Pros: A small, clean, quiet family-run hotel in Agia Galini, a short scenic walk from the beach and little fishing port below. Close to path leading to walks over headlands. Cleaned daily.

Pros: Family owned business. The owner was super friendly, immediately giving us tips and recommendations for the lovely town the property is in. The room had a bay view over the neighboring roof. Breakfast was a wider spread than the minimal continental, price was fair, although we did not take advantage of it. The location is nice, about 10-15 minutes away from the town center. Parking was available right in from of the property.
Cons: The rooms had an air freshener, sparing every 10-15 minutes, to hide a distant smoky odor theat stuck to the room. Turning it off and opening the windows for a while was the better solution for us.

Pros: Family run business, the owners are very very welcoming and nice, full of good tips. Breakfast is full of homemade food, fresh every day. Location is very good as well. Location is very good, quiet, and walking distance to an infinity of restaurants (ask owner for recommendations). Unless you're on a tighter budget, try to book a room with the sea view, it is spectacular. 100% recommendable!
Cons: WiFi connection in the rooms is very poor - borderline non-existent. But then again, it's called holidays ;)

Pros: I liked everything at avra. The host was delightful and made the best breakfast ever! The room was very clear and cozy with a small yet nice balcony. The bed was very comfortable. Everything is close (super market, cafes and the beach of course!).

Pros: Very nice, comfortable and super clean little hotel, with spacious rooms. Breakfast upon request offered a huge selection to satisfy everyone (vegetarian and vegan options also available). We traveled along with our dog and he was really welcome at the premises. We definitely recommend it. Also excellent value for money.

Pros: Lovely hotel. Peaceful in the evening. Nice staff and good food. Caters mainly for German tourists but no language problems and the reception staff speak very good English. Agia Galini is a pretty village too. We stayed in a 'chill room' which was clean and roomy with a hammock in the garden. We had room 506, at the end of the building with a larger garden.
Cons: The beach is sandy but the sea floor is very stony so not good for playing in the water. I didn't want to drive so intended to book some excursions but there weren't any available from the hotel or the village however that didn't end up as a problem as we enjoyed the hotel facilities.

Cons: Not very ecological: changed towels every day (even if clean) - should use the principle that other hotels use: dirty towel on the floor= please change; towel hanging = please keep. They also used plenty of water to wash stairs every day (even if clean and places where not much used). This is Creta, an island where, in July, I believe, water is a luxury.

Pros: The breakfast at the garden was really great. We had something different every day, made on the spot by Aris, who happens to be a processional cook. The hotel is run by him and his lovely partner Marina. Both obliged in every way possible and made our stay look like we stayed at some friends. We also liked the balconies. Ours looked at the road and it was really big.
Cons: It's not a five star boutique hotel, but that you do know before getting there. Nevertheless, a modern renovation could really made a great difference, though that would have a toll at the price. If there would be something I could change, that would be the mattress. Maybe.

Pros: Super clean and very well maintained. Best spot/hotel in Agia Galini, not only because of the location (on a hill, overlooking the harbor and the gulf) but also because of the flowers/greenery. Small details like the ochre colour of the building and the discrete lighting, make it unique. Nice, adequate breakfast, varied daily. The rooms are serviced daily, it makes a difference in the summer. Quite efficient wi-fi. Host friendly and accommodating and well versed in the hotel business.
Cons: There were very few immaterial nuances, like water pressure, hot/cold water in the shower (we got either hot or cold, mixing was not possible), or the dim light when shaving, but no deal breakers really, at least not in the summer.

Pros: The view was beautiful, the host Eleni was friendly and approachable. The breakfast was more than adequate, with fresh bread and a variety of home baked goods. There is a laid back feel about the hotel, very relaxed.
Cons: The hill, and steps, down to the beach and town, however, you get the beautiful views, and you do get used to it if you are reasonably fit. We are mid sixty, and early 70s, and we managed.

Pros: Everything about Astoria was wonderful. Kate and her family and Anna were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. We felt like family. The room was spotless and well proportioned and serviced every day. The view from our good sized balcony was amazing. Breakfast was a meal to look forward to every day. Kate’s mum cooked all the special sweet treats and there was a wonderful selection of items. Eggs meats cheeses, pastry, cereal, yoghurt, honey, jams, fresh bread and much more. A car and driver (Demos) were available for day trips to other villages at very reasonable cost. We would highly recommend you choose this home away from home. Thank you Kate for making our time In Agia Galini a memorable 50th wedding anniversary celebration.

Pros: The breakfast was really good. Clearly the hotel made an extra effort here. We lived on ground floor so stepping out was really convenient. We could also park our car just in front of the hotel, but during peak season it would have been hard - this was in October.
Cons: From the map it was impossible to learn that the hotel was 70 vertical meters up from the beach. It looked like a few easy steps to the beach. But on the other hand parking down by the sea would have been next to impossible.

Pros: Good value basic small hotel. Clean room and fairly good continental breakfast. Ideal location for the restaurants and shops of this small charming town. Friendly German manager. Was able to park free right outside hotel. Glad we stayed port side of town rather than beach side as far more restaurants and shops near the port.
Cons: Not very good views as bigger buildings accross the road block out most of the sea view. Steep paths and steps down to to centre of village/town. Would probably select a hotel with a better view if visit village again.

