10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved BayHouse B and B. Rooms are beautiful and the lanai and view just perfect. Our hosts were so kind. They were eager to give tips for enjoying the area. We stayed 3 nights. Wish it could have been longer. Breakfast was different everyday and so delicious and plentiful. If you get the chance, stay here
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Close to town. Could walk to restaurants and shops. Great farmer market on Wednesdays
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Sea View, the calm of the ocean, the breakfast, the comfort and the charm of the room.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Would highly recommend this little gem! Nice and close to the national park and food etc. Nicole, the owner, was so warm and welcoming. The rooms have been newly renovated and are exceptionally clean the comfortable! There is even a sweet little private spot outside your room where you can have a drink in the afternoon and relax amongst the greenery! The food for breakfast was delicious with a range of fruit, freshly baked breads and yoghurt/muesli! Thank you for a wonderful experience :)
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The scenery to the room and waves sound that puts you to sleep. Very comfortable bed. And Teena is a great host Love the breakfast she freshly prepared early in the morning Sitting in the out side spar right next to sea is amazing
Cons: Basically nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean Comfortable bed Strong WiFi
Cons: Could have used a stronger cup of coffee (I like it strong)but the papaya was delicious and more than made up for the coffee
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Our room was beautiful and had a stunning view. We liked our hostess. She was friendly and very helpful.
Cons: Breakfast was good but it would've been nice to have a bit more, especially warm food like more scrambled eggs, omlette. Maybe that ccould be improved on for those who requested it. Every B&B is different. At this one, you enter a common area. Food is left there in the morning and you can take it to your balcony or room. We had a table on balcony so it worked out nicely. We enjoyed the hostess when we did meet her upon our departure. She was very generous and helpful. It was overall a great spot.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast fruits are so good. room is very nice, location good too
Cons: Mosquitos are a lot but that is typical of hawaii and indoor is fine since there is screen door. Very nice house, room and garden so a lot of birds frogs are singing at night. Wifi is weak
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Steve and Su were amazing hosts and they go out of their way to make sure you have an great stay. Our breakfast both mornings were an assortment of fruit (some of which they grow organically themselves) and waffles/pastries, all of which was delicious. They do a really great job keeping their property clean, cozy, and comfortable. I usually stay at hotels because my experiences with B&Bs generally aren't super great, but Orchid Tree really is a gem! We also happened to stay there during a hurricane, and at no point did we feel like we weren't safe or uncomfortable. Steve even got up in the middle of the night to add a barrier to the front door so our room didn't flood (we found out the next morning, and it definitely worked). Thank you!
Cons: Honestly, there really isn't much to dislike. I just spent 3 minutes trying to think of something and nothing really comes to mind that Steve and Su have control over.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Orchid House was a very nice unit with it's own balcony and access to the property's pool and lanai. Inside it was tidy and clean . We loved the location which gave good access to the more interesting east side of the island. Breaskfsts were simple but very adequate and beautifully presented.
Cons: We had a major problem with the wifi which made sorting some of our trips out a bit tricky. Steve did try to fix but still problematic. Could have maybe done with a kettle in the room as well as coffee machine.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast served was delicious and appreciated our vegan and gluten free preference! The Koa suite was wonderful and the sheets were very soft and comfortable, slept well through the coqui sounds! Beautiful setting and private! Wonderful hosts!
Cons: Did not have the opportunity to meet Steve and Su in person, but had a wonderful visit with Nicole!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host is nice and the facilities, including backyard, pool and hot tub are awesome. The location is near to town and near to seashore as well. Breakfast was well-provided.
Cons: There is no individual kitchen and the view in room is limited. Mosquito are present due to plants in the yard, which is understandable.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The room was large and spacious. The outdoor area was comfortable for sitting and relaxing.
Cons: The musty mildew smell was very prominent in our room. A coffee pot was provided, but no coffee. Liquid bath soap, no shampoo.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The bathroom was really nice with river rock floor and a huge open shower area. Could look out at the ocean while sitting in the hot tub. Short walk to beach for sunrise - gorgeous!
Cons: There are a large number of coqui frogs in the area so if you’re a light sleeper you may want ear plugs
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hosts, easy and comfortable location, awesome walks and views!

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful B&B above the coast with great view and lovely terrace. The owners prepared us a delicious breakfast and were very friendly and helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous view. Loved the jacuzzi!
Cons: Bed was firm, but I must say that I am extra picky and I need a softer bed than most people.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast and setting for breakfast overlooking ocean.
Cons: Parking was difficult. Thought the room was AC'd. Perhaps misread it.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The location and a magnificent garden
Cons: I was very disappointed that my nutritional constraints were not taken into consideration at all and also found the host a bit abrupt
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The hosts (and their pets) were wonderful, shared lots of tips for where to eat and what to do. Killer view, especially at sunrise.

