and since we were somewhat off season it seemed some had few or no guests. Just an observation. The resort does lack a beach at your footsteps but regular shuttle to beaches in the area is not a problem.
7.0 Good
Pros: The spa, the pool/ views, the wildlife, the staff
Cons: The room was very unimpressive compared to everywhere else I stayed in Costa Rica. Many things are not very luxurious- terrible coffee in the rooms, fake tiles, scratchy old towels, very uncomfortable bed.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Amazing hotel! Beautiful property, fantastic views. We paid an upgrade to Vista Suite and adored it. Staff was very friendly and helpful, we especially like Jeffrey who was just greatч
Cons: Food and drinks are pretty expensive. 11$ for a glass of wine. Also service during dinners was very slow.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The pools and grounds are stunning. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast very tasty. Enjoyed our 3 night stay.
Cons: Driving there is very narrow.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Room was excellent, location amazing, friendly staff and the pools are great.
Cons: Some of the facilities were unused and left in to disrepair.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: it was a great experience, very good hotel! The breakfast is very good with a good verity of food for everyone. The main pool is good size, the adult pool a bit small. We used the self laundry service that was very helpful.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, kind and helpful staff, great food. On top of that it is very close to Manuel Antonio NP which is a must to visit. Enjoyed every moment of it!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great choice for breakfast. Hotel grounds were incredible and full of wildlife - we saw more wildlife here than at the national park!! Liked that there was an adult only pool and the bar area in the evening was peaceful. Views from this hotel are also incredible.
Cons: Clarity around booking the shuttle (you have to precook both ways) the guest services staff weren’t that helpful when we asked for advice booking a shuttle so we ended up doing it ourselves. You can’t really get anywhere out of the resort unless you take the shuttle or hire a taxi so you’re limited to food choices here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was great with an awesome views and landscape. H
9.4 Excellent
Pros: Staff Room
Cons: Not very close from Espadilla, main Manuel Antonio beach, but has Biesanz Beach close by.
5.1 Okay
Pros: Staff
Cons: Many stairs to go to the Room, The First room that we saw not smell good

6.3 Good
Pros: Best view of Manuel Antonio
Cons: Its old and the renovations are ok...but not good...You only pay for the view
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the view. The staff was awesome.
Cons: Nothing to say. Because everything was great
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great view and breakfast and the pool was insane
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view was absolutely breath taking. There was nothing better than sitting by the infinity pool and sipping on some cocktails from the the pool bar. Amazing!
9.4 Excellent
Pros: Incredible views of the area especially at sunrise and sunset. Helpful and accommodating staff. Included shuttle is very helpful to get to beach and I especially appreciated how our shuttle driver brought us right to the park entrance (went a bit further on the road from the beach drop off).
Cons: Restaurant was a bit overpriced for dinner for food that was not very flavorful, however the included breakfast was excellent. Had many difficulties booking and paying through website, though was able to resolve by fax reservation.
6.8 Good
Pros: The view is incredible, the rooms/beds are comfortable and the breakfast is delicious. Falafel Bar across the street had great food too.
Cons: Some of the staff were rude and came off pretentious. This is especially annoying when you're on vacation and just want to let loose. TOO MANY KIDS. They pretty much took up the entire pool, were loud and spent all day there. I didn't have a moment to enjoy it until I went after 10pm. DO NOT GO TO FRED'S next door. We stepped in for a minute to check it out and the guy immediately hollered at us from across the place that we had to spend at least $10 or we had to leave. Um bye. The Wi-Fi also went down for an entire day, for the price you pay to stay here this was unacceptable.
6.8 Good
Pros: Beautiful hotel. Close to activities & great ocean views
Cons: Beds are horrible. Old & no box springs. Seven nights was almost unbearable. Ant's in the room. Overpriced for the supposed best hotel in town.

