I didn’t ever get my reservation because the man at the counter of budget tried to charge my card $583.54 and didn’t tell me that it would be that much till my bank declined it because of the amount, he then told me that I could call the support number while I was on the phone he was laughing at me on the phone and telling me to stop talking to the lady about the charges.

I arrived to pick up my reserved car and there were NO cars available. I was turned away at the counter and, although the employees were extremely polite and tried to be helpful, I was left stranded because there were no cars available for rent, none!

This location was weird. Staff were in street clothes; no uniform or uniformity. I wasn’t told what kind of car I was assigned just that it was on the second floor of the parking garage. I wasn’t instructed how to get to the second floor of the parking garage where the car was located. I was told I’d need a ticket to get out but since they weren’t able to provide one, I’d just need to let the security guard know so they’d let me out. And I was instructed upon returning the car to bring the ticket from entering the garage and to take a picture of the mileage and fuel level so that they could use that instead of going to check themselves. I would only rent from here again if it was the only location left to rent a car from in the entire city.

I went to pick up the car with my kayak confirmation number and there weee NO cars available- Jayak never checked with Avis. I had a very very ill child to transport…. I was overwhelmed and this made it untenable

They gave me a pickkup time that was the closing time of that location, so when I arrived to pick up a 7:00pm car at 7:20, they were closed. The individual there yelled at me for being late, and told me to call customer service, which I did. Customer service assured me that I could return and pick up the car at 7 the next morning instead. I asked if there would still be a car, because I know there is a window period for most car companies. He assured me there would be. The next morning, I was informed that I had lost my reservation because it was cancelled by the company when I failed to show up in the 2-hour "window period" from 7-9pm (when they were closed). Because I had lost my reservation, they tried to charge me $500 for a 4-day rental that previously had been $192. They yelled at me again for having shown up "late" the night before because they work 12-hour days and can't sit around waiting for people to come get their cars. It was only after I refused to pay it (because I had not been authorized to spend that amount) that they adjusted it down to $250. It was an awful and stressful experience.

Pros:

The car was like new, no issues.

Cons:

Why was I allowed to book a drop-off location that was closed on Memorial Day? The person at the Avis counter made ME call Avis to find a solution. The car also didn't have a full tank of gas.

Pros:

Staff was friendly. However, did not make clear that there was no key drop box for late night drop off. This location is in a hotel. Hard to imagine why this would be the case. Very inconvenient return.