7.0 Good
Pros: Great location.
Cons: Rooms quite basic.
7.0 Good
Pros: Enjoyed the bamboo trail and waterfall trail. Enjoyed the dinner with private chef. Room was kept immaculate by staff. Staff was very friendly.
Cons: No wi-fi in room. Had to go to kitchen area to use laptop to access internet. No coffee pods one morning. Didn't bother me but one guest wanted decaf and there were no decaf pods there. Breakfasts could have been more varied. It doesn't take much to cook a few eggs.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a wonderful hotel. The view of the waterfalls is incredible, and we really enjoyed swimming in the pool beneath the falls one morning after a delicious breakfast. Beds and sheets are super comfy. Isolated from Hilo yet still a short drive away. Can fall asleep listening to the frogs and insects outside. Best hotel we stayed at in Hawaii. There's also a hotel cat named Alice who's pretty friendly.
Cons: There was an unexpected resort fee of $10 per person/per night.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The Staff are very accommodating and friendly. the house is beautiful warm and welcoming vibe. The property is located on the waterfall which again has some lovley views and a hike to the bamboo gardens was also amazing. A beautiful place to stay if you dont mind the heat. I will be visiting again for sure.
Cons: Beautiful remote accomodation, however there is no aircon in the rooms, the ceiling fan was enough for me at night but not for my partner. The temperature in the room was uncomfortable, sticky and hot. You 100% need a hire car if you plan to stay here, dinner reservation need to he booked in advance and the nearest resturant to the hotel is a 30min drive into Hilo.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice to sit with view overlooking the falls in a secluded spot. Good brekky
Cons: Getting into the water down the bottom is a bit of a pain
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The proximity to the falls was amazing. The caretaker Laura was particularly friendly and helpful.
6.7 Good
Cons: We stayed at one of the cabins. Outdoor shower was great although, the outdoor restroom and other bathroom facilities could be cleaner. :( no lock on cabin
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast selection was great, large variety of choices and local fresh fruit. Coffee was good too. Private waterfalls and grounds were incredibly beautiful. Security gate on access road, given key fob to open gate.. You feel that you are in a remote rural natural area yet are only minutes from Hilo. To have access to such natural beauty and awesome water falls with no other people around was a very unique experience. Also to sit on the outside deck and have breakfast overlooking the falls with almost no one else around was an experience you can't have anywhere else. The staff were all great and very friendly too.
Cons: There is no air conditioning in the rooms, but with shade, ceiling fan and portable fan and windows open, temperatures were tolerable for sleeping at night. Also, facilities are powered partially by solar power but diesel generator ran all night to power the Inn. Noise from generator was minimal, behind wall and away from sleeping quarters. Chef's choice dinners made from local ingredients are advertised and offered at times but when we were there, we were told that it was the chef's day off, so no such dinner at the Inn was available to us, but good restaurants are nearby in Hilo..
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Accommodations wonderful. Beautiful property. Treated professionally and kindly and friendly. Perfect for a 2nd honeymoon. Close to restaurants and the Botantical Gardens which is a must do.
Cons: nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The private waterfall and surroundings are so beautiful... also, I rented one of their cabin and the view was absolutely amazing, I had a full moon reflecting on the ocean the first night and the sunrise are exceptional...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The vibe.

Pros: This is an out of the ordinary place to stay, like stepping back in time into a home from the 40s... room was comfortable & we loved Maureen’s pancakes for breakfast... and two minute walk away from an amazing spot to swim with turtles. If you don’t like the sound of birds or frogs at night, or a pet friendly home, this is not the place for you. If you do, you will absolutely love Maureen’s place, her friendly cat, and the dogs come and say hi too - truly memorable.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location was amazing, across the road were the most beautiful lagoons. Maureen was such a lovely host and provided us with all we needed. The house itself is beautiful and it was such a magic place to stay
Cons: The bathroom was shared with the opposite room, but that wasn’t a problem as everything was very clean.