With a stay at Hotel Playa Espadilla in Manuel Antonio, you'll be steps from Manuel Antonio National Park and a 1-minute drive from Manuel Antonio Beach. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
8.0 Excellent
Cons: Nice hotel in a great location. However, to unlock the door from the inside of the room, one must use a key (which can be a little tricky to use) which could be a fire or health hazard if someone has to exit the room immediately due to a fire or medical need and they either can't find the key or their spouse or roommate is out somewhere with the key. Other than that it's a nice place.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast, dinner etc. were beyond fantastic! Breakfast was a full meal with your own choice of the main dish . There were a lot of fruits and the kitchen staff was super friendly. Please try their Tres-leches - very yummy! The Wifi in the room was great. The room was also very clean. There was ample parking. It was also super close to the Manuel Antonio park - about 300 yards - so one could leave the car behind and walk. It is also possible to book tours from the hotel. We booked the boat tour to the mangrove/Damas island and it was a really good choice. They also have night tours from the hotel - a tad expensive- but one should do it if not raining.
Cons: The only thing was in my room there was no desk or chairs, so we had to bring in a couple from the patio. Also, there was no separate bolt on the door - you had to use the key every time and it was a bit inconvenient. The other thing was there was only coffee - no teabag in the room . We had to get that from the front desk. I understand all of CR are mainly coffee drinkers - but many international travelers do need their tea.
7.5 Good
Pros: Within 5 mins walk of Manuel Antonio National Park. Room was comfortable, bed was nice, bathroom a little dated but clean. Breakfast was nice. Staff were quite friendly, except for when I had laundry done and asked if it could be brought to the room and a girl of reception just said “No”.
Cons: Drinks are listed without the 23% tax so watch out for that. Pool is a lot smaller than it looks on the photos, but it’s well maintained and we had it to ourselves so didn’t mind. Area is really tacky and touristy, didn’t have a good meal whilst we were there and tried several places. Better options are up the hill in Manuel Antonio proper. This was meant to be a bit of a treat hotel, but we left feeling quite nonplussed about it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful New Year party! Restaurant in the harden was really nice and food was great. The cocktails were also really good, especially during Hyde three hour happy hour
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff was absolutely amazing, especially in the restaurant and bar area. Ronnie graciously helped us with several special requests, including arranging “to go” lunches for us to take fishing, and preparing our catch for dinner afterwards. He also helped us store our fish until time to leave. The hotel’s location is also excellent. The pool, restaurant and bar areas are really nice.
Cons: A bit expensive for the age of the rooms. They are beginning to renovate the rooms.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel is on walking distance of NP Manuel Antonio and beach.
Cons: -

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Marlene does not speak fluent English but has enough to communicate &has all info in English and she is the most helpful lady ever!!!! We did the kayak trip which was great and she cooked us fresh breakfast even tho we returned after it finished. Great breakfast. Rooms are very big and clean. Comfy beds, AC, Good hot showers. Nice pool. Need a car as it’s a few km from the town, setting is very cool tho as it’s quite but near the mangroves.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great Staff! Room are big and Clean. Breakfast is good
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Don Bernard and Doña Marlene are fantastic and all accommodating. The rooms are clean and the food is fresh and good. AC works goof but you have to reset it each time you get back in the room.
Cons: You've got to have a car. We depended on taxis, but they hooked us up with Michael who took us everywhere we wanted to go. With that said, we couldn't walk anywhere, there's absolutely nothing near the place other the mangrove right next door. The air conditioning goes out when the door is open and you have to turn it back on when you get back in the room.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very quiet and peaceful place to avoid the crowds of Manuel Antonio. Nice breakfast with lots of fruits. Marlen and Beandon are very kind persons and gave us good recommendation for dinner and taught me spanish. I should have prolonged our stay approx by 2 weeks to be fluent
5.0 Okay
Pros: Staff was super freindly
Cons: Needs improvements on cleanliness, comfort, noise level, facilities such as safe box, AC, clean pool, etc
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The Kayak Lodge is about 10‘ Car Drive from Quepos and 15‘ from Manuel Antonio. Its located right next to a beautiful Mangrove Forest and you can do a fantastic Kayak Tour there. for us it was even better than the National Park Manuel Antonio. Guide Maurillio is very experienced and know a lot about nature. we saw monkeys, birds and crabs!
