Pros: The hotel decor in this hotel is really well designed. The lobby, the lounge, the restaurant & the rooms were all super cool. We loved it! We stayed in a really great room. It had a living room with a pullout that our 2 year old slept on & a great big king in the bedroom. The bathroom had a really cool clawfoot tub & big shower. I loved the decor in our room! Blackout curtains were great as we were jet lagged & the sun doesn't go down in the Summer iceland. Breakfast was yummy & the coffee was excellent. Everything is VERY expensive in Iceland but this hotel was pricey even for Iceland. Luckily we had a free night from hotels.com do we only had to pay the taxes. I'm very impressed with Canopy by Hilton though & hope to stay in another one of their hotels.
With a stay at Alda Hotel Reykjavik, you'll be centrally located in Reykjavik, steps from Laugavegur and 15 minutes by foot from Reykjavik City Hall. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and multilingual staff.

Pros: The hotel was great. From the atmosphere and decorations to the people working there. The front desk staff were amazing and friendly. They were always ready to help and had a smile on there faces everyday. We got a family sized room for two people just because I heard the rooms might be smaller. However the room was bigger than I expected including the bathroom. You hear that the shower doors fold to make more room. However even extended there is enough room for the other person to use the sink or get ready. The hotel gives you a cell phone with data included, which was honestly amazing. I made the phone into a wifi hotspot and was able to use my own cell phone throughout the trip. Just bring portable charger with you as the phone battery dies quickly this way. The hotel is also located on the main strip and perfect walking distance from restaurants and bars. But a few blocks down so you don't hear the noise of the bars at night.
We never tried the breakfast downstairs as we always had say trips planned in the mornings. There is a bakery down the street that is open early I can't remember the name of it but the front desk told us about it. Big enough to sit down and have breakfast, but gets packed as well so give yourself enough time if you have morning plans.
The room does come with a pot to make your own hot tea and instant coffee if you are in a rush.

Pros: Somehow this isn't mentioned on their website or any reviews I've seen, but Hotel Alda gives each guest an android smartphone in lieu of a room phone. This phone works throughout Iceland, has reception on speed dial, and has all the other bells and whistles you'd expect of s smartphone: maps, activity guides, etc. A great and welcome surprise!

Pros: Interior of the hotel was very clean, location was pretty good, and the free WiFi was useful and worked well. Room was much quieter than many hotels, with earplugs in I only heard hallway noises (not the people next door, above, and below, as is common). Pros: You messed up on my reservation as I did book it through the airline website, so the airline should have communicated to you that my flight left nyc on th, but wouldn't land until fri, so I didn't need th pm accomodations. in any case, I bear some responsibility for this for not picking this up myself. however, when I checked into the hotel fri, they not only wouldn't give us any $ back, but refused to even upgrade our rooms to compensate us for taking our $ for 2 rooms we didn't use on th pm. I pointed out that they were not close to full capacity, so they did not actually lose any revenue by holding our rooms for th pm, they just got revenue they didn't deserve, as no services were rendered. they wouldn't even give us free bar vouchers.

Pros: The service is great, along with it being easily accessible to the area without being right in downtown/touristy area. View is pretty nice of the city from afar too. We enjoyed the hotel for 4 days while doing day trips around the ring road then walking to the nightlife or hotel bar in the evenings. The staff is pretty accommodating to any needs - the bartending staff had a real knowledge of the area and great tips. I would maybe stay here again, but bring my own pillows next time.

Pros: Given a small, quite dated room on top (7th) floor and asked for upgrade but none available. This was not a problem for us as plus points were that it was a clean, quiet room with a comfortable bed and excellent views over the city at night. The hotel itself was very nice apparently with some updating taking place that we never saw or heard whilst there. Credit must be given to the reception staff who were always very pleasant and never put out giving us information and helping us find the best excursions available. The breakfast was very good with a nice choice. We never dined at the hotel after breakfast as we were out and about most of the time but had a few drinks at the bar at night which we thought were expensive but it's roughly the same at most bars/eateries in the city. The hotel was in a very good quiet location within easy reach and walking distance from the main city area. We really liked it here and plan to book again next year as we didn't have time to visit many of the attractions having only booked a 3-night short break. We recommend this hotel.
Excursions - A must is The Blue Lagoon a bit expensive at £125 p.p. with return coach travel but a wonderful experience and would visit again! This price was for the comfort pack that includes a towel and a free drink, it's about £21 p.p. dearer for the Premium pack which includes sandals and a robe. We found the Northern Lights a bit of a let down as we only saw a very small pale green 'glow' nowhere what you see in pictures even though it was a clear sky! The 'Hop On - Hop Off' red bus tour around city is also recommended.

Pros: The room was super clean, had many amenities and was well appointed (bathrobe, slippers, plenty of towels, a safe, cable Tv and radio, Wifi, some complimentary toiletries, coffee &coffee maker, cork screw, many lamps, great system of curtains, bath tub and shower, etc.).
The hotel itself also had many amenities: there are three dining options there ( award winning restaurant, moderate restaurant, and bar fare), a spa and hairdresser in the basement, a bar/lounge with happy hour, a polite and helpful staff, a tourist shop, etc.
Excellent

Pros: The proximity to the city center and ocean, without any hustle and bustle. The staff was amazing and did whatever they could to accommodate. The views of the sea and the mountains were beautiful.
Mediocre
2.5
Pros: This is a avery poorly maintained hotel. The staff is not very informative about the Iceland and very unhelpful to customers.
The rooms are not cleaned properly and customer complaints not
attended promptly. In my five days stay, my room telephone never worked, shower head never fixed, it took two days tho fix the locker.
I had to visit the front desk several times to complain but not much was done. Overall it was a very unpleasant experience. We were a group of 15 people that could not call room to room - had to use what is app to communicate and coordinate activities. So sad

Pros: Checkin is at 2pm however our flight landed very early and we arrived at the hotel just before 8am. They were kind enough to let us check in early otherwise I’m not sure what we would have done. The room was great, we would definitely stay there again.