The place is very peaceful and you can hear birds singing all day long

The kitchen-dining area remarkable with a garden view. The property is practically across the street from the sea!
Cons: Nothing not to like. The guest is welcomed and spoiled by Maureen.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice community spaces. Amid wonderful beach parks and good neighborhoods to walk. 2 mi to Old Hilo.
Cons: Our room was small and as a couple during a rainy visit we didn't have a chair in our room.
5.0 Okay
Cons: The towels were thin and the bedsheets were also so thin they could be seen through. The sheets were also pilling making them uncomfortable. Having to go to the office for coffee and ice was silly. Most places have these available in the rooms. I understood the extra late charge, but considering the flights come in at late hours, you should accommodate for late checkins.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything, great staff incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and with good tips for your trip. The place have good vibes, great spaces both into the "dorm room" with private bathroom and private kitchen, as well as the outside common space under the wide veranda with tables, sofas and utility area. Internet works well in all areas. I booked for the dorm room but it have all the comfort and good points of a hotel service! The dorm itself was for 6 but spaces and rooms are organized as if you are sleeping only in two, the "dorm" is actually an apartment! Great value for money, incredibly pleasant stay.
Cons: Maybe a light scent of mould - my nose is very sensitive to it but I learned it is normal on the wet side of the islands...
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The bed was extremely (and surprisingly) comfortable which was much appreciated. Additionally, the air-conditioning worked like a charm and meant the room had perfect conditions for sleeping in.
7.0 Good
Pros: Liked our two-bedroom unit and the hot shower that never ran out even with four adults! Liked the bike rentals on premise and closeness to beach parks.
Cons: Bed could have been more comfortable for me but no one else in our family complained!
7.0 Good
Pros: Outside of downtown Hilo, closer to the beach parks with turtles. Bikes available for hire, communal laundry area and large outdoor (undercover) areas for group gatherings or just to eat outside. Very nice atmosphere in the outside communal areas. Lovely staff. Unit had fans and air-conditioning.
Cons: Some of the beds were quite short, which was a bit strange. There was no kettle in our unit, only a coffee machine.

Pros: We’ve been staying here for the past three years! Location and staff are wonderful! It is one of the only hotels in Hawaii owned by a native local family!
Cons: Nope! All good!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff at the front desk was incredible. I loved the gardens as well. Very filling breakfast. The candy at check in was delicious.
Cons: The rooms we packed. So much in a small area. I did not like how early the pool and seating area closed. It would’ve been nice to be able to sit outside and enjoy the environment in the evening. Why close the vending machine so early? No midnight s
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the old school Hawaii feel! Open lanai and fountain were lovely. Free lei class was delightful. Convenient restaurant was great, beds comfy (but small--doubles).

7.4 Good
Pros: The TV and Kitchen
Cons: Poor air conditioner needs to moved closer to the bed
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked basically everything. I highly recommend this place!! The manager Alan is super kind and thoughtful, gave us recommendations about neighbouring restaurants, beaches. He picked a papaya from the cottages garden for us, which was sweet and delicious. The next day he picked us another one and offered that we pick any fruit from the property. There was an orange tree, coconut palms and a papaya tree. He let us sit at his own porch where we enjoyed our breakfasts. The garden and the surroundings are lush and tropical. We rented bikes at the neighbouring place called Arnetts lodge and biked into Hilo. Mosquito nets on windows, clean interior, modern bathroom, full-body and smaller mirror, key-less entry (4-digit code), ceiling fan. Bed is not wider than 150-160 cm. Yellow tropical birds flying around. Blue-green small lizards - super cute. Breakfast included, what was offered to us: local fruit (papaya orange banana), breakfast muffins incl eggs and some sort of meat (maybe bacon) (frozen, to microwave), bread, margarine, strawberry jam, eggs.
Cons: Porch belonging to our room had a single plastic chair. ( I was able to sit there and place my drink and camera on the porch railing /fence).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location - easy walk to the beach. The facilities were perfect for our group. Staff is wonderful, friendly and helpful.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: There is a secluded private beach within a 5mins walk from the cottage which was aaamazing!!
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Very poor
Cons: Everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Basic breakfast materials were provided which we supplemented...but for a quick grab and go, there was plenty. Having a kitchen area is awesome.
Cons: Love this location. Great facility - had to find any fault.
5.0 Okay
Pros: This was a repeat visit: we stayed there seven years ago and remembered the host, Alan, very fondly. The location is very nice, close to a small beach with views across Hilo Bay to the port.
Cons: The breakfast was really, really disappointing. Last time, Alan cooked us some fried rice and there was plenty of fresh food. This time, there was the barest minimum: the cheapest white bread, the cheapest jam, and some raw eggs. Instead of butter, some kind of spread; the cutlery mismatched and rusty, the cooking oil of the cheapest variety. The milk for the coffee was off (my wife ruined her coffee by putting that milk in without smelling it first). Luckily, we had bought some dried aki the day before, which I chopped up and fried with eggs. Oh well. On a different note, the no-slip mat in the shower looked disgusting.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Me and my wife we love this place. It’s made us feel like home not a hotel. The owner was very nice he had fruits for us in the kitchen. At night we sleep very peaceful cause all the birds and animals sound. I would love to come back here again. Highly recommended to stay here, if you want to feel like living on the island.
6.0 Good
Pros: A short distance to Hilo township by car and a short walk to shoreline.
Cons: Some more crockery in the kitchen and a little more choice for breakfast would have been better. Cereal had run out one morning.