Cons: the rooms are a bit dark
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The swimming pool and the personal attention from the owners. We could watch a movie on the big screen in the reception area!
Cons: Small sand flies in the area besides the mangrove.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Kayak Lodge is a little off the beaten path, which I like. It is a family-run business, the best kind. When I checked in at 5pm on Tuesday, Marlene, the proprietress, was there to show the room. I asked about where to get a quick bite around Damas before heading for SJO to pick up my sister-in-law, Linda, and she offered to accompany me to a soda a couple miles away on the Coastal Highway. She is such a doll! Her nephew Juan Carlos helps with breakfast, was in San Jose but on his way back out to the lodge. Marlene got him on the phone, and he offered to pick up Linda at the airport and only charge me for the gas. I nearly said yes, but I had promised Linda that I would meet her in the airport when her plane landed. As it turns out, I got lost, and Linda had to wait for an hour before I got there. I really should have taken Carlos up on his offer! Oh, well . . . If you have a working GPS, Kayak Lodge is not hard to find at all. It will be one your most enjoyable experiences in visiting Costa Rica. I love the Ticos!
Cons: Having to leave after only a single night's stay. What, I need to say something negative to bolster my credibility? OK, the humidity was too high! Deal with it. (Like, turn on the room A/C.)
5.4 Okay
Pros: The room was pretty big and the breakfast was nice
Cons: We stayed many hours without internet neither TV because there was a problem with the connection. In Costa Rica the hotels have more or less all the same problems, we slept here two night and one night of them the hotel was completely empty there was no one. Said this you think that when hotels are empty they decrease the price (being low/winter season) and give you bargains but is not like this. Even if all the hotel in the area were free and there is plenty of hotels in more touristic areas like Manuel Antonio that were empty too they ask anyway for the full price so for what we got we felt we spent a lot of money and probably is better for look cheaper accommodations which at the end are not so different from hotels that cost 2 or 3 times more. Generally in Costa Rica (but especially in the case of this hotel) the prices of hotels are way over expensive, they ask you for European / USA prices but they didn't provide not even close the same level of service / comfort.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable rooms, equipped with AC, fans, TV and towels. The pool was awesome and the place to have breakfast is really lovely, felt like home.
Cons: If you don’t have a car it’s quite hard to get by public transport. Besides that, it’s just perfect.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: The Kayak Lodge was a very pleasant surprise. We had to cancel our reservation at a VERY expensive resort in Manuel Antonio for logistical reasons and booked the further away Kayak Lodge for a greatly reduced cost ($150/night vs. $400/night). The room, grounds, facilities, common areas, and pool were immaculate. My daughter said that it was the first place we had stayed during the trip (and we stayed at some very fine places) where she felt comfortable walking barefoot in the room. The owner (Marlene) and her staff were friendly and attentive to our needs. When we needed a late check out, we got it. The Manuel Antonio guide Marlene arranged for us (Millia (sp?)) was the best guide we had in Costa Rica! (Millia suggested & arranged a catamaran trip for the next day that was also a LOT of fun). Although the taxi to and from Quepos was about $10 one way (and a little more for Manuel Antonio) it was readily available and what we spent on taxis was more than made up for by what we saved on the room! Breakfast is included (indeed I think Kayak is deemed to be a B&B) and Marlene and her assistants prepared a delicious spread - complete with homemade guava jam! Also included gallo pinto, watermelon, pineapple, fried plantain, eggs, toast, etc. Mangrove tour was also fun. Highly recommend the Kayak Lodge.
