Pros: It is a lovely place, well decorated with comfortable and clean facilities - good room, shower and toilets. Mama san is the best ever, greet me with warm smiles everyday. I feel like home there. One of the best place I have stayed
5.4 Okay
Pros: - nice landscape to escape from big cities
Cons: - Location: We landed at Memanbetsu Airport, our bus departure was later than it supposed to be. We thought we would arrived at 8:30pm at Masuura station, but once our bus arrived at Abashiri station, the next train was at 10:20pm. So we took the cab from Abashiri and arrived at Masuura station later with 15min late. We called the the host who sounded a bit angry. We understood we were late, but who would know that the public transportation would be like that?! Few minutes later, a lady came to pick us up. She learnt that we didn't have any foods with us for dinner, so she drove us to the closest convenient store, which was pretty nice from her. If you know you'll arrive late in the evening, better choose an accommodation closer to Abashiri. - Room: narrow room for 2. It was a bunk bed, which was fine, but we found the upper bedd with dead mosquitoes and insects. We asked the host to come into the room. They said they forgot to change the bed sheet, so they immediately changed it and apologized. - Bathroom: there was only 1 shower for the whole house and everyone was waiting. It was like the faster or closer you stayed next to the shower room, the quicker you could get your shower. It was a bit embarrassing to do that with other guests. The hosts should implement a schedule and time slot to each guest, because some guests would stay for hours inside, whereas we just wanted to get a quick shower and rest. - Price: for the same price, you can get better services and facilities in big cities in a guesthouse
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice place with nice owners, thank you for everything mama !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host is so nice to pick us up from the satiation and offer us fruit , we are so moved!
6.7 Good
Pros: Nice owners and also cozy place.
Cons: There was just one shower for whole house, I had to wait long time.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The upstairs loft had it’s own lounge area where it was possible to stay up late browsing the internet without disturbing anyone downstairs. The staff were willing to drive me into town whenever I asked them and even came to pick me up from a restaurant that I had walked to several miles away.
Cons: The price to do laundry was higher than I’ve seen at other guest houses.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Outstanding friendliness of host mother and father, quiet atmosphere: the hostel surrounded by nothing but fields, reasonable price.
Cons: It was really comfortable, but if there were full of guests, then it could be with little difficulties to sleep.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Yummy dinner and breakfast. Large room. Good view.
Cons: No lift.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Dinner and breakfast is good. Our rooms are on Level 3 and onsen/restaurant on Level 1. Hence, need to climb up/down many times a day. Good thing, they have a 1/2 size life to transport our luggages. It will be good if we were given rooms on Level 2. There's a wetland behind the hotel which seem to attract a number of tourists. The staff were extremely friendly/helpful.
Cons: The tiny washroom/toilet. Bathed at the onsen (empty most of the time) and used the common toilets on Level 1 which are much bigger.

Cons: The staff had minimal English ability and seemed awkward with foreign guests.
9.6 Excellent

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was big enough for 2 person.
Cons: Breakfast was not that good. However, the price was included.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: - The restaurant on the property. - Great selection of both Japanese & Western foods for the breakfast buffet. - The Japanese style pjs. You can even wear them in the restaurant. - The view from the top (9th) floor. - My room was right beside the elevator, but I didn't hear a thing. Maybe I slept extra deeply that night. - Enough info in English.
Cons: The public bath room (ladies, of course) was smaller than I anticipated. It's not their fault and perhaps I was spoiled with the ones I've visited before. Just know with 5 other ladies there, it will feel cramped.
6.7 Good
Cons: Very small room, old hotel
7.5 Good
Pros: Near Train Station.
Cons: Hotel restaurant closed for weekend.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: It's right in front of the train station and free parking. It is convenient for travelers who use the train. We rented a car so the free parking was great and it is easy to find. Overview Reviews
Located in Abashiri, Abashiri Ryuhyou no Oka Youth Hostel is within a 15-minute drive of Ryuhyo Glass Museum and Abashiri Historical Museum. Featured amenities include luggage storage and laundry facilities. Free self parking is available onsite.
6.3 Good
Pros: Comfy fluffy duvets.
Cons: Soulless. Quite far from town but fine with a car. Very anonymous staff - barely any communication.
4.2 Okay
Pros: Not very much
Cons: The owner is a control freak, it's all about him.He was banging around at 10.30 at night. The only time you can have breakfast is 7am. Then he was vacuuming outside our room at 7.30 in the morning. Very unfriendly atmosphere, no where to sit and relax in the rooms or in the hostel. You couldnt make yourself tea or coffee. We left a day early because we were totally dissatisfied. We love staying in hostels but this one was everything a hostel shouldn't be.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The owner gave me a lift from train station to the hostel, and back to the train station, even though I departed really early.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The offered ride to and from the hostel (since it's a bit far from station)
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location of this hostel is exceptional in terms of views of the sea and the scenery. Sometimes the hosts drove us. They were very forthcoming.
Cons: The only downside of the unique location is that it is a bit remote for people without car. You need a taxi (about JPY 1,000 one way).
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Overlooking view of the sea from the kitchen
Cons: Only one bathroom so it can be troublesome if there are too many people
5.4 Okay
Pros: Quiet, surprisingly comfortable bed, or maybe I was just really tired.
Cons: I told the owner that I'd arrive by train at 20:24 repeatedly, but he insisted that I call once I arrived at the station for pick-up service. He told me to use a public phone when I told him I didn't have a sim card for calls, but I couldn't find the phone booth (I saw it the next day, outside). I ended up taking a taxi, and every other time going to and from the hostel I just walked. Owner seems to be a little inflexible regarding the times to use the shuttle service to the station. Location 35 minute walk from station. Very poor shower room, didn't even shower my last night because it felt cleaner not to.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our host was very attentive
6.3 Good
Pros: Breakfast was really good although very early in the morning. And there was a pickup service.
Cons: It's really far outside so once you are up there (by pick up service) you won't get back to town. Since I was the only guest it was quite lonely.

Cons: Building and rooms were old. Decor was outdated. Not very clean baths (mold spotted on walls and ceilings).
9.2 Excellent
Pros: This is an traditional Japanese hotel. All facilities and decorations are old but in good condition. The staffs are friendly and helpful. The dinner and buffet breakfast are nice.
Cons: Nil

6.7 Good
Pros: Nice owners and also cozy place.
