Cons: Everything was perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property was easy to find, it was easy to park and the owners warm and welcoming. It felt homey yet fresh, clean and uncluttered and I thought very well decorated. The bed was super comfy with crisp white sheets and a lovely duvet. We really enjoyed the breakfast, there was a small selection of cold options (including fresh berries and yoghurt) and fresh juice, and full cooked breakfast to order - delightful. Plus, local recommendations and warm friendly conversation with the owners! Really wonderful find.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly hosts but gave us space. Beautiful cooked breakfast.
Cons: I have no complaints. It suited our needs perfectly.

Pros: Excellent welcome and shown to my room - help with my bags if I wanted it. Room spacious with a quality en-suite. Room and bathroom were very clean. Breakfast was excellent quality produce and well presented
Cons: Hard to criticise because there were so many excellent features. If I wanted to be pedantic one could suggest that the television in the room could have been larger - but I am having to try to find something to critic!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect. There was nothing we didn't like. The bedroom and the bathroom were very spacious and clean. The bed was extremely comfortable. We stayed two nights and wished we had stayed longer. We had dinner twice at the restaurant and everything was delicious. Cyrille and Paula are wonderful hosts. The place is beautifully furnished. It is ideally located to visit Stonehenge (and there are many interesting sites to visit nearby). We will definitely stay there again, it was such a "coup de cœur"!

Pros: The room was spotless, such a comfortable bed, great little bathroom and I loved the homemade biscuits. Breakfast was plentiful and freshly cooked, and our hosts really friendly and helpful.
Cons: One very small thing...could I suggest that David and Wenda provide an small extension lead? There was only one socket and a single charging point on the radio It was a bit irritating to have to keep unplugging the kettle to use the hair dryer or charge my phone...

7.0 Good
Pros: Good breakfast, host very welcoming. Good location just a mile or so from city centre.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful room, with nice extra touches like the well lit mirror, coffee machine, sofa and a big tele which I curled up infront of with a cheeky gin and a bun. I was attending Salisbury to visit a loved one in hospital and it was lovely to have somewhere private and relaxing to get back to, which felt homely and comfortable. The staff were friendly but left me alone (which I loved). The value for money was fantastic and I will definitely be back.
Cons: If I was being very picky, there was a hair which wasn’t mine in the fresh towels and the shower wasn’t the cleanest it could be. Do not however, let this deter a visit. As it was overall, very clean and beautiful!
6.0 Good
Pros: The rooms are very nicely fitted out, warm and comfortable. The staff are friendly and the breakfast available is nice. Given that it is on a main road the rooms are dead quiet which is lovely. All in all it was pleasant.
Cons: Given that you have to pay for breakfast, there is no-onsite restaurant or bar for the evenings and that is a bit more out of town than other places we have stayed I do feel it is a bit overpriced for what you get. In addition to which having to pay in advance and not being able to cancel and get a partial refund is frustrating as plans may change.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Good location for my trip but also nice setting.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic place to stay. Friendly welcome, superb room with the biggest bed ever. Spotlessly clean everywhere and quiet. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend to anyone
Cons: Would have loved to stay for longer!

Cons: Google maps wasn’t overly helpful in finding the property.