Cons: It was a little far from the "action" but we had dinner in Quepos at the marina both nights and don't feel like we missed much by being a little farther out!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Friendly people, big and clean rooms. Very good breakfast and good wifi

Pros: Nice place and service for the room. Only the shower has a little problem, but the reception quickly solved our problem.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly and attentive to every detail. The resort offers a wide range of trails at the property. Free shuttle to MA NP.
Cons: Nothing major... Slightly far from Quepos but very convenient to join Highway 34.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazingly clean. Staff are exceptional and obviously well trained. The room we were assigned was spacious, the bed was firm and the selection of pillows satisfied our preferences. The property, the gardens and on site trails are marvellous.
Cons: Likely everyone will comment on the road noise. It is evident but is easily overcome when you consider the amenities La Fortuna offers. Frankly I can’t imagine a place CR that will provide a completely soundproof experience.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The grounds of the resort are absolutely beautiful and we loved walking on the rainforest trails of the property. The pool is clean and just the right temperature. Short drive to get to Manuel Antonio. We had a rental car to get around, but the resort has a shuttle if needed. We would definitely recommend this resort for both couples and families with children.
Cons: The breakfast is decent and you can have as much as you want, but the options are fairly limited.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: nice pool area, good size of the rooms, beautiful gardens, a jungle in the backyard where you can do your own walking tours with a lot of animals, great and fresh breakfast, friendly and good service who helped with organising trips (they sell tickets for the nationalpark)
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel and staff.
Cons: More vegan options on the menu
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Everything! The most beautiful hotel with first class service from all the staff. Immaculately clean, wonderful gardens and pool. One of the best hotels we have stayed at. Complimentary shuttle bus to Manuel Antonio Beach made getting around easy and real bonus. The public bus also leaves for Quepos regularly from outside the hotel. 50p each way! Highly recommended.
Cons: It was all wonderful.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice spacious rooms and big territory of the hotel. If you are on top floor you will see monkeys and iguanas from your balcony hanging on the trees. The restaurant on the 6th floor has a very comfortable lounge where you can have food and drinks or just relax. Hotel is in 2 min from the beach, even closer to the national park and shops.
Cons: Service was slow sometimes
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, friendly staff and very helpful
Cons: Gym has to get more attention. No clean towels and no mats to lay on
8.6 Excellent
Pros: The location is perfect, right by the park entrance and a 2 minute walk to the beach outside of the park and restaurants/shops. The hotel is really nice, clean and amenities were great, especially the pool with the big slide which was a big hit with the kids. Breakfast was very nice too and had a wide variety of items. The staff were all extremely nice and accommodating.
Cons: The bed was hard and sheets were awful. My daughter slept on a little bed they provided which was more of a cot with no real mattress, so quite uncomfortable. The dinner buffet had little variety although everything was really fresh.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent hotel, with a superb location directly adjacent to the entrance to the Manuel Antonio national park, and within wlaking distance from the beach. Very good buffet breakfast, excellent roof top bar.
Cons: It would be nice if the pool opened earlier in the morning.
4.6 Okay
Pros: The location is defiantly the only positive of they hotel
Cons: The rooms really old, not enough hot water to fill up the bathtub, could hear every noise of neighbors upstairs, guy at reception “nice” but with attitude
7.0 Good
Pros: Terrible wifi, i had to stand beside the door to have any access to wifi
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in a deluxe room with a king bed and jacuzzi bath. It was outstanding. We could see the ocean from our balcony and the rainforest is quite literaly right next to the property. I can't say enough about how good the experience was. I wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else if I went back. Christian, one of the hotel's concierge staff members, was especially helpful. I went on an excursion and accidentally left my credit card back at the hotel, except I needed it for the excursion. Christian exceeded my expectations by helping with the logistics by finding a workaround to avoid what would have otherwise been a big problem. As a result, I had an amazing experience. Everything else was incredible - from the swim up bar in the pool to the roof deck. I really can't say enough about it.
Cons: Everything about the property and staff consistently exceeded my expectations. I have no complaints.
7.9 Good
Pros: Good service, superb location.
