Misled on the type of car.
Pros: The vehicle had great gas mileage.
Cons: I reserved an intermediate. At the pick-up counter I was told none were available. Felt this was deceptive. Reminded me of a Seinfeld episode.

Pros: the one day charge was reasonable
Cons: that we had to drive one vehicle from wilmington to columbia to save $600, and then turn right around and rent another vehicle from columbia back to wilminton for $100. VERY STUPID way of doing business, especially as the first car had a NC plate.

Pros: Staff pleasant at pick up and return. At return, representative was sympathetic to the situation.
Cons: Car smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. The shocks had to have been shot as ride very uncomfortable and felt like car was coming apart when hitting the slightest bump.. The change oil light kept coming on. The car was not clean. The radio had horrible reception. Hands down the worst vehicle I have ever rented.

Cons: I returned the car with a full tank but was hit with a $25 gas charge anyway. I can dispute it but that involves getting a copy of the receipt from my credit card company (takes 30 days) and then forwarding it on to Hertz, which is kind of an ordeal. There's little doubt in my mind that employees are trained to do this since most customers won't pick up on the extra charge or won't be willing to go through the process of getting it refunded. I won't be renting from Hertz again since I don't like doing business with companies that steal from customers.

Three times but no charm
Pros: It took us 3 tries to get a sort of functioning vehicle. The first smelled like an ashtray. Back to the airport. The second had something wrong with the rear wheel. Back to the airport The third had a broken latch on the passenger side seatbelt. While the customer service was good, the cars weren't, and we spent half our vacation taking them back.
Cons: No where to park car on return- not enough spaces

Poor customer service
Cons: When I arrived for drop off, there was no one at the counter or lot to check me in. I waited 15 minutes and called the number on the business card. No answer
I then called customer service and go instructions on how to drop the keys.

Pros: The ease of renting the car. Everyone was helpful, and the car was nice. Being able to drop off the car at my destination without a drop off fee was great. The agent that checked the car in was very nice and helpful.

Cons: It smelled like cigarettes, they did not hold my reservation after I called that I would be late. The rate doubled and there was a $33 fee for a dropoff 1 hour late.

Pros: The gentleman at the counter in Wilmington was very kind and knowledgeable!
Cons: The car was filthy! The passenger side had dried, spilled drink on the door and seat which could easily have been cleaned up. The outside hadn't been washed in what appeared to be weeks with tons of dead bugs smashed on the windshield making visibility poor.
Pros: Alamo offered a great, competitive price and I was "upgraded" to a mid-size car because I believe it was the last one on the lot (even though I'm more of a compact driver). Alamo rep was friendly but clearly could have used some help since he was by himself at the desk. Paperwork was all in order.
Cons: I landed at Wilmington, NC at about 9 at night and there was a long line of people waiting to get cars. Not all had advance reservations. It was explained to me that the insurance I purchased was a Kayak policy and not as comprehensive as Alamo's, which was slightly more expensive. I said I would opt for Alamo, but that would have involved contacting Kayak and canceling previous contract. I was super-annoyed by that consumer tactic.

Pros: Dropoff was quick/simple, and staff was very friendly. Also the car was new and very good on gas.
Cons: The rental information on the third-party website needs to be updated! It says the underage fee for North and South Carolina is $10/day. However, when I got there I was told the fee was $25/day. Since all other rental companies were out of cars for the day, I was stuck paying $100+ more than I anticipated; not cool Alamo! Also, my car had not been vacuumed as there were candy wrappers and such on the carpets/between seats.

Pros: First time renting with Alamo. The ladies at the desk for pick up and drop off were excellent. Extremely knowledgeable. vehicle was so clean.
Cons: I am NOT a fan of foreign vehicles. I do not like how they feel, I do not like how they drive, I really do not like where the controls for things are. They are not comfortable. Could not wait to turn it back in...I wish there was a selection of Domestic vehicles available...

Cons: I paid for the rental thru kayak and then was told my card wasn't accepted thru Alamo. The people at the counter in the airport were RUDE. The folks at the 800 were worse. No one listened to my complaint and did anything about it and I'm STILL waiting for my ENTIRE refund

Average car rental
Pros: I liked that our car was ready when we got there, but that is expected.
Cons: I didn't like how the car only had 1/4 tank of fuel. I would expect a car rental facility to make sure the tank is full when loaning out. The exterior of the car was very dirty, and also had tons of bugs plastered over the front grill and windshield area. Also, I got two sets of keys (with big fobs) but they were linked together with cable so I had to carry around both sets of keys, a little unnecessary in my opinion.