Pros: The hotel is conveniently sited, old and extended village easily accessible, parking not difficult, biggish breakfast - kitchen not seen but cooked O.K. for unusually generous breakfast, nice room with balcony that got afternoon shade, decent plumbing not needing lavatory paper to be deposited in a bin. It does only breakfast, but there is a choice of tavernas within easy striking distance during the season.
Cons: We liked the hotel. Nothing not to like unless you want a different sort of hotel.

Family-run Sky Beach Hotel is only steps from the beach and a 3-minute walk from the center of the village in South Crete. It features a swimming pool and a snack bar. The hotel consists of furnished apartments and studios with bathroom, air conditioning, kitchen, TV, phone and large balconies with panoramic sea view to the Libyan Sea. Guests are provided with free parking and free Wi-Fi access. Several choices for breakfast can be enjoyed daily.

Pros: Absolutely stunning view from the room terrace. Huge rooms and terrace. Great infrastructure, just a few steps from supermarket, many nice tavernas and the beach (5 EUR per day for sunbed set). Good swimming pool, also with great view. Good WiFi.
Cons: We did not take the breakfast because prices listed for the options were quite high, 6.50 for yogurt with fruits and honey, for instance.

Pros: The room is very spacious and the view was great. The aircon worked very well and there was plenty of hot water for the shower. The place was very clean, too. The location was very convenient for access to Phaistos, Matala, and Plakias. There is a supermarket just below the hotel and plenty of good restaurants.
Cons: The sheets were thin and "pill-y" and the mattress too firm for our tastes. There was no bath soap. Luckily I had my own.

Cons: Hotel is showing its age. Hotel is built into a hillside at a steep angle. Have to carry luggage up 30-35 steps before reaching main level where elevator service begins.

Pros: We loved our first room which had a huge balcony looking down towards the sea. We spent our evenings sitting outside star gazing and enjoying the peace and tranquility of the place. All the staff are helpful and pleasant.
Cons: I didnt realise that a flexible room meant we would be moved for the last night of our stay. I wish someone had gone to the new room beforehand as it smelt of dampness and we had no Wifi in there. Overall the place and our hosts were super.

Pros: This hotel is ina good position at the top of the village,in a quiet position with good parking,but only a couple of minutes walk from the shops and restaurants. The room was slightly dated, but clean and comfortable, had an enormous terrace and was extremely cheap. Manolis and staff were delightful and very friendly. Nothing to dislike.

Pros: Villa Maxine is conveniently located near the main road, before Agia Galini. This is very helpful if you're planning on finding an easy spot to park and use Agia Galini as your base to explore nearby areas. It's in walking distance from the sea side, the restaurants and bars. Its surroundings are completely quiet! The complex and the rooms appear to have been recently remodeled and we found the mattresses to be very comfortable. Rooms were also very spacious. The common areas look very inviting to enjoy and relax. The breakfast was basic but OK. The price was very good for high season and we found the negative reviews to be somehow deceptive for this hotel.
Cons: Lack of wifi in combination with poor cell data coverage make it hard to access the internet from the room.

Pros: Super clean and very well maintained. Best spot/hotel in Agia Galini, not only because of the location (on a hill, overlooking the harbor and the gulf) but also because of the flowers/greenery. Small details like the ochre colour of the building and the discrete lighting, make it unique. Nice, adequate breakfast, varied daily. The rooms are serviced daily, it makes a difference in the summer. Quite efficient wi-fi. Host friendly and accommodating and well versed in the hotel business.
Cons: There were very few immaterial nuances, like water pressure, hot/cold water in the shower (we got either hot or cold, mixing was not possible), or the dim light when shaving, but no deal breakers really, at least not in the summer.

Pros: The view was beautiful, the host Eleni was friendly and approachable. The breakfast was more than adequate, with fresh bread and a variety of home baked goods. There is a laid back feel about the hotel, very relaxed.
Cons: The hill, and steps, down to the beach and town, however, you get the beautiful views, and you do get used to it if you are reasonably fit. We are mid sixty, and early 70s, and we managed.

Pros: We loved our first room which had a huge balcony looking down towards the sea. We spent our evenings sitting outside star gazing and enjoying the peace and tranquility of the place. All the staff are helpful and pleasant.
Cons: I didnt realise that a flexible room meant we would be moved for the last night of our stay. I wish someone had gone to the new room beforehand as it smelt of dampness and we had no Wifi in there. Overall the place and our hosts were super.

Pros: Family owned business. The owner was super friendly, immediately giving us tips and recommendations for the lovely town the property is in. The room had a bay view over the neighboring roof. Breakfast was a wider spread than the minimal continental, price was fair, although we did not take advantage of it. The location is nice, about 10-15 minutes away from the town center. Parking was available right in from of the property.
Cons: The rooms had an air freshener, sparing every 10-15 minutes, to hide a distant smoky odor theat stuck to the room. Turning it off and opening the windows for a while was the better solution for us.

Unless you're on a tighter budget, try to book a room with the sea view, it is spectacular. 100% recommendable!

Pros: Lovely hotel. Peaceful in the evening. Nice staff and good food. Caters mainly for German tourists but no language problems and the reception staff speak very good English. Agia Galini is a pretty village too. We stayed in a 'chill room' which was clean and roomy with a hammock in the garden. We had room 506, at the end of the building with a larger garden.
Cons: The beach is sandy but the sea floor is very stony so not good for playing in the water. I didn't want to drive so intended to book some excursions but there weren't any available from the hotel or the village however that didn't end up as a problem as we enjoyed the hotel facilities.