Cons: Place has seen better days, but it's clean and the location right next to Manuel Antonio is unbeatable
9.4 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is right next to the rain forest and is pretty amazing! You can see monkeys from your room. It's walking distance to the beach as well. Staff was very good as well.
Cons: The hotel did not have my reservation when I checked in. But it wasn't an issue they got me checked in.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved staying here!! The hotel was absolutely gorgeous and the staff was so, so friendly. The staff members greeted us by name and we always felt welcome. The location of the hotel is superb and so close to the beach. I would definitely stay here again!
Cons: No beach view from our room, but the proximity to the beach and other key attractions more than made up for it.

Pros: everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed our first class stay from the moment we arrived on this lovely property. The front desk person greeted us warmly and we felt like family right away. They upgraded us without even asking and our room with the beach view was immaculate, adorable and had an amazing view. The breakfasts every morning were truly delicious, I am a vegetarian, a bit on the fussier side and the breakfast was a 10 and the portions fed me for both lunch and dinner. My husband and I would stay there next time as well.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: There were a small group of hosts welcoming us and providing us with information. As everyone else says, the scenery is absolutely fantastic. I live in Costa Rica for 15 years and have been to many hotels in Manuel Antonio. THIS IS THE BEST ONE I HAVE BEEN TO
Cons: no jacuzi? not sure
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel, the panoramic view from the bedroom was breathtaking. The staff were super friendly, pool was clean and beautiful. Food was good. Overall a very memorable experience, highly recommended
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic spacious room with incredible views, super helpful and friendly staff, great food
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location has a wonderful view. Breakfast is included and there are many places nearby to eat. There are nearby beaches of white sand and lush vegetation. The design of the hotel is beautiful, but the parking is very small.
Cons: I did not like that we were not given extra time for departure, since we were late for half an hour. In other places they have not given a margin.
9.6 Excellent
Cons: Just missing a minibar/fridge in the room

Pros: Nice apartment, helpful and nice staff - security guard showed us a sloth on the wire next to the property and was very nice to tell more about the animals around; good breakfast. You can use a pool 24/7.
Cons: Our apartment did not have a view as it was directed to the black fabric fence.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: We LOVED our stay at Villa Mymosa. Our unit was huge, with a kitchen with all the utensils needed to cook meals & a full-sized fridge/freezer so we could even have ice cream. The pool was the perfect temperature & with only 10 units, it was never crowded. The staff were all friendly & helpful, but our favorite was the owner's dog, Meg. So nice to have a furry head to pet when missing our own! Villa Mymosa is set a little above town, so you feel separated from the hustle of Quepos. And the monkeys! We saw tons of capuchins, partly because the owner directed us to where they would be during breakfast. How can you complain about a place that has a morning monkey travel report? Great stay, highly recommend.
Cons: No complaints!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed four days and everything was top notch. Big kitchen, the rooms are huge and the staff are very nice. Ron and Letty take great care of you. Would definitely stay every time in Manuel Antonio. Close to restaurants and the park.
Cons: Liked everything
6.0 Good
Pros: I liked how friendly the people who worked here were, very helpful. Close to the beach.
Cons: The price was good but there were a few issues like if you flush the toilet, the shower didn't work for about 10 minutes, the toilet wasnt working properly the whole time, we had to hold the flushing part down for at least 10 seconds for it to flush properly. Out of all the electrical outlets maybe 3 plugs worked. There were lots of gaps In the window and door frames for mosquitoes, ants and other flying insects to come in. I was told I would have an oven but didnt. The blender and microwave were clearly supposed to be white but where a yellow color. If your looking for luxury this isn't the place
6.0 Good
Pros: Our room was very spacious with a full kitchen and fridge. Staff were warm and welcoming. Location was central to other hotels and restaurants.
Cons: Cleanliness needs improvement as there were ants on the countertops and dust covered the tops of the closet. Some electrical outlets also didn't work along with the one of the night lights by the bed.
7.1 Good
Pros: Good breakfast, great location and terrace.