Cons: The CDW insurance at $24.99/day is a ripoff. They practically beat you over the head to buy it and, when you call to cancel, the give you a song-and'dance routine and send you from one Enterprise office to the next. They are gamers. I will NEVER EVER use them again!! And I used to be a fan. They lost a customer.

Pros: I was the last rental thanks to the internet I just beat the couple walking in . Enterprise just rented the last car didn't upgraded me to a truck for a reasonable prices with a tank of gas . Great service !

Pros: The entire process from beginning to end was excellent. The price was right, the customer service was exceptional, and upgrade that we got was wonderful!
We drove a Rav 4 and not only was it comfortable for our trip, it got roughly 30 miles to the gallon. It was roomy enough for all 3 of us plus luggage with quick response and great turning radius.
We had a terrible experience last year with a competitor and kept waiting for the other shoe to drop. But Enterprise was exceptional through the entire process and honored what the promised and more.
We will never rent from another company and highly recommend these guys.

Cons: I had to rent a different car for double the money and wait an hour and a half!
Pros: Easy drop off. Easy pick up. We received a complimentary upgrade that we appreciated.
Cons: The truck we received as an upgrade was great except it did not have running boards. Next to impossible to get in and out of.

Disappointed and felt pressured/taken advantage of
Cons: I was expecting to rent a car and when I got there they only had a pick up truck, Jeep and a Dodge Moreno. I felt The rental guys was trying to take advantage of me and pressure me into paying for a more expensive car even thought it wasn't my fault they didn't have the car I was expecting to drive. I was incredibly dissapointed in the serivce and more than likely will not rent from Thrifty again.

Cons: Car that I reserved was present however I was told that they were saving for an elderly lady later that day. Instead I was offered a pickup truck which defeated the purpose of renting a car in the first place (mpg on a road trip). They couldn't be bothered to hold up their end of the reservation however if the tables were turned I assure you I would still be stuck paying if I didn't honor my part.

Pros: Nice upgrade since they were running short of vehicles
Cons: Think something got spilled or someone got sick in the car based on bits I overheard and VERY strong smell of Febreze. But I got some disinfectant cloths and kept the windows down for the first day and it worked out okay.

Good on a budget!
Pros: I liked the fuel economy for the size vehicle I rented. I rented the 15 passenger van and was very surprised at the fuel economy for such a big vehicle. I really liked the size and price of the rental. if you have a big group or a lot of cargo, this is the way to go! it had me wanting to possibly purchase a vehicle similar to this is the future.
Cons: When I picked the vehicle up the attendant told me the low tire air message was on and gave me some lame excuse to why it was on. She had no idea what she was talking about which made me a little apprehensive about the rental. The van was not as clean as I would have liked but it wasn't nasty either. There was dirt and debris on the floors and the drink holders in the passenger area had spilt drink in them along with a chicken bone on the floor. I didn't like when I dropped it off and no one came out to do the damage inspection.

Unacceptable ploy to provoke the customer to pay m
Cons: I scheduled to pick up the car at 7:30 in the morning but was not able to take a car from you because my insurance company was not open until 10 a.m. and I was told that you needed verification that I have insurance or I would have to pay your $25 insurance. Of course, I declined and moved over to the next counter, Alamo, to get a car from them. My question is, if you know that you cannot give a person a car until their insurance company opens to verify the insured, why bother opening before office hours? I felt misled that there would be a car available for me at 7:30 a.m., and I believe that insisting that I would have to wait for verification from my insurance company that I am insured is only a ploy to get the customer to pay $25 extra so that they can get out of there. As I said, I declined; and within five minutes I had a car given to me by your competitor without any insurance hassles.

Clerk Cried and said she hates Thrifty
Pros: The desk clerk did not have any cars in stock, only a minivan and 2 full size Ram hemi-engine, enormous trucks in bright red with huge tires. After I told her I didn't want either, she started crying and hyperventilating and saying she hated working for Thrifty. She was unable to come up with any solutions, so I had to take the truck. Obviously a truck this size ate up gasoline and was very inefficient.
Cons: Clerk cried at the counter, had a nervous breakdown, said she hated Thrify. She said she doesn't have a manager and only one other person works at that location.
