Pros: This place is amazing -- a renovated old mansion with beautiful art deco details throughout, and thoughtful accommodations -- fast internet, updated bathrooms, a kitchen available for use and stocked with a delicious and varied continental breakfast!
Cons: It is an older building -- so the plumbing seemed a little finicky, the doors were thin and the building loud. I don't know why the windows don't have screens, but we had trouble with our climate control and had to leave them open, so that was a little inconvenient. Basically zero on site staff (it felt like) which was a little ghostly to come in and leave without interacting with anyone but the stray other guest.

Pros: The location was extremely convenient for going across the river (by bus or car) to the Pearl, Nob Hill and Downtown districts. Also, the immediate vicinity was good, as the hotel is very near to the Jupiter Hotel and Doug Fir Lounge and Restaurant, which has good breakfasts and a nice nighttime bar. The rooms were clean and functional - and quiet. The staff was friendly and helpful. I give this hotel my top rating!

Pros: The staff was very accommodating, they allowed us to check in a few hours before check in time so that we could freshen up and explore the city! The location of this motel was great, we could have walked to the convention center (where we attended comic con, the reason for our visit), and most uber rides downtown were around 7-10 dollars! There were also a few decent restaurants within walking distance! I definitely recommend breakfast and J and M.

Cons: It's an older motel, so it definitely has a run-down feel. For my trip (visiting Portland with a friend to go enjoy the city, nightlife, etc) this was perfect. It's confusing to find parking (small lot) and to get around the motel.

Pros: A chill vibe and location. The staff were super helpful and pleasant. They have wine and water to purchase in the room. Restaurants and coffee shops in walking distance. We had some good ramen down the street. They have doors painted with chalkboard paint and chalk to write on them! There's a business center, and small art gallery. Live music and/or band next door. Patios are literally right outside your door, which was super convenient. I'd definitely come back!
Cons: There's only $29.00 valet parking or street parking that has enforcements that start at 8 am. I was able to run down and move my car to the front and pay like $2.00 to park until 10:00 am. I sent my kids into the room before me , and I returned to two pre teen boys asking if they could try on the condoms that are provided as a courtesy in front of my 7yr old. Now I'm fine with that conversation, but I'm still wondering how I'm going to explain that to the bff's mom. The room is super small. It worked fine for the one night, but I would not have stayed here for an extended time with the three kids I had with me on this trip. If you have chill lowkey older or small children you will be fine, but I had two 12 yr old and a 7 yr old boys, and it just wasn't enough space for ALL of thier energy. Overall it was nice!

Pros: I loved the staff, the architecture, the rooms were fun, no problems at all, the noise was not an issue, and the hotel provided ear plugs if you felt the need for them. Overall, the location of this establishment is amazing, everyone was very friendly and accepting. There's a lot of love in this particular area, you'll feel welcome everywhere and by everyone. Cons: I wouldn't say I didn't like anything, I would say that with our group of kids (some of them were very immature) this place is not really for them, this is a great place for someone who's in the 21+ age range looking for a good time! the atmosphere can be intimidated if you are looking for "cozy and quite" and are more conservative in your values, but this is a wonderful experience, definitely recommend.

On the ground level the air conditioner unit was blowing air up into the curtains which defied the purpose a bit. Also there wasn't enough electrical outlets by the bed because the fridge and microwave and lamp were using the same socket. We noticed later on in the week when we returned, and had a room on the third level, that a multiple plug in socket was used, this was helpful. ( I like to plug in my cell-phone close to the bed) Alarm clock did not go off on the appointed time... and yes we double checked that we had set it right.

Needed 5am airport shuttle so they called a cab to take me (hotel paid for; assuming they do this during off hours). Left early so didn't get to sample breakfast. Hotel was quiet when I was there. Would use again if needed to stay near airport.

Cons: Saturday morning at 6 am a construction crew came in to do repairs on the room next door. This included tearing out walls and moving furniture. I would think that they would have the common sense not to start work until after 8:30 or 9. Staff apologized some what but did not off any kind of confidence that it would not happen again. Room was in poor condition and was dirty. Will stay next door at the Chestnut next time. They are cheaper too.

Cons: Rooms are too noisy... rooms have little or no noise insulation. Another lodger ranted and raved, screamed and yelled all night with no response from staff despite complaints. Will never stay there again!

Cons: The rooms were pretty dirty. The facilities were old, dated and in much need of repair. The air conditioner barely worked. There is no hair dryer or iron. No complimentary shampoo or conditioner. There is no “Do Not Disturb” signs offered to guests. Our room smelled like dog urine. I honestly felt as though I was staying in a sketchy, dirty $40 a night motel but paying $110 a night. I would highly recommend staying somewhere else.

Though i may have softly spoken, desipite the reefer i'd been smoking., i said, "no more" "In my robe of complementary so galore I uttered begone harlot so wishing to be galore. Alas, I stayed in hotel of the trees, though noisiness never let me get a nut. Like an acorn, their rating fell, like a bat out of hell. A wonderful trip still happrnened nut unto ye, old chestnut tree.

Cons: To start, when I arrived, they panicked because they didn't have my room. All they could do is put me in a smoking room. I took it because I needed a place to stay. And as far as I can tell I still paid the extra that I reserved through Kayak for a non smoking room. The room smelled like smoke, and the lady at the front desk offered to spray it for me. Really? The bed and pillows had burn holes in them, which I had to disclose so I could get my $50 deposit back. This place is a joke, do not stay here!

Pros: It was nice in terms of location, being only about 15 minutes away from the airport and just across the water for downtown and everything else too. The curtains also kept out almost all the daylight which I think is nice for when you want to sleep after flying in at 2am.
Cons: The bed was pure springs, no joke you could feel-and hear-each individual spring as you moved and laid on the bed. The bathroom was also interesting, the ceiling had some separation, like a layer was coming off. And what I can only assume was supposed to be the fan for the shower was a big rusty square in the wall with the rusty fan, unplugged (I didn’t dare try to plug it in) Igor above the back end of the shower.

Pros: The staff was very friendly and helpful, with answers to all of our questions. Having the in-room fridge was incredibly useful. Water pressure was decent, and sufficiently hot as needed. Over all, we were quite satisfied.
Cons: This is more of a comment towards Portland in general, but the cigarette smoke was pretty heavy around there. We were in a no-smoking room, but we could still smell it with all the doors and windows closed, when people outside would light up. Similarly, my mother was staying in a no-smoking room a few doors down from us, and her room was permeated with the smell.

Cons: First of all I made a reservation online under "pet friendly" and accidentally booked it for the wrong weekend. I called the hotel and the front desk was extremely rude and told me to call whomever I booked through. When we got there we were told our room was not pet friendly and our dog was not allowed. I was also asked for $100 deposit who h was never mentioned when I booked either. It was an ok room but we alarmed that the police showed up to loudly escort the people above us from their room in the middle of the night. Never ever again would I stay here. Don't do it.

Cons: Extremely dirty, the people hanging around the parking lot and hallways looked like they were either on drugs or about to stab someone, room was filthy - dirty sheets, stains everywhere, holes in the tiles and wall, cigarette burns in the blankets - seriously felt so uncomfortable. Just the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. The front desk is a tiny window with probably bullet proof glass which I don't blame them for using given the people who come by. Next time I wouldnt stay here even if it was free.