Cons: Humidity in the room.
6.3 Good
Pros: The reception was great and answered everything.
Cons: The service in the restaurant is very poor. Without a smile and hard to communicate. The room bathroom in a poor condition.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Huge apartment rooms with hamoks, comfy and relaxing. The pool is a nice touch swimming in the evening. The staff are very friendly and will help you with anything you need to make your stay and trip much easier.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Loved the small kitchen in the room as well as large fridge. Kitchen staff were fantastic! Food was great! Would highly recommend- we were there with 15 people and it was the perfect spot.
Cons: Beds were a bit uncomfortable but otherwise great space with lots of room.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent cabin in a nature reserve. Wonderful wildlife sanctuary on site. Grounds are stellar and full of wildlife. Chip and the team go the extra mile to make you feel at home. Site is also an animal rescue centre
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Seeing all of the animals.
Cons: Couldn't go jetsking
5.0 Okay
Pros: The pool was lovely and Chip was very friendly. The beds were very comfortable, the rooms were spacious, and the air conditioning worked well. The KSTR animal rescue tour was very good, and the guide, MacKenzie was fantastic. However, you can do the tour even if you don’t stay at Blue Banyan.
Cons: We had booked the one large cottage for our family, but when we arrived, the proprietor had given it over to volunteers who were there to work at the animal rescue facility. It’s a good thing that the other two cottages (smaller) were both open, as he was able to give us both to accommodate us. The cottages were in need of some general upkeep and maintenance (broken joints on window frames, torn window screening, weathered box springs). In short, a few prior reviews had mentioned the the animal rescue received far more attention than the B&B itself. This is really evident. The property has great potential, but the lodging side really needs to be the focus to meet expectations related to maintenance and reservations. The website is clear that only breakfast is provided (no problem) but that we were free to use the kitchen to prepare our own dinner (great—especially given that a taxi would have a very hard time finding the location). However, the kitchen and its pots and pans were filthy—it resembled a hard-used and rarely cleaned shared kitchen in a college dorm or hostel). I was able to scrub what we needed to get them clean enough to use, but given that the provided breakfast was prepared in that kitchen, I wasn’t overly thrilled. The other issue was a concern about snakes—while we did not see any in the 18 hours we were on site, a member of the staff told us he has captured 6 Fer de Lance (terciopelo) on the paths in the last week. This was distressing, as we had been told upon arrival that snakes were not a concern. With four kids encouraged to explore the property, a more forthright explanation would have been appreciated.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Huge and spacious cottage, the staff is super friendly and the breakfast awesome! You get everything you want and some useful tipps about the area as well. This is a place you have to spend at least one night, 2-3 would be better ;)
Cons: Absolutely nothing to complain!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The grounds were beautiful. The cabin was lovely and I loved the artwork. Food was great and staff and owners were very friendly. The pool was refreshing. A/C worked great. Included a fridge and coffee maker.
Cons: Beds could have been comfier and we would have loved a few more pillows.
7.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast with Chip was excellent conversation and his knowledge was amazing! So were the banana pancakes and the whole breakfast. Grounds were nice, rooms were big and spacious.
Cons: Everything was a tad dated but clean and tidy. Was expecting more of a resort setting, more people and staff. In the end, the quiet low key setting was great. Shower temperature was hard to control.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: You really feel in middle of nowhere at the BBI - exactly as we expected ! The room was huge, the views nice. It was a pleasure to have long discussions with the owner during our breakfasts.
Cons: maybe a bit remote - but we knew in advance and you have to be ready !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The perfect combination of an amazing mission (Kids Saving The Rainforest) a caring staff, and a wide variety of rainforest animals. The landscape is spectacular. Adjacent to the KSTR animal rehabilitation center and sanctuary, the Blue Banyan property consists of villas surrounding a community area with a lobby and restaurant. The pool was serene and uncrowded. We saw wild toucans and a wild sloth. The KSTR rescue center has many animals and taking the tour is definitely worthwhile. We had the honor of volunteering for two days, and the staff made sure that the experience was memorable. Our time with Chip, Jennifer, and their staff was the highlight of our Costa Rican adventure. Note: The location is secluded; 15 minutes from the highway. 4WD isn’t needed.