Compasses Inn - Salisbury - Building
5
9.2 Excellent (409 reviews)
S$ 164+
Overview Reviews
Located in Salisbury, The Compasses Inn is in the historical district, within a 15-minute drive of Messums Wiltshire and Wardour Castle. Free self parking is available onsite.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Warm welcome and excellent service at dinner and breakfast. Good food and drink, in very atmospheric old pub, and good value. Empathetic response from duty manager to the two issues (see below).
Cons: No sound-proofing of Room 1 whatsoever - could hear all conversations from pub area below. And whilst two specific problems affected our stay (limited hot water, and no cooked breakfast due to work in kitchen), these were compensated for.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A classic Country pub in a peaceful Wiltshire village. The pub is very traditional and has welcoming, cosy atmosphere, with lots of little seating areas plus a bonus log fire. There is a great selection of locally sourced food and drink and particular mention should go to the breakfast which is fantastic. The rooms are a complimentary contrast (in a great way) to the traditional pub, decorated in a calm white with mid-century finishes. We particularly enjoyed the freshly baked snacks that were delivered to our room each afternoon, a very welcome treat after long walks in the beautiful countryside! This was our second visit and I'm sure we will be back again!
Cons: Nothing, we love it here!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous old pub. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great restaurant. We stayed in the cottage. Lots of room, warm and very comfortable. Cannot recommend enough. Lots of windy roads but worth the drive.
Cons: Nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Food was superb as was the hospitality from the staff and owner. Amazing views. Pud is lovely.
Cons: The cottage we stayed in was nice, and suited our needs well but a lot of the rooms didn’t have working lightbulbs. Could do with a deep clean - wasn’t dirty, but some hidden areas like under beds could do with attention. Would go back though and would recommend.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful Scandi styled rooms with old worldly charm of the pub below
Cons: The noise from the pub came into the room and continue until 12am
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Not the most obvious place to find in the dark, but once there couldn't be happier. Spacious and comfortable 3 beds 92 singles) and warm - not always a given for small, old buildings. Breakfast in adjoining pub plentiful and tasty.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything. Friendliest staff possible. Room was beautifully simple yet comfortable and warm and bed was also very comfortable. The food was excellent in all ways. Will definitely return.
Cons: Nothing not to like. Price of food was higher than we expected, but then we come from an area where eating out tends not to be as expensive. Can't fault the quality of the food though.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room, comfortable bed, good bathroom, helpful staff.
Cons: Not so much a didn't like, but could have done with a couple more coat hangers, and that was the only downside.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Greta breakfast, friendly staff, superb location for centre and cathedral.
7.0 Good
Pros: Good location and friendly staff in the restaurant
Cons: We had a fire alarm very early this morning (6.00 ish). It turned out to be a false alarm. However, concerned that there wasn't a member of staff around other than someone in the kitchen or that there wasn't a roll call to check on guests.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Fab location and great breakfast. We ate here also with some friends tin the evening excellent food and service.
7.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was good and varied enough as to our requirements.
Cons: Room Quaint & Quirky. too small.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: great room. nice decor. breakfast was good.
Cons: there was no reception as such. you checked in and out at the bar. Old building so expect creaky floorboards charming nevertheless
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great character and the food was fabulous. Will definitely return.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. The quirkiness. The quality. The friendliness.
Cons: Liked everything
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing is good - have maybe once been a charming pub with rooms upstairs.
Cons: Receive your guests friendly with respect. Our booking though booking.com - the hotel only had 1 room booked even I had a mail with a confirmation for 2 rooms. Water was dripping from the ceiling when it rained. Due maintenance of the rooms and restaurant, make fresh food etc etc…..
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Relaxing and very central for shopping.
Cons: NA
4.4 Okay
Pros: If you happen to be traveling to salisbury and want to tour the cathedral, you can't get a better location as it is right across from the entrance to the grounds. The staff were very friendly and competent, the rooms were well maintained and the bathrooms were spacious and very clean. But this inn is very old, the rooms are very tight, and it just isn't that comfortable. We did not feel there was adequate value for our rate of GBP100/night (jul09).
3.2 Mediocre
Pros: the quantness of the place, floors and walls sloping in all direction, which is not suprising for a building over 400 years old.
Cons: Very poor value for money, no services, reception closed @ 1800pm, no hotel lounge as such, only a bar/resteraunt.
7.2 Good
Pros: Clean and tidy with the only non-euclidean staircase in existence.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff and a great ability to fulfil all our needs! I booked the hotel initially for my wedding night! We ended up having our wedding reception there as well and was a fabulous day, food and service was great and couldnt ask for any better - Big thank you to the hotel!
Cons:
5.6 Okay
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant for both brekfast and dinner was excellent if a little expensive for the dinner.
Cons: No phones in the rooms. No room service. No shower caps in bathroom. It was a lovely hotel for a break but not for business use. I was hoping to recommend this hotel for business use but without the first 2 facilites above I am unable to do so.
4.8 Okay
Pros: Location. Staff made a real effort to be helpful.
Cons: No telephone in room. No explanation of use of 4 keys or how to lock room. Locked in the hotel when all staff went off for part of Sunday. The low service level does not reflect the high price. The operation seemed rahter amateur in terms of customer service.
7.2 Good
Pros: Altogether a very charming and unusual hotel. Very friendly staff and high attention to details.
Cons: The long walk from the Car Park - over 10mins walk with luggage. The cooked breakfast, although lovely, was a little small. And kept awake by talking on the first night until 2.30am and by another guest at 3am the next evening walking through and banging doors! Arghhhh!! But this did not put us off our stay, but think the price could be a little lower.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: location
Cons: The hotel was dirty, no air conditioning and expensive. The kettle was missing from the room and the curtains were held back with a safety pin which cut my finger!

Cons: Parking on site such a homely bnb
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We received a very warm, genuine welcome when we arrived. Our room was fantastic. It was huge, well equipped with the most comfortable bed we've ever had in a guest house! Even the bedding was luxurious! Breakfast was fantastic and my vegan diet was well catered for. (I did email in advance). We travelled, by train, to Salisbury for the Christmas Market. The location of Websters is perfect - just a 10 minute walk from the station on a lovely quiet cul-de-sac. Far enough from town for it to be quiet yet a very easy, flat walk to the shopping area. (15 minutes at most). Tasteful Christmas decorations throughout the guest house made our weekend even more festive. And Gus was the icing on the cake!
Cons: Nothing to dislike at all!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Setting and atmosphere
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is located in the countryside which adds that extra uniqueness to the hotel because of style and cosiness. The room was very beautiful, the bed - very comfy. They've got 2 fire places in the restaurant. Loved the smell of the fire while having a dinnner.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Welcoming, hospitable, did what it said on the tin. Will go again and recommend.
Cons: Nothing
5.0 Okay
Pros: Decoration of the room.
Cons: This place is caught between a rock and a hard place. Most of their revenue I think comes from the restaurant at the expense of the hotel. When I arrived after travelling for 10hrs I couldn't find a parking space. Staff were good without any sense of customer service the bear minimum seemed to be acceptable.

