Migiwatei Ochi Kochi - Fukuyama - Building

9.2 Excellent (360 reviews)

Overview Reviews
When you a stay at Migiwatei Ochi Kochi in Fukuyama, you'll be on the waterfront, just steps from Setonaikai National Park and Tomonoura Port. Featured amenities include complimentary wired Internet access, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location and very modern facilities. Individual hot tub/ onsen with fantastic view. Can also reserve private onsen (much larger) with same view. Breakfast and especially dinner will be the best you will have on your trip unless you go to a REALLY expensive Kaiseiki restaurant in Tokyo or Kyoto. Even then I'm not sure it will be better. Really nice to get away from tourist circuit. I think we were the only non-Japanese couple. Although we had to use our phone translation app to communicate with staff it was not a problem at all. Yes it's expensive but for what is offered it's worth the cost. Splurge for a night if you can squeeze it in your itinerary, you won't regret it.
Cons: Nothing at all. Wish we could have stayed longer.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Although most staff had limited English they went out of there way to be helpfull and we did communicate. The room was well appointed and the view was gorgeous. The meals were excellent.

Pros: The pleasant staff, nice sized room which had beds for 3 for 3 of us, not 2 as often we find when traveling as a family of 3.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Big twin room. Super clean. Nice staff and helpful. Various and good buffet breakfast (continental - chinese - japanese). Discount to the super onsen just front of the hotel.
Cons: Bit noisy if the room is front of the avenue. No snack available in the machine or room. Bit far of the JR line but 5min by bus (stop just front of the hotel!). 10-12min by foot. Not really english staff or english manuel for air co but easy to understand.
7.9 Good
Pros: The breakfast is good for business hotels.
Cons: The staff's English needs to be brushed up.
7.5 Good
Pros: business hotel style with huge room
Cons: a bit old style
7.5 Good
Pros: Amenities like tooth brush, shaver, etc are centralized at the reception. You take what you need at any time. Unlimited drinks are served by drinks machine at lobby. Feel free to take the Buffet Breakfast to your room if you wish, but do bring the whole tray back to the serving area. Do your own trashing and stack up the tray, cutlery, plates and bowls. This is very typical Japanese civilized way of self-clean up. And parking is free.
Cons: They do not have mattress if you have a 3rd party in a double room. Make sure you book triple room if you have a child with you.

Good to be able to get a coffee or soft drink (free) on ground floor. Breakfast mainly great choice of Japanese, but very good breads if prefer western.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Right next to train station, across road from castle and close to restaurants.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent, large room with a chair and table for reading and looking at the view of Fukuyama Castle!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view of the Castle from our window!! Proximity to station but quiet Good food choices in station mall
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location is fantastic right by the castle.
Cons: Buffet breakfast was all japanese we ended up eating out instead.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: location, comfy, breakfast, clean
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast is good.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The room was large and well- appointed, with lots of space for luggage, hanging clothes and drawer space. The bathroom was basic, but better than most biz hotel bathrooms. The castle view was fantastic, it was just right there in your face. One of the best "this or that view" rooms on this trip of more than 60 hotel stays. I love fresh air at night, so I really appreciated that the window opened all the way, kudos to this hotel for that. The breakfast had a small selection, but it was delicious and with a couple of unusual items, very good. Steps from the station, it could not be more convenient.
Cons: Nothing, really- they have done well with this property.

4.2 Okay
Pros: I can’t say anything positive other than the location close to the station.
Cons: This was a dreadful hotel. The worst thing was the awful smell in the tiny room, from the bathroom overnight. It was totally awful and made us feel ill and unable to sleep. The hotel was not friendly or welcoming and I would not recommend this hotel.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: + Great location near the station + Tea making facilities on the floor + Nice onsen
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Free espresso coffee all day in the lobby. Good breakfast. Great location. Nice rooms.
Cons: Rooms are a little small as is typical in Japan.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was OK. Although not many Western options.
Cons: Hotel felt a little tired. But OK for the price.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I absolutely adore the girl at the front desk. Her customer care skills are at the highest level, she tailored everything to our needs, gave us a bigger room at a new building they opened as a new hotel (Anchor hotel I believe), showed us around and was always very cheerful and helpful. The hotel itself is very nice and clean, the new building, which i in fact a converted apartment building, has big rooms with all amenities imaginable. We even got a balcony which is as rare as it comes in Japan. Location is perfect a few steps from the station and castle with a convenience store inbetween. Breakfast had a huge variety, including a selection of several curry types and a whole cabinet of herbal tea.
Cons: The dressing room at the onsen was kept a bit too cool, I'm not sure if it was the cause or if it only contributed but I got swimmer's ear soon after visiting. Another minor inconvenience was that when I went to the laundry room floor the corridor was filled with tobacco smoke.
7.5 Good
Pros: Location and staff is great. Lobby and breakfast is good. Free coffee in lobby.
Cons: Room was very small for two people. Also, room and hallway seemed outdated.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location just moments from the station, so perfect for getting out to places. Basic room but clean and comfortable.
Cons: Small room, but what we expected for the price.

6.3 Good
Pros: The swimming pool was okay, but hysterically hot. We could not stay for more than a couple of minutes.
Cons: The staff did not speak to us at all. Normally if japanese dont speak english they explain things in japanese and you can sort of figure stuff out. But they were just dead quiet and even when we spoke japanese to then they would not answer, just look embarrassed. It was all very weird! We went out to find food, but the area is filled with clubs with men hanging around outside and did not feel very safe for me and my 11 year old. Cannot recommend this place if you are travelling with children!
7.1 Good
Pros: Good
Cons: No
2.5 Mediocre
Cons: I prebooked the private bath but the front staff gave me the wrong paper with wrong password. :s So I couldn’t get in the right one and the worst is that the staff did not apologize and just said お願いします. Won’t book this hotel again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our stay was comfortable and the top floor onsen was wonderful!
6.7 Good
Pros: very clean room and premises
Cons: Walls were very thin, we could hear everything happening in the corridors. The staff speaks really little English. Area a bit dodgy at night.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Onsen on the rooftop and nice clean rooms
Cons: Breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice staff, good breakfast, welcoming atmosphere