Pros: Good location and very helpful staff! Definitely worth a visit!
5.4 Okay
Pros: The staff was very friendly and very helpful.
Cons: A smell started in our room in the middle of the night and got so bad that by morning we couldn’t breathe w/o gagging. To me it smelled like a trash truck, my travel partner said it smelled like a dead animal.
5.0 Okay
Pros: It’s hard to find something positive, but I suppose we could say that the restaurant had a nice view at sunset.
Cons: “Standard” room was very small. Double bed was too small for 2 people, and my wife and I are smaller than average. Carpet had marks/stains. Tom smelled of either cleaning or other product. There was no hot water in the shower the first evening and next morning, which we told the reception about. Also the club music (from the casino?) was loud and kept us awake until 2 or 3am.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Good location.
Cons: Parking not convenient.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: I like the prime location of the hotel. Good breakfast.
Cons: No a/c in the lobby and hallway, maybe it is common in Costa Rica.
7.9 Good
Pros: The view from the restaurant is fantastic. The bus terminal is a couple of minutes away. Plenty eateries around
Cons: The mattresses need upgrading. The corner location on the Main Street can be rowdy The waiters at the restaurant are ignoring the guests. Can’t stop talking to each other’s loudly. Miss usage of the word” Pura Vida”... in various occasions and with the right tone it could have other meanings ( negative)
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice hôtel with beautiful view of the pacific ocean. There is a Nice pool to cool off and good Working AC in the room. The included breakfast is really Nice, There is a lot of Choice and you can also order pancakes with Eggs and sausage or Gallo Pinto. Close to the bus terminal where you can take the bus to manuel Antonio national park for 331 Colones.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: This hotel gets high marks from out while family. We had three rooms for two days for six adults and two very young children (11months old and 3 years old). The staff is outstanding from the front desk to the cleaning staff everyone made our stay very pleasant. The rooms were modern, clean and very comfortable. The only issues we had were lack of hot water early the first morning and very noisy the first night due to football celebrations everywhere around the hotel (the rooms are not soundproof in any way). They offer secure parking about two blocks away but there is pleanty of on street parking for loading and unloading and parking long term if you want. We really loved the food in the on site Resturant and the ice cream parlor just outside the hotel. It was very close to Manuel Antonio National Park and beach. Which is where we spent a lot of our time. They also help arrange tours if you want them and several in our group went on the mangrove tour. Beautiful location, fantastic sunsets. We really loved our trip.
6.8 Good
Pros: Location down town Friendly staff who are eager to assist
Cons: Internet is very patchy Parking is away from the hotel and very tight, resulting in my car scratched by another.
7.1 Good
Pros: Staff is very nice
Cons: Had to switch 3 rooms before finding a working air conditioning unit. Very noisy due to sports bar and casino downstairs.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was huge with 2 king beds. There are 3 of us so the size was great. The people were great, as are most Costa Ricans.
Cons: Beds were hard. There is no direct access to the ocean, across the street.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel Serenity has been recently remodeled and was a perfect place for our stay in Quepos. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The owner was on the premises several times during our stay and was very responsive when I told him about a small issue that needed attention. The pool was a welcome relief from the heat and humidity. Breakfast is served outside in a covered area; eggs are cooked to order! The room was comfortable with air conditioning, a ceiling fan and a small refrigerator to keep drinks cold. The beachfront was half block away and there are plenty of places to eat within a quick walk from the hotel. We came to the coast to visit Manuel Antonio Park, but got the benefit of enjoying Quepos as well.
Cons: There were no negatives about this hotel.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Most of the staff were great! Pool was good and not busy. Water, hot drinks, and fruit availability all day long was a nice touch.