Cons: The food at dinner was abysmal! From a Health and safety point of view the entrance from the car park for a disabled person was very poor, the ramp was inadequate there is no handrail and the door extremely hard to open.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Old hotel with bags of character mixed with modern accommodation wing. We had a large, spacious bedroom with seating outside overlooking river. Comfortable bed, Nespresso coffee maker, powerful hairdryer. Great evening meal in restaurant, followed by great cooked breakfast the next day, both served by attentive staff.
Cons: The weather!! Nothing to do with the hotel, I know - lol!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: nice breakfast. about 10 mintues to walk to the centre, lovely views from the bedroom, spacious room
Cons: the bed was a bit hard
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location and great price
Cons: Room was cold and heating could not be adjusted
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location (so near to the cathedral for the (Sunday morning service) was superb.
Cons: Somehow we were charged for an extra breakfast so we probably slipped up on our choices and weren't informed.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: OK, but there were better breakfasts available at a cost. But the cost of your continental breakfast was not deductible from the cost of the full English; you still paid for the continental breakfast you didn't have. Or so it seemed.
Cons: Going across the courtyard in the rain from the very nice lodge to the hotel entrance.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Helpful staff, nice location. It would be great in summer nest to the river

9.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were really helpful. I'd forgotten to tell them I'd had recent foot surgery but we were allocated a much more accessible room so that I didn't have so many stairs to climb. The view from our room was lovely, we woke to views over the meadows to the cathedral. Breakfast was really good and plentiful. Parking facilities were excellent.
Cons: It was a little difficult to access the bath and some of the electric sockets in the room ended attention.
10.0 Excellent

7.4 Good
Pros: Lovely setting Good sized rooms Friendly Staff
Cons: Some parts of the hotel looking a bit tired Breakfast not included in price
8.0 Excellent
Pros: We did not have breakfast at the hotel as we got up extremely early to go to Stonehenge for the Winter Solstice. However, the check-in staff were very helpful and were prepared to look after our motorcycle helmets, jackets etc while we went into Salisbury for lunch as we arrived earlier than the check-in time. Our room was lovely with a view of the rivers and across the field to the cathedral. The hotel itself was easy to access and only a short pleasant walk from Salisbury city centre.

Cons: The shower didn't have much power
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel. Beautiful room. Staff very friendly. Food nice enough.
Cons: Stray pube in the shower. Had to wash that away.... car park too small and a squeeze to get in spaces. Breakfast wasn’t very nice
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The courtyard, the ivy, the little quirks
Cons: Some rooms get too hot in hot weather
9.0 Excellent
Pros: I stayed in the oldest hotel in Europe which was built in 1220 for the engineers and managers who were building the Salisbury Cathedral. It’s amazing experience you stay in a 800 year old hotel! Very clean, friendly staff, good location.
Cons: The water boiling does not work.
8.0 Excellent
Cons: Room was noisy from the road traffic
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We can say that we loved the stay - we got a room upgrade so our kids loved having separate beds for themselves, breakfast was varied and delicious. The hotel is old (just celebrating 800 years) but it was only fun and no trouble navigating through its numerous corridors and levels! Good stay.
Cons: Nothing we would mention.
7.9 Good
Pros: Lovely old building in a central location. Friendly, helpful staff. The suite and the bath!
Cons: The bedding! Sheets and a too heavy throw. Haven’t they heard of duvets? Cheap pillows
2.0 Mediocre
Cons: The rooms were not as advertised - much poorer condition and far from adequate. The walls have no sound proofing you can hear the occupants of the next room having sex and you can hear the TV playing clearly in the other room. Bathroom was old and dirty and the view from the room was of a dirty rooftop of the other side of the building. Overall a dreadful experience.
5.1 Okay
Pros: Location, courtyard nice except..., price not unreasonable.
Cons: Feel duped. Booked a "historical" room based on a picture of a charming room offered when booking. Got to room and it was a B minus take on modern. Asked at desk and was told all the rooms had been renovated, they were updating the website. Too late. False advertising. Internet horrible to the point of being useless, rooms very hot in summer. Kegs and chairs stacked/stored in the courtyard ruin the charm and ambiance. Shocked at the five star rating. Would hate to see an even four star property...
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Location is great, and the buildings amazing--all ivy and period charm. Hard to do better.
Cons: Bedrooms vary a bit. Some are great, others a little small.