Cons: Some of the staff either ignored me or were not that friendly.
4.0 Okay
Pros: location, and the history of it.
Cons: no complimentary breakfast, paid parking, no shuttle services, wish it had a hot tub.asked for a late checkout denied one.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Rooms were very nice in a good location. We did not want the tourist side of the island and this was a great place to stay. The service was good and the value was high for a property of this type on the islands.
Cons: It was crowded at check in times. Elevator waits could be long. Parking was difficult at times.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: My first room smelled like vomit. When I called downstairs to switch rooms, they told me to come downstairs to pick up a new set of keys. They DID NOT tell me that I would be locked out of my room. At that point I had to wait for a security escort...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Valet parking attendants.
1.0 Poor
Pros: Parking valet that's all
Cons: Buffet Breakfast was absolutely not good, no communication that there were no link between the breakfast restaurant and the Hotel, you have to pay, no room charge or you must ask for a coupon ( they do not tell you or offer it at the checkin)
7.0 Good
Pros: I think the breakfast could have been better. Waffles were funny
Cons: I wonder why the deposits of $50 and $100 have yet to be released. Also not having the front desk have text access to foreign phone numbers seems a bit cheap!! I am an elite Hilton member
6.7 Good
Pros: Concierge and lobby staff were really helpful and friendly. Spectacular views.
Cons: Hotel and restaurant need updating. No complimentary water for a four star hotel. Swimming pool way too small for a resort that size (and needs renovation). Resort parking should be complimentary.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The friendly vibe and chilled environment. They brought for everyone on the hostel food for a Christmas dinner, it was really nice. The place has a special charm of 'old style house' which gives it a peculiar homy feeling.
Cons: The beds are not too good. They are quite uncomfortable and squeaky, which in a dorm room it's a bit of an issue.

3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The fact it had a microwave and frig.

Pros: Close to the bay, park next door, very close to town
Cons: No elevators esp for older folks
6.3 Good
Pros: Location, free parking.
Cons: Property needs upgrade.
6.0 Good
Pros: Nice location close to the volcanos national park and the Akaka state park. Many great restaurants nearby.
Cons: The door lock looked as it had been cracked open not long time ago. It seemed unsafe to leave anything valuable in the room. Mosquitos around, remember to have your spray at hand.
7.0 Good
Pros: Location is near the sightseeing spots.
Cons: The swimming pool was not opened while we stayed in December.
1.0 Poor
Pros: I didn't like anything about that hotel. As a matter of fact, after visiting the room, I de used to go stay elsewhere. It was the worst hotel I have ever set foot in. EXTREMELY disappointed.
Cons: EVERYTHING!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great beds, great value, great location. What's not to like?
Cons: Parking was difficult.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very helpful. We checked into this hotel because it was close to the hospital that one of our family members admitted for emergency for a few days.
Cons: This facility & set up is more like an island style motel , not a brand name style resort setting for sure. No food or restaurant on site.
8.0 Excellent
Cons: There was a coffeemaker in the room but no coffee. Inexpensive price, so can't expect more than a clean, comfortable room.

6.0 Good
Pros: People were friendly
Cons: The place is old and Rundown . Bed is soft. A lot of noise from nearby hiway at night . Papayas for breakfast are great but cleanliness and selection of breakfast items not so great like communal peanut butter and jelly jars.

Pros: Breakfast was local food
Cons: No hot water. People were very unfriendly
3.4 Mediocre
Pros: Location except it did not feel safe there
Cons: In great disrepair
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing it's the first time we checked out early. We should stay for 3nights, but we left after 1night. The place is falling apart, it's dirty and noisy. You can hear everything over the paper walls even the live concert of coqui frogs. You have to run the water for 5minutes before you get hot water (very ecological). We asked for refund for the rest of the nights but they refused.
Cons: The place is really old(they don't care about the house at all). It's really dirty, the cleaning lady did what she could, but it's the old dirt which can't be cleaned.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The no frills, relaxed environment.
Cons: Nothing
7.0 Good
Pros: 10 minutes walk from town, relaxed ambient, hippy-like environment is great with meeting interesting people and getting suggestions on places to visit. Serves interesting continental breakfast items. Surrounded by flowering ginger plants.

Pros: The old fashion Hawaiian atmosphere
Cons: I little challenge trying to adjust the perfect water temperature for the shower

Pros: Helpful staff, good location.
Cons: Appreciated being able to move down the hall when very loud guests moved-in next door & vibrated our walls with their music & yelling.