Cons: Breakfast was good, but would have been nice to have a better selection of non-sugary cereals.
6.0 Good
Pros: The location was great and very close to restaurants. The staff was very friendly.
Cons: They only gave you one towel and I had to check out more, which was weird. You were not allowed to take room towels to the pool but they didn't have any pool towels.
7.9 Good
Pros: Staff very helpful more so than any other place we've stayed. Rooms big and pool nice. Good location.
Cons: No hot water and our room was by the breakfast bar so noisy at 7am
8.8 Excellent

Cons: They did noy offered us their parking facilities. We had to park at the street.
7.9 Good
Pros: The location is good and the staff is very nice and helpful.
6.0 Good
Pros: Proximity to the tour agencies. Swimming pool.
Cons: Window above door had no curtain. TV had static. Shower nozzle was clogged. The toilet leaked... We were in room 3. Not enough umbrellas in the pool area. No bacon or sausage for breakfast despite it being an option. Hot and cold water was reversed in the sink. Safe did not work. Not enough outlets. No table or chairs in the room. But the excellent location and pizza place across from it made it ok. They really should provide info about the bars and restaurants in the area.
7.0 Good
Pros: The room had air conditioning, hot water, TV, WiFi, the bed was big and the breakfast was already included which is always nice (it could improve). There's a private parking next to the hotel which makes parking easier.
Cons: The price was a little bit high for the hotel room, for that value you expect a little bit more. The breakfast was very simple.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful garden and swimming pool
Cons: Staff was mainly interested in getting money and time. Wanted us to pay the very first day and not when checking out, as this is usually the case in hotels. Had to ask for a third towel every day, whereas our room was obviously meant for three people. No towels for the pool but you could buy one for 25 dollars !!! Not even a glass of water was offered, everything came with a price.
6.3 Good
Pros: Beautiful landscape and nice staff.
Cons: We got the worst double queen room right at the entrance. The walls are so thin we can hear guesses hanging out in the area or simply checkin out. Didn’t have a single good sleep in 3 nights stay. Parking is doable but relatively scarce. Too far of a walk to center. I don’t recommend.
6.3 Good
Pros: Wi fi issue and Wet room .. but people working made it up and offered breakfast very appreciable thanks
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The centre is a 5 minute walk, perfect location and the pool is refreshing after a day outside. The busstop to the national park is 10 metres from the hotel. Quite perfect. The staff was helpfull with questions and directions and breakfast was delicious.

3.8 Mediocre
Pros: No wifi in the room, they make you feel like you’re going to steal them. The parking is horrible. The breakfast staff was really rude with my boyfriend who couldn’t understand Spanish and couldn’t understand the server. They have a really small space for a lot of people to eat. Staff wasn’t friendly at all
Cons: There’s no connection in the rooms The check in hour isn’t correct Staff was horrible
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We like to stay in town in these small towns. We did not want to be up in the jungle up the hill. The hotel was very comfortable and accommodating. Their rooftop pool and cool jacuzzi was a hit and never crowded. The hotel helped us book a catamaran day trip and had other recommendations as well. Their air conditioners and fans in the rooms were just right and there is onsite parking for a limited number of cars. There are small supermarkets nearby and local restaurants near and fancier restaurants at the harbor which is a 10 min walk or 3 min drive.
7.5 Good
Pros: That the room was clean and spacious. The pool was nice and clean.
Cons: The reception isn’t open until 6:30am and we had to check out early to drive to San Jose and catch our flight. Also, we only had two towels in the room each day (each towel marked with the hotel name with a sharpie).
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The swimming pool was lovely and the room was nice.
Cons: The WiFi did not reach the room. The showers were not as hot as I expected them to be.

Cons: The price we paid was too much for what it offered.

Cons: Driving there is very narrow.

Pros: it was a great experience, very good hotel! The breakfast is very good with a good verity of food for everyone. The main pool is good size, the adult pool a bit small. We used the self laundry service that was very helpful.
